Curious about the Star Destroyer and Falcon. I've heard the Star Destroyer is a playset, one can assume the Falcon is as well? Interesting for sure. Still holding out hope for some Action Fleet ships.

Yeah, I was hoping for some action fleet action too.

Not sure about those sets, but any form of playset would be nice.

They have been showing up all over eBay today!

The Force Awakens Figures hit eBay!

Well the TIE Fighter is out of the proverbial Hangar as we see our first listings (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575055288&toolid=10001&campid=5337377665&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FStar-Wars-The-Force-Awakens-Figure-Lot-Kylo-Ren-Rey-Finn-Captain-Phasma-EPVII-%2F161793526910%3Fhash%3Ditem25aba54c7e) for The Force Awakens Merchandise today. Of course we knew that the release date probably wouldn't hold everywhere as retail people in many places wouldn't adhere to the date for Force Friday. Most of it seems centered in the states of WV and OH from what I have been able to quickly glean (kinda thought it would be Asian Sellers) and unfortunately most of the merchandise I have seen seems to be 5 POA for the 3.75" Line. Click here (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575055288&toolid=10001&campid=5337377665&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_odkw%3Dstar%2Bwars%2Bthe%2Bforce%2Bawakens%26_osacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.A0.H0.Xstar%2Bwars%2Bthe%2Bforce%2B%2Bawakens%2Baction%2Bfigures.TRS1%26_nkw%3Dstar%2Bwars%2Bthe%2Bforce%2B%2Bawakens%2Baction%2Bfigures%26_sacat%3D0) to see the latest eBay Search for The Force Awakens Figures. Some of them look really cool even if they are 5 POA!

I think they look pretty good. It shows you don't need super articulation to have a good looking figure, sometimes it looks better without super articulation. I like the cardbacks too. They almost look like comic book covers. If I were a collector I'd display them in package.
Title: Re: TFA Rumor Report
Post by: Goldleaderone on August 13, 2015, 06:32:24 PM
I've been hesitant with these figures after hearing they won't be fully articulated. After seeing the picture above I may consider picking some up now. The figures do look good and I really love the cardbacks. I would like to see these in person first, however. I wonder if Poe's helmet is removable, it looks like its molded on.

There is a possibility of these figures being updated with better articulation down the line. I'm just glad they don't look buff like the POTF figures.

It took me like 10 minutes to find the names of the figures on the cardbacks lol.

I'm not convinced I need to spend money on this tripe.

Fat chance on me buying a bunch of that crap.
Title: Re: TFA Rumor Report
Post by: JDeck on August 15, 2015, 01:40:54 PM
They're more or less made for kids. This is the movie of their generation. Kids or their parents won't pay $13 american for a figure they'll end up breaking the arms off or whatever. I'm positive Hasbro will make 14 poa ep.7 figures, the movie hasn't even come out yet. As of right now I won't drop $20 on 6" Finn he looks boring as crap. I just want to see the movie before I buy the merch. I wouldn't buy a Luke Skywalker figure if I'd never seen star wars.  I like these because of the cardback art , the figures alone are just toys.

John_Solo posted these images of Poe Dameron over at Rebelscum. Sadly the helmet is not removable, and all the accessories are molded on. I'm shocked to see he has a working holster! You compare this figure to Finn and its like Poe was made from a different company. And that yellow visor? Ugh.

More information guys!

http://makingstarwars.net/2015/08/makingstarwars-nets-star-wars-the-force-awakens-hasbro-line-details/

So Poe has 2 X-wings? The black one for Black Squadron and the white and blue one we saw in the trailers. Interesting, looking forward to finding out more. I'm hoping this Poe figure has a removable helmet and is fully articulated.

Not really liking the nerf darts on the Falcon though.

Not really liking the Falcon with those nerf darts. I feel the Falcon should be weathered more. The X-wing looks like it has the POTF mold, but it seems the Poe figure has a removable helmet, plus the visor is not that bright yellow color on the other figure. I do like that black paint design though.

hasbro is making saving some money very easy. I am interested in some of those small vehicles tho. that xwing can suck it. only way thats coming to my house is if my son wants one. its funny that 30 plus years later the xwing i used to play with as a little kid isn't much different than the one he may want to play with. way to take 30 steps back hasblow

Well, what can I say…I’m blown away by…this crap.
So far I have not seen a single toy I’d spend my money on.
My wife will be truly happy, the old man’s not going to buy more little men, because…it’s all 5POA junk.
Let’s be honest here: they are called action figures, not statues. They are meant to be super-articulated, they are meant to be put into action poses.
Somebody who collects them Mint On Card and is happy to store them away in a dark, climate-controlled room to keep them case-fresh and the card wrinkle-free might be happy with the shit Hasbro is throwing us, but the articulation of these figures is exactly like the figures Kenner gave us in…yes, that’s right…1978. People, that’s almost 40 years ago. We have moved on since then.
What was okay back then changed already in the 80s when GI Joe figures showed up with a lot more points of articulation.
Today, in 2015 there is no excuse from any manufacturer to shell out this sub-standard stuff. There is no excuse for an action figure not to be ball-jointed everywhere.
To make a bad thing worse, the paintjobs on these new figures is just as sloppy as the stuff we had back then.

It is not that Hasbro couldn’t make better action figures. There, I said it, ACTION FIGURES (not statues). They showed us with The Vintage Collection and the Black Series what is possible. I expect at least that.
Look at their GI Joe line, these figures are even better articulation-wise and as a bonus come with a ton of accessories.

Check out the lineup of characters in the first wave: where are the aged Han Solo, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia? Nowhere to be seen. Instead they give us Bespin Luke, Darth Vader and Boba Fett.

Whoever is responsible for Star Wars toys at Hasbro should be fired. Today. No questions asked.

Unless there is something super-articulated coming out in my preferred scale, Hasbro will not get a single Buck from me for this crap.
Not a single Buck.
And that’s the way it is.

I edited my above post and included the other pics of the Falcon. I added them in as an attachment so we don't lose them again.

Kurgan I do agree with you on a few things. I'm really disappointed in Hasbro, especially with the nerf darts on the Falcon. Nerf darts?? I think anyone who bought the BMF should stick with that. I hope this isn't from the nerfherder comment Leia made in Empire.

I have a feeling these 5POA figures are just to get some figures out there for the film, then hopefully later the fully articulated figures will come out. No way they just stop making those. As for Luke and Han those figures should be in Wave 2, after the film so its probably not to spoil anything.

Definitely looks like I will be saving a lot of money by not buying anything of the new Star Wars toy line. I hate that new Millenium Falcon with nerf darts, hate hate hate that new First Order Snowspeeder toy (that Snowtrooper gunner wouldn't last 30 seconds in a battle standing up like that ;D).  The only vehicle that I even kinda like is the Black Squadron X-wing and even it looks like something from the POTF2 line from the 90's and the full on kick in the teeth is... 5 poa figures in 2015 ?...C'mon that's just lazy for a major toy line such as Star Wars and for a new movie to boot. I hope super articulated 3 3/4" Force Awakens ACTION figures are coming but not gonna get my hopes up. If no new super articulated Star Wars action figures are in the upcoming future then I am leaning towards possibly going back to 3 3/4" GI Joe action figure collecting...at least those figures can truly be called ACTION FIGURES.

I just remembered what the new First order Snowspeeder reminds me of...Adventure People's Firestar 1 space vehicle from days long ago.

Here's some pics to check out of it. The front of the new First Order snowspeeder and overall shape is what looks similar to this Adventure People vehicle seen here in two different color schemes.

Is that the Falcon that supposed to cost $119!! That is terrible, I remember POTF2 Falcon cost $50 and it looked way better. Of course inflation and what not, but this is cheesy $119 for a nerf gun. Hasbro can name the price people will pay it.

Is this why Disney insisted on an xmas opening, to maximise sales of this tat. I'll buy the stormtroopers for the grandson but that's it.
I expected better vehicle designs for this film, they seem to be edging towards games workshop in style but at least  it's not the oversized toys of the prequels. If only they could adopt GWs squad markings for the army builders.

Here is the full catalog of Force Friday TFA reveals. I am not sure how long that link will stay active, but I can't find any arguments with the folks who are saying this stuff doesn't look too good. What a colossal flop Hasbro is getting ready to have on their hands. Who in their right minds sold hasbro on 5 POA. I don't want to go all Nostradamus here, but woah!

The cheap looking stuff isn't making me itch, Shawn.

When the midnight release of the ROTS line occurred, I was in a walmart with only an inkling of what was coming out.
I did grab some goodies that night and even helped some of my future purchases out of their cases. The best find was a 12 inch grievous which is still MIP and is still somewhat rare.

I don't really feel the magic about what we
have seen of this new line.
So far, the figures and vehicles in this preferred scale do not appeal to me enough to warrant a purchase.
The six inch and titanium stuff looks cool. Don't know if I can validate so much going towards a big tie just because the smaller scale stuff doesn't pull at my wallet and that money would be then, "available"
I'm sure that could have been the deciding factor in this hard headed marketing strategy that appears to be unfolding before us.

Heads without removeable helmets?
Even the stupid, under-articulated Ezra figure from Rebels came with a separate helmet.
I'd order better custom items from Clonehead.

Let's face it: this is a clear step back into 1978 and another slap into the face of the customer. Too bad I'm too far away from a major toy show and a Hasbro panel.

What bugs me is the amount of parents who will succumb to buying this crap for their kids. All Star Wars nostalgia and such.

I don't want to have to make SA conversion kits for these characters.
6 inch releases will be too slow.

It all screams hastily rushed, slapped together and badly planned merchandising. Was the transition bewtween Lucas and Disney too much for Hasbro? Or is Disney banking on things other than action figures now?

Yeah, that is NOT going to be a fun evening...

Just let Paul go first and then you can take care of what little there is of Jeff after that. Dan, thank goodness we have you to be tactful, but also hit the nail on the head. They surely are gonna have to face that the collecting community especially custom artists are going to seriously hate this line. Coupled with the fact that these 5 POA Figures are purported to be cheaper while in reality are anything but I don't see how they can tout how great these are.

You know, they talk about the 5POA being more kid-friendly (see the last Hasbro Q&A).
Maybe for a child between 3 and 4, but are they really watching the movie?
Everybody else loves and wants super-articulation.

I really wonder what kind of weed they smoke at Hasbro's Marketing and Product Management.

Look at it, just look at it!
I feel like I'm back in the good old days when I was little and the rack of Star Wars figures at the local toy store were full of figures.
5POA figures, because that's what Kenner gave us.
But that was...wait...1978. Right?

They actually did some nice sculpting on these new figures and they ruin them by being 5POA and even the straps and stuff being sculpted on.
I can't get over it.
These could really have been cool figures.

Do you know what really ticks me off?
The people who say it's okay with 5POA, we don't open them anyway. They stay carded, mint, climate-controlled whatever...

My wife told me to go and found CAFPOA - Customizers Against Five Points Of Articulation, set up an Facebook page, collect a million likes and flame Hasbro into obedience.
Maybe I'll do that...

My thanks to you, sir. Joined earlier today. Im thinking if enough of us voice our true feelings, Hasbro will be seen for the stuck up, scruffy looking nerf herders they truly are!

Roll we are. I posted on the page a few ideas I had to post some spotlight on the issue and what ISY can do to support this.

Thanks, Tamer.
I am not sure if we are enough to Change Hasbro's train of thought, but if we don't do anything, all we are left to do is bitch and moan and live on the Crumbs Hasbro is feeding us.

This is Commander Kurgan...if you are reading this, you are the resistance.
After all, Rebellion is a good tradition in Star Wars, right?

I'll say this about 5 POA, they're durable. I came across some of my childhood figures and except for a few paint chips the 5POA SW figures were in good condition, but all my Joes were missing limbs. If I had kids I'd totally buy them 5 POA as opposed to super articulated, they're cheaper and will stand wear and tear of daily playtime. These 5poa figures are obviously pointed towards a child demographic. On the WM planogram there are three facings of 3.75 TFA black series figures. The Black series figures are geared towards the 20+ demographic.
This is a picture of the Walmart planagram. If you look at it you will see the TFA Black Series 3.75" (super articulated) figures will be on the shelf. These planagrams have been out for months and if you read the Hasbro Q&As you would know they are continuing Black series in both 6" and 3.75". They just want to keep it under wraps. They don't care about the 5poa figures and kid toys leaking out.

TFA X-Wing and TIE Fighter found at retail in Australia.

Figures are still 5poa but at least have removable helmets.

Also:
Official Disney/Lucasfilm "Force Friday" image released.

Loose pics of the new X-Wing.

It is REALLY tiny, smaller than the original toy from 78.

It is also REALLY rubbery and warped right in the box.

More pics.

The included pilot does not even fit in the cockpit without being crammed in.

Loose pics of the new TIE Fighter.

It is also REALLY tiny and rubbery. Word on the web is that the wing panels will not even hold the ship up without seriously warping even after only a short period of time.

The new version is a 2 seater, although it is supposed to be a forward facing pilot and a rearward facing gunner the toy has both figures sitting side by side facing forward.

The interior looks too small to fit 2 figurea without really cramming them in there.

Wow, Dan, those are some great pics of some not so great products.
That pretty much kills the 3 3/4" line for me altogether.

Seems like the warnings about the flimsy materials didn't take seed a lot like the articulation complaints.

We are going cheaper all the way, by God, and I read this morning where there was an expected 1-5 billion that will be made on sw merchandising alone in the first year after The Force Awakens release.

The only things I was considering picking up was this X-wing, along with the Titaniums and maybe a Micro Machines Falcon. After seeing these pics though I'm really on the fence about this now. Him not fitting in the cockpit is a big blow. The only thing preventing me from making this a definite "no" is the paint job. I really do like the black on the X-wing, but I'm so used to the bigger X-wings we have.

Not sure if I should wait and hope a bigger one gets released (doubt it), skip it or bite the bullet and get it. At least Poe has a removable helmet and not that awful yellow visor on the single carded figure. I guess after everything was revealed it took a bit for things to settle for me and realize what crap we're getting.

Maybe Kids don't require sturdy toys?
I'm really curious to find out who advises Hasbro about their customers' requirements.
That guy needs to be fired, too.

Wow, that X-Wing is awful! I am not even gonna comment further. Talk about a head slap though.

The TIE seems a bit better but rubber wings ain't good either. Thanks for the news Dan.

Like I keep saying these are made for kids the x-wing is designed to bend instead of snapping off. If I'm a parent and I buy my kid a $80 toy that breaks the first day I'd be livid pissed. Unfortunately when all the exclusive vehicles hit the markets collectors complained they were too much like models and not toys now they complain they're too much like toys. So I'm not sure if Hasbro will ever make TBS vehicles. Except for that asinine 6" TIE but that is an extremely limited production product. But Force Friday is tomorrow, I think people will be pleasantly surprised, I think Hasbro has an Ace up their sleeve.

They're cool for people who don't collect figures. I wouldn't mind having them except I'm weary of the half metal half plastic that screams junk. Depending on the quality I'd get the two stormtroopers meybe bb8, but I'd have to see them in person. If they're only 10 bucks you know they're junk.

So 3 3/4" Black Series goes to WalMart as an exclusive...cool.
Happy hunting, happy scalping.
Since Wal Mart doesn't exist in civilized European countries we won't see them anywhere. Prices for direct imports will be astronomical.

"Vintage" styled figure (5POA or what?) exclusive to TRU.

Hasbro, what you do is beyond stupid.

Sounds like scaled down waves of those exclusives as well.

Seems silly we can't have one of these floating around on a shelf today that we could pick up.

Looks like us Europeans will need US-based dealers (like in dope dealers) in order to get those SA 3 3/4" exclusive lines from Wal Mart and probably TRU.
Prices in Europe will be easily beyond the 18 Dollar-mark for a Black Series figure. I estimate
19 EUR if they are not carried by a major retailer over here.

What's with the Amazon exclusive 6" stormtrooper 4-pack, why is the Imperial trooper covered in black cow prints. Other than that its kind of a good deal $79.99 for four figures the TFA trooper has that pauldron I haven't seen anywhere else.

Greetings guys and how's everyone doing? I have not been on here for a long time. So, whats new to what's to come in years to come. Is the super articulated 3.75 figures still going to be around? I'm hearing The Vintage line is returning.
