Hi everyone!
So far I've just been more of a "reader" than someone who actually contributes...but I wanted to change that tonight because I've just finished a project I've spent lots of on the last weeks.
Lately, I've been working on producing some vintage-style cardbacks for the new TFA figures from Hasbro (for both 3,75" Black Series and the regular 5POA TFA figures). The new design from Hasbro isn't per se bad...but I think the focus on the BAW part is way too strong....and most importantly, I really dig Kenner's vintage card design and wanted to update it for the new movie. ;)
I've now assembled 18 figures (I have two more designs, Han Solo + Constable Zuvio, but I'm still missing those two figures at the moment). Sorry for the watermarks, they're only on the pics and not the finished cardbacks, of course. ;) If you're interested in acquiring one or more kits (cardback + blister), just send me a PM and I'll get back to you with the details.

Thank you, I really appreciate it! Believe me, neither am I, but it's a kind of a necessity since I didn't want to post bad quality pictures. It's just too easy otherwise to copy/print them... :(

Perhaps one small watermark for future posts then? We always give credit to the customizer involved here at ISY. I can understand about copyright infringement and what not, but personally I won't use images that have too much personal branding in them as a matter of course.

Hi everyone, this is my current focus - I'm working on completing a set of all Vintage Collection Figures (Hasbro missed quite a few if you compare them to Kenner's original vintage lineup). I had quite a few of those as a kid, so these are really special to me.
The figures I'm using are "neo" figures from Hasbro's current 3,75" line. Most of these have been mixed, customized and repainted using acrylic colours. Before, I was using reproduction cardbacks, but I've since started designing and producing my own cardbacks. I'm trying to use new (and/or updated) pictures for these, as the Vintage Collection often uses better pics of a high(er) quality - and I do not want to produce "repros" myself, but new stuff.... :)
There were 96 figures total in the original Kenner line (not counting re-releases of figures on later cards), 17 of those on the later POTF cards.
Hasbro released several figures in their Vintage Collection line (VOTC / VTSC / TVC), but I've taken some liberties in deciding which are replacements and which are still missing (e.g. there are 3 Stormtroopers in Hasbro's collection...but for me the "real" Stormtrooper - the one that counts - is the first one on the "Star Wars" cardback...and that wasn't produced again). Here's a list of the figures I'm planning to do....completed figures have been marked green and the numbers are from an overview poster of Kenner's vintage lineup:

AT-ST Driver body and head (SOTDS), helmet from AT-ST Driver (TVC, goggles removed), goggles from AT-AT Commander (TVC), fully repainted. I later removed the harness because it belongs more to the vehicle than the figure.

I think their focus is solely on the six inch line now and the chances of this happening anytime soon are slim.

Yeah me too. It sat right beside a fully articulated trooper with an awful head sculpt for awhile as I recall. One would think they would rerelease that, but so far its a no go. Think Hasbro is trying to say something to us?

That's what I don't get either. They've resculpted that helmet time and time again (last time for the BS "repack")...even though they already have the perfect design...

Thanks for the praise, I really appreciate it. :) I've been custiomising for about 1,5 years now, but before that I've been painting Warhammer Fantasy miniatures for a long time. Took a bit of time to adapt from the more comic-like paitning style of Warhammer to a more realistic one...but I'm slowly getting the hang of this. At the moment, I'm putting a lot of work into each figure, but to be honest I'm still a bit undecided if I'm going to keep that up for every figure in the future. The figures would be a better match for the rest of TVC if they're sporting just a simple (but not sloppy ;) ) paintjob...but currently it's just way more fun for me personally to try to come up with a more detailed and effortful paintjob for the figure. That takes time however, so my progress is slower...aagh, I just don't know yet. ;)

I finished two more figures last night, produced new cardbacks for both of them - the Jawa and Death Star Droid from Star Wars.
Death Star Droid (TVC), antenna added, fully repainted
The Kenner cardback depicts the Sandcrawler DSD (at least I think so), that's why I updated it with the name the droid got later (from "Legends" now) and a corresponding pic. I didn't really want to use the vintage figure as a basis for the colour scheme because it's not really depicted in the movie (only other DSD is the black one - 5D6-RA-7 - on the Death Star).

Frankly, I wouldn't change a thing that your doing. You are creating the ultimate versions of these classic characters. It is downright beautiful to these old eyes (sniff, sniff).
Then, seeing them on classic style vintage cards just pushes the nostalgia even further. For the life of me I can't see why Hasbro won't put out just one line of these every year. I can't imagine the hype, interest, and overall demand there would be for them. I honestly think folks would pay more to get something like this (done right) than they would their new 6" Line and as we all know that is Hasbro's new cash cow.
I don't want to turn this into a Hasbro rant so I will stop, but thank you for showing us how glorious it could be. Off to the front page.

Thanks a lot! :) I'm an OT lover...it's not that I don't like the PT, but I just prefer the original movies (by far ;) ). A while ago I decided to only focus my collection on the OT and even decided against the EU (at least most of it, it's fun to make an exception here and there) since I wanted to bring more of a focus into my collection. So there should be enough to keep you interested, I hope... ;D

Thanks for that, really appreciate it, especially the kind words directed at the Jawa, because to be honest, I wasn't 100% sure of the cardback picture before...
The Gonk (from POTF) has been slightly customized and fully repainted. I wanted to use/update the color design of the original vintage figure for this one, since it's pretty unique. The most similar Droid in ANH is the Lars family Power Droid, but since that one features several additional accessories I wanted to save that for a future custom (with the corresponding cardback/picture). That's why in this case I used a screencap of the scene from which the original cardback pic was taken, but didn't screw with the colors that much...

My fingers are crossed the Hasbro people are looking at this. They have been known to pop in every once in awhile.
I'd be first in line for any new Vintage Collection stuff, believe me. ;) But somehow it's getting a little bit harder to hope for more with every passing day. The only/last ray of hope was a rumour about the possibility of a second exclusive line if I recall that correctly (K-Mart -> BS 3,75", TRU -> TVC), but I haven't heard anything else since then...

...on to my favorite character from the original trilogy (who would've guessed... ;D ;) )
I was really looking forward to updating this card for a long time....General Veers is my favorite character from the OT and I therefore wanted to correctly name him on my updated card. This is my first version of him, there'll definitely be a second version (in his AT-AT Commander gear) in the future.
The figure uses the body from Captain Needa (Legacy), the head from General Veers (TSC) and a customised rank badge. Afterwards, he was fully repainted.

Lol...I won't be able to keep that speed up, unfortunately. ;) Most of the figures I put on a card so far were already finished in the past and just needed some small work/updates here and there...but I'm already working on new figures now. :)
Custom on left, original on right. :) I used a Zutton from POTJ and replaced the arms with ones from a Legacy Ugnaught. Afterwards he was repainted with acrylic colours.
Though she (! ;)) was originally released on a SW card she isn't actually part of the movie, but rather the - dreaded - Holiday Special. In addition, there's been a lot of confusion regarding the name in the past (Snaggletooth, Zutton, Zutmore)...all contributing to a pretty interesting character. ;)

It always bugged me Chewie was only released on a ROTJ-card in the Vintage Collection. He was part of the first 12, after all... I've only slightly modified the figure and the Bowcaster, main job here was to repaint him, which has been lots of fun... :)
I've used a new picture for the cardback, never noticed the bow was missing on Kenner's cardback before - also the quality is better/higher now. The color field was enlarged to fit the large-size blister.
With this figure, the "first 12" are complete in neo versions now...and only Hammerhead remains to complete the other nine "Star Wars" figures. I'm hoping to complete him soon for a first overview picture... :)

And I have to agree, totally love that about the hobby as well...always something new to discover. :) Working on the cards has been a whole new experience for me...the missing "bow" from the Bowcaster has been one funny surprise, the cable hanging from Obi-Wan's lightsaber is another example...

Also, sometimes I just want to do something new...and there are more than enough opportunities for cool figures Kenner didn't attempt in the good old days. Hasbro added some pretty cool new figures to the Vintage line during their run as well, the more the merrier... ;)
The first one was pretty straight forward...a repaint of the B.A.D. U-3PO, I'd like to buy an "e"...et voila - the not so polite ;) Bespin Droid E-3PO appears...
Several names have been given to this figure so far (Imperial Technician, Scanning Crewman, Scanning Trooper and whatnot ;) ) ... I've prefered Imperial Technician so far (same as in one of the Scanning Crew 2-Packs), so I used that designation for the card... :)

I think they stated once that the TVC was always supposed to only have a short run (and ran too long anyway), something they seemingly agreed upon with Disney. I'm guessing from a strictly legal standpoint they probably could continue the line, but they don't want to upset Disney. But that's unconfirmed...
...back to topic, otherwise I'm gonna start ranting again. ;) Here are the next five designs for my TFA line, #26 to #30.
I hope you guys don't mind my current amount of output, but I've had a holiday week and am really motivated at the moment... How did that Queen song go again? "Don't stop me now..." ;)

Just finished a new card for another figure...I'm trying to complete all Star Wars figures as my first intermediate goal, the last two to do are Hammerhead and Luke Stormtrooper (POTF) - of which I just completed the latter... :D
Parts are: Luke Stormtrooper body (Legacy), head from Black Series Luke Yavin Ceremony, belt from TVC TK-421 (Scanning Crew set, because of the grappling hook ;) ), Black Series E-11 Blaster Rifle, helmet from Mission Series Luke Stormtrooper.
I worked on the torso region to shorten him a bit and sculpted the missing rest of the neck seal. Afterwards he was repainted with acrylics and I designed a new cardback for him:

Been watching your work and its inspired me alot to package my custom figures. I want to make some of these cards for myself and would appreciate any tips on how to start. What do you use to print them out on and what type of card stock is used? If you can add any details into the production that would be cool. ...it's been a while. Sorry for the radio silence, but I've had a small operation in a hospital mid-April and even though it was all planned in advance it still took more time to recover from that than I'd thought before...

Lately things have been real hectic here (family, work etc.) lately, so I didn't get to do much new figure customising. I'm currently focusing on completing my own collection of TFA vintage-style figures...and even though those are only 5POAs, I really like the results so far. GRAND ADMIRAL THRAWN
One of my absolute favorite characters....regardless of whether you're calling it EU or "Legends" now... ;) In Germany they produced an absolutely brilliant audio drama of the Thrawn trilogy (14 CDs total, featuring all the original German voice actors from the OT movies) which still is a favorite of mine on long car trips... :)
The figure in the original Hasbro 3,75" figure, I removed the Ysalamiri because it's not on the cardback picture either. No worries, it's being kept safely and animal-friendly on a small tree in my bits box... ;)

At the moment I'm concentrating on carding more figures...I don't have enough time for ambitious conversions/repaints due to family/house/work (in no particular order ;) ). I'll do a bit of customizing/repainting as long as it's necessary for the figure, but there's just so much (fun things) to do, so little time... ;)

It's one of the (if not the) most iconic and important scenes in the original trilogy....and as any other Star Wars collector, I have a more than ample stack of Vader figures (Hasbro sure shelled out a lot of them over the years ;) )...so why not kill two birds with one stone?

Thanks Artie! :D Me too, would have been a cool thing for Kenner and/or Hasbro to use new pictures from the movies for the repacks of "older" figures on later movies cards (ESB / ROTJ). I think there are only five or six ROTJ cards where they did this (new pics, although not all of the pics are from ROTJ). ESB and/or ROTJ specific Stormtroopers, Imperial Navy Troopers, C-3POs etc. Hmmm......I think I just had an idea for some more cardbacks... ;)
...ah, the beauty of hindsight. ;) I could have thought of this day a bit earlier to shoot a pic of my custom 12backs...or some more Star Wars figures...but alas, I spent my time working on two more ESB figures. Well, happy Birthday to Star Wars, anyway... ;D :)
So now, let's switch over to the icy wastes of Hoth, where Rebels and Imperials are battling it out in a fierce fight. ;) I thought it fitting to complete these two together somehow...
Legacy Rebel Hoth Soldier, new head and modified helmet/scarf combo, artillery remote from the "Search for Luke Skywalker" figure set, partially repainted Real happy I found the original source pic for Kenner's vintage Rebel Soldier, as well. That way I could "demirror" it (the Grenades are now on the right side, literally) for my cardback...
Black Series figure, modified helmet (discs), partially repainted (especially gloss varnish for helmet and armor)

Thanks a lot! :) The video was kind of an afterthought, I mainly wanted to take photos of everything together for once. Then I thought about doing a video...mybe with some music in the background. After three tries I was finally able to time that zoom to the music...thought it was a nice surprise effect... ;)

Star Wars - LEGENDS - Mara Jade
My next Vintage Collection addition, had a lot of fun designing the card and customising the figure, since I'm a big fan of the Thrawn trilogy... :)
I used a Black Series Mara Jade figure with a new head from a Marvel Black Widow (repainted). The cloak is from a SAGA Lando Calrissian (Death Star Attack) and was shortened slightly. No idea why her mouth looks a bit weird on the closeup pic...somehow her upper lip vanishes in the darker colour below it seems, making her look as of her mouth was wide open. Doesn't look that weird in real life, fortunately... ;)
Here's the finished figure on the custom cardback I did for her:

Thanks Tamer! :D I was such a big fan of Decipher's SWCCG (a long, long time ago ;) ) and her portrayal of that character was a really big event...I think I still have an autographed Mara Jade SWCCG card I won at a tournament somewhere...
Her mouth is agape at how much the figure/cardback blow Hasbro's efforts out of the water. Great work.

It's currently fun to alternate between "missing" Kenner figures (in the Vintage Collection) and figures that were never published in the vintage line ('77 - '85) at all. I think I'm gonna keep that up for a while... :) So, next up:
Return Of The Jedi - A-Wing Pilot
Base figure is a TVC Mon Calamari Pilot (the only pilot figure with the correct flight dress / gear). Neck repainted, new head (TVC AT-AT Commander), new gloves (from another pilot), new helmet (A-Wing Pilot, partially repainted), modern "Endor Gun".
And here he is on the finished cardback. I added the Star Destroyers in the background to make the scene a bit more interesting...

Some more love for my favorite movie of the trilogy - ESB - today. :) I've finished two more custom Vintage Collection figures...the first one is an update (Rebel Commander) and the second one "new" (Admiral Piett).

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK - JEROEN WEBB (REBEL COMMANDER)
Hoth Rebel Soldier (Legacy) body, arms and head from TVC Rebel Soldier (Echo Base Battle Gear). Some touchups on head/scarf. For the cardback, I wanted to use his correct name (with his vintage designation in brackets) and the same pic Kenner used...but with better quality. ;) It's a screencap from ESB that I've modified a bit.
Actually this is the first custom I ever attempted (about two years ago), this was my start into the customising hobby... ;D SAGA Admiral Ozzel body with POTF Admiral Piett head. I gave his head a new paintjob, though...wasn't really satisfied with the one from two years ago. I would have loved him as a TVC figure...he's one of the only recurring Imperial officers, after all. The pic is another screencap from ESB.

ROTJ - Han Solo (in Carbonite)
The Carbonite block is the current version from the Black Series, which I fully repainted. It was a fun little project and I think the block looks a lot less like plastic now... Here's the finished version on a new custom cardback:

First of all thanks....and about htinking alike - lol...indeed. Thought the same during your recent update, since I had just finished a Spacetrooper cardback a few days before that... ;) The Carbonite Han was an easy but effective repaint, methinks...I started with a dark metal colour and slowly lightened it to silver with several layers of drybrushing. A few more details on the side consoles and he was finished...
I'll post an update with some new cardback designs later today...

...an here's the update I talked about earlier. :) I've finished 15 new cardback designs (4 from ANH, 4 from ESB, 7 from ROTJ) as well as a new/updated reverse side for my TFA cardbacks (now with all 40 current figures). Some of the cards are updates to vintage cardbacks I still needed for my completion run of the Vintage Collection...most of them are new designs that I just had fun doing, though... :)

I always wondered why they used the same pics with the new film logos... Still missing are especially Navy Troopers (ESB / ROTJ) and I want to redo my SW TIE Pilot...

I'm currently varying wildly between - cards I need (for my Vintage Collection run...e.g. in this batch R2, Chirpa, C-3PO) - cards I've already finished figures for (e.g. Tarkin, 5D6-RA-7) - cards for my repack sub-theme (e.g. AT-AT Driver, Stormtrooper) and - cards I always wanted to do (e.g. Biker Scout, Bomber Pilot, Spacetrooper)
...it's simply very relaxing (and fun) to just design whatever I feel like next at the moment... ;) ...and the good thing is I've already got a few things finished so I can post an update every two days or so (like later today)... ;D

I've finished three more Vintage Collection cards...this time from Return Of The Jedi...
The first two are recards of "missing" TVC figures for which I updated the quality of the cards...Bib Fortuna and Imperial Gunner. The Imperial Gunner is a composite pic with a new background, but I think the end result came out pretty nicely...

Lol....indeed Artie. ;) Currently I'll continue focusing on getting the first vintage line updated (28 of 52 left)...but it's also a lot of fun to do other characters. Always enjoy especially the more obscure characters you're doing, great work! :)

I've finished another addition to my Legends figures from the Thrawn trilogy...a sympathetic Bothan politician we've all come to love.......not. ;)
The figure is from the Legacy comic pack, I've touched him up in a few places, especially the head and the shoulder pads, to match his apperance better to the card picture.
Apart from that I'm currently working on something new that's related to Germany and vintage figures, but I'm not done yet and having lots of problems with the material at the moment (I'm beginning to hate satin photo paper ;) )...

Well...there were several vintage lines worldwide. The UK had Palitoy, France Meccano, Mexico Lili Ledy etc... In Germany the distributor was Parker, years ago pics surfaced of this flyer with mockups:

...note the Stormtrooper on the far right with a German logo. ;) However, this concept seems to never have been realized....well, until now, that is. ;) I've designed a new front and reverse side (full German text) for the first 12... I'm currently trying out materials because I'm using satin photo paper (instead of glossy) for the first time...

Didn't have time to post an update before because I was away for a congress...I have now finished the designs for all of the "first 12" and was able to produce 8 of those in the meantime. I deliberately went with the same images as the original Kenner cardbacks for these, even though I'd personally probably prefer a few different pics (Vader, Obi-Wan, mirrored Luke, to name some) I thought it important to make these as vintage-looking as I could achieve (they're still clearly identifiable as customs, after all). I therefore did a few variant versions (haven't uploaded those yet) as well, for example Vader with a red saber instead of a pink one and a different Obi-Wan. So, without further ado, here they are:

Hi guys, I've been really busy in real life lately due to a future job change on my part (in December), so I didn't really have time for a lot the last weeks. Now, as I'm comfortably sitting in a train on the way home, how to better spend the time with a nice and big update... ;)
I was able to do some more additions to my Vintage Collection lineup, here they are:
VINTAGE COLLECTION
Seven more cards were finished after my last update, four updates of classic cards and a few "new" ones. This also means I now have finished more than half of my goal of updating the 52 missing Kenner figures...28 down, 24 to go... ;D
The updates are Warok, Teebo, Boushh and Artoo (pop-up lightsaber), though I've actually kind of done two cards for the latter - one version of Artoo uses the pic from the vintage POTF cardback, the other one the designation and figure... ;)
As a lover of all things Imperial, I always wanted to do a card for a 181st TIE Interceptor pilot. It's a composite of several elements and I'm quite happy with the end result:

Sorry for my current lack of constant updates, but so many things are going on simultaneously at the time that it's hard for me to keep up... ;)
I've started recarding the first batch of Rogue One figures. I have six cards finished so far for the first wave of single and 2-Pack-figures....here are numbers #01 to #03:
Jyn hasn't been modified, but I did give here an E-11 to match the pic. Also the respiratory unit bugged me, because it's cast in a single piece of transparent plastic, complete with hose, head straps and bottle...so I wanted to correct that. Things kind of escalated after I started painting pieces of it, so the end result was a full repaint... ;)
I adore the new helmet sculpt, I think it's the best Hasbro's done so far. Now if only the joints were more articulated... ;) I did repaint some areas of him, the belly buttons have been painted as well as some parts of the helmet and the E-11 (for a more metallic appearance).

Thanks a lot Tamer! :) It's actually really a lot fun to repaint those 5POA figures - the sculpt is great, not that many problems with paint rub - and since they're intended to get carded again the articulation isn't that much of a problem.

Thanks JDeck! :) I think they fixed the paint apps (belly dots) for the rerelease in the Baze/Stormtrooper 2-Pack...but that was really quick to do. I recarded him again later, since I also worked on the head joint a bit - I think the figure looks even better when the helmet sits tighter on the shoulders (and it only took half a minute with the Dremel to do that):

Last but not least: I've completed sets and single cards of the first 12 Rogue One cards (vintage-style) for sale. High-quality, professionally printed double-sided cards. These are the first cards I've had printed at a professional printing agency now - and I'm real happy with the printing quality... :D
Each card will be supplied with a blister (self-adhesive) for the figure.
10 sets have been printed, I still have a few available at the moment. In addition, I have a few extra single cards, but these are subject to availability, so I can't guarantee I can provide every combination...

...some may remember the "Krieg der Sterne" project I talked about a while back...well, I finished it in the meantime. ;D So now, it's back from the newest vintage-style figures (Rogue One) back to the beginning....the "first 12", to be precise.
The German distributor for the Star Wars minifigures was Parker (a subsidiary of General Mills). They had planned to do a line of German cards to go with the figures (like Meccano, Takara, Harbert etc.) under the German designation "Krieg der Sterne", but those plans never surpassed the concept stage, only a few ads exist with pics of a mockup "KdS"-Stormtrooper.
Since I've started collecting vintage figures a while ago (I've been more of a modern collector until lately, tbh) I always wanted something special to display them...so I finished a "what if" version of the German Parker cards. Everything was lovingly translated into German (front and reverse "12back" side), all under the "Krieg der Sterne" logo.
Here are the first six completed (of 12) cards...like the Rogue One set these have been printed at a professional printing agency... :)

Thanks a lot! :) The basic technique - with a fine brush - is as follows: paint the white of the eye (white line from middle to outside); small color dot in the middle of each line (it's important no white can be seen over or under the color, or the figure looks like it's staring); very small black dot in the middle of the color dot; correct the outllne of the eye; gloss varnish. :)

Hi Artie, that one was a lot of fun to do actually. I gave Bill Hargreaves one as a present when we met at Saber Con in December, I thought it was a cool idea because he not only built it but also operated it in the movie.... :)
I recently reached 1138 likes for my Facebook page, which I thought was a really good reason for a giveaway....but my regular work interfered, so I didn't have time for it - until now. 😁

For the Empire! There've been just so many cool and iconic new Stormtrooper pics for Rogue One, so I didn't want to use just one of those... ;) The jungle pic is a variant of my #03 Stormtrooper, I did a separate designation for the Jedha Stormtrooper because of the different Blaster rifle.

A few months ago I'd have agreed in regards to super-articulation...now however I have to say I'm quite satisfied with the current sculpts (even if only 5POA), so I'm not that focused on SA figures anymore. That...and I just don't have enough time to customize all of those from 5POA to SA...lol ;)
I got hold of a single head cast a few months ago, always wanted to use it to as a small homage to this specific cameo... :) I think the sculpt is quite good, actually...
I'm only missing one figure now...Luke (of course). Currently sourcing some material, hoping to have it done soon...so I can then call TFA "done" and move on to other things....already preparing for the 40th anniversary of SW at the moment, for example... ;)

Hi everyone, I noticed today that a lot of pics in the thread were broken since the links hadn't been updated. I just went through all the pages, almost all the pics should be restored now... :)
Also, here's something new, I'm currently finishing a few more figures...
I used the regular Black Series Hasbro figure, but I replaced the soft goods for the ones from the POTF Princess Leia collection figure...they're really nice and shiny... :)

So....this means I will stop producing custom cards, since Hasbro's stepping in again. ....lol, just joking of course. ;) I'm honestly happy that more Vintage Collection is coming - and I'm certain there'll be lots of room for more cool customs... :)

The thing I celebrate most is your design of Rey (Jakku Scavenger) on Vintage Card! This is a direct comparison of your pieces of art compared to what Hasbro does (some years later...). I am glad Hasbro woke up...finally Disney let them...

Thanks Tamer! :) I don't think that I was the main source of inspiration, especially since there are a few people out there who produce(d) this card - but maybe they at least took a small hint from the customizing community this time and added it to the voices of all the people who wanted TVC to return...wouldn't that be cool? :) I have to say I'm not totally happy with their logo choice, though...why not use the movie logo?

Definitely. But I'm quite hopeful regarding this, since Hasbro's figure quality has increased again in the meantime. I've even taken quite a liking to the 5POA Rogue One figures because of the great sculpts....but only when they're on card where the static poses don't matter... ;)

Another great artwork on the Vintage Card! Malakili is actually one of my favourite figures of the Legacy Collection!
And I agree with you! Although I am not a fan of 5POA at all, I still like the idea of "Vintage nostalgia" - this was one of Hasbro's points when they (re-)introduced the 5POA Figures. It's obvious that they primarily wanted/had to cut production costs...
But as you said most the sculpts of Hasbro's figures are very nice, indeed! Some of the details only come out when you customize/repaint them, though. And all of them look superb on your custom vintage cards!

Let's return to Star Wars again...this was a fun figure I wanted to do for quite some time:
Like many fans I thought it a pity that Chewie never received a medal after the Battle of Yavin. Fortunately "Star Wars Revisited", which I consider as the definitive version of SW (next to the "Despecialized Edition", of course), fixed this. ;) The figure itself was easy to do, I removed the head with boil-and-pop, shortened the head peg slightly, gave him his medal, reattached the head...et voila. :)

I'll definitely keep 'em coming, no worries... ;) I've just done a "head count" this weekend, if I didn't miscount I'm currently at 143 completed customs...and more are on the way... :D Speaking of which:
Luke's always the one hanging around....with his friends at Tosche Station....at Chalmun's Cantina...on Hoth... ;) This was a fun figure to do, I thought it appropriate to rotate it 180° so it matches the picture better... ;) Apart from that it's a standard Black Series Hasbro figure on one of my custom cardbacks... :)

Oh my...it's been ages again since I last had the chance to update here - sorry for that. So - let's start with my most recent project - a new reverse side for my The Vintage Collection custom cardbacks... :)
The "definitive" vintage reverse side for me is Kenner's POTF cardback featuring all figures on a yellow background. So I always wanted to update that to a modern version - with modern figures. However, the necessary work hours to realize this had always kept me from trying this....until now, that is. ;)
So - based on Kenner's classic design, here are all 96 modern equivalents (including a few necessary customs) of the complete Kenner lineup for the original trilogy... More than 115 layers in Photoshop, my most ambitious reverse side yet...can't wait to get this printed... :D

I recently stumbled upon the idea to use TVC Remnant Stormtroopers as the basis for new Sandtroopers - and I gotta admit, I love how those turned out. 😃 The currently available Sandtroopers simply don't have the right helmet... Hasbro's new TVC Stormtroopers finally have the "right" Stormtrooper helmet that isn't deformed or anything, but spot on...
The conversion is really easy to do:
#1 - Take a TVC Remnant Stormtrooper and drill a small hole in the back (https://www.lichtgeschwindigkeit.de/download/file.php?id=68035&mode=view)
#2 - insert the Sandtrooper backpack from a "regular" Hasbro Stormtrooper / attach a Sandtrooper pauldron (any color) / reattach the head (https://www.lichtgeschwindigkeit.de/download/file.php?id=68038&mode=view)
(#4 - put it on a custom TVC cardback (optional 😉)) (https://www.lichtgeschwindigkeit.de/download/file.php?id=68033&t=1)

Well, a couple weeks ago I had the only remnant Stormie I got in hand. I'm going to customize the carbonized one that I got from TungHori.
I think this idea is as obvious as it is brilliant. And yet I'm sure I would never had the idea to make a Sandtrooper out of it. The added parts look fantastic on it. And your custom cardback is just the cherry on the pie. You also got a professional tool there. As a dental technician I always love seeing stuff like this. Let's drill some more! Thanks for sharing this awesome kit-bash!
