Post by: jkno on November 07, 2014, 12:32:03 PM
Since there is no thread about the screen used AT-AT Driver costume here are some details and info recently discovered thanks to the cool Star Wars Costumes book:

Some classic pics - as per StarWarsHelmets site we already know the original suit was gray:

Here is also pictures of the elusive AT-AT Driver compad seen on their gloves:

But we can see the same compads on Ugnaughts:

Someone on RPF is making these new compads.

Wow, I am gonna have to go check that out and see if I can buy one. Thats the one thing with my costume I am not super excited about.

And Serg, I always appreciate your resource network. It is just outstanding. I have to be honest, If there is anything I want to verify as being screen authentic I always think of you first and consider your opinion to be unbiased and spot on. Thank You for always letting me bug you about things like this and always being willing to help!

I need to go get this on the front page.

that's just the pic we were looking for earlier trying to research this part.
See the serrated edges around the washer on the one close up, Shawn? I believe they used a similar reflective material to wrap that piece like I had tried but wasn't sure that I liked.

Various connectors that can be similar to those used on screen:

The most accurate AT-AT Driver helmet tusks made from original Michel darts - they were a limited run made in 2013 by ZombieKiller at RPF:

Comparison with Elvistrooper ones present on Laws, MonCal and most other AT-AT fan made helmets:

Gus, its great to see you here. Please post your order information for Shapeways on here so folks can go order one of these like I did! This is by far a vast improvement on the one I am currently using with my TA Outfit.

Time to get this update on the front page and welcome to ISY!

Hey Tamer, just be carefull when you put the keys in the base, they are a very tight fit and if you are not carefull (as I was not) you might break the little tabs that fit in. They are not seen so its no problem but just wanted to make you aware that the transparent material is not as strong as the other two. If you are going to paint the base with primer or gray color do that first then assemble... all pieces should have a tight fit but once you are ready use some superglue to ensure they stay there.

Will do. I have been so busy I haven't opened the box yet. I am gonna use it as a reward to myself when I get some of my work done (me and my weird rationalizations). The way it looked to me I doubt I will paint it though.

Did you paint the one you assembled?

Matter of fact it is time to get another news posting of this on the front page.
