man pete, I almost... almost like that speeder better with the white color scheme better.  It makes it look more like a clone trooper's bike.  maybe to make it look better with the new rider you should paint more black on him?  idk... it still looks awesome.  I can't get over the blades on the front end.  I'm not kidding when I say I've been mulling over that idea for ages and could never get it to look right....  I always made it too complicated , wanting spring loaded blades to swing out from the sides or some crazy crap like that.

Post by: Cubanpete24 on August 22, 2009, 10:26:45 PM
well the reason I painted it all black for the contest, was because I had to modify it for the contest so says the rules.

also, I'm done with yet another custom. I was awake all night painting this, jacked up on coffee and kool-aid.

everything I used, kool-aid included

I like that last one.  Honestly, I have yet to get a cammando fig.  I don't think I'd know what to do with one.  I can't get into the custom clone mindset, I'm so stuck on boba, mandos, bounty hunters, and other underworld thugs to think about all the different versions of clones.... of course I have done a few clones here and there though.

I've been thinking of customizing a mandalorian, but I wouldn't dream repainting my Evolutions boba Fett.
Title: Re: Cubanpete's customized Clone/stormtroopers.
Post by: spudafett on August 22, 2009, 10:54:11 PM
i've never opened my evolutions pack... I've been trying to track down a cheap loose fig and/or trying to be patient enough for the repack of the evolutions boba to come out as a single card to do a super articulated version of him.  I've had in my mind forever to do a "ultimate boba" pack where he has all the different parts possible to have.

ultimately the idea goes like this:
a basic boba fett figure that has removable Helmet/chest/back/shoulder/cod peice/etc armor that can be switched from ESB/ROTJ/Animated debut colors

Both jetpack versions

Extra armor add-ons (like the repainted gi-joe Wraith Removable armor) as well as suped up jet packs  (maybe even a youzong vong (sp?) crab armor version of the mando armor?)

extra greeblies to bring out each distinct gauntlet weopon, (removable flame effect, monofilament lasso, darts, jango style blades etc)

customized slave 1 to go with figure...

customized han solo in carbonite

extra weopons boba has been seen with in the toy lines as well as in the movies/cartoons.  (ex: lightsaber! vibro-staff, etc)

the box for which he fights vader for, from the comic "enemies of the empire" (I think that's it....)

a customized version of the droid from star wars droids (the one that was just released in the dark trooper build a droid set)

A custom built ARTICULATED version of the animated holiday special monster boba is seen riding on....

alot of ideas for the ultimate boba fett action figure set...  the hardest part will be making a set of removable armor.  I think I might have to just do the three different versions of him instead of doing it that way....

anyways, I kind of got off on my own little tangent there, sorry  ::)

another Badass feature should be removable flames from the jetpack, I don't know which figure, but one boba fett figure has uberbad articulation, but has these awesome flames  going out of the jetpack, whch are removable.

and I love Boba Fett, and the thought of having a box set of all the things on your list made me jizz myself.
Title: Re: Cubanpete's customized Clone/stormtroopers.
Post by: spudafett on August 22, 2009, 11:09:36 PM
dang pete, you would think of something I forgot!  that removable flame detail is perfect.

Oh and the sarlac playset too! gotta have that.... lol

and a battle damaged sarlac entrail covered version of boba to go with it. :)

while we're talking about Boba fett, have you seen the robot chicken sketch where Boba Fett falls into the Sarlecc pit.

hasbro should release the ultimate Boba Fett playset. I'd wait in line to get it.

LOVE robot chicken, definately one of the best ones is the sarlac and boba... I still think the luke vs vader yo mamma joke sketch is my favorite though.

That's a good looking rc, pete I didn't recognize the backpack. Did you make that one?
Title: Re: Cubanpete's customized Clone/stormtroopers.
Post by: Cubanpete24 on August 24, 2009, 03:47:38 PM
somewhat

the rc I used was in a comic pack, the commando was blank, which is just what I needed.

for the backpack, I had to get creative, because I wanted this commando to be special. I cut up 2 of these guns, which back then I would dread, but now, they're everywhere

and painted them Catachan green.

Wow Pete,  Awesome work on the figure and speeder.  I think I like the white version of the speeder better though.  It had a different color scheme than any I have seen.  Why not incorporate the white in your new black speeder where the black was on the white one.  Maybe it will bring the red out better.  Just a sugestion.  As for your rider . . . it looks great.  I wouldn't change a thing.  Good work.

my new speederbike *where progress is slow because of school and homework*

Iwant to make the speederbike look like wherever Number 7 went, he would be able to camp out. so far I'm just applying th second coat of paint so it looks like a real speederbike.

Awesome RC, cubanpete! is the comic pack RC fully articulated, or does it have the same crap as the other commandos released in packs? I'd really love to do a set of full-articulation custom RCs from the xbox game and one set from the books (delta and omega squads, respectively), but with the whole paint job being the silvery/metallic that it was in the game... the pure white never looked right to me in the released figures! Omega also needs a little accent coloring over the flat black, just enough so you can tell who's who but the black is the majority, gotta stay stealthy!
Title: Re: Cubanpete's customized Clone/stormtroopers.
Post by: Commander_Kurgan on August 29, 2009, 02:07:31 AM
The Comic Pack RC is the same as the other older RCs re. articulation.
The Fi Skirata figure in the EVO Commando pack, however, has knee and ankle articulation. I'm not sure if Hasbro has given Fi ball-jointed shoulders now, too.

I havn't been very active on the customizing front, which I apologize for, I've been focusing on the speederbike build off

also if you are interested in the weapon recipes, just ask, I feel that they will look much better if a professional does them. I'm still trying to get used to the the techniques of the hot glue gun technique

that boba looks awesome.  Love the black against the white background.  can we get some shots of the decal on his shoulder pad?  I can't make it out.  Also I'd like to see some better shots of those guns, and the recipes.  I might have to make one of the bazooka styled gun myself.

Post by: spudafett on September 11, 2009, 09:57:59 PM
I just looked back over those and I REALY need to know how you made those pistols! lol

Looking at the repainted fett... I realy realy like that one as well but I would recomend repainting the pouches too.  Not necessarilly the front ammo pouches but the side pockets that hang down... that stupid pinkish color they came in is something I've always hated and it definately clashes with the rest of your color scheme...
I also like the detailing added to the thigh pockets, you need to go back and do that to more of the figure, around the legs and the arms some.
btw: VERY clean paint apps!

alright, I'll provide the rocket launcher tutorial first. I've altered the design,  but only becasue I used a mildly rare rifle in my rocket launcher, so I changed it so ALL the pieces are easy to find, and not expensive.

here are all the guns you need for the rocket launcher.

which are all convienently packed in these boxes, which come with many figures you buy.

let's start with the Droid rifle, sorry for low quality, I had to use one hand, anyway, cut the front part of the droid rifle,

then, cut the scope off the entire gun itself.  and then you have this. congratulations, you have the scope, and trigger of the rocket launcher

now that the droid rifle part is done, let's move on to the DC-15 rifle,

cut the front barrel off, like so, KEEP THE FRONT BARREL!

Let's move on to the EMP gun.

to be continued, have to go somewhere

Holy crap, those guns rock! I am totally stealing your idea for some of those, I've been stuck for new weapons to cannibalize those countless locker weapons! I actually started making a telescope for some reason... talk about sculptor's block!

Title: Re: Cubanpete's customized Clone/stormtroopers.
Post by: spudafett on September 13, 2009, 04:55:25 AM
pete after seeing all these i had to set down at the table and work on a bunch of my own.  I got a ton of fodder accessories in an e-bay auction that were all for 7" figs so I'm trying to figure out ways to cannibalize them into smaller guns better suited for 3.75" figs....
Title: Re: Cubanpete's customized Clone/stormtroopers.
Post by: Cubanpete24 on September 13, 2009, 10:29:37 AM
I'm sorry, I was too bust constantly pressing F5 on the imperial shipyards speederbike build off contest, but then I soon realized that when it was 12:00 where I lived, it was 9:00 on the forums.

anywho.......

alright, separate the trigger, from the barrel

then, cut one small part of a barrel, cut the area that has a lot of ridges, here is the gun once you separated all the pieces.

and here is the only piece you need from the gun.

now, let's move on to the sniper rifle

separate all the segments like so

but you only need this part

alright, you now have all pieces for the rocket launcher

then from here, it's the leg process, just hot glue em' together

Post by: Cubanpete24 on September 13, 2009, 04:20:08 PM
now onto the pistols, these were a blast to make, and really easy,

Yoy'll need a DC-15 blaster, and a sniper rifle, all convienently packed in the lockers. which can all be recycled from the rocket launcher

let's start wit hthe sniper rifle

cut the scope off the pistol if you havn't already done so, cut excess plastic, so the scope looks like a barrel. moving on, cut the bottom part of the DC-15 rifle like so

now just put the pieces together, I didn't hot glue the pieces, which is why the gun looks wierd i nthe picture.

as an added bonus, you can put the bottom part of the pistol on any part of the gun, like so

for everyone at the Imperial shipyards.

I am very, very   SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRY, for not being active, schoolwork has started piling up, and Halo ODST has been released, so, I've been kind of busy,

nontheless, almost any ounce of freetime I had has been dedicated to this one figure,

 a phase 1 number 7.

Don't worry Cubanpete, it's only us sad "old" Starwars geeks who saw Star Wars back in 77 who hang around here for far too much of our day, you enjoy Halo (guys, who the hell is Halo?), you young kids go...have fun....have girlfriends....play (sob) video games (sob), yes, that's right we'll (sob be here for you (sob, sob) when you decide to return to us....We won't miss you.....(boooo...hooo.hoo)

(I'm ok....I'm ok!) (deep breath, deeep breath)

Love the Custom CubanPete, I especially love the detailing on the rifle that matches the paintwork on the figure. The lines on the figure are tight! (Don't show Wraith9, cos he'll get jealous..and when he get's jelous his teeth fall out!)

Ahhh to be young again!

p.s, I think you have the coolest name on the site!

Age is nothing more than how you want to feel.  Today, I'm feeling every one of my 32 years, plus some!  Anyway, your clone looks really nice CP!  I especially like the custom rifle of his!  How is that Halo ODST compared to Halo 3?  Game play similar, or is a big ol shoot-em-up?
Title: Re: Cubanpete's customized Clone/stormtroopers.
Post by: Cubanpete24 on October 10, 2009, 08:40:03 AM
halo 3 ODST is more pr so like a "pussified" version of halo 3, but not in the way you think of.

-you run slower

-you can't dual wield

-you can't jump as high

-no rechargable health.

but I like this, it goes back to form, it feels a lot like Halo CE.  I loved the story, but it's way too short, firefight makes up for it 8/10

ENOUGH TALK ABOUT HALO! THIS IS A STAR WARS FORUM!!

-plus GI joe and other collectables forum.....hmm,

well anyway it's a fun game.

star wars will always be first in my heart... but star trek had something star wars hadn't had until now, a good sustainable multiple season television show... and star trek not only had one but an entire franchise!  I grew up watching star trek voyager every week with my parents and it was a family time I looked forward to.   After that I got into watching every episode of TNG with my parents... they dutifully taped every episode onto vhs, and then RE-recorded them to dvd when DVR came into existance...

LOL, I thought the same thing, Doc. I remember watching next generation first run episodes when I was in college.
When did Voyager start?

I'm a Trekkie too, Generations and then Worf joining the crew of Ds9 started me on.  I was a teenager then and I appreciate alot of Trek more the older I get.  I love Enterprise and its revisionist look at the pre-UFP days of Starfleet.  And I LOVED the new Star Trek movie, I had to see it 3 times at the theater.   (Nemesis and Insurrection were both garbage... and is it just me or were there a couple seasons of TNG that went nowhere for 20 of the 22 episodes?   Yesterday's Enterpise and Best of Both Worlds part 1 were the only redeamable things from season 3.  And Season 2 and Dr. Pulaskis are better forgotten about altogether... )

But I've been a fan of Star Wars since I was 3 years old and my parents took me to see Return of the Jedi, so it will always be closer to my heart.  Then they got me the toys of black clad Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett.  That was it, I was hooked for life then!

Oh yeah, star wars will always hold the majority of my heart... but I think the left ventrical belongs to star trek...

and guys, I'm only 22....

I guess when I say "growing up" I mean from 10+ (I think that's when I realy got hooked into voyager)... I know it was before I moved from my first home in western ky so many years ago...  so I had to be at least 8-10...

lol.. I'm just a youngling ;)

I had the Obi Wan jedi general figure at hand.

I really wasn't a fan of his headskulpt, So I replaced it with my Biggs darklighter head, and painted his armor so it's reminiscent of the 501st armor trim.

I hope you've enjoyed it.

YES!   Hell Yes!

the Jedi wearing actual, legit unit colors on his clone armor is a stroke of GENIUS pure and simple, I've never seen it done before.  Fantastic!
