Title: Clonewarsfan2011's Customs
Post by: clonewarsfan2011 on July 04, 2014, 12:13:36 PM
Hey Guys! I'm new to the "Yards" and also new to customizing. Here's my first ever attempt at customizing...

He's a clone wars ARC Trooper i kind of made up as i went along so he's not based off of any existing character although as i am a 501st fan i made him those colours.

I used a captain rex as the starting point
(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah173/alextthomp/Customs/Photo04-07-2014073313pm_zps478d01fd.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/alextthomp/media/Customs/Photo04-07-2014073313pm_zps478d01fd.jpg.html)

Then i repainted his hair brown and gave him a beard
(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah173/alextthomp/Customs/Photo04-07-2014073352pm_zps41e7e37f.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/alextthomp/media/Customs/Photo04-07-2014073352pm_zps41e7e37f.jpg.html)

Then i painted the lower parts of his legs silver and painted blue "501st" markings all over the figure
(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah173/alextthomp/Customs/Photo04-07-2014073441pm_zps3394a0cb.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/alextthomp/media/Customs/Photo04-07-2014073441pm_zps3394a0cb.jpg.html)
(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah173/alextthomp/Customs/Photo04-07-2014073452pm_zps54f0c988.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/alextthomp/media/Customs/Photo04-07-2014073452pm_zps54f0c988.jpg.html)

With his head back on
(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah173/alextthomp/Customs/Photo04-07-2014073518pm_zps02faf8dc.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/alextthomp/media/Customs/Photo04-07-2014073518pm_zps02faf8dc.jpg.html)

I then painted up the three ARC parts i bought from clint
(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah173/alextthomp/Customs/Photo04-07-2014073548pm_zps0dcef0e0.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/alextthomp/media/Customs/Photo04-07-2014073548pm_zps0dcef0e0.jpg.html)

And then it was completed

I like it! Especially the way that the head looks with the beard, and I like set design on the armor.

Welcome to the 'Yards!

Niiiiice arc. If that's your first custom I can't wait to see what comes next! Great job! I tried to make something similar out of the same figure.

Hey Guys! Its been a while but im back with a new custom! I still have the parts left over from the 2 figures so Im currently using them to create another custom jedi. not based off of any characters its simply just to use up the parts i have laying around. so as i said in my "sneek peek" post i was going to make a custom Jedi Master Ima-Gun Di so here is! Let me know what you guys think.

(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah173/alextthomp/thumbnail_IMG_1388_zpspnwgnaol.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/alextthomp/media/thumbnail_IMG_1388_zpspnwgnaol.jpg.html)

And also, heres an update of the custom jedi. The white armour pieces are eventually going to be painted a gunmetal grey.

Thanks Tamer! and finally here is the finished un-named jedi! I used the hood from the Nikto guard to give him a unique helmet too!

Here's what I'm going to be making next! Just awaiting on the base figure and some other parts to arrive! It's a concept art of clone trooper echo after he "died" at the citadel. In what was going to be season 7 of the clone wars we find out he's not actually dead but he was captured and had robotic arms and legs put on and was used for an algorithm that showed the fighting strategies of the republic. I love the look of this guy so decided I'm going to make a custom figure of him to add to my collection!

Finally started on the concept art Echo figure, and also starting 2 more projects...

(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah173/alextthomp/3420E46A-B3FC-4B5E-972C-4CE8801542C2_zpsfg00rkre.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/alextthomp/media/3420E46A-B3FC-4B5E-972C-4CE8801542C2_zpsfg00rkre.jpg.html)

The commander Cody is going to become a captain Lock and the Commander Ponds is going to become Captain Keeli to go with my Ima-Gun Di.
How ever, trying to strip the current paint off is not going as planned.

So for now, here's an update on the Echo figure....

(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah173/alextthomp/D5D05155-DE8B-4C4C-83A2-D9F11D831CB4_zpsi4rj4r1m.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/alextthomp/media/D5D05155-DE8B-4C4C-83A2-D9F11D831CB4_zpsi4rj4r1m.jpg.html)

All ive done so far is chopped the range finder off of the helmet, tried to strip the paint off using Nail Polish Remover how ever that doesn't work too well at all so ive had to repaint the whole figure as the white acrylic i have is a different shade to the plastic.. if anyone has any suggestions on removing the paint so i don't have to repaint the whole figure could you please let me know as it will save me alot of time!

Well then tamer, Here's another update!

Shouldn't be too long now! by the end of tomorrow should hopefully be done! Just have a few bits of black to touch up, make the holes on the helmet for the range finders to fit in and then going to attempt my first ever time at sculpting which is going to be the shoulder pads!

Just wanted to post a quick update, Almost finished now just got a few more bits of painting to do. repainted the top of the helmet white as i wasn't happy with the blue stripes previously... Finally got the shoulder pads sculpted and to a place where I'm happy with them. next step is to glue them on and paint them up then just got to attach the range finders then it will be done! I also decided to add a little detail to the shoulders by carving in the stripes that will be painted blue. Just thought it would add little more detail to them! Please let me know what you think!

First sculpt at shoulder pads:

Final shape of the shoulders:

Thank you! I was scrolling through whilst at work a couple of days ago and saw yours! And yeah the Lego rangefinders work really well for it. I couldn't get mine to glue in though it just wouldn't stick so they're balanced there!
