Title: OC47150's creations
Post by: OC47150 on December 31, 2014, 02:08:35 PM
I'll end the year with a couple of posts of custom figures. It's been something I've wanted to do for some time.

This is my version of the Mythos Obi-Wan Kenobi figure. Based it off some of the first pix that were revealed.

The second is a Luke Skywalker figure based on Splinter of the Mind's Eye.

Here's a couple of more.

This is a custom Gran I made for a diorama for my SW club's diorama contest. I modeled him after an Old West snake oil salesman, in particular the guy in The Outlaw Josey Wales. If you've seen the movie, you know who I'm talking about. He's a simple repaint but in bright colors.

And the Gran in action.

A Republic Commando in black armor. Used one of the Scorch bodies and added a generic clone head

And last for today are a generic mercenary and a couple of generic Clone Wars Jedi.

The merc's torso is the removable armor Jango Fett, the Hoth Rebel soldier head, and the legs are the cantina Brainiac figure.

Had a couple of extra CW figure bodies and just swapped heads. The clone Jedi is a little bit of a repaint.

Nice update. I love the Outlaw Josie Wales. I can remember him spitting on that dude and then pushing him into the manure when recognizes Josie in town. Great movie, great custom. Off to share on the front page.

I like the Gran too.

Nice kitbashing on Luke too.
Splinter of the Mind's Eye?!?.
Wow, the first EU book.  I didnt think anyone remembered that.  Alan Dean Foster wrote that between episodes 4 & 5.  Canon quickly rendered a decent novel obsolete.

What a way to start off the new year! On the front page! Thanks, Tamer.

I'm old enough to remember when Splinter of the Mind's Eye first came out, Sjefke. I used the comic adaptations for visual inspiration. It's a storyline I've always enjoyed.

A few more for the weekend.

An Ithorian senator. Used Hammerhead's head, hands and feet on a ROTS Mon Cal senator.

A generic Jabba's guard is next. I created him for another contest.

My SW club, the Kentucky Star Wars Collectors Club, has had a table at the Lexington (KY) Comic and Toy Show for the last few years, and I try to create a unique custom for the show. This one was from two years ago.  It's a repaint of the AOTC  Colman Trebor figure.

Annikin Starkiller from The Star Wars. Used the ceremonial Luke body and a Hobbit Legalos head.

A blind Jedi. I was lucky enough to find the GI Joe Retaliation blind master figure. I mixed the Mace Windu and the Eeth Koth body to create a different Jedi body.

This is my version of an Episode 7 Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker. I used one of the TPM vintage Obi-Wan body's and a Luke head from one of the comic two-packs and aged him.

These last pix are some of my favorites. I'd been wanting to create these customs for a while but thought simply painting them wouldn't do. So this summer I came across the Men in Black 3 figures at Tuesday Morning, and the rest is history. I took first place in my club's customs contest with the group. The weapons are from various GI Joe figures.

I call them the New Jedi Order.

Nice job on these customs. The MIB homage is pretty great. I really liked that you went back to Splinter of the Mind's Eye for a version of Luke. I would have loved to see Kenner (or Hasbro in the EU) do a couple of figures from that story - especially Hin and Kee.

Congrats on the win.  I like them too.  I also picked up a couple of MIBs at TM in case I ever found a head that looked like Phil Coulson of SHIELD.  The Ithorian is great too.

My club has two events, a comic/toy show and a display at the local library, for the next two weekends. I created a couple of new customs for the shows.

Remember in the old Marvel SW comics Luke ran around most of the time in his farmboy outfit? A buddy and I joked that he probably didn't have time to shop for new duds. I created this one based on an old Marvel pix I saw. Sorry about the quality of the pix. I might repost a better one later.

I used the ceremonial Luke body, swapped the head to be more ANH-ish, and painted the jacket.

This next one is a Bail Organa before ANH. Used the Bespin guard body, the Biggs cape and a standard Bail head. I dry-brushed white paint around the temples and goatee just to age him a bit.

The final is an Angry Birds send-up. I took the Emperor Pig and placed it on an Emperor's body and repainted it black. Been wanting to do that one for a while.

I will post a few more in the coming weeks.

A couple of customs to end the weekend.

A younger version of Qui-Gon. Straight repaint: darkened the hair and gave his robes a different color.

A Naboo pilot with the jacket. I used the POTF2 Endor Han cloak and painted it orange.

I created this one for a comic show last year. Took one of the POTF2 Obi-Wan's and gave him the old '70s colors.

Couple of more customs.

A CW Republic medical officer. Used the ROTS Tarkin and painted him white.

A post-ROTS Republic officer. Again, used the ROTS Tarkin and put a clone head on it.

One of my first customs was a Weequay Jedi. Used one of the TPM Qui-Gon's body and swapped heads.

A pair of Nikto Jedi. Used the AOTC Nikto figures but removed the cloaks.

Saw these Doctor Who figures at Walgreens at Christmastime, but couldn't bring myself to pay $10. They were clearance out in the last month, so I picked up a couple.

The first one is Doctor Dooku. I might paint his vest, just to add some more color. The second one is Professor Obi-Wan. I used the hat and attaché case form the Indiana Jones Last Crusade line's Henry Jones to make Obi-Wan look a little more academic.

My final pix are entries for another contest I entered in the last week. The theme was bounty hunters. For the human, I used a Garindan body and the Baron Fel head from the comic two-pack, and just painted. The Ithorian's waist was swapped out; I used the waist from the Bothan because of the molded holster. The rest is a repaint. Nothing done to the massif.

I have a few things in the works but don't know if I'll have anything done before going to Celebration.

My SW club is having its annual fund-raising auction this weekend, and I came up with a couple of custom figures to contribute.

The first is a simple repaint of a Gonk droid. I've seen other customs of Gonk droids in bright colors and thought they looked good.

I attended a con earlier this year and came across this Army of Darkness action figure set. The swords and gear gave me the inspiration to take a spare Clone Wars Obi-Wan and turn him into a Middle Ages/Templar-style knight.

It's funny how an idea just clicks when you find the right accessories. I wanted to add a plume to the helmet, but haven't found the right material. A feather is too big.

I have a second knight in the works, but he'll have a shield.

A couple more customs.

This one is another figure for my club's auction this weekend. It's a 'what if' figure. What if the events in the Phantom Menace never took place, and Qui-Gon Jinn lived for many years? My interpretation of what an elder Qui-Gonn would look like. Just a simple repaint of a PM Qui-Gon.

One of my favorite Clone Wars comic storylines was the battle of Jabiim, in particular when the padawans were on their own and have to fight. This is an Aqualish Jedi who fought in the battle. Used a ROTS Mace Windu body.

My version of Jedi Jacen Solo. Used a ROTS Obi-Wan Kenobi body and one of the Narnia kids' heads.

This is one of my favorites. It's Gnost Dural, a Jedi from the SW: Old Republic Annihilation novel. Used all CW body parts for this figure.

I'll post a few more pix over the weekend.

A couple of more customs.

Mara Jade Skywalker. Used the Mara head from one of the comic 2-packs and the Adi Gallia body.

A Bothan Jedi. I used a Ki-Adi Mundi body and the Bothan head from the comic 2-pack.

The last is a creation for another customs contest. Kasia 'Kassie' Sainio of Alderaan is an intelligence operative working for the Rebel Militia. She has the uncanny ability to blend into whatever environment she finds herself in, as if she's a native. This skill has helped her collect vital information for the Militia...and stay alive while working undercover.

Recipe:
* Head: Marvel Scarlett Witch
Torso: Bultar Swan from the comic two-pack
Legs: ROTS Aayla Secura
Vest: Rebel trooper from the comic two-pack

Long overdue for posting some more customs. Made the time to take some pix today and here are some of the results.

First up are two generic Jedi, a male and a female. For the male, I used an Obi-Wan body, the arms from Talon Kaarde and the head is from one of the Target two-packs.

I used a TPM Adi Galia body and the Scarlet Witch head for the female Jedi. Added a head post for the SW's head to work.

The next one is an Imperial Security Bureau officer. Used the Imp body from a comic two-pack with Luke in disguise, a head from an extra Imp officer and repainted accordingly.

I had fun doing a series of different Obi-Wan figures last year.

First up, Obi-Wan Commando. An OW head on a GI Joe Shipwreck body, and accessories.

Swashbuckling Obi-Wan. An OW head on a Pirates of the Caribbean figure.

Miami Vice Obi-Wan. OW head on a Men in Black 3 body (think it's one of the baddies.) Painted him in bright colors. This figure won first in my club's customs contest last year.

I'm a fan of the Walking Dead, so I had to put a SW spin on it. Here's Obi-Wan in a zombie-filled world. I used a GI Joe Firefly figure and the crossbow from Zartan for this creation.

I previously made a Templar Knight Obi-Wan. I made a second one, but with a different paint scheme and a cape. The swords are from an Army of Darkness playset.

Post by: OC47150 on May 30, 2016, 11:36:13 AM
Captain Ben Kenobi of the Special Operations Executive. OB head on an Indy Jones body. The shirt is painted a light blue.

Finally, I had these extra Pirates of the Caribbean parts. So I created Captain Jack Jedi. Used a spare ROTS Obi-Wan body, shaved down the pouches so Jack's belt could fit over the torso. And painted in POTC bright colors. I'm pleased with how it turned out.

I have a few more pix to post in the next week or so.

A few more customs to show off.

A post-ROTS Bail Organa. Repainted a Bespin guard body and the cape from the casual Biggs Darklighter for a little flair. Also added a little grey to Bail's temples.

This is what when the Star Wars and SHIELD universes collide. A bad a$$ Mace.

I came across the rough Bad Batch episodes from the Clone Wars, and really liked Hunter, the leader of the group. I used one of the TRU exclusive stealth ops clone trooper body's and the head from the GI Joe Spirit figure. Tried to match the paint scheme as much as I possibly could based on the pix.
Title: Re: OC47150's creations
Post by: OC47150 on July 29, 2016, 04:52:31 PM
Another shot of Hunter from Bad Batch.

Read the SW Dark Forces trilogy the other year. In one of the books there was the mention of an Imp intel officer working deep undercover as a mercenary. i used the Endor Rebel body and a clone trooper head. The beret and hard vest are from Marauder. All have been dirtied up.
Title: Re: OC47150's creations
Post by: OC47150 on July 29, 2016, 05:07:45 PM
Last pix are non-SW related.

i like the TV show The Last Ship, and Tex was one of my favorite characters. (Where the heck is he this season?) For my version of Tex, I used the GI Joe Shipwreck body. Don't ask me where the head came from; I got it in a trade from a fellow customizer and thought it was approprite.

I've seen The Hurt Locker several times, but it was during a recent viewing that the British private contractor scene caught my eye. Again, I used the Shipwreck figure, and a heavily painted Dastan head from the Prince of Persia toyline. The Jedi cloak has been faded with bleach and sunlight, and then dirtied up. The assault vest was also painted a light tan.

Awesome customs! The hurt locker guy looks great with the custom cloak.

Thanks.

The cloak started off either as Obi-Wan or Mace Windu's robe. The hood was removed, and I don't think I let it soak too long in the bleach/water solution and set in the sun.

Long overdue for an update. The holidays are over and I'm getting my custom materials out of storage.

Here are pix of items I did last fall. Have several new customs in the pipeline.

First up is a Mando. Came across this GI Joe head (it's from the cancelled Jurassic Park line) at a toy show and knew it would be perfect for a Mando. He just looks like a rough customer with the face tattoo. The backpack is from a Falcon figure.

Next is a generic Republic Commando. The figure was the plain white commando that came in the comic two-pack. I added the generic clone head, and painted it. The paint scheme resembles Sev.

Post by: OC47150 on January 29, 2017, 05:39:05 PM
Before Rogue One, I made a generic Rebel commando based on pictures from magazines and the internet. He looks like he's suited more for fighting in the desert than Scarif. I used the Prune Face body. The head is a GI Joe. The coat is Endor Han's trench coat bleached to a lighter color.

Last summer/fall, the website did a contest for a heavy AT-AT gunner. I submitted an entry but wasn't completely happy with it. This is my original idea. Used the Commander Barc helmet, and he's carrying one of the rotary laser rifles.
Title: Re: OC47150's creations
Post by: OC47150 on January 29, 2017, 05:45:43 PM
Final customs are non-SW.

Came across one of the Marvel figures at the discount store. Thought he'd make a KOTOR Jedi but after studying him more, thought he'd make a better gladiator. Painted the legs flesh color. The Chest plate and helmet were painted bronze; the shoulder guard, dry-brushed bronze, is from one of the GI Joe Iron Grenadier figures. Made a skirt out of brown felt, and found the perfect sword in my junk drawer. His shield is from Captain America, painted bronze.

The last is my homage to the GI Joe Adventure from the early 70s. He's a big game hunter. Used the GI Joe Kwinn body, and painted the shirt a light green. (I added a little darker green paint under the armpits and down the spine to show he's been sweating.) The head is from one of the Elite Force figures. The hat is from GI Joe Recondo, and the bandana from Marauder.

More to come in the next few weeks. Promise.  ;D

Thanks. Really liked how the helmet worked for him.

Here's a quick one for the weekend. One of my favorite Dark Horse storylines was the battle of Jabiim, in particular the Padawan Pack. These are padawans who'd lost their masters, yet continued to fight. The one character that always stood out for me was Vaabesh, the Gand Jedi.

I used a Zuckuss head and hands on a Mace Windu body. The belt is from a Jango Fett, and the bandoleer is from the Vilmarh Grahrk figure. The legs and Jedi robe have been splashed with mud-like brown paint.

Have a few more figures that I need to photograph over the weekend.

Thanks. Here's an older Republic commando I did. Kinda a covert/special ops commando.

A couple more customs.

A Kanan Jarrus Jedi figure if he served during the Clone Wars.  The Kanan head fits nicely on the CW Obi-Wan figure, and a little paint makes him a little different.

A super articulated FO stormie Finn. This is one Hasbro should've gave us, IMO.

In the Mos Eisley street scene, when Luke, Obi-Wan and the droids are rolling into town, there's a non-descript guy just walking down the street. He intrigued me. Used a farm boy Luke figure, repainted the legs, and made a vest out of brown felt. May need to work on the vest a little more.

Finally, a sith acolyte. Used a Palpatine body; the sash is from a Maul figure. The head is a Joe Zartan painted two shades of grey to look sinister. The cowl is from a Kylo Ren figure.

I have a few more figures in various stages. Will post them in the coming weeks.

First up tonight is a SA Kanan Jarus in stormtrooper disguise. Bought a spare Kanan on sale and had an extra stormie lying around so I put both to use.

This next one I tossed together just last night. I won't take credit for the ideas; I saw someone else customize this figure recently and it gave me the idea. I attended a toy show earlier this month and found a spare Dash in the $1 box and used one of my extra Rebel pilots to make Dash Rendar, Rebel pilot at the battle of Hoth.

The next two are straight repaints, but I wanted to do something different. So I used bright colors and say they served during the Old Republic.

I still have a little touching up on this last Jedi. I was going to use a different head but came across this CW comic book at home, and it fell into place. Trying to get him a green Jedi cloak. Dying one of the dark brown robes with green Rit dye isn't working.

A couple of Rogue One customs for a Friday.

The first one is a Rebel commando I created for a customs contest on another sight. Sgt. Zayne Dremine is a pathfinder whose used to being first-in, last out on Rebellion missions. When he heard about the Scarif mission, he immediately volunteered even though he knew it was a suicide mission.

When this contest was first announced, I consulted the RO Visual Guide and trading cards, etc... for inspiration. After the research, I kept coming back to my original idea based on a WWII British paratrooper/commando. Someone who was rough and tumble.

Recipe: I used the arctic combat Snake Eyes with the hood removed. The torso is painted and dry-brushed multiple colors of green, brown and tan. Wanted to capture the look of the British Dennison smock. The legs are painted/dry-brushed brown and tan.

The head, helmet, rifle and backpack are from the Endor Rebel commando that came with the '07 tin set. Love the head sculpt, and couldn't find another that captured the essence of RO as well as this one.

The bandoleer is from IG-88.

The mines tucked under his arm are from a GI Joe set.

A pair of Rebel pilots. Used the head from the Marvel Agent 13/Sharon Carter on a spare female Rebel pilot body, and random Marvel head on a Dutch Vander figure. I dry-brushed their uniforms because the pictures I saw in the Visual Guide and trading cards had them a little dirty.

In the Jedha marketplace, a pair of Imperial officers are spotted walking among the booths. I used a spare Veers head on a Red Skull body, and painted the trenchcoat grey.

I still want to create one of Saw Guerra's crew but haven't gotten around to it. Have a couple of ideas but nothing's really clicked yet.

A couple of quick ones before I head off for Celebration.

Mara Jade as the Emperor's Hand. I've enjoyed the mystery surrounding this concept. Used the Black Widow body, and the Mara Jade head and gun belt from the comic 2-pack. Never have cared for the 70s Farrah Fawcett-style hair on the BS Mara. The cloak is from the vintage Prune Face.

Last is Ki-Adi Mundi in Clone Wars armor. Found a Ki-Adi at a toy show recently, and I have extra CW Obi-Wan bodies lying around. Did a little repaint and there you go.

Hoping to find some good custom fodder at Celebration!

Thanks. I know a lot of the reference shots had Mara in a sleeveless outfit but I liked the full bodysuit better.

I had two nice warm, sunny days so I bleached a Jedi robe to a lighter shade of brown and am dying it green. Once it's done I will add it to Dass Jennir.

As promised, here's a few of my creations.

First up is Obi-Wan Kenobi. I found an old vintage Ben Kenobi figure in the loose bin at the local comic shop and repainted it in the POTF2 colors. The cape is brown felt. I had fun fixing him up.

Next up is a Mando. I was inspired either by a cosplayer at Celebration or just surfing on the net. Thought the brown and tan color combo was different. The rifle is from the POTF2 AT-ST driver, and the cape is from an older GI Joe. Don't remember where I picked up the head.

For my club's dio contest, I created the Jedha marketplace dio. Needed some of Saw Gerrera's partisans, so I created some.

Used the EVO stormie helmet on a repainted Bane Malar figure. I dyed a Naboo pilot's coat wine-colored.

The third partisan is a combo of the ROTLA Cairo swordsman and thug.

The blue partisan is a Tatooine Luke with a TFA Unkar's thug's head. He's wearing a blue-dyed tusken raider robe.

Here are two customs I created for another contest, both winter-themed. My area had about 8 inches of snow on the first day of spring!

The Hoth ski patrol! Believe it or not, there is a little down time on Hoth, and for those troopers who get lost or injured while exploring, it's the ski patrol to the rescue! I used the TVC Hoth Luke head on a Hoth rebel trooper body. The skis, poles and snowshoes are from Gi Joe's Snow Job.

And a long-range recon patrol on tauntaun. These troopers are out for extended periods of time patrolling Hoth's frozen wastelands. It's the basic Hoth Rebel trooper accessorized with Commander Faie's smock and hood so he can better blend in with the environment. A pair of macrobinoculars are slung across his torso.

For both figures, I laid a paper plate on top of the snow so the figs wouldn't sink down.

I couldn't let May the Fourth pass without posting a couple of new customs.

First up is a generic Rebel Alliance/Resistance intelligence operative. The head is from the BS Imp Royal Guard (kinda looks like Archer's Krieger, doesn't he?), the jacket is from TLJ hermit Luke and the rest is the BS Cassian Andor (my new favorite body.)

Next is a pre-RO undercover Cassian Andor. The body is from the BS Starkiller Base Han, and the arms and head belong to the Cassian figure.

Last is a generic Resistance tech. Used the BS Rose body and the Bala Tik head from the rathtar set. The rifle is from some TFA or TLJ figure and the goggles are from the extras bin.

Sorry for the delay. Here's a few new creations.

On the Outer Rim world of Denali, the planet is governed by the criminal Umkon Vus. No one crosses Vus, a Iktotichi without paying for it. If anyone does, they have to deal with his chief enforcer Shoigu.

Vus's body is a repainted Mas Amedda body with a Saesee Tiin head. The patch is made from Green Stuff, my first attempt with it.

I used a ceremonial Luke torso with the head from General Zod. The vest is from a CW Cad Bane.

Timian is a hired gun, willing to work for whomever pays him the most. He roams the Mid- and Outer Rim worlds seeking work.

Yojimbo  and the Man with No Name inspired me for this creation. The body is a TFA Han (minus the winter coat), a Cassian Andor vest and a GI Joe Firefly head. I highlighted the scar on Firefly's head with red and pink paints.

This is a 'what if' figure. What if Ben Solo went into the family business of smuggling and didn't follow Uncle Luke and the Jedi path? Here's my interpretation of it.

The body is Cassian Andor with a random alien gun belt added in. The lightsaber, fortunately, had a small ring on the end, and I used a paperclip to attach it to the gun belt.

An articulated AT-DP trooper. He's seen zipping around on Lothal in the first episode of Rebels.

Used the AT-ST figure for the basis. The chest armor came from the Imperial gunner, and the shoulder armor from a clone trooper. The helmet is from the AT-DP figure but I dremeled a hole into it so it would fit onto the neck post. The head is a spare Dutch Vander I had lying around.

For the armor, I chose a darker grey. I've seen pictures of other customs of this figure and some chose a blue-grey for the armor. I watched the episode several times and found a good picture in SW Stormtrooper: Beyond the Armor that showed a darker, almost black. Also did a basic black wash to make him look dirty.

Renko is a petty criminal who roams Tatooine's wasteland, doing whatever it takes to survive...including killing.

The body is a moisture vaporator Luke. The robotic arm is from a CW Anakin. The head is from a Marvel figure; sorry, don't remember which one. The robe is from one of the Prince of Persia figures.

First up, a customized Mimban stormtrooper. I found an extra Mimban stormie at a toy show over the summer, and used a regular stormie body.

Final is a fall/Halloween-themed GNK droid.

This is a figure I recently completed for a contest.

I came across an Ep. 8 concept picture of Kylo Ren and had wanted to make him for some time.

The head is from an Ep. 8 5 POA Kylo figure, with the hair removed. A fellow customizer suggested using crazy glue to Green Stuff to fill in the head. When the glue was still wet, I sprinkled baking soda to add texture for the scarred look. I painted the head with a combo of pink and white paint (couldn't find my flesh colored paint) and then dabbed black hair in place with a Q-tip. (Not completely satisfied with the hair; it may go.) Also dabbed white paint in the right eye to look like it's bad.

The body is the BS Kylo with the skirt trimmed.

I've also wanted to create a six-inch version of this guy. Maybe later this summer.   ;D

Again, long overdue for posting. I've been creating some cool SW and non-SW figures lately. Here's the first round.

Ketwol the Pacithhip had fallen on bad luck. After the events of ANH, he opened a small shop in Mos Eisley where he sold odds and ends and brokered information.

Used the Ketwol figure and painted the torso and his legs. The jacket is a dyed Naboo pilot jacket. The beret is made from Green Stuff.

It's been too long since I posted anything. My own fault. Some were created last fall, the others more recently.

Six-inch Mando bounty hunter. Repainted Jango Fett figure with a Marvel Crossbones head.

Nadu is a former Imperial shock trooper-turned bounty hunter. The body is from the TFA Han, arms are from Bom Vimdon, the jacket from TLJ Luke. The head is from the Dime Store Legends line.

The idea for Leia came from a 90s Dark Horse comic. The body is Jyn Erso, and the head is the Hoth Leia.

Han in a deep-space pressure suit. It's a Fortnite body that's been dry-brushed to look dirty and used, and a Solo head.

Like a lot of you out there, I've been having fun with my Marauder figures and parts.

Here's a reimagined Indiana Jones. Never really liked the leg stance on the Hasbro figure. Swapped out with a new set of Marauder legs. I used a removable fedora from a different Indy figure. The utility belt is from Marvel Union Jack figure.

Nic Cage from Windtalkers.

I'm sure a few of you have seen Combat!, the WWII show from the 60s. Here's my version of Vic Morrow's Chip Saunders.

A couple of Germans. One is an Alpine trooper, and the second figure is based off a sketch of a German during the Battle of the Bulge. The blue thing around his neck is the top of a GI Joe turtleneck. The Germans wore a scarf or face wrap during the BOTB. I may swap it out with some grey clothe.
