Title: StarAlien70's custom figures
Post by: StarAlien70 on May 20, 2015, 01:39:42 PM
Hi, I'll start off with some figures from my Cantina model.

Tonnika Sisters:
Mainly from Ayy Vida (Star Wars Saga 2003 no.38) with head piece taken off and replaced with thick black thread for hair.
Feet replaced with Aurra Sing's (POTJ 2001) boots.
Cuffs and collars: paper cut to shape, stuck on and painted.
I cut and altered an arm on each figure to hold the Hookah pipe better.
(I still need to make belts and put the red pattern on the garters)

Spaceman - 'Cantina Dude':
Mainly from Bossk (Saga Legends 2010/11 SL01)
Hands from Darth Maul - Sith Training (Star Wars Saga 2002 no.42)
Helmet from BoShek (POTJ 2002)
Lower legs from Luke - X-Wing Pilot (2009 Legacy SL-17)

More to follow

Nicely done! The Ayy Vida heads work quite well and your modifications and painting are really excellent. Look forward to seeing more.

Just excellent work.
Love the work on the eyes, and really like the hair.  I had thought to use black tassles if I ever got around to doing these two, but your thread is probably the better scale.

Hi, thanks for all your positive comments. Here are another couple of figures from the Cantina, Jenny and Swilla Corey:
Both figures are mainly from Camie Marstrap (Comic 2 pack). Plastic skirts replaced with soft goods.
Jenny's head from Marion Ravenwood (Indiana Jones). Swilla's head from Hermione (Harry Potter) (I know it's not a particularly good likeness, but I just like the look of it).

The images below are a new version I've done of Jenny with a soft goods robe:
The figure on the left is the original Jenny (now intended to be a different Mos Eisley character), with a repainted head from Ysanne Isard (Comic 2 pack).
New jenny is mainly from a repainted Aayla Secura (ROTS 32), with arms and lower legs from Camie Marstrap.
The soft goods robe is modified from a Naboo Pilot (VC72)

Your girls are great. Nice use of parts, paintwork and softgoods. I especially like the Ysanne head and Aayla body combo. I also like the use of Hermione head. Well done!

These are very good. Its too bad they cut Jenny from the movie, I thought the clip was interesting.

These figures look great. I think the Hermione head works pretty good for Swilla (I wish I'd been able to find one or two of these figures, never did though). The Marion head is actually a great likeness.

Hi, thanks for all your positive comments. Here are some more of my Cantina figures Jabba's goons and Yerka Mig

I'm going to spend a bit more time on these 3

Davelynn Schmee:
From 2 different 'Pirates of the Caribbean' figures; mainly from 'Gibbs' with head and coat from 'Blackbeard', altered and repainted.
Boelo:
Mainly from Han in Trench Coat (not sure which version) minus belt/holster.
Head from Chief Bast (TSC Death Star Briefing Multipack) hair repainted slightly.
Holster cut from belt of Rebel Ground Crew (Rebel Transport Speeder) and glued in place.
Bandolier from Anakin (Clone Wars 2003 no.42)
Robe from Episode 1 'Naboo Accessory Set' cut down a bit.
The hat is made from a piece of faux suede.
Gela Yeens:
Mainly from Dr Evazan (TVC 2012 VC57) with waistcoat cut back and repainted to look like it's part of the shirt.
Belt section is twisted back to front to get holster on lefthand side, then repainted (I could do with adding a few ammo pouches to this).
Head from General Tagge (TSC Death Star Briefing Multipack) with moustache painted on.
Bandana/headscarf is a piece of a Darth Maul robe (I think from Episode 1 'Sith Accessory Set').
Goggles (shown below) from Lord Asriel (Golden Compass).
(Hasbro could do with making some separate goggles like the ones stuck on Luke's floppy hat (POTF 1999). Does anyone know of any figures that have this style?)
Bandolier from Kithaba (TVC 2012 VC56).
Waistcoat from Greedo (TSC Vintage 2006).

Yerka Mig:
Mainly from Luke 'Ceremonial' (2013 Black Series #05) with repainted shirt and jacket.
Head from General McQuarrie (2008 TAC no.40) added a bit of Sculpey to the forehead then repainted the hair.
Arms from Fixer (2010 Celebration Comic Pack) with painted stripes.
(I hadn't made this figure when I took the pics of my Cantina model.)

Hi, thanks again for all the positive comments. Here's some figures I did a while ago - bit of a departure from the Cantina.

Luke Skywalker (Echo Base Flight Gear)

Medical Centre Departure:
Mainly from Rebel Ground Crew figure - repainted, with lower legs from MH Luke Snowspeeder Pilot, and head from TVC Luke Bespin.
Accessories: Soft goods jacket from POTF Ceremonial Luke (Leia Collection) - dyed with watered acrylic paint.
Leg harness from TAC Tycho Celchu, Chest box from TSC Vintage Luke X-Wing Pilot

Hoth Battle Preparation (below):
Same as above with alternate arms from MH Luke Snowspeeder Pilot, and plastic jacket/waistcoat from POTF Ponda Baba, with plastic collar glued on from POTJ Snowspeeder with figures (Wal-mart Exclusive)

Below with alternate head (I still need to drill this for a better fit)

Below with modified helmet visor

The great thing about the 3 pilot customs below, is that they all swapped lower legs, so none were wasted.

X-Wing Pilot - Yavin Hangar/Ceremony (This represents the pilots with their coveralls untucked from their boots):
Mainly from TSC Vintage Luke X-Wing Pilot, with lower legs from Rebel Ground Crew - repainted, and head from Celebration Comic Pack Laze 'Fixer' Loneozner

Snowspeeder Pilot - Echo Base Pilot Briefing (Represents the snowspeeder pilots at Echo Base, as they don't seem to have cold weather boots on):
Mainly from MH Luke Snowspeeder Pilot, with lower legs from TSC Vintage Luke X-Wing Pilot, and head from TVC Keyan Farlander B-Wing Pilot

Thanks again, hope you like them

So Cool!  It's like they came out of the packaging like this.  An orange soft goods jacket?  Ponda Baba?  I know there was a yellow one from a Luke figure.

I'm surprised Luke pre-Hoth in his flightsuit hasn't been made yet, and you did a great job perfecting it! It's a great looking figure and it looks like it just came out of the packaging. That's one version of Luke I'd like to have. Well done.

Hi, thanks again for your feedback, I really do appreciate it.
Luke in Hoth Gear: I did this modified Hoth hat recently, as I didn't think much of either TVC or TBS versions of the Luke heads. Hope you like it.

Hoth hat from General McQuarrie, with goggles and plastic side scarf cut off, then custom soft goods scarf attached.

I put elastic on as a chinstrap so it would pull together under the chin.

The goggles can be positioned over the eyes or on the hat. I glued elastic to the goggles I'd cut off, then painted a green acrylic wash onto them.

The scarf can be unwound to trail behind, as it appears after Luke is hit by the wampa.

I used the head from snowspeeder Luke, also showing alternate repainted face with wampa attack cuts.

I am currently developing the Luke pilot custom I did, to have wearable/removable equipment. Will post some pics soon.

absolutely fantastic work with luck in hoth gear.  That is the level of detail I love to see in customs.  Superb work.

I also loved the died coat farther up in your thread.  Using watered down acrylic paint is a fantastic idea.  Do you see any issues with that making the jacket more rigid or solid after the paint dries?
Title: Re: StarAlien70's custom figures
Post by: StarAlien70 on June 17, 2015, 03:07:28 PM
Hi, and thanks, spudafett.
Re: the watered down acrylic.
It does tend to stiffen cotton-type material a little, but not so with Luke's jacket. The problem I have found though, since I have just dyed a few other coats, is that the colour can rub off onto the figure; this wasn't noticeable on Luke, with it being orange on orange, but it's a bit of a pain on light coloured figures.

Here are some pics of how I’ve developed the Luke Skywalker (Echo Base Flight Gear) custom that I had done. Now with equipment that can be added and removed. All versions of the Luke pilot figure use the same base figure; which is the Rebel Ground Crew, then I swap and change head, arm and leg parts.

Luke - snowspeeder pilot: I have now padded the collar on the dyed Luke ceremonial jacket and added the chest badge; which is cut from TBS Hoth Luke. Custom flak vest is made from 2 pieces of wide elastic, with a narrow elastic strap wrapping round. The chest box is from TSC Vintage Luke X-Wing Pilot, now fitted with elastic straps. The belt is from TBS Dagobah Luke, with holster cut off. Custom leg harness is made from silver-grey ribbon; coated with PVA glue to prevent fraying.

Luke - X-wing pilot: Lower arms and lower legs from TSC Vintage Luke X-Wing Pilot. Custom belt (I’ll probably put some detailing on this at some point) is from the same ribbon as harness. I think the helmet is from snowspeeder Luke. Head is from TBS ceremonial Luke.

More development of the Luke Pilot custom

Luke - Heir to the Empire: This is my version of the Luke & Mara Jade comic-pack; which these arms are taken from. Legs are the same as the Luke X-wing custom, torso from TBS Dagobah Luke, head from TVC Bespin Luke. The folded coveralls section around the waist is made from pieces of an Episode I Anakin Skywalker plastic Jedi Robe. I plan on making a ‘Splinter Of The Mind’s Eye’ version with black t-shirt

Shown with TBS Mara Jade with a modified head.

Comparison of original TBS Mara Jade and the modified head I have done. With this I pulled off the hair, cut away some of the top underside hair, then repainted the features on the face and glued the hair back on. Hope you like.

Title: Mara Jade update
Post by: StarAlien70 on July 01, 2015, 02:09:48 PM
Here are some pics of the Mara Jade mod, now with a cowl and goggles:

The goggles are cut from TVC Naboo pilot helmet (with goggles down) then glued to a piece of elastic and repainted.
The cowl is made from a piece of chamois leather; wetted and shaped. It was a bit of a test piece really. I like the look of it, but with the hair still being fairly big; it does make the headgear relatively large.

Thanks for all the features and feedback.
Title: Luke Skywalker (Pilot Gear) update
Post by: StarAlien70 on July 01, 2015, 03:02:31 PM
Here is a pic showing the Luke (Echo Base Flight Gear) custom I did, with the alternate pilot parts made to interchange with it:

I've narrowed the pegs on the knee, elbow and waist joints so they can be easily swapped. I would make all the individual figures for these, but I would need to sacrifice a few more Rebel Ground Crew figures to achieve that, and I quite like the idea of this being a kind of 'ultimate Luke pilot set'. (I should have put the 'Heir To The Empire' helmet in there too.)

I have recently done the ‘Splinter Of The Mind’s Eye’ version. This was made using a repainted torso and arms from TBS Luke Dagobah. To try and get a better look to these arms, I have filled in part of the elbow joints and sanded them down a bit; taking off the square edges. They still have as much movement as before, but now have a smoother look. I think they now look more like arms and less like a bundle of joints. The holster is just a temporary one and is the cut off piece from the TBS Luke Dagobah belt; which I used for the Luke snowspeeder version.

Your Luke mega-figure looks really great. I love the work you did to manufacture the scrunched up flight-suit - that was inspired! The modifications to Mara Jade are fabulous, and the chamois was a great idea. I think as a test piece it was a spectacular success.

Excellent modifications on Mara and Luke.

Thanks. I think the shoulder parts being black does help the look of it as well.
I'll try and get around to posting some pics of what the modified arms look like put back on the TBS Luke Dagobah to compare against the originals. I don't understand why Hasbro left the pivot points exposed in the first place. Plus the fact that they put all that effort into making the arms double jointed, yet the knee joints barely bend.

Thanks for all the great comments, features, shares and likes (that Luke Pilot was very popular; shared from 'Imperial Shipyards' by ‘Classic Star Wars’ on Facebook, getting over 400 Likes ;D).
Here are some pics of a couple of Jabba’s Palace figures that I started a while ago and have just finished.
A generic Skiff Guard, based on Velken Tezeri and Nizuc Bek:

Torso and legs from TBS Vizam. Upper arms from TLC Yarna D’al’ Gargan. Lower arms from Marvel Thor The Dark World Thor figure. Belt/Holster section from SW Saga Lando ‘Jabba’s Sail Barge’. Head from TLC Bail Organa. Helmet from TVC Naboo Royal Guard. All parts repainted.

Customized helmet with knee pad armour cut from SW Saga deluxe Clone Trooper with Speeder Bike. I was thinking of using the forearm armour from a Biker Scout (like the actual Skiff Guard helmet film prop), but I found that the Clone knee pad was more suitable. The strip across the back is synthetic leather with some thread stitched in. The soft goods pieces are all cut from various Jedi robes, then glued in place.

Jabba’s dancer - Jess:

Upper body from POTJ deluxe Princess Leia with Sail Barge Cannon (I’ve just repainted this rather than making it look more screen accurate). Legs from Indiana Jones: Marion Ravenwood (I wasn’t too bothered about articulation on these, so I just glued them in place and filled with putty). Belt made from a strip of synthetic leather. Head from POTJ Aurra Sing. Hair made from cross-stitch thread, individually glued in place (underneath the white layer there is a blue layer all the way around - that took some time to do), pity it doesn't look a bit smoother, but I quite like the 'crimped' look (It could work well on a Laudica custom).

Title: Han Solo Hoth Cap query
Post by: StarAlien70 on July 17, 2015, 08:57:53 AM
Hi. Sorry, if I should be asking this on a reference forum, but I didn't know the best place to put the question.
I am currently modifying a General McQuarrie Hoth cap to use for Han Solo (as I did with the modified Luke Hoth cap), such as cutting the transmitter and goggles off, then making separate goggles.

I would like to know if Han's cap was modified from the regular version?

When Han arrives back from patrol and dismounts his Tauntaun, we see him pull his hood down, then quickly and easily (without it being secured under his chin) take his cap off. From there on it can be seen either in his hand or stuck in his belt. I have looked at screen grabs, and to me, it looks like it has been deliberately shortened and finished off, not just folded under (?).

I have searched for reference to this on costume sites, but not found anything that suggests it's different, and the Sideshow 1/6th scale figure just has a regular version. Does anyone know of anything about this, or could someone point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

Title: Endor Rebels
Post by: StarAlien70 on July 18, 2015, 08:11:53 AM
Here are some pics of customized Endor Rebel Soldiers I did a while ago.

The soft goods jacket is modified from a TVC Rebel Commando trench coat. I shortened it and used the material I had cut off to make the hood. The figure is TVC Rebel Commando with TLC Owen Lars head.

I have cut the bandolier off at the belt, so it can go over the top of the jacket.

Shown here with original and a simple custom Nik Sant: TVC Rebel Commando with repainted head from Indiana Jones - Dr. Henry Jones. Plastic Jacket: Star Wars Saga Endor Rebel Soldier. The soft goods coats have been dyed greener.

I have recently added elastic straps to the backpack.

Wow! Your customs are really good! The completion of the pilot Luke is really good. I love the extras. You are channelling Hasbro there with the Skiff Guard. I'd buy multiples of him. And as for Jess. The hard work and time you have put in to her has really paid off. She is exquisite. Nice work

Title: Han Solo in Hoth Gear
Post by: StarAlien70 on July 23, 2015, 12:53:09 PM
Hi, thanks again for your feedback and features, I really do appreciate them.
Here’s a customized Han in Hoth Gear with soft goods coat, to go with the Luke in Hoth Gear I did with the modified Hoth cap.

Han Solo in Hoth Gear: The base figure is a TBS Luke Hoth. Head from a POTF Commtech Han Solo; modified to fit. Soft goods coat made from an altered TVC Han Endor trench coat; dyed brown with Dylon (I’ve given up on watered down acrylic as it rubs off too much on the figure), patches of material stuck on for pocket flaps, chest badge cut from POTF Hoth Rebel Soldier and repainted, hood made from material cut from a TVC Rebel Commando trench coat.

The fur on the hood is pieces trimmed from a leopard pattern fleece blanket glued on in small clumps.

Modified sensor pack (with chamois leather straps) and electrobinoculars (with synthetic leather strap).

Modified TAC General McQuarrie Hoth cap with plastic side scarf, transmitter, and goggles cut off. Goggles then attached to a piece of elastic and repainted. Belt is from TVC Han in trench coat. The additional glove gauntlets are pieces of grey synthetic leather with a glued on commlink button that is cut from the base figure. Hands on 'gloves off' version are from TLC Bail Organa.

I will post some detail pics of this soon.

Title: Re: StarAlien70's custom figures
Post by: StarAlien70 on July 24, 2015, 02:13:17 PM
Hi, thanks again. Here are some more pics with the soft goods coat from the customized Han Solo in Hoth Gear. This time on TVC Han Solo Bespin to make an Echo Base version.

These pics show the base figure for the Han Hoth custom. I was originally going to make a figure using the legs off the Han Hoth from ’The search for Luke Skywalker’ Target multipack, with an upper body off TVC Han Bespin, but I didn’t want to sacrifice them as I only had one of each. So I decided to use TBS Luke Hoth for the figure instead.

After cutting the chest badges off, I repainted the waistcoat for a more generic looking thermal jacket. (I used the lefthand side badge from this on the custom Luke Snowspeeder soft goods jacket.)

I added the glove gauntlets to make them a bit wider and help prevent the coat sleeves from slipping down too much. Using the TBS Luke Hoth figure also meant I could swap the gloved hands for regular hands easier (with them joining at the wrists rather than the whole glove). I used the same grey synthetic leather as the glove gauntlets to make the waist band.

I also wanted to improve the soft goods skirt on the Han Hoth from ’The search for Luke Skywalker’ Target multipack, so I replaced it with a longer one made from pieces of TLC Bail Organa robe (which is quite a good colour match).

Hope you like them and thanks again.

Thanks Tamer for the feature on the 'Custom Action Figure News Episode 79' on YouTube. Thanks everyone for all your great comments.

Gela Yeens updated
I've recently revisited the Gela Yeens custom (the original is on the right for comparison).

(https://farm1.staticflickr.com/330/20249397819_a22b89b311_c.jpg) (https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5334/17026936933_093f303a19_c.jpg)

As previous version, mainly from repainted TVC Dr Evazan, with belt section modified and twisted back to front to get holster on lefthand side. Head from General Tagge (Death Star Briefing Multipack) with moustache painted on. Bandana/headscarf is a piece of a Darth Maul robe (I think from Episode 1 'Sith Accessory Set').
What's new:
The goggles are cut from TVC Naboo pilot helmet (with goggles down) then glued to a piece of elastic and repainted. The ammo pouches on the bandolier are cut from TVC Kithaba’s bandolier, glued to a strip of synthetic leather, then repainted. The ammo pouches on the front of the belt are repainted from a Jango Fett (not sure which one), the back ones are repainted from an Episode II Obi Wan Kenobi (again, not sure which). Waistcoat custom made from chamois leather, distressed with paint and washing.

Here are a couple of recent customs I have made to include in my Cantina Model:
Mos Eisley woman
Does anyone know if this passer-by has been given a character name? She appears a couple of times in the Sandtrooper street searches

Legs repainted from TBS Bastila Shan. Torso and arms repainted from Indiana Jones Marion Ravenwood. Head from TLC Evolutions Rebel Pilot Dorovio Bold. Waistcoat repainted from POTF Princess Leia Hoth. Custom belt made from a strip of synthetic leather.

Rycar Ryjerd

Mainly from repainted Episode I Anakin Skywalker Naboo. Head from Ben Kenobi (I think POTJ) with a bit of modifying; cutting and adding putty to hair, then repainted. Waistcoat from POTF Commtech Han Solo with custom yoke made from card and painted. Holster cut from TBS Luke Dagobah, then glued on.

I hope to get the Cantina out of storage soon and finish the exterior, then I'll post some more pics of that here: http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=9705.0

Title: Female Stormtrooper (Femtrooper Cosplay)
Post by: StarAlien70 on October 10, 2015, 04:57:53 AM
Not posted for a while, thanks for your comments and shares on the cantina figures.
I’ve got a few more customs to post, so I’ll start with this one.

Female Stormtrooper (Femtrooper Cosplay):

I never got the Joker Squad battlepack, so I wanted to make my own female stormtrooper.
I intended it to be just a modified stormtrooper with a female head, but then I started playing around with the parts and decided to base it on a femtrooper cosplay style. I wanted to use mainly stormtrooper parts, but I found the stylised clone parts were more suited (and the Captain Rex chest piece is the soft plastic type which made it easy to swap)

Repainted head from Bastila Shan (TBS) with ponytail removed. Slightly modified chest piece and repainted lower legs from Captain Rex (TLC). Repainted boots from Quorra (Tron Legacy). Arms from Phase II Clone Trooper (Clone Wars). Repainted waist section from Aayla Secura (SWS AOTC) cut off and stuck to the crotch section from Legolas with repainted thighs from Tauriel (both The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey). Belt from Han Solo (Death Star Escape POTJ). Added detail on codpiece made from card and painted. Helmet from Spacetrooper (TLC).

Hope you like it.

PS. Is there a way of breaking open the hard plastic type chest pieces without damaging anything on the figure?
I always have a problem trying to use hard plastic parts, and I can never get the arms out of them; no matter how much I boil them.
Thanks.

I've been loving your OTC characters, but the femtrooper is such an original custom.  She's gorgeous.  I think I even have a pic of her on one of my Pinterest boards.

I did see a technique for cracking a hard plastic chest piece in a tutorial on figurerealm dot com.  You have to get a drill bit under the waist and drill a hole shallowly into the plastic seam on both undersides of the torso.  Then, you have to pry it open with a really small flat head screwdriver.  I haven't tried it myself, but good luck.

The fem-trooper turned out magnificent! The parts all blend seamlessly and your pain applications are brilliant.

As for the hard plastic bodies, I find them a challenge, but when boiled I sometimes find I can separate the body at the seam without breaking them (using a flatblade jewelers screwdriver). Other than that I don't have any magic technique.

Hi. I’ve not put anything new up for a while. but I’ve got a few customs I’ve recently completed. So here’s some images, hope you like…

Ellorrs Madak, Bannis Keeg and Danz Borin

Ellorrs Madak: Uses top half of POTJ Ellorrs Madak, with legs from ROTS 34 Clone Pilot. Bannis Keeg: Mainly from ROTS 22 Kit Fisto, plastic skirt replaced with soft goods, and head from POTJ Ellorrs Madak.

Danz Borin: Body is the same as Ellorrs Madak custom, but this one uses hands from Clone Pilot. Head is modified from an ‘Ogre’ (The Corps! Elite) figure. In the UK it’s a Wilko’s Heroes figure.

I should have one or two more soon. Cheers

This is a TAC Elis Helrot figure, slightly repainted, with the head from a ‘Schleich’ deer figure, slightly remodelled and repainted. The robe is from the Episode I Naboo accessory set.

Hi. I’ve just looked at the date of my last post, just over a year ago. Where does the time go?
I have quite a few customs to show; some totally new, some just improvements. I’ll start with some more Cantina patrons. Labria, Lak Sivrak, and Djas Puhr: All re-use the heads from the original POTF2 and Star Wars Saga collection versions.

Labria: Uses a repainted POTF2 head (which is actually a really well detailed sculpt). Torso and upper leg section from ROTS-14 Chancellor Palpatine, lower legs from Tron Legacy - Jarvis. Jacket from Dr Who (Matt Smith - green jacket) with extra shoulder bits added. Arms from Fixer Loneozner (Comic 2-Pack), with hands from TVC Bom Vimdin. Belt and holsters from Black Widow figure from Avengers AOU 2-pack w/Captain America. Scarf made from part of TBS #18 Mosep Binneed's hair and part of hood from TBS #20 2-pack Jawa.

Lak Sivrak: Uses a repainted POTF2 head, hands and feet. Torso is made up from a TBS #20 2-pack Jawa with parts of the Jawa’s skirt glued on. Arms also from the same Jawa. Legs from Indiana Jones - Dr Henry Jones.

Djas Puhr: TVC Bom Vimdin figure with Star Wars Saga collection 02/40 Djas Puhr head drilled out to fit the peg. I sanded the studs on the torso so it was flat, then applied pieces of synthetic leather. The lines were made by scoring the material before I glued it to the figure.

Hi. Thanks for all the comments. Here’s some more Cantina Patrons.

Custom Saurins - Sia'torr Kal Fas and Hrchek Kal Fas (is that the right way round?): These don't actually use any parts from TLC version; I only managed to get one of those, and as there wasn't much that was screen accurate with it, I decided to do my own. Both use a Bossk head: 1 from 2010 Saga Legends SL-01, the other from Star Wars Saga collection 04/18. torsos are from Dr Who (Matt Smith - green jacket) figure. Arms from TBS Cassian Andor, the hands are also from the same Dr Who, with glue added for texture, then painted. Legs and belts from TLC Bane Malar. Jackets from TBS Toryn Farr.

Custom Garouf Lafoe: POTJ Rebel Trooper with Star Wars Saga collection Admiral Ozzel (04//16) head. Cap from Indiana Jones German Soldier figure, with goggles cut from Rogue One Jyn Erso (Eadu). Jacket modified from Dr Who (Matt Smith green jacket) figure.

Custom bald local (sat where Luke falls into the table. He also walks by when Han leaves the Cantina): Head is a modified POTF Admiral Motti. Torso, upper arms and skirt from POTJ Ben Kenobi. Legs from OTC Cantina 3-pack Ponda Baba. Hands from Ben from the same 3-pack. Forearms from TVC Bom Vimdin.

Custom ugly local (stood next to Chewbacca at the bar): Mainly an Indiana Jones Cemetery Warrior figure, with arms from Dr Henry Jones, and a modified POTF Dr Evazan head.

Thanks again.

Excellent customs and thanks for the recipes.
Dang, you use expensive fodder, but I can't deny the results are worth it.

Question, forgive my OCD.
Is the last custom 'unnamed ugly man #1' or 'unnamed local farmer'?

I actually managed to get some TBS Cassian's fairly cheap.
To answer your question: He's the unnamed local farmer, he's on Chewbacca's right at the bar and he's in the background with Merc Sunlet when Ben lights up.

Wooooow, I am amazed by all your cantina aliens! Again, thank you very much for sharing the recipes! I haven't managed to take a figure apart to use parts of it, yet. Do you just pull them apart or do you dremel them?
I especially like the two Trandoshans! The paint job and the parts you used for them are just perfect! And I think you spelled them correctly! ;) Hrcheck Kal Fas - fantastic to pronounce!
They all turned out great! You made a great choice of parts to use for this series of customs!
My personal favourite of this series is the "ugly local" aka "unnamed local farmer"! He just perfectly fits to Ben's description while he introduces Mos Eisley to Luke!
"Mos Eisley Spaceport - you'll never find a more rigid hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious!"

Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!

Hi. Thanks again for all the comments. I don't often put work in progress images on, usually because I get carried away making something I forget to take pictures, but here's a few WIP for my updated head for Boelo. It uses a Jawa head from TBS Jawa 2-pack. The face is a separate piece that pops off, then I drilled out the inside.

(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4298/35464748463_d9b45bbf6b_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4312/35874705020_a7e64dcfdc_z.jpg)

Below shows a complete TBS Jawa head next to the drilled out version fitted on the Chief Bast head (Death Star Briefing set). I used the excess piece I cut from the hood as part of the scarf on the Labria custom I made.

(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4325/35464755903_2bb1cd3345_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4327/35464753053_772dcd2853_z.jpg)

I will post the finished version soon, with updated versions of the other two henchmen.

Body from VSC Han in Trench Coat with lower legs from TBS Luke Yavin. Arms from TLC Agen Kolar with hands from TVC Dr Evazan. Holster cut from belt of Rebel Ground Crew. Overcoat modified from Episode I Naboo accessory pack. Modified waistcoat from Dr Who (Matt Smith - Green Jacket).

Stan,

These are superb.  I think Davelynn is as good a custom as I have seen.  The hair and head don’t have an easy switch. The image of the character are difficult or were difficult to find.

Each version has gotten better. A true evolution of a figure.

Really well done.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Here’s some more Cantina/Mos Eisley characters.

Custom Braconnor Bakiska: Mainly a modified Game Of Thrones White Walker with head combined with hood cut from POTF Flashback Ben Kenobi head. Scarf from TAC Elis Helrot. Robe from TVC 3-Pack Tusken Raider.

Custom Arleil Schous: Head modified from TAC Voolvif Monn. Torso from POTJ Zutton, with arms modified from Star Wars Saga Plo Koon. Legs from TVC Bom Vimdin, with holster and blaster from TBS Luke Yavin.

After seeing yet another version of the black & white Cantina photos of the whole bar, I updated the hair on the guy who’s sat where Luke falls into the table.

Here’s some background characters from around Mos Eisley. The first one is seen walking past the sandtroopers door to door search in the outtake version. He’s wearing what I think is the same jacket as the guy who’s sat at the back of the Cantina talking to Merc Sunlet and a Snivvian, he can be seen, just about, in black and white photos behind the table of the Rodian and Swilla Corey.

Mainly a modified Star Wars Saga Lt. Dannl Faytonni, with a POTJ Bespin Guard head. Boots from Star Wars Saga 03/39 Obi-Wan.

(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4524/38881298412_123490b983_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4582/38881297102_3992995907_z.jpg)

The young farmer type from the scenes of the Landspeeder approach to the Cantina: Mainly from Comic Pack Laze Fixer Loneozner, with skirt from POTF Commtech Luke, and arms from TVC Dr Evazan, hands from Pirates of the Caribbean Gibbs. Hat from POTF Flashback Luke.

The old local from the Mos Eisley set scenes: Torso, arms and skirt from TAC Luke farmer. Head from TAC General McQuarrie. Legs from TAC Naboo Soldier. Hat cut from some really cheap combat figures (?). Custom soft goods tunic.

Thanks again

Left Trooper: Head from Marvel Infinite Series Shanna. Slightly modified chest piece and lower legs from Clone Wars No.5 Clone Trooper. Arms from Clone Wars Phase II Clone Trooper. Waist section from Star Wars Saga Aayla Secura cut off and stuck to the hip section from Thorin Oakenshield - The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Thighs and boots from Tron Legacy Quorra.

Boudi Qara - Female Mandalorian: Body and arms modified from 'Snakebite' The Corps! Elite, in the UK they're Wilko Heroes. Legs from Marvel Infinte Series Shanna. Head modified from TAC Comic 2-Pack Deena Shan, combined with hair from POTJ Aurra Sing. Gauntlets, belt section, knee armour and boot pockets from POTJ 300th figure Boba Fett. Hands from TLC Pons Limbic. Holster from TBS Luke Yavin. Jetpack modified from TVC 3-pack Boba Fett. Custom soft goods poncho.

Right Trooper: Head modified from TBS Bastila Shan. Slightly modified chest piece and lower legs from TLC Captain Rex. Arms from Clone Wars Phase II Clone Trooper. Below Left: alternate version with unaltered head from TAC Comic 2-Pack Deena Shan, and headset from TVC Jango Fett. Below Right: Same, with drilled out head from POTJ 300th figure Boba Fett to make it a removable helmet (I prefer the size of this helmet to the removable TVC 3-pack version).

Thanks for your comments, glad you like the EU customs. Here’s a customised Dewback and Rider.
Customised POTF2 Dewback: Partial repaint with added fur. Modified POTF2 Dewback Prod. Custom reins, bit, and stirrups. Custom panniers; made from foamcore, covered in paper and felt panel. Existing panniers also fitted with felt.

(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4581/38793223771_80afe4c056_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4535/38793229881_408502ff8b_z.jpg)

Dewback Rider: Repainted VC14 Sandtrooper, with modified helmet, belt and left knee. Added straps to backpack. Ammo pack cut from POTJ Sandtrooper belt attached to strap on backpack (rather than pauldron). Also added small tool pouch to ammo pouch.

Original saddle covered with synthetic leather. Stirrups made from paper clips.

(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4573/38793226991_519dc7e1fc_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4578/38793225611_83fff7c295_z.jpg)

WIP photo of Sandtrooper: This shows magnets I have fitted under the belt to attach the ammo pouches. This allows the Sandtrooper legs to be moved into riding position without the pouches being in the way, it also allows for swapping ammo pouches or leaving them off. The small magnets are taken from the hands of Star Wars Saga Jedi figures.

Back to the Cantina. Custom Silver Spacemen and Updated Cantina Dude.

Custom Silver Spacemen: 1 POTF2 AT-ST Driver and the other is POTF2 Imperial Scanning Crew, both with modified collars to hold helmet. Helmets made from POTF2 Rebel Fleet Trooper and an old 70s spaceman figure. I’ll probably redo these figures at some stage in the future with more articulated figures, I wanted to see how the helmets and collars worked out. I actually think these 2 suits in the film were the other 2 Planet Of The Apes suits, some photos look like they have the same markings at the front and quilting on the legs.

I don’t normally do customs of newer figures that are still ongoing, just in case Hasbro actually produce what I’m working on, but I’d been looking at the basic single carded K-2SO and thought it looked like a figure that could potentially have decent articulation without too much work… and then I got carried away. It went from being a case of just adding elbow and knee joints to this…

Super articulated 1:18 scale K-2SO: Features articulated elbows, wrists, knees, ankles, feet, toes, torso, and completely new ball-hinged shoulder and hip joints. Plus the existing neck and head rotation of the original figure. I think it’s 27 POA.

(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4619/38556879640_65712b3a3f_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4768/26496104668_752e574922_z.jpg)
(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4669/38556880130_1005f96e97_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4629/38556879810_d9c3435197_z.jpg)

Knee, elbow, and ankle joints made by cutting existing non-articulated parts, then fitting appropriate sized metal tubes through to hold them in place (so that there is a hole through the joint). Feet, toes, and wrists done with metal pins. Ball-hinged shoulder and hip joints are from a couple of Tron Legacy figures. All droid parts come from one basic K-2SO.

This K2 articulation is amazing! I also especially like the paint touch ups you did around the shoulder sockets.

One question though, and I think it's a misunderstanding on my part: How exactly do the pins in the elbows, knees, and ankles work? What did the metal part look like or what did you dremel out?

I'm curious because I've been thinking of working on my K2 at some point as well, and hopefully it will turn out something like yours!

I was a bit vague about the joints, I really should make an effort to take more WIP pics. I'll try and take some as soon as I can of a joint taken apart, as they're not glued. Then I can show how the metal tubes fit in.

Thanks for the share, Tamer. Here's some more Rogue One.
Custom Jyn Erso (Jedha): Uses Black Series 3.75” Jyn Erso figure, with modified arms for green jacket; added cuffs and stripes - stripes cut from arms of basic Jyn (Jedha), green jacket piece made from Dr Who (12th Doctor W3). Custom soft goods scarf.

Custom Jyn Erso (Eadu): Uses Black Series 3.75” Jyn Erso figure, with a slightly modified head from basic Jyn (Imperial Ground Crew Disguise). Poncho, mask and hands from basic Jyn (Eadu). Added a hook to the poncho to attach the custom closed baton accessory, and modified the pouch to hold a piece from TBS Jyn’s sniper attachment. Arms from TLC Stass Allie. Cap modified from basic Cassian (Eadu) figure.

(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4614/26496103688_73b018608e_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4667/40367326201_1de4cefe87_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4748/26496102778_d394077481_z.jpg)

I did attempt a soft goods poncho to swap with the scarf on the Jedha custom, but I couldn’t get it to work with the 3.75” figure. I might try it some time in the future on the 6” figure.

K-2SO: Like for many fans K2 is my absolute favourite character from Rogue One! I refused to buy the 5POA version, yet, but I also thought of customizing it if I can get it used & loose some day.
Like talonreap I'm very curious how you made this - the joints look so awesome! And how did you add the articulation to the feet, hands and even the fingers?! This is definitely one of the best upgrade of a figure I've ever seen so far! Very well done!

Jyn (Jedha): You created my favourite figure of Jyn Erso by far! I wish Hasbro did a better job on female head sculpts and paint jobs...especially bad paint jobs can ruin a good sculpt...
Your Jyn looks awesome! I really like the soft goods scarf you made and man, this green of her jacket! She looks just beautiful! And the two baton accessories look great, too! What a cool idea and a very nice picture to see her in action knocking down a Stormtrooper...

Jyn (Eadu): Excellent kit-bash! She looks like a Rebel soldier of the Battlefront games in that outfit - just relaized it by seeing your custom!

You did a fantastic job on these here! Thank you so much for sharing! I can't stop looking at them!

Title: Re: StarAlien70's custom figures
Post by: StarAlien70 on February 28, 2018, 01:14:05 PM
Pleased you all like the Rogue One customs. Here’s some detail shots of the K-2SO custom and a bit more info on the joints:
I cut through the non-articulated joint of the basic figure; leaving the outer joint rings attached to the uppermost part, and the middle joint ring attached to the lower part, then I cut a piece of metal tube to size and inserted this to hold the joints together. The metal tubes were basically from anything that was a suitable size - some were from an antenna off a broken radio. I used this method on the knees, elbows and ankles; with the ankles I had to drill a hole through (as there isn’t one on the figure), which I did before cutting the joint. The smaller joints; wrists and toes are done with pins. I didn’t do a joint on the fingers - I was tempted - but I thought it would just bust the plastic. The knee joints are cut off above the joint to allow them to swivel, these are attached with pins going into the shaft of the thighs. I used this technique on the wrists too.

(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4696/40417458682_16171f39c0_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4756/25590268487_5fe5ae6a1b_z.jpg)

As well as the front-back rotation of the ankle joint the foot can rock side-to-side, this was done by cutting the foot off leaving a block attached to the ankle joint (just as the 6” figure is). This is attached by a pin through the back of the foot.
For the toes; I drilled a very small hole through the foot where the toe joint would be, then I cut the toe section off leaving a piece at each side of the foot and then pushed a pin through.

For the shoulders; I cut of the arms at the base of the shoulder plate, the arm is then attached with the joint piece from a Tron Legacy figure. I drilled out the shoulder so it was just a thin plate, then attached it to the joint piece. This enables the arm to swivel free of the plate.

(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4613/40417458132_bcdf2c924f_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4703/25590260447_2bb61b584d_z.jpg)

I separated the upper torso from the pelvis by cutting up under the chest plate until it came away. I managed to make this custom using one figure, but it would be much easier using two. The torso inparticular would be easier with 2 figures. Once I separated the upper torso, I drilled it out and tidied up the cutting, then used a connector piece (the type you find on heads for 6” figures - I think mine was from a NECA Planet of the Apes) to attach the upper torso to the pelvis section.

I hope that helps and makes some sort of sense.

Back to OT customs. As I had cut Cassian’s Eadu cap in two to make Jyn’s, I decided to glue the bottom half to a TVC Rebel Fleet Trooper’s cap and made this custom cap for the TVC Echo Base Rebel Soldier. Head is from TBS Jon 'Dutch' Vander.

(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4756/39565536405_1a4d750110_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4656/39750956874_a421c75931_z.jpg) (https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4709/39750956554_090d1b214d_z.jpg)

It would have been nice to have this version of the cap and the regular Hoth cap as interchangeable accessories on this figure when it was released, seeing as we got two hats with the Fleet Trooper.

Those Indiana Jones Russian soldiers and Ugha figures are available from an Asian seller cheap.  I picked up about ten of each for future projects.

Thanks again everyone. Here's some Han Solo customs that came about when I was working on the Yavin Rebel figures.

Han Solo (Endor Strike Team): Modified torso and uppermost leg joints from TBS Cassian Andor. Thighs cut and drilled from SW Saga 02/05 Kit Fisto. Lower legs modified from TBS Luke (Yavin); feet cut off, fitted with TVC Rebel Trooper's. Arms modified from TLC Agen Kolar with hands from TBS Luke (ROTJ). Head repainted and drilled from SW Saga 04/19 Han (Endor Strike). Duster, waistcoat/vest and holster from TVC or VTSC Han (Trench Coat).

Han Solo (Yavin Ceremony): Mainly uses TAC Han (Smuggler/Gunner) with modified collar. Arms slightly modified from TVC or VTSC Han (Trench Coat) with hands from The Twelfth Doctor (Wave 3). Head is repainted and drilled from Han & Leia 2-pack (TFA packaging).

Han Solo (Cloud City Prisoner/Torture): Arms, repainted head and modified lower torso from TAC Han (Torture Rack). Upper torso modified from TBS Luke (Yavin). Jacket from Force Link Han & Boba Fett 2-Pack (This is quite a close colour match to the arms - arms have a slightly more purple hue). Upper legs modified from TSC Han (Carbonite) with lower legs from TVC or VTSC Han (Trench Coat). Repainted stripes on trousers.

Han Solo (Jabba's Palace/Skiff): Mainly uses modified TSC Han (Carbonite) with lower legs and slightly modified arms from TVC or VTSC Han (Trench Coat). Repainted stripes on trousers.

These Han Solo's are wonderful!  Your work really shows a keen eye to matching parts; it also demonstrates your painting skills.

And it also shows how great a job Hasbro did with their sculpts.  The Return of the Jedi Harrison Ford sculpt really captures  how Ford aged.  Maybe even more impressively is the fact that the "Blue eyed" Solo from the princess leia two pack is even more incredible.

Paint the eyes and hair and it is an awesome sculpt of Han Solo.  A really good version.

Totally agree about the sculpts - I feel sorry for the sculptors who must feel like crying when they see all their hard work ruined by bad paint apps.
For example on the Han from the 2-pack, the eyes were painted on his cheeks.

Just to clarify, it was the eye paint app on the Han from the Boba Fett 2-pack that was so bad, which isn't a particularly good sculpt - the eyes are too close together.

Thanks everyone for your comments, I'm really pleased you're all still liking my customs.

A change of scene; I've not done much customising for the sequels (I'm not really getting into them), but I really like Rey's character and I wanted to do a custom for her Jakku headgear that was able to cover her scavenger and speeder scenes.
Rey (Jakku) custom headgear: Uses goggles cut from 'Rogue One' single carded Rey (Jakku) attached with cotton strap. Modified shoulder piece scarf also from this figure. Headscarf & face scarf piece cut and modified from TFA Rey's speeder figure.

Of course we still like your customs! There is no reason not to like them!
Rey’s headgear looks superb! So you used two to make one, right? It looks fantastic! And to be honest, I feel the same about the Sequels. Rey is a nice looking figure. To me Rey (Island Journey) and Kylo Ren are characters of The Old Republic. Kylo’s costume looks like one of an ancient sith and I’m very pleased with this design as long as Adam Driver doesn’t pop up beeath mask. My favorite is of course BB-8 - he fits perfectly in Revenge of the Sith because it’s the newest Star Wars movie (at least for me).
Keep up the great work! Your skills are amazing!

Thanks Philipp.
Yes, I could have tried to use just the speeder Rey's head for goggles and hood, but I was worried that cutting the goggles off that might cut away too much plastic from the actual hood, which I wanted to use. So I decided to cut the goggles from the 'Rogue One' carded Jakku figure, then I could cut them off without worrying how much I cut around them and then fine tune them. I also drilled out the speeder Rey hood to fit the Rey head inside; I was hoping for it to be a removable hood, but it's too tight.
Hope that all makes sense.

This location shot at Derwent Water in Cumbria, England features a custom 3.75" Han Solo made from TBS TFA Han with arms from Comic Pack Fixer Loneozner, and jacket from basic 5POA TFA Han. Modified 3.75" TBS Rey (Jakku) with hands from TBS Toryn Farr.

Thanks all for your comments. Here's some images of the custom Han Solo and the modified TBS Rey (unfortunately not from the Lake District this time).
Han Solo uses legs & lower torso section, and repainted head from TBS Han Solo (Starkiller Base), with upper torso modified from an Indiana Jones (with Crystal Skull).
Arms from Comic Pack Fixer Loneozner with hands from TBS Cassian Andor, and added shirt cuffs cut from a 'pop-a-point' pencil piece. Jacket piece from single carded TFA Han Solo.
The arms were a bit darker than the jacket piece, so I added highlights to the arms to match the jacket, rather than a complete repaint.
TBS Rey (Jakku) with modified cuffs, and hands from TBS Toryn Farr. Paint app tidied up slightly.

Thanks for all your feedback and thanks Tamer for sharing my posts, I really appreciate it.
Back to the OT. Over the next few days I'll be posting some customs of Imperial Officers I did a while ago, but realised I hadn't posted on here. Here's the first one.

Sgt Derek Torent - Senior Watch Trooper with headset, helmet and cap. Single-breasted grey uniform that is the same as those from the Death Star turbolift scenes (not the black uniform of the Navy Troopers or the olive grey of the officers). To me the collar and cuffs look a different colour in screen grabs of the film, especially if you enhance the brightness and contrast - not really sure whether they are actually a different colour or just a material that catches the light differently. Anyway this is my take on it.

Modified TLC Bail Organa torso, with repainted head from TVC Colonel Cracken, arms from Dr Who Matt Smith (Wave 3), hands from Blackbeard (POTC), legs from TAC Rebel Honor Guard, skirt section from TBS Mosep Binned combined with the belt part off POTF Admiral Motti (not quite sure why I did it that way (?), I think I'd already cut those parts down for something else, so I made use of them). Headset modified from TBS Toryn Farr's, with added white parts from a 'Pop-a-point' pencil, mouthpiece cut from a plastic product tag. TBS Imperial Navy Commander helmet is slightly modified inside to fit over headset better.

Glad you like the headset on that figure. Here's some fairly straightforward customised Imperial Officers from ANH. With these I wanted to do some specific officers that Hasbro hasn’t done by making use of duplicate officer figures I already had, so I wasn’t too bothered about the articulation in some of these.

Left image - Commander Jir and Commander Praji: Both use mainly TAC Death Star Troopers with added rank insignia cut from other Imperial officer figures. Commander Jir uses head from a POTF2 Tarkin, drilled out to fit the peg. Skirt is from TLC Battlepack Lt Renz. Commander Praji uses repainted head from TSC Moff Jerjerrod. Holster cut down and repainted. Blaster is modified from TBS Biggs X-Wing Pilot.

Right image - Lieutenant Treidum and the other Imperial officer in the control room: These also use mainly TAC Death Star Troopers with added rank insignia cut from other Imperial officer figures, but these two have arms from TAC Luke Jedi (If I'd had more TAC Luke Jedi figures, I would use the upper arms to replace the TAC Death Star Trooper's on Jir and Praji), hands from TBS Luke Yavin. Blasters modified from TBS Biggs X-Wing Pilot. Lieutenant Treidum uses head from a POTJ Imperial Officer, drilled out to fit the peg. Imperial Officer 2 uses head from Star Wars Saga Captain Antilles with cap from TAC Juno Eclipse.

(https://farm1.staticflickr.com/641/31743334900_d7be2e1351_c.jpg) (https://farm1.staticflickr.com/490/31277409354_8747cf9f14_c.jpg)

Captain Khurgee and the other Imperial Officer (only very briefly seen) from the Death Star hangar scene with Vader: Both use figures from TSC Death Star Briefing set with repainted rank insignia, and added custom utility boxes on the belts. Repainted hands from SW Saga Admiral Ozzel. Khurgee head from SW Saga Endor Rebel Soldier with cap from TLC Captain Needa. Other Officer's head from Fixer Loneozner Comic Pack with cap from Lt Jundland and Deena Shan Comic Pack.

Admiral Motti: Figure mainly from TSC Death Star Briefing set (Tagge, Bast, or Cass) with repainted insignia. Repainted head from POTF Admiral Motti. Left forearm (for the acute angle) from Lt Jundland Comic Pack with left hand from Cass.

Left image - Colonel Yularen and other Imperial Security Bureau Officer: Both use Yularen figure from TSC Death Star Briefing set with repainted legs. Other ISB officer has repainted head from TAC General McQuarrie, and left hand from Bast. Caps from TAC Juno Eclipse.

Right image - Two officers in the lighter grey tunic, the one on the left is the officer seen talking to Tarkin and possibly the same one walking past the turbolift (image ref below). The one on the right is based on General Molock from the briefing room scene. Both use SW Saga Admiral Ozzel torso and skirt, with legs from TSC Luke Endor. Left one has repainted head from TAC Rebel Honor Guard, Molock has repainted head from Episode I Senator Palpatine.

One of the officers in the briefing room appeared to have a lighter green/grey tunic.

Your pics demonstrate that pretty well. Equally impressive is catching they wore black pants. Awesome. Have to customize. That simple.

Thanks again. Here's the last of the Imperial Officers. I never understood why Hasbro were always changing the grey that officers were made in. I've repainted most of these to standardise them.

AT-AT Commander - General: Mainly repainted TAC Death Star Trooper with repainted armour and skirt from TVC AT-AT Commander, repainted helmet from SW Saga Han Solo (Endor Strike).
AT-AT Commander - Lieutenant: Repainted TVC AT-AT Commander, with repainted arms from TAC Death Star Trooper.

(https://farm1.staticflickr.com/746/31728536190_fde59481f2_c.jpg) (https://farm1.staticflickr.com/573/32064764726_d10e3cd6b7_c.jpg)

Left image - Admiral Ozzel: Simple head swap with SW Saga head and Lt Jundland Comic Pack (which is the same sculpt as Ozzel, but in a better colour). Captain Piett (TESB), also use for Admiral Piett (ROTJ): Mainly repainted TVC AT-AT Commander with skirt from Lt Jundland, insignia from Baron Soontir Fel & Ysanne Isard Comic Pack. POTF2 Piett head drilled to fit.

Right image - Admiral Piett (TESB): Another Lt Jundland Comic Pack figure with head peg modified smaller to fit the previous Piett head.

Captain Bewil: Repainted Baron Soontir Fel (Ysanne Isard Comic Pack), with TVC AT-AT Commander arms and insignia. Repainted head from TLC Cloud City Guard Sergeant Edian, with cap from TLC Captain Needa.
Lieutenant Sheckil: Repainted TSC Moff Jerjerod with POTF Luke head (not sure which one) drilled to fit peg, with cap from Lt Jundland.

Thanks. I was using Humbrol Acrylics when I did these and had to mix it, but I've since starting using Revell and their 36145 Light Olive is a really good match straight out.

The colour that I was happiest with and tried to match on the existing figures, was the Tagge, Bast, and Cass from The Saga Collection Death Star Briefing set. The comic pack Lt Jundland sits well with these too.

The AT-AT armour colour I used was Humbrol 78 Cockpit Green.

I did get these on the front page yesterday. Had a bit of a family issue that evidently did not let me comment on em, but I really like your AT Commanders. I think that Vintage Figure (basic commander) is one that would go well with a re release. I know I for sure would buy some more. I wish they would have released Veers with that same body. I think I made a custom using this some time back.

I agree about the AT-AT TVC figure, I was hoping they were going to release more officers using that sculpt with a standard skirt. I don't know about the US, but these were hard to find in the UK. I managed to get a couple loose though, so I was able to do the customs.

Thanks everybody. Here's a couple of straightforward head swap figures that I did to make use of POTJ Imperial Officer figures I had taken the heads off for the other custom Imperial Officers I made.
I still really like this sculpt from the POTJ range, despite the lack of articulation.

Death Star Superlaser Operators: Both use POTJ Imperial Officers; one with head and helmet from POTF2 Death Star Trooper, the other with head from POTF2 Imperial Gunner.
Removable Imperial Gunner flak vest made from POTF Sandtrooper pauldron fitted with elastic straps.

Thanks to everybody. Here's some Rebels from Return Of The Jedi.

Major Haash'n (Mon Calamari Engineer): I managed to get a few TBS Admiral Ackbars recently at a reasonable price, which is what the head, arms and modified torso are from. Upper legs section from TLC Obi-Wan Padawan, with added pockets cut and modified from the Rebels MS05 2-pack Boba Fett. Lower legs from a Russian Soldier, with custom gaiters. Skirt modified from TVC Naboo Pilot. Ammo packs cut from 2 SW Saga Endor Rebel Soldiers.

Rebel Technicians: I did these a while ago, they are a popular custom, as the Indiana Jones Russian Soldier is already most of the way there. Heads are modified from Indiana Jones German Soldiers. I made the custom headsets from the silver ring you get in the middle of some ballpoint pens; then added a few bits of plastic to it, with the mouthpiece cut from a plastic product tag.

To me, Major Haash'n always look more like he would be a commando or combat engineer rather than a fleet engineer, with him having ammo packs. As though he was intended to be on the ground like the Dressellians (?).

Really nice job on this set of customs. The Rebel techs are great. I really like how Haash'n turned out - spot on with the reference pics - excellent work. And, yeah, he does look like he was designed for commando activity - even if it was mobile headquarters type duty.

Major Haash'n looks brilliant! I also got two TVC Admiral Ackbar figures in one lot for 5 bucks each - one is missing an accessory - so I might even use him for a custom, too...
And I agree with you and Starchaser on the ammo packs, but I guess the Rebel fleet had to work with what they had. Not having that much of financial support like the Empire to focus on cosmetics they had to take what they got I guess. I looked at some reference pictures and your custom on him looks spot on. So that's what a Rebel fleet engineer looks like.

All your customs look so nice and clean and that's not only because of your sharp pictures!
I'm also impressed by the Rebel technicians! Didn't know the Indiana Jones Russian Soldier was popular for customizing. All I know is that you can get lots of them for cheap on eBay. I got 20 of them for $16 so far and will definitely make some customs with them.
The headsets look fantastic! I also collected some ballpoint pens even with these metal rings, but never had the idea to make them a headset!

Thanks for sharing the recipes and all the great pics! Keep them coming, please!

P.S.: If you look up "Major Haash'n" on google images, your custom is shown in third and fourth line already - uploaded on hiveminer four days ago.

Thanks very much to you all for your encouraging comments.
Back to Rogue One. I wanted to do this Cassian when I was doing the K-2SO and Jyn customs, but wasn't sure how to tackle the flight vest. So I put it to one side for a while. Also, I recently got some more TBS Scarif Troopers so I did a Captain.

Cassian Andor (U-Wing Pilot): TBS 3.75" Cassian Andor with customised jacket from POTF2 Luke Ceremonial, and custom headset made with modified earpieces from TBS Toryn Farr's headset; with headband made from a plastic covered wire tie, mouthpiece cut from a plastic product tag.

Scarif Shoretrooper Captain: Uses TBS 3.75” Scarif Stormtrooper, with repainted markings. Shown with previous customised Squad Leader I did (which I've now weathered a bit), and unaltered TBS Scarif Stormtrooper.

Thanks again everybody for your comments. Glad you all like the accessories, I don't know why Hasbro can't give us some useful accessories instead of the gimmicks they put with figures these days. Remember The 30th Anniversary accessories we got? We even got a Moisture Vaporator with Luke, and for a whole lot cheaper.

I revisited the Luke Pilot custom I did a while ago and gave the parts a repaint (the original was painted with artist's acrylics, as I didn't have an orange bright enough in model acrylics at the time). For the repaint I used Revell Aqua Color Orange 36130 mixed with some Yellow 36115, then used Clear Matt over them. I also changed the arms on the 'Splinter Of The Mind's Eye' version. Here it is, now with a Princess Leia from the same.

Luke: Torso from TBS Luke Dagobah. Arms from Indiana Jones Mutt Williams. Head from TVC Luke Bespin. Upper leg section from Rebel Ground Crew. Lower legs from TLC Luke Snowspeeder. New waist overalls section made from a ROTS Deluxe Anakin-Vader cloak. Holster is cut from the TBS Luke Dagobah belt.

Leia: Head repainted and drilled out POTF2 Freeze Frame Leia. Upper torso from TBS Mara Jade. Lower torso modified from TVC Darth Maul. I cut up an earphone bud for the collar and to cover the waist section. Upper arms from Marvel Infinite Black Cat. Forearms and hands from TBS Mara Jade. Upper legs from TBS Luke Dagobah. Lower legs from TBS Toryn Farr. Belt modified from TBS Mara Jade with holster cut from SW Saga Lando 04/21.

Custom backpacks made from foamcore and card, with synthetic leather straps for Luke's.

Thanks everybody for your comments and likes, those 'Splinter' customs are doing well on Imperial Shipyards' Facebook page.

These are a couple of figures I did a while ago. I don't think I have posted them before, but having seen that Hasbro are due to release a new TVC Han Stormtrooper, I thought I would show them now. My reason for doing these was because I find the hip ball-joints frustrating, particularly with Stormtroopers, as you have to twist the thigh 90 degrees to sit the figures. So to remedy this, I wanted to get the extra thigh articulation that the new SA and TBS 6" figures have (which I don't think the new TVC Han is going to have, but I may be wrong).

I didn't want to destoy my TLC Han & Luke, so I kitbashed some Stormtroopers. Both use chest section and arms from TAC Stormtrooper. Abdomen section, modified belts and modified legs from TBS Stormtrooper; legs are fitted with hip joints from Tron figures for more articulation at the thigh.

Han: Head from VOTC figure. Belt from TBS Stormtrooper modified to have removable thermal detonator, attaches using small magnets from Star Wars Saga figures.

Luke: Head from TLC Saga Legends Luke X-Wing. Removable belt modified from TBS Stormtrooper fitted with clip for comlink, and mock grappling hook.

Thanks everybody. Here's another addition to the Rogue One customs I have done.

Cassian Andor (Jedha): Head, legs and lower torso modified from TBS 3.75" Cassian. Upper torso modified from TVC Naboo Pilot. Upper arms from TBS Luke Yavin, with forearms from Luke X-Wing. Hood, front coat panel, skirt, quilted knee parts, pocket, forearms' stripes and gloves cut from 5POA Jedha Cassian. Custom backpack modified from an older 'The Corps' figure (?).

Shown here with previous custom SA K-2SO and Jyn Erso (now with modified plastic scarf). Also shown with alternate head for Cassian Andor (Eadu).

Currently working on a modified shorter torso for Luke Stormtrooper and alternate 'wet head'. Also some more 'Splinter Of The Mind's Eye' to come.

Thanks all for your comments. Here's an update on the Han & Luke in Stormtrooper Disguise.

I wanted to use the Rogue One Single carded Stormtrooper head for these, as it's such a good helmet. I initially wanted to do it as a removable helmet, but it's too small to drill out and fit over a reasonable sized head. So I just drilled it to fit as an alternate head-helmet. As it was going to be a headswap anyway I decided to try different heads and I think the TLC Han Death Star and TBS Luke Yavin work well, both fit well without modifying too.
I wanted Luke to be 'a little short…', so I hollowed out the recess in the upper torso a bit more to make it fit lower. It's not much but I think it improves the Luke Stormtrooper look, especially with the helmet head on, which I also drilled a little deeper than the one for Han.

Trash Compactor Luke with alternate 'wet look' head modified from a TAC Concept Luke.

Leia: Head modifed from TBS Jyn Erso with 'buns' cut from POTF2 Leia. Lower torso and upper legs from TBS Mara Jade. Upper torso modified from TBS Bastilla Shan. Lower legs from TBS Toryn Farr. Where does the time go? Here's some 'soft goods' follow up work on the 3.75" Rey custom I did last year. I'm slowly coming round to the sequels.

Rey (Jakku Scavenger/Speeder): TBS or TVC Rey (Jakku) with modified forearms and modified gloved hands with cuffs. Head from TFA Single carded figure. Soft goods wrap glued over existing torso. Custom synthetic leather belt with repainted bag cut from original. Custom soft goods skirt. Custom soft goods headgear made from Episode 1 Tatooine Accessory Set Poncho. Goggles cut from 'Rogue One' single carded Rey (Jakku) attached with elastic strap. Modified backpack from TVC Rey with custom synthetic leather straps and added shoulder pouch cut from TVC headgear piece. Removable flask cut from a second backpack.

Rey (Jakku): Custom figure as above, but with alternate no gloves hands from TBS Toryn Farr. Custom soft goods bag.

Thanks for your comments. Here's a few more from The Force Awakens.
First Order Stormtrooper (Jakku): TBS or TVC First Order Stormtrooper with modified TFA Single Carded Squad Leader's Heavy Gunner ammo vest (made with pieces from 2). Slightly repainted backpack from TFA Single Carded First Order Snowtrooper.

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/47670156301_6b5307dea3_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/47670156111_1abfb7c6cb_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/46754371565_72f825fde9_c.jpg)

Rey (Starkiller Base Snowspeeder Chase): TBS or TVC Rey (Jakku) with TBS Finn (Jakku) jacket, forearms, and upper arms (hollowed out as sleeves and placed over Rey's existing upper arms). Hands from TBS Toryn Farr. Head from Force-Link Rey (Island Journey). I made the upper arms into sleeves because the full arm with shoulder joint looked too big. I quite like how the jacket looks a bit oversized on her, because that's how it would be with it being Finn's (Poe's) jacket.

Finn (Starkiller Base Snowspeeder Chase): TBS Finn (Jakku) with repainted and slightly modified arms from Comic 2-Pack Fixer Loneozner. I used the arms from this figure on the Rey custom.

Thanks for your comments. Here's some modifications to the TVC Rey (Island Journey) figure. I really like this figure of Rey, but I just wanted to improve it a bit to do alternate versions.

Rey (Ahch-To Training): TVC Rey (Island Journey) with forearms replaced with modified elbow joints from TBS Princess Leia Organa, this is to use interchangeable forearms:
• Gauntlet forearms modified from Force-Link Rey (Island Journey).
• Alternate forearms for lightsaber training scene (no leather wrist strap), slightly modified from TVC Rey (Jakku) with hands from TBS Toryn Farr.
Skirt section from TVC Rey (Island Journey) with hoster belt cut and dremelled off. Uses holster belt section and waistcoat from Force-Link Rey (Island Jouney).

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/46945990544_8ff7552b43_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/47670155391_9428856354_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/46754371225_9286d2eac3_c.jpg)

This is the regular TVC Rey (Island Journey) figure with a custom soft goods poncho made out of material from TBS 6" Rey (Island Journey). In images 5-7 the poncho looks darker because it is actually wet.

Thanks again for your comments. Here's a TBS 6" Rey (Jakku) customised with soft goods wrap and skirt. The wrap is glued over the existing torso. Custom synthetic leather belt with bag cut from the original. Head from TBS 6" Rey (Island Journey).

Thanks again everyone for your comments.

Rey (Scavenger/Speeder) with soft goods headgear: This is the TBS 6" Rey that came with the speeder, with the head from TBS 6" Rey (Island Journey) and custom soft goods headgear, made from the material of 2x Episode 1 Tatooine Accessory Set ponchos. Goggles cut from the speeder head and fitted with elastic. Repainted backpack with a removable flask. The flask was made by glueing the top and bottom pieces, cut from the backpack, to a circular piece of plastic for the middle.

Thank you all for your comments, I'm pleased you're liking the customised Reys and soft goods. Here's another Black Series 6" one, this time from the Expanded Universe.

Dark Side Rey: Hands, lower torso & legs from TBS 6" Sergeant Jyn Erso (Jedha). Modified upper torso, belt, head, arms, and feet from TBS 6" Rey (Jedi Training). Custom soft goods tabard/sash made from satin ribbon. Skirt from TBS/TVC 3.75" Kylo Ren.

Thanks everyone. Glad you like the Dark Side Rey, I'm really pleased how she turned out and it came together quite quickly. I had the idea after seeing Rei Kennex's cosplay. I was originally just going to repaint the Rey (Jedi Training) figure to black, but it kind of developed and I wanted to use existing black legs, so I used the Jyn Erso figure too. I might do some shots with Anakin's/Luke's/Rey's blue lightsaber and have her as an ambiguous Jedi - as Luke was in ROTJ.

Carrying on the theme of dark side ambiguity. Here's a 3.75" Luke as a Jedi Master in a black outfit. Probably been done before, it's a simple custom using the TVC 79 Darth Sidious. Repainted head from a Force-Link Luke (Jedi Master), dremeled to fit. Hands are from the TBS #20 Jawas 2-pack. Cloak from TSC 034 Garindan.

Awesome kit-bashing and painting action here. I'm very surprised that the Jawa hands actually fit! Luke's head looks great on Sidious's body. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Philipp. I was surprised too with the Jawa hands, I put them on the figure having found them in my box of loose hands, but didn't know what they were from because I was only looking at full sized figures. Then I saw my other Jawas and realised that's what they were.

Luke looks excellent. Using the Sidious body was a great idea (and means less painting). I love the paint touches you gave Luke's head. I agree with Darth More, would never have suspected Jawa hands would work so well. Keep up the creative work!

Thanks, Starchaser.
Initially I was struggling for parts, as I don't have anywhere near the amount for 6" figures as I do for 3.75", but when I found the Jango armour, it came together quite quickly. It was quite difficult getting the chest plate to curve round the figure's chest though, especially as the plastic seems to be like a PE/PP type, so it took a while for the glue to bond, even with an activator.

Thank you all for your comments, I'm pleased you liked Boudi Qara so much.

Having seen the latest SW trailer I thought I'd share some images of an alternate version of the Dark Side Rey custom I did a while back. This version uses a cut down belt and a modified cloak from TBS 6" Kylo Ren 26; I opened up the front stitching and hemmed each side, then I added a fastener (my Wife came up with the idea to use a Bra fastener for this). The rest is as the previous Dark Side Rey: Hands, lower torso & legs from TBS 6" Sergeant Jyn Erso (Jedha). Modified upper torso, head, arms, and feet from TBS 6" Rey (Jedi Training). Custom soft goods tabard/sash made from satin ribbon. Skirt from TBS/TVC 3.75" Kylo Ren.

Thanks for your comments on the 6" Dark Side Rey. Back to some 3.75" Classic Marvel Expanded Universe - This is my take on the Arbra Speeder Bike from the Classic Marvel comic story - PLIF! I always loved this era of Star Wars Classic Marvel with Walt Simonson and Tom Palmer.

Made from The Corps/Heroes (UK Wilko) Quad Bike. The front light section is the top of a shampoo bottle with holes dremeled to fit some clear protective pads for the lights. Extra engine parts and rear landing gear were made by cutting up 2 of the Build-A-Weapon cannons that came with TFA FO Stormtrooper Squad Leader. Rear side pods were from TFA Elite Speeder Bike. Handlebars and pipes were from a Star Wars Saga Clone Speeder Bike. The rear jet section was from a helicopter set that had interchangeable parts, not sure what it was.

I guess my work network was blocking the links.  I could see them just fine from home.

StarAlien70: The figures are really great, but that speeder bike is flat out amazing!  I love how it has that vintage/art deco look, like something out of the 30's or 40's.  And yet is still fits perfectly with the Star Wars old-future look ... damn, it's just cool.

Thanks for sharing!

Moronarama: I can load and see the pictures with no issues. And like Shawn said my internet here is not as good as it is in Dresden. The East of Germany received billions of money to build and improve the infrastructure after the reunion in 1989. The west hasn't been supported as much (by far!) since then...anyhew I hope you can see these pictures of glory now!

Thanks all for your comments, glad you like them. Here's another version of the Arbra Speeder Bike bike with Chewbacca.

"Wuuh uughguughhhghghghhhgh huurh aarrragghuuhw!"
I bet that made his eyes water!

This is a modified TBS Chewbacca. Because the legs wouldn't spread apart enough to sit astride the bike, I sliced them off and fitted pegs (from the neck joint off a 6" figure, not sure which) into the figure and dremeled sockets in the top of the legs. This allows enough side movement to sit on the bike. This version of the bike has removable panniers that are 2 backpacks from the POTF Endor Rebel Soldier. I would also like to add some extra baggage on both versions and I might put some additional foot rests for Chewbacca, as his legs are too long to fit on the existing ones.

Thanks for all your comments, I'm glad you all like the bikes and the figure mods.
I know what you mean, Tamer, about it being adapted to suit the need. I was thinking the same thing when I was making the removable panniers version.

Anybody that follows me, will know that I don't take a lot of work in progress pics as I always forget because I get too engrossed in the making, but here's a few that I remembered to take:

Hi all. I've not posted anything for a while (again). Here's an update on a previous Leia Organa (Scuba Diver) custom I did - New goggles and diving belt - with a Luke Skywalker (Scuba Diver) from the same Classic Marvel Star Wars comic story: "The Iskalon Effect"

Leia: Mainly from repainted TVC Aurra Sing. Arms and repainted gloves from TBS Mara Jade. Original feet cut off and replaced with articulated feet from TBS Bastila Shan. Repainted front part of head from TBS Bastila Shan, combined with back of head from POTJ Leia General.

Luke: Slightly repainted head from TBS Luke Yavin. Torso and upper arms from TAC Luke & Mara Jade Comic Pack, with modified forearms from TBS Luke Dagobah (I didn't have any other suitable forearms, so I altered these to fit in the sockets of the upper arms). Hands from TBS Jawa 2-pack with added cuffs. Legs from TBS Boxed ROTJ Luke.

Both: Rebreathers from TAC Concept Starkiller Hero. Goggles cut from World Peacekeepers Diver figures and cut out to fit a panel of clear plastic, and fitted with elastic straps. Diving belts cut from TBS Chewbacca bandolier.

More development on these to follow.

I agree with JDeck and (SID)! Both look as if they just jumped off a TLC  Comic Pack. The combination of parts and goggles are truly impressive! I could well see you making a diorama for them now.
You put some nice work and brilliant kit-bashing into these.
Really hope Hasbro will give us more Comic characters in the Vintage Collection. Doctor Aphra was such a sweet treat.
Awesome work & thanks for sharing. I’ll now take a look at the link which (SID) provided. Thanks in advance, mate!

Thanks for all your comments, glad you like them. That archive is a great find, (SID). Here's more "Iskalon Effect". Same base figures as previous Scuba Diver customs, but with added soft goods and alternate accessories.

Leia: Soft goods poncho made from material off an umbrella. Belt from TBS Luke Dagobah with holster from TVC Rey Island Journey (I had cut off the original holster for a previous Luke custom).
Luke: Soft goods jacket made from TBS 6" Rey Island Journey poncho (leftover pieces from a previous Rey custom). Belt from TVC Luke Bespin.

Luke with alternate 'wet look' head from the Luke Stormtrooper custom I did a while back, which was a modified head from TAC Concept Luke. Luke and Leia (Scuba Divers) with 'Stingers' - blasters from 2 POTF Greedos.

Thanks all for your comments, glad you like them. Here's another version of the Arbra Speeder Bike bike with Chewbacca.

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48876056856_4ba758a2ab_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48875367368_b02f5a8ce4_c.jpg)

Thanks again for your comments. Glad you like the poncho, Tamer. I was worried at first that the umbrella material would fray easily, but it seems to be holding up well.
Here's some more Classic Marvel Star Wars - Luke and Shira Brie (X-Wing Pilots). I was disappointed with the TLC Evolutions Shira Brie, so I've made a custom of her. I have done 2 heads - one with longer hair more like in the comic and another with shorter hair to be able to fit the helmet.

Luke: Mainly from TLC Luke Snowspeeder. Gloves and lower legs from TLC-SL Luke X-Wing. Head from TVC Luke Bespin. Holster from TBS Boxed Cassian Andor.

Shira: Mainly from TLC Evolutions Cesi 'Doc' Eirriss, with stomach section sanded down to accommodate modified skirt from TLC Luke Snowspeeder. Upper arms from TLC Luke Snowspeeder. Collar modified from TBS Luke Hoth.
Head with longer hair: Modified and repainted from Angelica (Pirates of the Caribbean).
Head with shorter hair: Repainted hair taken from Solo Force Link Qi'ra (Corellia) and glued on to repainted head from Marvel Infinite Series Emma Frost.

Thanks all for your comments. Here's an Expanded Universe vehicle and crew - Imperial Swamp Crawler/Troop Transporter.

Inspired by the Mimban Crawler from Splinter Of The Mind's Eye. I started work on this about the same time as the Luke & Leia (Mimban Miner Disguises) and have recently got around to finishing it.
I'll share more details and images of the vehicle soon, for now here's the crew.

Crawler Driver: AT-ST Driver from the 'Attack On Hoth' Multipack, with a repainted head from TBS Biggs X-Wing Pilot. Repainted helmet from TVC Endor AT-ST Crew 2-Pack. Repainted jacket from Rogue One Single Figure Bodhi Rook (I stretched this after soaking in boiling water, so it would fit around the waist of the AT-ST Driver).

Crawler Commander: Repainted TVC AT-AT Commander, with repainted & modified arms from TAC Death Star Trooper. Head from TVC TIE Fighter Pilot. Repainted helmet from SW Saga Han Solo (Endor Strike).

Crawler Navigation & Targeting Droid: TLC Build-a-droid R4-D6.

Crawler Gunner: AT-ST Driver from the 'Attack On Hoth' Multipack. Helmet as Commander. Jacket as Driver.

Thanks for all your comments and hope you're all keeping safe and well. Here's one I did a while back, but only just got round to taking some pics.

Customised 3.75" Han Solo with Carbonite block: I wanted to have a consistency to the various Carbonite blocks that have come with the figures over the years. I decided to use TBS #19 Han Solo block as I had managed to get a few of these. I cut the front panel off the block and made the shaped area with Das clay, then painted it.

As the existing figure was too tall for the block, I used the upper leg section from TBS #05 Luke Yavin. Lower legs and repainted head from TAC 38 Han Torture Rack.

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49871748951_f6f33b3c90_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49871219423_8cccfc676d_c.jpg)

Those grills are a nice touch on top of the playset, but I wish they had paid more attention by putting them the right way round and have them let more light through.

Thanks for your comments, I really appreciate the feedback.
Here's another 6" custom. I've seen a few customs of this character from Battlefront 2 (I don't actually play the game, I just liked the look of the Inferno Squad).

6" Iden Versio custom:
TBS 6" Inferno Squad Agent with head from WWE Series #69 Tamina combined with the top and back part of the head from TBS 6" 81 Padmé Amidala. I find that a lot of WWE heads are too large for TBS 6" figures, but this one was a nice size. I cut the tubes off the life support pack and put plastic pieces in the helmet mouthpiece to fill the holes. Feet from a DC Collectibles Arrow Black Canary.

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49871059808_5ba60b77ce_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49871588956_b983e23198_c.jpg)

I hollowed out the helmet to fit over the head, it's a tight fit but I did it (if you try this, be careful of the thickness variations in the helmet - it's quite easy to get carried away and think you have a long way to go, then you hit a thinner part of the helmet). The pauldron is a modified piece I had cut from TVC Kylo Ren skirt with added strips off plastic painted for the stripes.

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49871059703_fee8969a6e_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49871059713_70a8b89c8a_c.jpg)

The belt is modified to have a less bulky look and have 2 drop boxes (Why did they make that detachable stormtrooper belt for TBS Han Solo with only one drop box anyway?).
The hair bun is detachable for the helmet to go on.

Thanks for your comments. Here's a few Expanded Universe 6" customs that I did about a year ago, but just realised I hadn't shared them.
I plan to do an army of these at some point with various camo patterns, as I got a load of Cassians really cheap. The main problem will be finding suitable heads to swap with them all.

TBS 6" Rebel Soldiers: Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain

Rebel Sergeant: Repainted TBS 6" Captain Cassian Andor with modified cap and repainted head from TBS 6" Finn (Jakku).

Rebel Lieutenant: Underneath the poncho is a modified torso from 6" Tauriel - The Hobbit (An Unexpected Journey) to fit the waist joint and legs from TBS 6" Rey (Jedi Training).
Head from TBS 6" Jaina Solo (Legends). Feet, arms, poncho, cap and holster belt from TBS 6" Sergeant Jyn Erso (Eadu).

Rebel Captain: Repainted TBS 6" Captain Cassian Andor with head from 40th Anniversary 6" Death Squad Commander.
No repaints on any of the legs except for the boots.

Thanks for all your comments. Here are some various 6" TBS Imperial Officer customs I've been working on recently. Most of this batch are based around customised TBS Director Krennic figures.

Imperial Officer with light grey tunic (same uniform as Trech Molock): This is the officer that can be seen reporting to Tarkin on the Death Star overbridge just before Leia is being escorted in. He is also seen walking passed the turbolift. TBS Director Krennic #27 all repainted apart from legs and gloves, with modified head from TBS Rebel Fleet Trooper #69. Upper 6 rank squares and code cylinders cut off. Skirt and cap repainted from TBS General Veers. I stuck with the Krennic gloved hands as I don't have enough bare hands to use.

Imperial Commander - generic, but same rank as Nahdonnis Praji: TBS Director Krennic #27 all repainted apart from legs and gloves. Upper six rank squares cut off. Skirt modified and fitted with holster from Death Squad Commander. I fitted the black holster on the left to be consistent with what can be seen in stills of Daine Jir's on the Tantive (as you don't get to see Praji's holster), rather than the brown holsters worn on the right in the Death Star control room. I would have prefered to use the long gloved forearms from the Death Squad Commander but the pegs are too small for the upper arms of Krennic, and the whole DSC arm doesn't fit well in the Krennic torso.

Lieutenant Pol Treidum: TBS Director Krennic #27 all repainted apart from legs, with repainted head from TBS General Hux #13. Upper 6 rank squares and each end square on lower row cut off to leave 4. Skirt modified and fitted with modified holster and blaster from TBS General Veers armour.  Hands from TBS Cassian Andor (Rogue One 3 Pack).

All custom utility boxes are Lego tiles sanded down on 2 opposite sides to make them more rectangular.

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50023392758_2b45b20359_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50023937286_4c937d4619_c.jpg)

Imperial Lieutenant - generic, but same rank as the gloved officer (only seen properly in stills) who follows Vader to the Falcon in the Death Star hangar. TBS Director Krennic #27 all repainted with modified head. Upper 6 rank squares cut off. Skirt and cap from TBS General Veers.

Imperial Stormtrooper Commander: Simple custom - just a modified 40th Death Squad Commander. Holster taken off and used on above Commander custom. Head and repainted cap from TBS General Veers. This is based on the commander that signals to the group of stormtroopers in the Death Star corridor after the Falcon lands in the hangar. He doesn't seem to have a rank or holster and also has boots and trousers more like a Naval Trooper rather than an officer, but it's unclear which uniform it is.

I'll show another batch soon of Imperial Officer customs based around customised TBS General Veers figures.

Thanks for your comments. Here's another selection of 6" TBS Imperial Officer customs, this time based around customised TBS General Veers figures.

Expanded Universe General: TBS General Veers with repainted gloves. Skirt and cape repainted from TBS Director Krennic. Head from WWE Kurt Angle (?).

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50023937131_b303025125_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50023937151_3d9b945c65_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50023392608_c98a022c46_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50023937086_577ffa6958_c.jpg)[/url]

Lieutenant Jundland (Expanded Universe): TBS General Veers with repainted gloves and 4 left most rank squares cut off. Skirt repainted from TBS Director Krennic. Head modified from 6" budget hero Luke Jedi.

Captain Piett (TESB)/Admiral Piett (ROTJ): TBS General Veers with 2 left most rank squares cut off. Head and cap from TBS Admiral Piett.

Generic Captain (TESB)/Generic rank officer (ROTJ): TBS General Veers with 2 left most rank squares cut off. Head from 40th Death Squad Commander.

Brilliant kit-bashes here! This question came to my mind recently when I got a few WWE figs used. It seems they're slightly taller than 1/12 scale. I did some calculation and they're rather 1/10 scale - especially the heads are bigger than TBS. Your EU General looks about perfectly accurate, though!
Your pics look fantastic, too! The right background can make a difference like night and day.
Thanks Kurt!

Thanks, Kurt! Glad you like them. Yeh, I got a load of cheap loose WWE figures a while back hoping to have some good Imp and Rebel heads, but was disappointed that most of them were too big to use (but they are quite funny to try anyway). Sometimes though, the black series heads look too small depending on which black series body you put it on, it can get very frustrating.

I've not posted in a while. Thanks all for your comments on the previous 6" Imperial Officers. Here's another one from the Expanded Universe.

Admiral Amise Griff (Classic Marvel)

Uses 6" TBS 27 Director Krennic all repainted with extra code cylinder (cut from a previous officer custom) added to left side to represent TESB era Admiral insignia. Cape also repainted from Krennic with fur added from 3.75" Forcelink Range Trooper. Head is a repainted 6" TBS Poe Dameron from 2-pack with FO Riot Control Stormtrooper. Cap from 6" TBS Admiral Piett.

Thanks all for your comments, glad you like that Griff. That's one from my favourite period of Star Wars comics with Al Williamson and Archie Goodwin.

Here's one from present day Marvel Star Wars.

Princess Leia (Marvel Comics) 6" custom

Uses slightly repainted TBS 6" 81 Padmé Amidala. Repainted head from 6" TBS 22 Jyn Erso, modified hair with 2 pieces from 3.75" TBS Padmé and 1 piece from 3.75" TSC Padmé - I'm not sure the face looks particularly like Leia, but I think it fits with the comic style of her. Belt also from Jyn Erso with added parts from 3.75" TBS Luke Jedi belt. Repainted forearms from 3.75" TAC Death Star Trooper with repainted hands from DC Comics Icons 13 Harley Quinn. Repainted jacket from 6" TBS 58 Rey Island Journey.

Thanks so much for your comments on the Marvel Leia custom.
Here's another Leia from the Expanded Universe.

Princess Leia (X-Wing Pilot) 6" custom (based on Dark Horse Comics - 'In The Shadow Of Yavin')

Uses slightly repainted 6" TBS 56 Jaina Solo figure, helmet, belt, vest & harness. As Jaina is quite a tall figure, to make the figure a bit shorter I took a bit off the tops of the thighs and redid the sockets. Head from 6" TBS 75 Leia Hoth with added hair pieces - ponytail from DC Comics Designer Series 3 Raven.

Mara Jade 6" custom

Uses repainted DC Comics Icons 12 Atomica. Repainted head from Marvel Avengers Captain Marvel (one with limited articulation). Arms from WWE Alexa Bliss (Battle Pack w/Nia Jax). 2 pairs of hands repainted from DC Collectibles Arrow Black Canary. The cuffs are cut from the ends of 2 6" TBS General Veers' holsters (which I had used for the 6" Imperial Officer customs). Boots from DC Collectibles Batman Arkham City Talia Al Ghul - the feet weren't articulated so I cut them off and dremeled them to fit the Atomica ankle pegs, then hollowed out the boot calf pieces to slot over the Atomica lower legs.

Repainted and modified cowl from 6" TBS Rey (w/Jakku speeder). Goggles cut and repainted from helmet of 3.75" TVC 72 Naboo Pilot with elastic attached. Harness straps made from synthetic leather strips. Harness disc is made from a plastic washer cut to shape with an added smaller plastic disc. Repainted and modified belt from 6" TBS 22 Jyn Erso - added a plastic piece for lightsaber hook, back holster is from 6" TBS 44 Rey Jedi Training. Retouched holdout blaster from 3.75" POTF/EU Mara Jade. Side blaster and lightsaber from 6" TBS 56 Jaina Solo.

Thanks to everyone for your comments on the Mara Jade. Back to the current Expanded Universe, but this time in 3.75"

Black Krrsantan & Dr Aphra (Marvel Comics)

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50960820906_ab6fe43794_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50960120028_505d9b2d8b_c.jpg)

Black Krrsantan custom: Uses parts from 2 TBS Merumeru figures. I replaced the right shield forearm on one with a left one from the other. The head is from a POTJ Chewbacca Mechanic with the deadlocks attached from a Merumeru. The bandolier is made combining parts from the 2 Merumeru. The spikes on the shoulder plates are horns cut from some cheap small dinosaur figures. The buckle is made from parts of the bandolier, with a piece of celtic knot jewellery in the centre. Bowcaster from SW Saga 03/14 Chewbacca Mynock Hunt.

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50960820811_ef3724e8d7_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50960820796_a8b6678314_c.jpg)

Dr Aphra with removable hat: Uses TVC 129 with modified head. I took off the hat w/hair piece from the head and dremeled out the inside of the hat to make it thinner and cut off the hair pieces - I left a little bit of the hair at the ends of the hat flaps and painted them as though they were straps. I thinned out and modified a hair piece taken off a Marvel Infinites Emma Frost, then repainted and glued it to the Dr Aphra head.

Thank you all for your comments on the Aphra customs, sorry I haven't responded sooner.

Here's some alternative faces and headscarf mods for 6" TBS Hoth Rebel Troopers. This is a great figure, but I wish they had made the cap without any scarf elements on it.

The first uses a repainted face cut from 6" TBS 23 Cassian Andor. I took off the long scarf and added pieces cut from a 3.75" TVC 116 Rey Jakku scarf head around the cap. All goggles' elastic replaced with white.

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51010777920_7e4ffb41f5_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51079268593_400bd8d980_c.jpg)

Below: Head from 6" TBS Archive Han Hoth with alternative repainted & cut down headscarfs from 6" TBS 22 Jyn Erso. I really don't like this small Han head on the Han Hoth, but the size works well with this all-over headscarf.

Below left: Repainted face cut from 6" TBS 40th Death Squad Commander and long scarf replaced with longer scarf cut from 6" TBS 23 Cassian Andor cap. Below Right: Repainted face cut from 6" TBS 27 Director Krennic and repainted scarf.

I agree with previous commentators, Krrsantan & Dr Aphra look most impressive! Had the same thougt as Tamer when I saw his Bowcaster - that's such a brilliant use of the missile-firing version. Even a toy can look realistic right? Also love the golden gear on Krrsantan and the scar on his face looks extremely well done, too!
Aphra is still my favorite, she looks like the 6" version scaled down. It's such a shame that Hasbro didn't make the single card release with a removable hat, instead of a sloppy repack of the Special Figure Set. How did you make her hair then? Is it sculpted and the hat drilled out? She looks amazing!

I agree on the Hoth Rebel Soldier. A helmet without any any sculpted cloth elements would've been nice. Still, it's great to see how much variety comes with just one figure. The two different face plates were such a milestone and I wish every The Black Series figure came with that many accessories...

Thanks, glad you like them.
I took off the original hat w/hair piece from the head and cut off the hair pieces - I left a little bit of the hair at the ends of the hat flaps and painted them as though they were straps - then dremeled out the inside of the hat to make it thinner. The new hair piece is taken off a Marvel Infinites Emma Frost (I used this one mainly because I had spares, but I had to thin it quite a lot, there may be other hair pieces that are already a bit thinner and don't need as much taking off), I dremeled it on the inside and out, then cut hair texture back into the surface, repainted and glued it to the Dr Aphra head.
Hope that helps.

6" TBS Archive Luke Hoth with soft goods scarf and alternate faces.

The mod on Luke started with me just wanting to do a better scarf that wraps around the cap and use the goggles from the Hoth Trooper, but as always it got a bit more complicated...

I used the idea of the Hoth Trooper's alternate faces to modify the Luke head. The clean face is cut from a 6" TBS Luke Snowspeeder (which I had previously taken off to put a Luke Bespin head on). I cut some off the peak of the cap to reshape it and replaced the cap radio with one from the Hoth Trooper. I added a piece to the neck that was cut from a 3.75" TVC 116 Rey Jakku scarf head. Goggles from 6" TBS Hoth Trooper with elastic replaced and slightly modified to fit over the nose better.

The 'Wampa Attack' face is the existing Luke Hoth face, cut off to make into an alternate face and repainted. The top of the cap can be taken off to swap the face. I cut a slot at the back of this to thread the length of new material through (this was the best colour I could find for material that doesn't fray, but I would like to find a lighter brown).

Wow that Luke is great. Love the roughed up version after the Wampa got a hold of him.

Off to share this on the front pages.

Thanks again for your comments. Here's the details of the 6" TBS Archive Han Hoth with soft goods hood, scarf and removable cap.

The mod on Han started with me just wanting to make the existing plastic hood fit better, but as always...

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51079397978_919a03a5ab_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51079397953_0f35670886_c.jpg)

The soft goods hood was made using material from a Jedi robe (Possibly TVC Obi-Wan). I made it so it slots over the neck peg which keeps it in place, and can also be taken off easily. I glued small bits of fur to the hood. The Jedi robe material used for the hood is quite a reddish-brown compared to the jacket, which is what prompted me to weather the jacket and disguise the colour difference. I didn't want to put too much snow effect on the hood though and risk making it stiff. Soft goods scarf is the same type of strip material I used on Luke's (I also used this material on the 3.75" versions I did a few years ago), I cut a small slot in the front of the jacket to push the scarf into. Removable cap is made from a hollowed out Hoth Trooper head (I used the face mount from this on the Luke Hoth head custom) with the scarf elements cut away and the top and bottom pieces glued together. Existing goggles have been cut out to resemble Han's goggles shape a bit more and covered with a clear piece cut from TVC figure packaging, then added white elastic. Plastic scarf neck piece from Hoth Trooper. The existing Han Hoth head from this figure is what I used on the Hoth Trooper custom with the all-over head scarf.

The head is from the Comic Con Han & Leia Hoth 2-pack (which I recently got 2 of at quite a reasonable price), an alternative would be the 40th Han Bespin head, but I used the 2-pack version as it's a bit paler which suited this better. I took the hair off and thinned it out on the inside to make it a bit slimmer to fit the cap I had made, then glued the hair back on.

Slightly repainted electrobinoculars fitted with synthetic leather strap.

Han's scanner/transmitter is pulled off the Tauntaun saddle (why did they basically make an accessory then glue it to the saddle?), I made a panel to fill the gap left on one side and added greeblies from bits of plastic and used pins for antennas. Straps are made from painted ribbon.

Feel free to ask if anything in that description was a bit confusing.

Wow. The soft goods hood alone is awesome, but all those accessories are just fantastic too. Wow, this is a great Hoth Han.

Off to share on the front pages.

Han looks great. I really like the work you did on the scanner. I don't do the 6" but you're right, its really too bad when there a perfectly good accessory rendered unusable because it is glued somewhere.

Thank you so much for the comments everyone. Glad you liked the Hoth customs.

Nothing new just yet, I'm currently working on a 6" Luke [Myrkr Capture] from 'Heir To The Empire' to go with the Mara Jade I did - which I have also done a soft goods cowl for.

Finally got round to taking some photos of the custom 6" Mara Jade & Luke Skywalker from Heir To The Empire.
Mara Jade soft goods cowl made from chamois leather (added to the figure first shown here: http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=9737.msg223920#msg223920 )

Luke Skywalker (Myrkr Capture): 6" TBS 40th Anniversary Luke Dagobah with repainted legs and head from 6" TBS Luke Endor. Cut up pieces from 6" TBS 22 Jyn Erso headscarf with the plastic hood cut from ROTS-28 Anakin cloak to make waist overalls section.

Thanks for your comments, here's a customised 3.75" Princess Leia Organa (Yavin Ceremony).
I never got hold of the updated Vintage Collection Yavin Leia, so I did my own version with soft goods skirt.

(https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51645402993_26120072f4_c.jpg) (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51646034625_e3fc934a99_c.jpg)

Head from TVC187 Leia (Bespin) with hair piece removed. Hair bun, torso, arms, belt & soft goods gown parts from TBS boxed Leia (Yavin Ceremony). Modified Legs section from EP1 Queen Amidala (Coruscant). The soft goods skirt is 2 pieces of a white Optoplast Microfibre Lens Cleaning Cloth stitched together.

I cut the existing gown in half and each side is glued and slotted into the sides of the torso piece to be more like the actual costume.

This might be the best Yavin Leia I have ever seen. Wow. At a loss to describe how awesome I think this is.

Off to the front pages. Such a work of art. Bravo sir!

I waited a while to add my comment. I really appreciate that you added the how-to and recipe for this beauty of a custom! Your Leia figure looks absolutely stunning! I'm also impressed by the quality of your pictures. I'm jealous and that's an impression I rarely have. I'm also mad at the current brand team for Star Wars over at Hasbro that they've been doing such a sloppy job at many figures especially of Princess Leia. Let's hope they'll do such an awesome job on ANH Leia for TVC as they did on the latest Ahsoka (Mandalore). Also their Yavin Ceremony Leia for The Black Series looks incredible for that price point.
You got serious customizing skills, Sir.

Thank you all so much for your comments. I'm glad you like that Leia so much.

I'm pleased to see Hasbro focusing a lot more on the TVC line again, but I too have been disappointed with some of the updates on them - there's no consistency. It's frustrating when a lot of them are just new printed faces, rather than adding articulation or soft goods which could do so much to improve them. I didn't like their updated Yavin Leia, but I think the TVC Bespin Leia head that I used on this custom is the best Leia face they've done. So yes, let's "hope" they finally do an ultimate TVC ANH Leia.
