McFarlane Toys "Avatar" lines.
« on: September 09, 2022, 07:50:03 PM »
McFarlane Toys is releasing toys for "Avatar" (original movie first, to be followed by toys for the sequel).

There are 2 lines- an expansive 2.5" "World Of Pandora" line and a 7" collector focused one.

The 7" scale is misleading though. The Navi figures are 7" with human characters coming in at roughly 4" due to their size differences.

The AMP Suit is scaled for the human figures and looks to be compatible with 3.75" at the very least based on the images of someone that has already found one in the wild (the line is street dated for mid September or later).

The $39.99 price is a bit high considering an almost exact same version was available in 2009 for $19.99, but it is probably about the same as what you would pay for an original on ebay with shipping. Luckily, I already have a few of the 2009 ones (including at least 1 of the harder to find series 2 "maintenance" versions).

Well that seven inch line looks interesting doesn't it. Bet you get some new beasties out of it Dan.

Off to share on the front page.

I pre-ordered the Direhorse and a Banshee Dragon at a local Comic Shop and just discovered that the smaller line isn't 3.75". Such a bummer. The detail on those 2.5" figures is so much inferior to the 1/12 scale line, that I think I'm going to sell the 2.5" creatures, again. A lot of money saved for my wallet here. It was quite hard to find any information on the size of the smaller figures at the beginning. Wish I had found your post earlier. In fact I just came here to open a new topic. The 7" line looks amazing for collectors. I'm sure kids will want those as well, but won't get them most of the time because of the higher price point. I hope the 2.5" line will perform well, too and not go on clearance eventually. They're 1/28 scale, what's that supposed to be? 1/24 scale would be much better to go along with some Jurassic Park dinosaurs. At least they put their focus on the world-building idea here. Sigh.

I am anxious to see what these look like in person.

This is where the fun (of world-building) begins:

The first products of the line have hit shelves at SmythsToys here in Germany!

I got lucky and found the case of 24 mini dioramas untouched and the second item I picked was also the heaviest one. It turned out it was exactly the set that I wanted to get!

These creatures fit perfectly to planets like Felucia.

This is a lot of fun for 6 bucks!

Wow, great set. Thanks for the images and review. Man that would so work with any Felucia stuff.

Thanks for showing the rest of the stuff too. I mean the scale is either smaller or slightly larger than 3.75 inches.

You're welcome! Glad to see you back online. I think the idea of the designers for the smaller scale toys was actually making them in the size of the classic toy soldiers as seen in Toy Story.
I still need to see a human figure of the line, but they might be about 2 inches tall. That'd make them about 1/36 scale.

Yeah, I would think so if the Avatar figures are that size.

The figures of the NavĂ are aboutt 3 inches tall which made them 1/24 scale of they were human. But since they're supposed to be about 50% taller than us (or even double?) I still have to figure that out (literally!).
Thanks for your replies!

Any of the pieces would work for Felucia. They all seem to have a glow in the dark effect too. So awesome. Man, I forget how awesome the SW Action Figure Line used to be that Rancor with Rider is awesome.

I agree these look great for Felucia! I'm so disappointed that they scaled these down from the 3.75" figures of the first movie. The creatures would be great for Star Wars, but feel a bit small in the 2" scale. I've got the creatures from the first movie and love how they fit with my Star Wars figures.

Thank you Starchaser! Your Chryssalid has its special place in my collection and I cannot wait to start working on my next Felucia project.

The initial launch of the AVATAR toy line was awesome, but I completely missed it and even doubt the products were distributed in Europe. However I'm extremely happy that I did not overpay those sets on feeBay.

And since McFarlane Toys seem to go above and beyond with this re-launch, I'm quite optimisitc that we see many if not all creatures for the 4" scale line as well. It's just a matter of time.

I seen this stuff for the first time yesterday also, in Walmart and Best Buy.
Interesting stuff. I wish they would have released stuff like this when the first one came out.

That larger scale Jake and mount was pretty cool.
Just the mount was $50
