Repainted Big Fig BB-8

My wife is a huge BB-8 fan and our 4th anniversary is coming up.  So I got her the BB-8 BigFig...but the problem is...it is WAY too clean.  There are so many little details in this sculpt and it looks incredible, but you can't see them.  They don't pop at all. 

Well, one hour with some brown paints and a crapload of paper towels and it's looking a TON better.  I'm not done, as I'm still going to lighten some areas up where I feel the "dirt" is a little TOO heavy, but it looks infinitely better!

Well, he's certainly not too clean now! :) The paints apps really give this droid an appropriately weathered appearance. Nice job!

Thanks for the feedback! 

I spent tonight with some darker colors and some nail polish remover to clean BB8 up a little bit.  I'm just about done with the repaint.   At some point, I want to remake the torch so it lights up, and I'm going to blacken the rest of the area behind it, but this works for now.

Thanks, guys!  I am loving this little project.  I added a few greeblies to inside of the torch port to make it looks a little more realistic and not just flat white or black plastic.  I had a few fuses and extra guns laying around, so in they went!  It's not screen accurate or anything, as it's a MUCH smaller scale and I'm using stuff I have lying around the workshop, but it'll do.

I've got an LED finger light on there that works pretty well in the place of a flame.  I've got four days to put some finishing touches on the little guy.  Cannot wait!

This is so cool my Star Wars nerd of a 12-year old daughter asked if I could make one so she could have one too  .   She hid her disappointment when I informed her it's out of my skill set.

LOL, thanks!  My sister-in-law saw it and immediately went "...can you make one for Coby?  (my nephew.)"  And I am totally glad to.  I had so much fun working on this.

So, it looks like I'm gonna be starting round two!  Hopefully this time it'll go quicker without so much trial and error.
