We are still in the middle of getting all of this worked out as you can see by my graphic below, but we do have the general plan and wanted to let you get started.

Hello Shipyarders, it is contest time again and boy do we have a challenge for you this time! We wanted to bring you a good one that will be ending on the Birthday of ISY (October 27th). For this event we ask you to reimagine/redesign/create your favorite or your own toy line. You may ask, what exactly does this mean? Let's start with reimagine, this would consist of figures from mixed verses. Such as Steampunk Star Wars or Gi Joe, Road Warrior Star Wars, and many other mash up style customs. Redesign involves things such as looking at a current line at stores and showing how they could have been much better. An example of creating your own line would be a Batman 3 3/4 inch scale line with GI Joe or Micro-man articulation. This is just a few examples of what you could do and we can't wait to see what ideas of your own will be rolling in. Here are the contest particulars:
We want the line to be in 3 3/4 inch scale with a minimum of 4 figures.
For those that choose to, we will allow 2 of these figures to be made prior to this contest (ones you may have posted before). This means you have to make at least 2 new figures as the minimum entry requirement for your line.
For those that choose to you can submit up to 12 figures but no more.
You can also make, repaint or improve a vehicle or beast to submit.
You will have until October 27th to complete your entry. Our birthday is a little earlier than that, but figure folks will like the extra time.
Work in progress pictures are fine here and I will be creating a separate Birthday Contest Final Entry Pictures thread once we get closer to our ending date so my celebrity judges can easily navigate your entries and when we do this you will get twelve pictures of your final entry to post. It is your responsibility to get your entry pictures in said thread when I create it (either as attachments or direct post img codes) so if you need help with that you will need to query a moderator prior to the contest ending. I know it can be a pain posting pictures, but we have great mods here than can help you. Here is the link to post your pictures too:

This one is really wide open as far as options go and feel free to ask questions if you have them. All staff, besides me, are also eligible to participate as I am assembling a panel of custom judges to help me sort these out when this one wraps up. Sweet. I may have to enter this. I actually had plans to rework an old Steampunk figure. I'm sure I can come up with 3 friends for him. Question (though its probably self explanatory). I was looking at making figures for a relatively new comic that came out. It doesn't fall into Joe, Star Wars or any current superhero universe. Will that be acceptable?

I like the contest and especially like the time frame. I want to say I'm "in" but alas I have many time constraints. I'll try to get into this one, though.

I'm looking at 1 of 5 options maybe a second if time allows, I want to do small dios for each figure but I have no idea which one to choice decisions decisions,
1: DC Superhero line with Batman, Superman, Aquaman and The Flash.
2: Star Trek TOS line with Kirk, Spock, Bones and Scotty.
3: Star Trek TOS line Villians with Klingon, Gorn, Khan and Romulan.
4: Hanna Barbera line with Birdman, Mighty Mightor, Blue Falcon and Space Ghost.
5: Thunderbirds are go with Scott, Virgil, Gordon, Alan and John Tracy.

Would love to enter a contest again, but like DarthSinister I can't say I'm in, at this point. Already got a few ideas though... Which isn't good, because now I just have to get started and add to my huge pile o'WIPs :D

Damn Spry I hope I'm not thinking of the same thing you are, I was looking thru starwarsgeeks website and came across a Joe head that is perefct for some vintage GI Joe's. That got me to thinking of all the great sets I had when I was a kid and I started to think of what sets I could start making.
I have come up with 5 sets so far and I just have to start looking for the right bodies, which leads me to a question how compatible are the movie A-Team figures and GI Joe's figures such as swapping body parts etc.

Thanks Ron! I didn't get the official vehicles either, all of those were made from vehicles I found at the thrift store. The 6 wheeler was broken in the back and I had to fill the hole with fix it, Then I repainted them. Fairly simple and straight forward but I did customize each one.

When I saw the six wheeler and chopper you have customized I went straight to my $2 dollar to see if I could get my hands on some but with no luck. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your vehicles and that teaser ;D.

Here is a WIP of my GI Joe six wheeler from Secret of the mummy's Tomb, I'm hoping to have this complete by the end of the week end. I'm also in the middle of redoing my chopper from Search for the stolen idol as I didn't like the way it was turning out.

Ron, your preview is looking great to me. It looks like you have a bit more of a build going on than I do. It is just mad, as obscure as this is at a SW site, that we are making the same characters! For those that are wondering we are creating the 12 inch GI Joe Adventure Team line in 3 3/4 inch scale. Here is an ad for just a few of these great toys from the 60's and 70's.

Since Ron shared the WIP pics I thought I would too. I bought my 6 wheeler at the thrift store last summer. The seat was cracked in half and the part that the roll cage snaps into was broken off with a hole beside and in front of it. I glued in some styrene and did a little body work with fixit sculpt until it was like new. Below are a few photos.

Spry Great work on the body mate if you hadn't mentioned it was broken I would have thought it was all good.
I also love the old AD mate great find. My fisrt intention was to try and pick up vehicles from two dollar shops etc and customize them like you have but with no luck at. So I figured that with all the 1/35, 1/72 and plasticard I have I might as well build them, I'm about %80 complete on the six wheeler and will have some more WIP up tonight on that.

Hi All,
I'm nearly done on the six wheeler just a few little bits to add. I added the hand controls also added plasticard to the front end and to the left and right edges. I have also made a winch from pieces of 1/35, 1/72 and plasticard, the line is just ship model string and teh winch actually works.
I won't be painting any of the vehicles until I have them all built which should be within two weeks.

Hi All,
Well this has been a great weekend for me no work and time to myself I got stuck in redoing the Joe chopper from Secret of the Stolen Idol, I am about %80 complete on it I just need to add some extra things and then fill in gaps and do some sanding.
As per the six wheeler I decided to make a working winch for the chopper as well and I also made it so the blades can be rotated.

Hi All,
Well the material and items I have been waiting for still haven't shown up for the larger builds so I started on my Black Widow Rendezvous figure and gear. This is %90 complete I just have to wait for the head and helmet to show up and make the map case and then I can start to paint him.
The turbo chopper is made using parts from 1/35, 1/72, Games workshop and SW parts, I have also made it so that he blades can rotate. The shoulder holster is made from pieces of pleather and the knife sheath on teh right lower leg was made using pieces of pleather and a knife holder from a ToD Chief Thugee Guard. I have attached a pic of what I have worked.

Thanks mate glad you are enjoying the WIP, I'm still waiting on parts to get here so I've decided to work on all 5 dio's at once so that when the parts do get here I won't be rushing around. The dio's I'm working will be different sizes depending on the size of equipment and the dio's are as follows.

Ok. Here's something I've been working on for months already. The first two were previously posted on my thread. They are the War Wolves Independent Military Force. The date is approximately 3470 years before the Battle of Yavin. Small conflicts and wars are abundant throughout the galaxy, making it a time to be a merc.
General Mer'aet'htorikstir, Founder and Leader of the War Wolves Independent Military Force. Raeth left the Chiss Defense Fleet due to "differences of opinion". He searched out a Republic Officer he once fought against and together they founded a small mercenary unit that eventually became the War Wolves. Kleese was a pup and only survivor of a litter found on one of Mer'aet'htorikstir's first missions as a mercenary. Kleese has been at Raeth's side ever since.
Captain Xandria Luxzian was working for her father at his restaurant when thieves came in and robbed the restaurant and it's patrons. She was about to throw a knife at one of the robbers, when his partner shot her arm. The arm was irrepariable and the robbers got away. A year later, she came across the thieves and unintentianaly killed them both. She was on the run from the law when she met the War Wolves.
Unlike most Xluhga, Mudder is a very social being and the War Wolves quartermaster. He just likes things a certain way. One of which is the ship's armory. When he first came on board, he complained about the condition of the armory and other parts of the ship. Raeth being a very tidy being to begin with, wanted an explanation. Mudder went on and on about the dust. The General allowed him his rants and the ship has never been so clean. Mudder's species sheds their skin once a month and the skin is stronger than standard leather. The War Wolves use it as part of their standard supplies.
Lt. Neellan "Wolf" M'pez was fascinated with the wolfmounts of his homeworld of Zhazaq since he was young. The fabled Guards of Haunin with their tales of great deeds would keep him up at night. But all that was shattered when after achieving the rank of First Knight, he began to see corruption in the Guard and across his home system of Crixio. In a battle against some mercenaries, Wolf decided to desert the Guard and join the mercenaries, along with him, his second-in-command, Hen'rae "Claw" Davern. Strangely enough, they saw honor among not just one but several of the mercenaries. One in particular, their leader, as he witnessed the Chiss commander rescue some innocent children from crossfire. And the War Wolves were born. Cub is the name of Wolf's mount.

Ugnaught Braxian "Ax" l'Arey had fought all his life, first on the streets of Pentris City on Gentes. When the planetary cataclysim destroyed the once lush and beautiful world, he learned to fight for survival for his family. After a couple of years, he decided to go off planet to find work for his family. He came across the War Wolves and since then has sent most of his earnings to his family.
h'Ran "Beeboo" Chivkina. Beeboo, short for Big Blue, is from a long line of warriors who has found a group that surprisingly is high in honor.
Edinis Buwai, aka Eddy is a heavy drinker, gambler, and ladies man but in the trench he's sober and cunning.
Ashlen Giblis enlisted in the Corellian Defense Force and became an expert in desert survival. After serving a few years, he wanted a change of pace and came across the War Wolves.

Captain Myles Weslin was arrested for being drunk and disorderly after he was dishonorably discharged from the Republic Military. Arrested with him were Raeth and Wren. They believed his story that although he did what he was accused of, he did it to retain his own personal honor.
Hen'rae "Claw" Davern. Claw was a Guard of Haunin with Wolf. During a well deserved rest period, Claw shared with Wolf his concerns about their commanding officer and other officers of the Guard. Having been raised from a family tradition of Guard enlistment, he had heard grumblings of family members about commanders and politicians. There was face put on to the general citizenship. Although it would put a strain on his family, he knew they would understand his reason for desertion. The opportunity arose upon the battlefield. Claw and his mount Pup joined Wolf and Cub in desertion and membership with a band of mercenaries led by a Chiss commander.
Nerish G'mar was the aide to a family that ran one of the biggest megacorporations on Coruscant. It was also a very corrupt megacorp. When mercenaries were hired to escort a company shuttle with G'mar aboard he had an intriguing conversation with a young lady representing the mercenaries. Impressed with her and other members of the mercenary unit, he offered his services to the War Wolves. Several weeks after completing the escort duty, General Raeth contacted G'mar and hired him.

Along with these, I have more War Wolves (about 20+) that I will post on my thread after the contest or if I may, during the contest. I wasn't sure if the Warmounts and Kleese count as part of the 12 but just let me know. Hope you all enjoy.

Ron - Thanks. I've been thinking and working on this concept for months, ever since I read Star Wars: Knight Errant. The idea of having giant wolves as mounts came when I was going through some old 6 inch figures - McFarlane's Wetworks. I hope you also enjoy the other ones I'll post later.

I changed my mind guys. I'm going to go with The Hobbit for the contest. Here is my Azog the Defiler on his Warg. These are just the basic figures right now. I have a lot of sculpting and painting to do. In case you are wondering, I used a new Marvel Hercules body with an Absorbing Man head. Fits on nice and snug. Gonna add a few more characters in with some minor modifications. Enjoy this little WIP pic. Just wanted to add a little about the Hercules body. It is amazing. It has a lot of articulation and just looks awesome. He comes with some straps around his body that would be perfect for a Heman custom. He would also make a great Spartan or Barbarian custom. I might have to pick up some more Hercules figures. Also wanted to say the Warg is super awesome. He also has many points of articulation and his mouth can open and shut!

I changed my mind guys. I'm going to go with The Hobbit for the contest. Here is my Azog the Defiler on his Warg. These are just the basic figures right now. I have a lot of sculpting and painting to do. In case you are wondering, I used a new Marvel Hercules body with an Absorbing Man head. Fits on nice and snug. Gonna add a few more characters in with some minor modifications. Enjoy this little WIP pic. Just wanted to add a little about the Hercules body. It is amazing. It has a lot of articulation and just looks awesome. He comes with some straps around his body that would be perfect for a Heman custom. He would also make a great Spartan or Barbarian custom. I might have to pick up some more Hercules figures. Also wanted to say the Warg is super awesome. He also has many points of articulation and his mouth can open and shut!

Man, so psyched for this contest...everyone is pulling out all the stops! I don't have any WIPs to share, because as soon as I get an idea..BAM! Completed fig. I did a twelve hour stretch last weekend, ending at 5am, lol. What I will do is namedrop my Mash-up Mandos thus far.
Including two older MuMs allowed by the contest, I have the following done:
Mileena from MK
An original Cyberninja from MK
The Hulk
Deadpool
An original Crow character
Junkion Wreck-Gar
Junkion Detrius
Which leaves three left for the contest maximum of 12. I have ideas, but I actually ran out of Mando bits and had to buy a Mission Pack (gasp!) for the Jango. I couldn't use him for custom work, but he replaced my Legacy Jango on the shelf just fine. That Jango volunteered to be the next MuM custom.

Hi All,
Here is a little update on the 6 wheeler and chopper. The 6 wheeler needs some more weathering then it's complete and the base it's sitting on is part of the Mummy's Tomb. Sorry for the little out of focus pic on this one.
The Chopper still needs a little weathering and the Adventure Team logo added, the base is just a fill in while the Stolen Idol base is getting made.

Ron, you vehicle builds are amazing! I see you are also weathering them. Man I wish my helicopter was that good. You have achieved the look of the vintage vehicle even though your parts are a bit more square. Very well done on both builds!
My time has been very limited here, sadly. I have been working on this project at night so I will have a update as soon as I make time to snap some photos. I did get in 2 casting sessions rather than getting enough sleep 2 nights in a row. Now I have almost all the parts needed to complete the different sets I am building up. Soon I offer some of these pieces I have extras of.

Thanks Hepas Spry and yeah you know me mate I have to give everything the old weather treatment ;D. I was a bit hesitant at first with the chopper but as you mentioned even thou it has the square angles to it I think the subtle curved angles brings it all together.
And I can't wait to see all your pieces I have no doubt thta they will be stunning.

I'm back! OK I took a few pics so you guys can see what I have been up to. Ron and I picked the same theme, Adventure Team GI Joe series at 1:18 scale. I knew Ron would create a museum quality tribute to our favorite 12 inch figures, heck we picked the exact same ones too! So I went the route of looking at this as my chance to produce my own line, actual product I would want to see on shelves if I worked for Hasbro. My idea is to give the consumer a nicely articulated action figure with a decent amount of accessories then offer small diorama/play sets, vehicles, beasts and accessory packs as well. Here is a small glimpse of the work I have been doing.
I didn't have much time for WIP pics but here is the scratch built flatbed crane attachment for the back of the 6 wheeler.

Just a judging update folks. We are getting things finalized and I appreciate your patience on this as we tabulate our judges votes and get ready to announce the winner.
As for the prizes please note:
1. First place winner will get first choice of the prizes and then we will work down our list until we have no prizes left!
2. Shipping will be included for US Residents and I will try to help out on international shipping a bit, but please understand that you could be responsible for shipping costs if we need to ship outside the US. I hate to do that, but will discuss those shipping options with said winners when the need arises.
The quality of the entries this year was just outstanding and I appreciate the time our entrants took to put together such quality work that is really giving some of our judges some interesting times figuring this out.
