Title: GI-Joe Retaliation wave 3 Lady Jaye Review
Post by: Clonehead on February 12, 2013, 12:10:32 AM
First off, I would like to thank theSpectre for pointing out where I could find these so early in the game. That's right, Target coporate, My joe dollar went to K-Mart tonight as they are putting em out while my Target stores at Blue Springs, Belton, and Lee's Summit are refusing to until the wave 1 figures set at clearance clear out, dpci in hand or not. clonehead@imperialshipyards.net is where you can reach me if you care to apologize.

OK, Target rant out of the way, on to the figure

Now I was excited after all of the toy fair images to get my hands onto these 3rd wave figures and while i was able to snag all of em, Lady Jaye here is the first one to warrant a review.

First off, lets talk about her pack-ins, holy crap, look at all of these pack-ins. These alone are worth the $9.99 price point. It seems too expensive to add in a bad part to the new star wars line but look at the crazy stuff happening here! I think that the pack-ins of two or three of these figures could be well considered an arsenal. I could barely get em all to fit in my hand for that one shot

you got:
a cool strapped backpack
2 sub machine guns
2 automatic rifles with more detailed paint apps
3 knifes
the crazy spear gun
a bazooka
a bazooka round carrying backpack with 4 removable rounds "i believe these were steel brigade items"

Man, i have been collecting and butchering figures for years and I'm not sure that my weapon fodder bin has better stuff than this

Now for the figure
Her body is a repaint of the renegades scarlett figure with a different head. I always thought that sculpt looked a bit hippy and seems even more so with this deco but, hey, not every joe can have a killer body and it almost seems more realistic this way.

Articulation
ball jointed head, shoulders, elbows, torso, hips, with the always nice double jointed knees and those crazy  rocker jointed ankles. Her wrists only have the single joint but other figures from this wave have the clone wars wave 1 style double jointed ones. All in all, good articulation.

What the heck bad could I say about this figure? She could look ugly as hell or have crap articulation and those pack-ins would still be worth it. Good articulation, great pack-ins, Sold! Thanks Hasbro, and , thank you K-Mart, for making my night, the night before my birthday. "oops, it's past midnight, damn, I just got a year older"

I agree with you about this being worth it for the price of the pack ins alone and Hasbro can deliver more than 5 poa on most SW figures or afford a bad piece? For shame Hasbro, for shame.

Happy Birthday!!. I noticed her body is a reused Renegades Scarlett, which is a skinny fem model. Nice review as always  though

This is one of my favorite Retaliation figures already.
I have one and will try to get at least two more.
The articulation on this figure is awesome, I also like the headsculpt which is pretty close to Adrianne Palicki's likeness if you compare the figure's head with some screenshots of the actress.
Also the figure offers a lot of customizing potential, not just because of the assortment of accessories Lady Jaye comes with.
I've got three minor gripes with this figure, though:

the arms are a touch too skinny for my taste
the missing thigh pockets on her legs
the missing webbing

Nothing that couldn't be fixed, of course, but that's about it.
All in all, a cool figure.

Saw this wave in my local Wal-Mart today and I like em' all. Love the Bruce Willis likeness. Gonna get one just for the head sculpt. Had to pass on them though because they must have found a case of Star Wars VCs kicked behind a rack in the back. I scored a Gammorean, Nom Anor, ARC commander and Evazan.

Oh and happy birthday Clint. To bad one of the pack-ins wasn't a walking cane.  ;D kidding

I'll prolly get her for the arsenal, for sure!  I'm not real impressed with this body sculpt, but hey - every body is different.  (see what I did there??)

I haven't seen the new Joes yet, but oh LORDY I did find a couple of WalMarts that had restocked TVC figs!!

Reckon so, same one you found - Bespin Han, Fordo, GGuard, etc etc.  My wallet squealed.  My wife rolled her eyes...

I don't like the fact that they reused Scarlett's body, although it has great articulation. However I really like that head sculpt. I wonder if the ball cap from the Rebel Fleet Trooper would fit her head?

Found her today, the only figure I found that wasn't a carry over from wave 1 (Like butterfly snake eyes).  Cool as heck but not as impressed by the head sculpt as some.  To me she kind of looks like Jinx more than the actress playing Lady Jaye.  At least they dumped those pack ins, whew.  I can deal with recycled guns for the lack of lame launchers and such.

I also found this one. Of course I keep comparing the actors and actresses to their comic counterparts. So, the long hair is just not speaking "Lady Jaye" to me. I think it's a good head sculpt though. With a little hot glue you can put the 25th LJ head on this body. Oh and the RFT hat does fit, but it fits better if the back is cut to make room the pony tail.

I have to say that the hair doesn't bother me, It's probably just getting used to the actress and accepting she is playing Lady Jaye for ever since she was announced as the part.
