Title: Tonphanan's customs
Post by: tonphanan on April 10, 2012, 07:35:19 PM
Hi all. Long time customizer. Wanted to start showing some of my stuff off here. Here is just a little of my work.

Darkside Obi-wan Kenobi

Obi-wan collapes to the ground of his hut. Gasping for air. He could not beleive the horride site. Everyday Obi-wan would stop by the Lar's mouisture farm and check in on young Luke Skywalker. But this day he was too late. The imperial Stormtroopers were leaving the burnt out home just as Obi-wan arrived. Kenobi stared off in shock as he counted three burnt bodies on the ground. His shock was quickly broken when he felt the presence of his old Padawan. Kenobi took off running.

Obi-wan pulled himself of the floor when he heard a mechanical voice "Ben"!, "Ben"! Vaders voice echoed through the hut. Obi-wan stepped outside. "How may I be of service?" Ben said calmly.

"You have failed for the last time, my OLD master." Vader reaches into the back of a speeder and drops the body of Luke Skywalker at Obi-wan's feet. "You killed me many years ago. Now I have killed my son in order to defeat you." Vader turns and walks back towards the speeder.

The snap-hiss of Obi-wan's saber fills the air. "If it is a fight to the death you are looking for Vader, I am ready." Vader does not turn. "There is no need to fight you, as I have already killed you." Vader gets into his speeder and returns to his ship.

Obi-wan was forever torturted by the lose of Luke. And blamed himself after Yavin was destroyed by the Deathstar. While his anger and self pity did not turn him completely to the Darkside of the force he did allow it to take over just enough to kill the man he use to be.

Hey T don't know too much about this guy except he looks way cool. I did have a peek at the wookieepedia entry you referenced here and had to stop reading it so as i don't go spoiling the book for myself. On the FP!

He looks like something H.R. Giger might have put together.  I seem to remember seeing another character with a gun for a head, but I don't think it was in Star Wars.  Now I'm wracking my brain to try to remember where I saw it!
Title: Re: Tonphanan's customs
Post by: tonphanan on April 16, 2012, 02:26:13 PM
Thanks guys. I put the link up for the book instead of the character because 1.) It's a good read and 2.) the picture of D'harhan was recently added and I had already started working on him before that plus the picture has too much Grevious likeness to it while the book gives just the basic body description :Canon head, Tail for a tripod and black armor. The canon still works even with all the cutting and glue I had to do and it does raise a little with the hinges on the side.

Went a different direction with Clayface than what I planned. Originally he was going to be in a containment suit. That didn't work out so I went with a more traditional concept.

W.I.P.

Working on a "My Verse" of Star Wars. My Anakin wasn't a crybaby wussy. He gets beat by Obi-wan, but doesn't let a little lava keep him down. He works through the pain and with the help of the Emperor's droids builds a temporary suit because he has more Jedi ass kicking to dish out.

Padme' gives birth to the twins and it's back to buisness. She dawns a jedi tunic and some armor because she has to stop her husband from destroying the galaxy she just brought life into.

The last Batman pic gives the best darkness-vibe.  Very cool.  And I'm diggin the "My Verse" stuff.  I have one where, if you're familiar with the Republic Commando novels, there's more of a happy ending.   Perhaps that's something we could all display on a thread.  We all show samples of our "My Verse" customs.  Hmmm.

Thanks. It's a MU Ghost Rider. Had to cut the flames off as they do not boil off. A little sanding and remolding of the back of the head was needed to finish the skull.

Mad Hatter is one of favorites for a couple reasons. The torso came from a Spy Kids figure. The hat was Wild Bill. Arms-TAC Jawa and legs were Legacy Ugnaughts. The fact that I was able to combine all these different lines from different years from different companies into one figure makes it a really good figure in my opinion. The head came from 21st Century Soilders

The Nomad Trooper was pretty basic, but I'm glad everyone seems to like it. Might have to expand on the idea :-\

Marvel Universe Ghost Rider. I had to shave off the flames as they would not boil off. Then just some minor filler work on the back of the head to cover the peg for the flame and smooth the whole head out.

Making your way in the galxy today takes every thing you got,
Taking a break from bounty hunting just hope you don't get shot,
Wouldn't you like to get away?

All those nights when you got in fights,
and hot Twi'leks to nail,
Your always working for Jabba,
Salicious hanging by his tail,
and your face you'll never show.......

sometimes you want to go...

On a side note the "wear" on the armor for the Ninja master was intentional. I figured someone as old as him would not have clean armor.

I figured as much. Very well put together figure. Wondered if you had thought about giving his head the same color as the arms and legs (Wookie brown?). Might be too much brown though.

Thanks. I'm almost done with Jedi Jawa. Making a hilt that any Jawa would love. Will also add a bandolier, nothing special, just an accessory.

Try to smooth out Gormo some more before I start painting.

Wedge with Lt. Kettch.

Work in progress. Needs some obvious paint touch ups but otherwise it is put together.

Kettch's torso and head are a hollow cast and stuffed with cotton.

The casting liquid I used had gone bad and cured soft which worked out well for this piece. With the cotton in the torso it makes it like a plush figure.

WIP 6 inch G.I. Joe Blowtorch

Parts:
Base body - Walking Dead Gas mask Zombie
Helmet -Cast of Riot Gear Zombie
O-rings for armor accents to match original Blowtorch
Kit bash flame thrower
Still working on fuel tank back pack

Will post update once first coat of paint is applied. Going with the color scheme of the ARAH Blowtorch. Will be boiling the hands to better form a grip on the flame thrower.

For the head I dremeled off the zombie zombie face to make the gas mask face fit more flush to the head.

I like it! Interesting idea for a custom figure scaling a Joe up. Also interesting but logical idea for the base figure. Did you swap out a head? Or are you leaving the zombie head on and making the helmet mask non removable? I cant wait to see how you paint this guy.
Title: Re: Tonphanan's customs
Post by: tonphanan on April 15, 2014, 03:42:08 PM
Thanks all.

I'm leaving the Zombie head in tact. The head and helmet will all be one piece. I wanted it to be removable but did have a head to put in it's spot. I removed the original visor as it became discolored when I tried to remove the blood splatter. I used Testors window maker to fill in a new visor and also used the window maker to fill in the gaps between the O rings and the base body.
I have spray painted him all yellow and the paint just didn't take like I had hoped so I will be repainting by hand. Think I'm going to section him off and complete the lower half first, then the upper then the flame thrower.

Here is where I stand so far on Blowtorch. Painting is basically done on the done. Debating on a coating of wash though. Going to get started on the pack and torch. Going to try to fix the front of the helmet if possible.

Thanks, I got the helmet from Tri gate creations years ago in a fodder junk bag. I had to fix it up as he had a hole in the top and needed lots of dremeling to clean it up.

The Hades figure is really interesting. What did you use for the cloth? Great job on Big Hero Six too.

Thanks. It's cheesecloth and liquid starch. The torso is being supported by the stiff cloth, no rods or wires.

That is an impressive diorama.
What parts did you use for the rebel trooper?

The torso and head is from an Elite Forced figure. The arms are from a German soilder from the 21st Century toy line and come in that pose.  Legs are a POTJ Rebel Fleet Trooper.

Thanks Tamer. I shared the WIP as I went, with the artist Chris Raimo. He really liked it and shared it on his FB and Instagram pages. For me that meant a lot to see his fans like and comment on my work.
