Title: GI-Joe Retaliation wave 2 Flint Review
Post by: Clonehead on January 14, 2013, 11:18:43 PM
Got this one in the mail today.

Part of Wave 2, this is one of the more desired releases.
Flint comes with a sub machine gun, an assault rifle, a removable berret, a removable vest which was last seen on the TAC Sgt Stalker figure, and this crazy zip line contraption.
Colors are sharp as is the sculpt. I guess, as is no surprise, that no figure stand is included.

Articulation:
Ball jointed head
double jointed shoulders
double jointed elbows
single swivel jointed wrists
pivot ball jointed waist, just below the chest
pin ball jointed hips
single,"i repeat" single jointed knees. no swivel, no extra joint, single straight and boring
no ankle articulation what so ever

Guys, he does look cool and the weapons are pretty nice looking but seriously, I am missing the better articulation in the knee and ankle area from the TAC lines and before.
I was also missing the figure stand and some of the other multiple pack-ins from the past like, say, a backpack.

The zip line device has a launcher built in which is supposed to launch the big hook which travels on a 5 ft piece of string that has a plastic snap hook on either end. The launcher shot the big hook like about 5 inches. The zip line carrier has a couple of hand holds for the figure to hold onto as well as a back hole peg to mount onto your figures. There are a couple of  channels mounted to the back of it that are to contain the string for rappelling action.

Now this wonky zip-line thing is supposed to represent something that he uses in the movie so I guess that is ok but if you look at it, imagine how much this thing would cost to produce vs better articulation or, a figure stand and a backpack or, dare I open this can of worms, a Build a Droid part, were this a figure from a different line with a similar price point.

He will look good next to the rest of my joes although I may have to have him sitting without a figure stand included.

Clint thats the first review I have seen anywhere on this figure. You sure do have your nose to the grindstone finding new goods.

I totally agree with you on that zip line deal. Fancy packs in that don't work doesn't equal good business sense to me. Of course, I haven't seen Hasbro exhibit that in a good while.  ;D

I will get a button made for this soon. Off to the front page.

Great looking figure and I love that he finally gets a removable hat. Man, what a let down though, GI Joe is now cutting back on articulation!?! Man what is this world coming to!?! This gives ma a sad outlook on the rest of wave 2.

I'd better stock up on ROC, 25th and 30th Ann. Joes and Cobras then. I've been using those as customizing fodder quite a lot recently, mainly because of the articulation. The Renegades Scarlett has awesome ankles, why doesn't Hasbro continue down that path? Double jointed knees are too awesome to be omitted and frankly, I'd love to see double jointed elbows as well.

Its true LE but two things I want to say that will give you hope. The legs are reused from the Ret wave 1 Duke so this is not new parts we are seeing with less articulation (and hopefully we won't see these again). The rest of the line past this wave is supposed to be fully articulated (crosses fingers).

On another note, I hope to get multiples of this figure and i have a feeling he will be peg warming due to his lack of arty. I think th accessories he has a more than worthy of multiples particulary the beret which is a good candidate for casting as well.

I will cross my fingers as well, chad.
Read a review of the wave 2 firefly fig over at Hisstank.com today that described that figure as having the same articulation.

I like the head, beret, and weapons, but this figure is kinda crappy because of the legs. He is worth getting for customizing reasons.

I keep going back and forth on this one.  I really want that one in the case at the Joe Con, but at the same time this is pretty cool.

I've already informed the wife that 2013 may be 1983 all over again where I take a break from Star Wars collecting and focus on Joes. Sure am kicking myself for not getting those 25th anniv figures. I really like this head sculpt better than the 25th Flint. I like that it is molded in flesh tone rather than painted. What is the release date of these figures?

about a week ago is when they started to show up in stores officially, Jason. Are you in the states? try walmart, kmart, or walgreens. I havent seen the single carded new waves in a target yet although they have been the only ones with the three packs.

Found them today at my Wal-Mart. I may have to take back what I said about Flint's head sculpt. The skin tone is kind of dark, and I think I prefer the 25th version better. At least Flint didn't have the dumb ninja insignia on his uniform like in the picture on the packet. I picked up Flint, Lady Jaye, and Road Block. I'll wait getting a Joe Colton till I find one whose eyes  don't look like he's being goosed!

For some reason when I look at the Roadblock action figure, I can believe more that the Rock could play Gung-Ho, but not really Roadblock. I mean slap a Marine cap on the action figure and it's Gung-Ho! I always liked Gung-Ho, but felt the cartoon dumbed him down.

I don't think the Rock is Cajun enough for Gung-Ho LOL.

I'm alright with him as Roadblock cause he kind of fits in an odd way.  Not exact but it works (much better than Chaning Tatum as Duke).
