Title: Bigpadawans customs
Post by: bdc41866 on May 31, 2014, 12:08:38 PM
Hi folks. Ive been a member here and have enjoyed immensely viewing everyones creations and reading the forums. I thought it was about time I posted some of my own work. Ive been customizing mainly Star Wars action figures for about 5 years now. Most of my work is fairly simple. Kit bash jobs. But I do get inspired by everyone else so without any further ado...........

Ok time for a small update....finally. Here are two new customs that Ive been working on. First is a Nikto Morgukai super soldier from the Dark Horse Star Wars Republic comic book series. Im not quite done with him. Im considering adding some cortosis bracers and I havent decided on the look of his main weapon. The second is an Old Republic era Iktochi Jedi Consular. Im a huge SWTOR nut and Id love to see Hasbro or Bioware release more figures based on the game. In the meantime Ill concoct my own customs. Let me know what you think vadsab

Post by: bdc41866 on July 16, 2014, 06:41:23 PM
Ok folks pretty nice sized update this time. Finally had a couple quality days off from work (quiet time). If you ever need any inspiration, SWTOR is a great source as there are so many different character models and settings to use as a starting point. Also Ive been watching The Clone Wars on Netflix...great stuff there too.
In order we have-
A Clone Wars Jedi blademaster-----also took some inspiration from the SWTOR trailers
An Old Republic Jedi Knight with dual sabers
A Weequay Jedi Hunter with Cortosis blades and battle armor
And finally a New Republic Heavy Weapons Spectrooper
Enjoy!

Heres somthing Ive been working on for some time but havent quite gotten the way I want it to look just yet. Kaliyo Djannis, the Imperial Agent companion from SWTOR. She has so many looks so Ive tried to incorporate different elements. I have another version that uses Asajj Ventress and Mara Jade. Work in progress. Let me know what you think and any suggestions are welcome.

O0Thanks Tamer and Starchaser. Ive amassed a bunch of fodder over the holidays, and have been following every snippet of info about The Force Awakens, so the female was sort of inspired by Rey. The others are mainly army builders. Ive got tons of Jedi and Sith and want to try broadening my collection with characters from other professions. And new alien of course.

Title: Re: Bigpadawans customs
Post by: bdc41866 on July 16, 2015, 02:28:36 PM
Back in the good old days Hasbro was making chrome plated lightsaber hilts with removable blades. I used a Darth Maul hilt and replaced the red blades with Maces Windus purple one and a generic green one. If youve never read the awesome "I, Jedi" book featuring Corran Horn do yourself a favor. Its one of the Best EU books ever written. In it Corran Horn constructs a lightsaber with two different color crystals.

Love that Kel Dor sniper! What did you use for the torso armor on that figure? Almost reminds me of Commander Zod from the new Superman movie, am I correct? Giving me some great ideas for a sith Kel For figure I have planned in the making.. have so many spare Plo Koon figures it's not funny!

Keep up the awesome work!

Taking inspiration from one of my favorite cop shows of the 80's, I created this pair of Kel Dor Planetary Enforcement Detectives from Nar Shadaa. They investigate crimes dealing with the spice trade, slaving and illegal weapons trade. Their names are Kro Kett and Ricco Tubb. Corny I know but it was fun putiing these guys together.

My thanks to you Mr Hemble. Made a couple of changes one of my recent customs, The Iktotchi mercenary. I added a skirt and a gunbelt in place of the snowtrooper skirt. It was a better fit, and more in keeping with the color scheme and theme of the figure. Enjoy.

Seems to work. You can also add photos by using an online photo hosting service like photo bucket or imgur.com and then use the direct image code.

From there you just need to surround that image code with the tag [img][ /img] and it will load into the post reply. Please note I added a space to each one of those that isn't necessary in order to get em to post as bbc code is funny that way.

Do you remember the Clone Wars Cartoon where the MonCals are fighting the Quarren and Kit Fisto jumps in the water and fights alongside the Clones? I could seriously envision him in armor like this. It would have been much cooler. That or a squad of his species fighting with him. Man, wouldn't this make for an awesome new REBELS episode! Off to share.

Post by: bdc41866 on February 17, 2016, 08:44:00 PM
Tamer, I watched that 3 episode arc from Clone Wars again today with the Mon Cals and the Quarren. Epic. You may remember I was working on a project making customs of some of the Force and Destiny RPG characters. I believe this Kel Dors name is Tarast Voon. Im pretty pleased with how he turned out. Now on to the female Jedi. Anyone have an idea as to what race she might be?

Cool looking Kel Dor custom figure!
Title: Re: Bigpadawans customs
Post by: Tamer on February 18, 2016, 03:35:55 AM
I like him. Off to share.

I was actually talking about the first version of Clone Wars by Tartovsky or however you spell the name. The one that was more cartoon than anime. I can just remember Kit Fisto jumping off a Republic Cruiser into the water and swimming with Scuba Clones. Your version would have looked tougher and been more armor like we saw the other Jedi Generals.

Something Ive been wanting to do is more alien Jedi...from different eras. This is a Stennes Shifter Jedi Knight, from the Republic era. I swapped out his hands for an armored look, borrowing them from a Clone Wars Commander Cody, and then used a Naboo Starfighter pilots cloak to better match the colors. More to come

They mentioned Saw Guerrera was still leading the resistance against the Imperials. So heres my take on an Onderon resistance fighter. More to come

My thanks Tamer and Starchaser. Im hoping Hasbro will see the need for more articulated figures for the Rogue One movie, seeing as how it will be a true war film/action movie. Plenty of GI Joe styled bodies Im sure they could use. That being said, here is a kitbash Rebel engineer. Anyone know where I could find 3 3/4" scale Star Wars transfers?

Their leader, a Twilek Jedi seeker, Hepzibah Leilani Leluu, is a former slave herself, who was freed from A band of Hutt slavers by several of the other members. Looks like a good start to me. :) Maybe it's because of the mockup, my only suggestion would be to shorten the neck a bit so that the helmet rests on the shoulders.

For those of you that play SWTOR (or Star Wars Knights of The Fallen Empire), you might like this guy. My version of a Bala D'ur bounty hunter. The Bala D'ur are a Gen Dai faction (same race as Durge) of the White Maw pirates on the planet Hoth. Fairly easy head swap. This is a Husk body with a Chitauri head, and some fodder weapons...more to come.

Post by: Starchaser on June 16, 2016, 02:36:19 PM
That combination works well! Give him a riot control baton and shield (in black and gray) and you've got an urban assault specialist:) Like the idea of a gravtank. If he were a sapper, there should be other equipment for the engineering work (though the design would work well for that role, too).

Title: Bounty hunter Moxin Tark
Post by: bdc41866 on June 17, 2016, 06:56:56 PM
Ok here is a WIP of my version of Moxin Tark, a bounty hunter from the West End Games sourcebooks. He modeled his armor after the Sun Guards of Thyrsus. a mercenary army unit that became a Sith cult under the control of Darth Sidious. . They took their armor designs from the Death Watch and others.

Finished up this two man commando team. Carth and Treysinda Panteer met shortly before the start of the Rebellion. They were members of the House Guard for House Panteer on Alderaan, and served alongside other royal protectors. They fell in love and married not long after. They decided to join Princess Leia's group of Rebel freedom fighters, and were on Dantooine when Alderaan was destroyed.
