Hello all,
New to the yards. I've been a member on Rebelscum for a year or two now.

I'm having some trouble posting pictures up here. The layout is different than Rebelscum's, and if someone could help me out, that would be great.
Hey I just found out that I created a Flickr account awhile back. So for those who haven't seen my pictures, here they are.
These are all my current WIP.
These Commando squads will be changed later to match the CW screen accurate version of the RCs in the CW animated series. These were just my take on the troops before the Delta Squad appeared. A lot of which was inspired by wraithnine and many others on the yards that created some CW Commandos.

Commander Faie and troops WIP
If someone could give me ideas as to what color they should be, that would be great. The color seems off. I know Faie has the brown design armor, scout trooper armor, and wookiepedia says he also wore a327th garb. Kind of going for the 327th garb with engineer armor.

If someone could give me some ideas on Model Masters Acryl paints that are good for a 501st blue or other shades of blue like Jesse has the lighter blue. That would be great.

Nice looking clones, buddy!
one way to post pics is to use the additional options control on the lower left as you are posting. This only works if the pics are small enough.
Another way is to host em on a photo hosting website like Flicker and use the image insertion tab that looks like a framed photo when you are posting and insert the code.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the response. I went on the FAQ section and saw the posting pictures area earlier. I'll try to work it out and create a flickr or photobucket. Although I remember Flickr has a photo upload quota if I remembered correctly.
As for now I'll show customs on my rebelscum account until I get the pictures worked out.

It's kine of long and there are many other WIP projects that I have going on.
I hope you like them and please give me some feedback as to what I can do better on.
Just wanted to let you guys know that the yards is much more supportive of customizers than rebelscum is. I've gotten more responses to my customs in a couple of days here than I have had at rebelscum for a couple of months. It means a lot to me and I'm really happy that Imperialshipyards is up and running. I'm glad to be a member of it. :)

Were glad to have you! I really love the delta squad your working on! What do you sculpt with? Are you going to add fixer's ammo and and antenna? Really like all of your CW clones especially bacara and his men! Cannot wait to see these finished!

Hey Mando Assassin, I will try and add the antenna and the ammo pouches on Fixer. I'm currently sculpting with Aves Apoxie Sculpt and the helmets are casted using from a two part epoxy called quik cure 5 min made by bob smith industries. It can be found at hobby stores. I'm running low on Aves Apoxie Sculpt, so I recently bought another product called Magic Sculpt. The product looks very similar to Aves Apoxie Sculpt, so I will be trying it out soon and see how it compares. (It is cheaper 1 lb. was worth 21.95 and the Aves was 1/4 1b. for $13.95.) Hope the Magic Sculpt is pretty good.

Never heard of it! Hopefully it will be good. Have you ever tried Fixit? Ive heard of it but never tryed it cause it's so expensive. I currently use Sculpey three. But you have two bake it. When i run out i'm either using fixit or Aves. ;D

You don't have to use the insert image thing. All you have to do is go to your Flickr picture.Above the picture there is something that say's share. Make sure it's the BBC code . Copy the code and paste it in your comment!Hope that help's man. If you need a better tutorial Go to my custom's thread, on the first page ActionFigEmpire has a really good description of how to do it. ;D

hey no prob man trying to help a fellow yarder! it is above your picture on flickr. No it is not the URL. once you click on share it has the option for a BBC code or a HTML code. then you press on BBC. Once you do that there should be a box With a hole bunch of mumble jumble. Now you copy that mumble jumble onto your post.

It worked, thanks. The insert image thing didn't work at all. I followed it exactly as the FAQ says and it didn't work at all. Thanks for the help. I'll post the pictures up later. It takes a long time to get each one up.

WOW! Humoungus update! Are you going to make a regular RC CW style? I love everything! I am not just saying this to make you feel good.............................YOUR PAINTJOB'S ARE GETTING REALLY GOOD! You have true potential! Those ARC troopers look great! If you want your guy's to stay being great than just just remember to not rush take your time also don't settle for less than what you expected it to be and what i have been working on is not glopping paint. If you remember those ROPES then you'll be the best customizer out there! Keep up the great work and may the force be with you on your journey to be a good customizer! ;D ;D ;D :D :)

Hey Mando Assassin.
What do you mean by a regular RC CW style? Like a white version? Cause my cast is used from the CW 13 Boss figure but might not look like it?
As for the Camo figures, they will be Commander Faie's troops. I have better pictures but I can't post them yet because my flickr monthly quoto is up. Most of the ARCs will definitely be repainted as I am going to add more armor on their arms and legs.
I posted the figures in Rebelscum awhile back but I'll try to find it for you.

I used to have a better picture of the two but I can't find it. I'll definitely be taking better pictures and post them up next month along with Faie. I'm going to make some very minor changes to the two.
Also, Thanks Darth Optimus for my helmet mods. I went to your trade thread and I think wraithnine will most likely pick up your cw clones. Maybe in the future. Although I am planning on doing a commissions thread for me where people can pay me either in cash or figures, but that is still a long way from now. I still have to catch up on all my projects and make them more presentable before making figures for other people.

Hey MandoAssassin,
I will definitely make a plain CW style RC squad in the future. I running out of base figures so. It will definitely be on my to do list in the future. I realized that the antenna on my Fixer was placed on the wrong side of his helmet, so I will give that helmet to another RC and be fixing hat up later today. Boss, Sev, and Scorch are pretty much done. I finished weathering those three today and they just have a few small paint touchups. As for Fixer, I will try to make his helmet correct this time and start painting him tomorrow.

Spectre Ship WIP
I'm starting to take a new approach with my Star Wars customs. Not trying to make all the clones from the tv and movie clones into the animated version.
This ship will be one of the ships that will accompany with my current WIP Custom Clone marines company.
The back opens up like a ramp. It is currently made of cardboard and tape and will eventually be shaped/covered with some material that will make the vehicle hardened and more durable.

Thanks Tamer. Means a lot. My interest in my own customizing abilities has really gone down this past year. Not pleased with my own work, so often try to destroy my previous work and try to start fixing it again.
Also been in college so, don't have that much time anymore. Heading back soon, so probably not going be on that much again.
As for Bo-Katan, I'll post some more pictures sometime this week (her sculpt for the most part is done) Not sure if I like her back armor (might redo it) but won't be able to finish her because don't have the right color paint, and just trying to save up on money. Might finish her later, or who knows.

Wow, I did that sculpt work on the legs. It looks really good. Not so sure about that chest though, maybe I am just partial to Mandalorian or stock Imperial stuff. I wonder if some type of breather on it might be cool?
I could see a Shae Vizla helmet mod looking good on this one too.
I also like how you have built up the feet, legs, shoulders, and arms. Looks a lot better. This one will also get a ton better once the overall paint work gets applied.

Great looking clones and I really like Obi-Wan! Sculpting is tough to get right the first several times. I started with really small things and built my way up to full armor. You just need more practice and always have reference shots around you to look at while sculpting. A lot of work goes into refining after the sculpt has cured to get fine details and I also do a lot of sanding. Just take your time and think about layering your work work rather than doing everything in one shot.

To me the key with the sculpting is to not get discouraged. When I first started customizing I was about 11 or 12 (I'm 29 now) and was inspired by some wicked awesome work I had stumbled across and wanted to do it myself especially a couple that were sculpt heavy but mine turned out just awful and I got real discouraged after a few more attempts that ended with similar results and pretty much stuck with painting and part swapping but because of that initial disappointment I never really got huge into customizing and it was really just a here and there kinda thing while the customs that I did attempt were real simple and easy. It wasn't until about 6 or so years ago that I started to kick it up a notch by incorporating tools like dremmels while at the same time attempting to do more complex things. As my confidence grew so did my love of this hobby and I began to take it even further and started to also sculpt little details, like Sprywalker suggested, to get a feel for it and while I wasn't always happy with the results it was always a good learning experience on what not to do next time or maybe what to try next time. If you go to my thread you'll see in the most recent posts that I have begun to try my hand at sculpting from scratch and again while I'm not 100% happy some of them I'm learning as I go and if I stick with it I'll just keep getting better and better and happier with the finished product.
Also on top of getting discouraged I also think it's just as important to not compare yourself or try to measure up to anyone else and instead just focus on where your abilities are at in the now. For example I'm pretty happy with some of the sculpts I've done but if I were to compare my work against the work of someone like Stronox or any of the other customizers who do excellent sculpts I would never be satisfied with my own. A lot of these guys that do sculpt have been doing this a lot longer and some may even have some type of background in sculpting but at some point they were exactly where you or I am so instead of trying to sculpt something at their level I focus on my own stuff while striving for that level of craftsmanship present in their work knowing that as long as I don't get discouraged I'll get there eventually.
So best of luck on the sculpting but for some first time attempts it looks really great!

Hey, I was just browsing through your thread of custom figures here. You have some really cool looking helmet designs for your custom troopers going on here! Some of them I wish they had used in The Clone Wars show. Don't beat yourself up over your sculpting ability. Just stay at it. Sculpt when you feel like doing it not when you feel like you have too and look at your symmetry on your left and right sides when you sculpt an object. Also, not sure if you have them or not but proper sculpting tools and a self standing magnifying glass help out tremendously. When I started sculpting I hated my sculpts but I kept at it and improved over time. Good job on what you have made so far and good luck in your future creations!

As I figured out a lot of my old customs look so awful because I tried painting so many times on a figure with limited paints (and over time it just got gloppy).
Btw does anyone know of a good way to remove gloppy model acrylic paint on a figure to start over.
(sanding helps a little but doesn't always work well and takes forever).
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Butterfingers I just re-found a box of a lot of dental tools I had in storage which is what I and a lot of others use to sculpt and since I already have my own set of preferred sculpting instruments if you would like me to send you some of these re-found ones let me know. Keep in mind these tools (as well as the ones that I use) are no longer usable in a dental setting but they still work great for sculpting and like I said I already have my own "set" so if you want I'll go through what I found and then send you what I think may work for you; Also while it's slow going like with the sand paper some of these tools work really well to remove paint from crevices and also work well to make lines (aka clone trooper armor) more defined. And I get it about college and the budgeting; We were all there in some way or another once so don't worry about buying these tools...I got them for free and I'll give them for free if you want them.

Hey all,
Haven't really had the time to be on the yards that much but I'm on winter break right now and started tinkering with some of my figures again. Had a clone figure who has a broken arm so trying to use the rest of the figure for parts.
I was wondering if any of you have any experience using the boil and pop method to remove the entire legs from the hip socket. I tried earlier and couldn't get both of them out. The joints are really loose now but still want to get them out and attach it to another figure that I screwed awhile back.
Any help is appreciated

Haven't really had time to look at Star Wars stuff do to school stuff, but I had some time over spring break and decided to try and redo my CW Commander Stone custom.
Wish I didn't screw up so many times when I first tried to do the custom like 3 years ago, but I tried to sand and clean up as much as I could. Any tips or suggestions on what I can do to try and clean up the figure so more would be greatly appreciated.

I used the Space Obi Wan Kenobi figure for the base and then used a Quinlan Vos head after removing the hair. The Helmet was made from a cast of Pre Vizsla's helmet that I made a really long time ago that didn't turn out so great.

It's been a really long time since I've posted anything on my thread. I've been working on couple customs during that time, but just didn't have the time to post with school and work.
I'm on summer break for a few weeks before I have to head back to return to my studies. Since I've got more time, I decided to update you all with some of my projects. There are a bunch of photos so hope you all don't get overwhelmed.
To start it off, here is an unfinished TCW Style RC Gregor. (Over the past two or three years, I've been trying to sculpt a TCW RC figure on a normal TCW clone trooper. This is the first time that I liked the sculpt that I came up with and painted it up.
The helmet was casted from shipyard member CloneHead (excellent casts). There are some minor differences with the actual TCW concept mainly with the knee, leg, and bicep area armor. Still need to come up with a way to create the backpack and paint his hair brown.

Paintwork could have been better (but considering that most of the figures that I use are failed custom painted figures of mine from the past) I think I'm cleaned them up pretty well.

The CW Obi-Wan Mando was painted using a Pre Vizsla and painted it on wand did some light weathering/smearing to get the chest armor the right effect

Redid my CW Commander Wolffe (grey version) His helmet was hard to paint and the lines on the shoulder pad were tedious, but it came it alright. Not sure if the grey I used was the best but I'm happy with it.
