So I posted over at Rebelscum my list of Action Fleet customs, and someone suggested I try an Assault Gunboat. I remember the ship from the X-Wing series for the PC. I looked into it and came up with an idea to work by. This will take a lot of kit bashing, but I think I got this planned out good.

A:  Body from an X-Wing
B:  Top wing from a shuttle (Lambda versions)
C:  Side wings from a shuttle (Lambda again)

As for D and E, I'll probably have to look for those parts separately. For D, I was thinking maybe the wings from an X-Wing, but they might seem a bit too short.

What do you guys think?

for D, I was thinking perhaps a model airplane kit could be the donor. As far as the E, part, I'm not sure.

Oh that is hard one Dave but I'm sure you can do it.

The idea from Clint is great. You should try it with some 1/72 model kit airplanes. I think the wings from a  B-25 Mitchell or B-17 bomber could work for D.

And I think E will be a scratch build. Maybe made of wood or plastic or a square packaging (candy, battery, ...)

This sounds like a great idea. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Thanks for the input guys. That's what I need to get eventually, is an airplane model kit. I'll probably look into getting one in the next few days.

So I STILL haven't gotten my paint in the mail yet, but I was able to knock out another custom.

Some of you may remember Hasbro took over the Action Fleet line in 2002 or so. They were supposed to make an Action Fleet Star Destroyer. Unfortunately that was one of the vehicles that was never mass produced. Thanks to Unreality86 (from Rebelscum) who also made one, I was able to make my own Star Destroyer. Taking a Star Destroyer Hallmark Ornament from 2004, I was able to cut off the wire coming from the bottom. After that I removed the tiny Blockade Runner that was chained at the bottom. There was one other little chain on the main hull, which I removed. A button was located on the bottom, right behind the hanger, I guess it was to light up when pressed. I got a screwdriver and lightly hammered in the button. The hole was just the right size to fit a standard Action Fleet stand on. Lastly, I repainted it with fortress gray, as it had an ugly greenish-gray paint job to it.

After:

I think this will look pretty good next to the Action Fleet Blockade Runner, no?   8)

This looks great to me. I know if my SD ornament breaks what I am gonna do with it. The push button plays a voice recording of C3PO whining that were done for this time! Anyhow, great looking custom AF. On the front page.

I'm not sure I remember this ornament. You say it's action fleet size?

Your paint job looks good on it.

Yepper, as I recall, it is pretty close to AF size.

excellent custom mate. The Star Destroyer is looking great.

great job
10/10

I think the size is close to the size of the Deagostini Star Destroyer.

Progress on the white TIE Fighter is coming along. The whole TIE was spray painted white, and I've been painting the panels black myself. Still need to paint some panels on one wing (second pic) and add details to the cockpit and engine. For anyone curious, the white TIE Fighter is the A New Hope version, as in ESB and ROTJ we got the blueish gray one we normally see now. The white version was also a repaint/variation in the Titanium line.

that white tie is looking pretty awesome.  I love it.

Did they recolor the ties in ANH when they made the special edition?  are you talking about them being white in the movie itself or just in the vintage toy line?

great paintjob Dave. The TIE looks really good.

you should try a slight drybrushing with dark grey to bring out all the details

I don't think they re-colored the TIEs in ANH. If I remember correctly they were still relatively white in color.

Spud, the white TIE I'm doing is based off both ANH and the titanium line (not vintage).

gotchya.  I'll have to go back and watch anh and see.  I honestly have never noticed any difference in the on screen colors of the ties in the movies, just the differences in the toy lines.
