Title: C130IM's Vehicles - 1:18 Militia Guntruck (Occupied US, GA Unit)WIP, 12 Apr 15
Post by: C130IM on October 02, 2011, 09:26:19 PM
One of my earlier customs done couple years ago. It's essentially done just needs some detail painting.

It's not based a real vehicle but thought it fit in with Russian or Chinese military. Basically used a chap-mei 6 wheeled APC, styrene, clear plastic for windows and hinges for the front rear hatch.

Cut out the rear section (had the police lights on it) and converted it to carry a support unit (4 figs). The rear section was reconstructed from styrene. Using pieces of original vehicle to add deal on back section. Created a hatch door for the open section of the cab and covered the round opening where the chap-mei figure would fit. Air-brushed it and just need to paint the accessories that are molded to the hull of the vehicle.

The hatches warped a little from sitting in the garage in the summer.

Was hesitant to post pics of this scratchbuild on any board. Mainly because even after starting in March 2009, I am still far from completion.  Apologize for poor picture quality. Used camera phone for the pics and had no flash. I'll take updated photos as progress is made with my regular camera. It gives an idea of where I'm trying to go with this vehicle.

It's one my largest ground based combat vehicles. Each step has been time stamped photographed down to each piece with dimensions. To date over 800 pics taken and still far from completion. Objective is to have the invader most lethal vehicle completed by May 2012. Weighs 35lbs without electronics and power supplies. I am considering casting and running limited production once completed.

Will have the most sfx of all my models. Standard lighting for each level, sound, removable engine/reactor core illumination, illuminated display screens, laser effects for dioramas, and smoke generator to simulate reactor venting or other effects. Multiple weapons that rotate and elevate. Cannons, rocket artillery, and hidden weapon systems. Opening doors, hatches, and access panels.

Will be adding more pics as project progresses. Interior, electronics, side panels and other hatches need to be installed. Then of course the paint job.

So may look, ehhh, right now but she's got a long way to go. Hope everyone likes the initial work. As always, suggestions and comments are appreciated.

1/18 Quad 50 Resistance Guntruck "Angel of Death" finally done!! The camera flash brought out little too much shine to the steel paint but it still came out okay. I have other close ups of the damaged sections of the truck and can post if want to see them.

In my verse, these trucks (variants of) are used by bands of resistance and regular US military forces in the occupied southern US territories. Heavily armored and armed with .50 quad, upper/side mounted .50 cal machine gun, grenade launcher, and other small arms. Battle with the invaders proved that the .50 caliber rounds were more capable of inflicting damage on enemy vehicles and penetrated infantry armor more effectively than the standard .223 or 7.62x.39 round. Trucks were wired with high tech optics and computers to aid in targeting enemy units. Each round had to count!

Done for this variant. Any suggestions or input for improvement I'm open for critiques.

Early stage work in progress. More work has been done since these pictures were taken.

Based on same verse as the completed Guntruck. The "Rabid Bear" was reverse engineered by engineers working with militia and military units in R&D facilities scattered throughout occupied Southeastern US. Preferably, US forces would smuggle captured alien technology to safe zones located in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia.

This particular mech fell into new class of weapon system: Bipedal Guard - Inantry Support and Assault Mecha (BGISAM). Some came up with new names for acronym (BIG-SAM, SAMI, etc.). "Rabid Bear" was first deployed bipedal human variant mech.

It was used to support ground units in offensive/defensive operations. Launch assaults on alien positions using it's side mounted and rocket artillery from safe distance. Engage alien units in direct skirmishes when called on. It would also conduct recon operations.

Armaments:  2x side mounted cannons (fires anti-armor and frag rounds, 24 rounds each);;; 2x side mounted miniguns;;; 2x rear mounted 40 round rocket launch artillery  (each launcher pre-loaded w 40 rounds and 40 rounds in cartridge below the launch tubes);;; 1x twin 30mm chain gun below the cabin.

Comments, suggestions are appreciated:

Well when you alluded to your scratch builds in the "hello" thread I have been waiting for this post. Man this is some awesome work! The military vehicles are bad ass man! That 4 track takes the cake though. What an ambitious project! My mind is blown by all the work and detail that has gone into that total scratch build! Some clearer pictures would be great but it is tough to photograph all that white styrene. Do the tracks move? I wouldn't expect them to but with all the over the top enginering on that thing I would not be surprised if you made it happen. I really can't wait to see you finish that build and put some paint on that beauty! Now on to the walker..FAN-FRIKIN'-TASTIC! She is a realy beauty of a design. Looks like the top part of a tank used and it meshes really well with the other parts. Really nice work displayed here and I can't wait to see more! Bravo!

These have all the things I love about customs: big in size, big in ambition, big in features, big in heart... nice work there and can't wait to see more.  I love the military but DAG is that scratch build tank a behemoth!

Sometimes when people do big tank-like SW customs, they aren't very "Star Wars-y" - but yours fits right in.

It is really great, and I can't wait to see it progress!

Thanks everyone for comments!! I enjoy doing this work. The TOVREX-S large tank is definitely a labor of love and patience. I took short break to get these other ideas out my head to recharge the model building batteries. 2 1/2 years of work on this required patience. Plus there are techniques that I intend to use based on lessons learned from the customs.

All the parts on my customs and scratchbuilds do move; the tracks do move :)  just looking forward to completing this model to begin detailing work.

It's a great hobby! I just need to brush up on photography and painting.

Thanks guys for the coments!! I will keep everyone up to date on the projects.

I did some additional work on the Rabid Bear mech. should have updated pics soon.

I have new supplies specific for the TOVREX-S tank. With the positive feedback especially for this model will focus on completing the structural build. Need to get another 12 volt battery since the other I received weighs 5 lbs and is way too big.

CloneSniper78; you are absolutely correct this is literally a rolling killing machine! Designed specifically for ruthless and unstoppable destruction. Nothing on Earth can really destroy it. M1 Abrams US and Leopard A6's in Germany have succeeded in disabling them. But, long enough for forces to retreat.

It employs hover technology in the undercarriage. Allows it to traverse any terrain or fall back should the track system become disabled. When active its primary heavy weapons go offline due to power needed to lift and propel a vehicle this bulky.

Believe it or not, I have a larger variant in concept design. In my verse, the version pictured here was the first deployment of TOVREX class ground destroyers. The larger one in concept design is deployed on worlds with more advanced weapons/military than what they fight against on Earth.

As a sign of how far behind I have fallen, I am JUST NOW finding this thread.  HOLY GUACAMOLE!!!  That is some INCREDIBLE work!!  Where'd you get the 6-wheeled armored car in the first pics?  It is based fairly closely off the French VAB armored cars, definitely an unusual subject to find as an action-figure sized toy!

That tank... my oh my!  Lots of Terminator-esque ground hunter-killer styled goodness, but oh so nicely UPGUNNED!!

Thanks! The 6 wheel armor car was a chap mei vehicle. It had a police light bar on back at one point. I modified the  vehicle by cutting the bar and other junk off the back. Then used sheet plastic to rebuild the rear section and created hatch for troop access. Made a hatch to cover the cab opening. Put windows in.

The tank was original concept. Could not avoid seeing the hunter killer tank coming out after building the bridge section lol! As construction is completed, weapons, lighting, consoles/displays and all other detailing that it will take on a more unique look. Will get back to work on the tank at beginning of year. Goal to complete by May 12.  Working on about 100 smaller missiles and guns for the TOVREX.

It is one of my larger scratchbuilds. It's approximately 3ft long! The other build concept is of a alien airship, that will be about 4 to 5ft long.

that mech is the best use of the ATAP I've seen yet.  I've never liked that thing very much... but you've shown that it has great potential.

Your vehicle building skills are phenomenal.  I love it.  amazing work incorporating the LED lights into the mix as well.

Thank you  spudafett! Same here. What I liked about it was the leg stability. So as these went on clearance I bought a few of these to create different types of mecha. The LED lighting brings more realism to the model. Once it primed and painted hopefully the project will still turn out great.

I'm looking forward to finishing the TOVREX-S tank model. This will have all the bells and whistles: LED, light up display screens using adhesive print paper, fan pushed smoke generator (simulate reactor venting), and in command section working LCD screens that will have random photos installed possibly videos.

Its invader aerial counterpart (called "Zarfaren" for now. Human designate: AR-VREXS airship) is going through design and will start building as soon as TOVREX-S is done. This invader airship will be larger than the tank and will combine scratchbuilding and parts from existing vehicles to complete.

I know I don't get on the forums much. Know that I appreciate the support as I become more comfortable with presenting my work. Still feel subpar to many here that have presented excellent work. Those who are on my FB page I appreciate it. I have found a way to work around this status update issue. For those I interact in this community and others to see all updates: select "friends" and click "close friends" and change "subscribed" to all updates. Seems to be the only fix that allows others to see posts that may not have seen due to the FB changes.

Also, although I am still trying to complete certain projects. I may be forced to take a 3 week break from the hobby if I have to get this surgery done. Not looking forward to this and hope other treatments will take affect negating need for surgery.

Thank you again for the kind support for the work posted so far.

Applied coat of Krylon Grey Primer to the Mech. Thinking of using standard olive drab paint as the basic color of the mech.

Any suggestions on paint scheme are appreciated?  Right now I'm thinking woodland camo pattern, applying detail parts to the exterior, and weathering the model.

Comments, suggestions are appreciated.

The flash gives primer kind of a bluish hue. But at least now it's all one color vs collage of styrene, kit parts, and epoxy colors.

Jiminy Chrsitmas! That's amazing! Blown away! I've always liked mechs myself and that looks like it packs a hell of a punch! What is it from? Or is it completely original? Kinda reminds me of the robotic mechs from RoboCop and Tomb Raider. I hope my vehicle builds come out half as good as this!

Thank you, Tamer, LukeSpryWalker, and ActionFigEmpire for the recognition!

Tamer, appreciate the posts on the front page! I'm aiming to complete the paint job this weekend. Once completed I'll post the final updates for Rabid Bear. Then back to TOVREX-S ground destroyer to have assembled, painted, and detailed before May 2012.

Thanks ActionFigEmpire! Appreciate the confidence in my builds. I atill feel like a amateur but trying to change the perception. Designed to do basically to do just that; pack a punch into enemy armor or infantry.  This is one of my concepts. Combination scratchbuild with styrene, model kit/vehicle parts, Aves Epoxy Sculpt, LED's for nav/sensors, and phosphorous rope light for cab lighting.  The modified legs and base are from the Star Wars AT-AP. This is one I'd like to replicate to sell.

Title: 1/18 BGISAM, "Rabid Bear" Mech. Finished!! Pics 15 Mar 12.
Post by: C130IM on March 15, 2012, 10:29:02 AM
One of few alien vehicles reverse engineered by military/civilian engineers working in joint military/militia SR&D facilities. Primary facilities were found outside occupied territory. However, due to dangers of transporting captured equipment, makeshift SR&D facilities were setup throughout the occupied southeastern US. US and other allied forces were hard pressed to duplicate mech and other alien technology.

"Rabid Bear" was part of an enemy scout unit. Militia forces ambushed and destroyed the mech outside Atlanta, GA. Militia took the main chasis (leg components) to mountain base camp. Although non-functional the legs were intact. Engineers integrated the damaged alien hardware with human technology and constructed the first bipedal vehicle. Material was gathered from military posts to construct the vehicle.

The human variant exploited the advantages of execeptional load bearing capababilites of the aliens bipedal design. Nicknamed "Rabid Bear", it was designated in new class of weapon systems: Bipedal Guard - Infantry Support and Assault Mecha (BGISAM).

"Rabid Bear" was heavily armed:

2x side mounted cannons with specially redesigned ammo that could penetrate armor or use fragmentation rounds for infantry support.

2x rear 40 round rocket artililery launchers. Combined, 2 launchers carried total of 80 preloaded rounds and 80 rounds in a cartridge below the launch tubes. The artillery was light but could inflict casualties on light armored/infantry units.

2x side mini-guns for anti-personnel defense

1x lower mounted, twin 30mm chain gun. It could easily take out personnel and light armored vehicles. It had become an effective offensive weapon.

"Rabid Bear" was used in limited offensive engagements. It served more of defensive and recon role for militia and military. Engineers were hard at work trying to mass produce the new bipedal weapon system. Faced major constraints; lack of resources, time, tooling, to mass produce them. Factories were in safe zones distant from the fighting.  The logistics of moving the BGISAM's into occupied territory was difficult.

Military and scientists were in rush to better understand the material used in the alien vehicles. Alien technology was taken out of the occupied territories to safe zones in Tennessee, Kentucky, or Virginia.

Comments, suggestions are appreciated.

This vehicle is truly awesome! I love that you put lights on it too. I think you pretty much did everything you can in order to make this vehicle as good as it could possibly be. I wouldn't change a thing. It looks like something from the movie Avatar, but it can fit in with just about anything.

I think C130IM might like big ole Walker type land vehicles more than me! And if you know me, that is saying something.

I couldn't imagine what he could do doing a full scale Walker along this genre. Truly the AT-AP in this incarnation is about a million percent better than the stock version.

Title: C130IM's Vehicles (1/18 "Badger" M1167 HMMWV) WIP pics; 1 Apr 12
Post by: C130IM on April 01, 2012, 06:39:18 PM
1/18 M1167 "Badger" HMMWV; WIP pics

The "Badger" was used in close combat and for infantry support. The few built were at a TACOM facility in Virginia. Used uparmored HMMWV's and the 25mm main chain gun canned from damaged LAV's. Modifications were made to the chassis and mechanical equipment to support the turret and additional weight of operating equipment and ammunition.

Resource constraints placed on the military during the alien invasion limited mass production of modified, existing weapon systems. The "Badgers" were limited in number. Most were sent into combat zones in South Eastern US where they were desperately needed. It was not uncommon to see militia forces employing "Badger's". Militia used in recon, defense, and hit-and-run operations against alien forces.

Militia and military units would do infield modifications; adding additional armor or sandbags for additional protection in area where the fighting was most intense. It was welcome site to militia forces who were engaged in fighting in the occupied US southeast. The the heavier fire power could easily take out invader troops and potentially light vehicles.

Title: C130IM's Vehicles (1/18 Missile Artillery: MHRAV-R1, "Clearfield") 1 Apr 12
Post by: C130IM on April 01, 2012, 06:42:36 PM
1/18 Missile Artillery: MHRAV-R1, "Clearfield"; WIP pics

The "Clearfield" was a merger of somewhat antiquated and high tech equipment. The Mobile Heavy Rocket Artillery Vehicle (MHRAV), was a truck mounted, dual medium range surface to surface missile system. It was part of a network of heavy and specialized artillery pieces. These vehicles were integrated with a command and control network. Could use real time data from UAV's and laser targeting by forward SOF's. Many cases the coordinates were manually input into the vehicles targeting computer.

The missiles were old but effective at delivering nuclear, conventional, and cluster explosives. Nuclear was a no go. But, the conventional warhead and cluster or frag explosives packed a powerful punch. It could clear a battlefield of enemy infantry or at least inflict a lot of damage and havoc for the enemy. The tonnage of explosive power would cause heavy damage to the surrounding area.

Unfortunately, the "Clearfield" saw limited action. Cons: The collateral damage and civilian death toll could be severe if hit populated areas. If a target was confirmed outside a major city then was a great tool beyond that was not a precision strike weapon. The range was limited to 150 miles. Easily brought down by enemy fire. Slow to reload.

When it was used, the pro's out weighed the cons. Enemy forces suffered casualties and significant damage to their equipment. It's fire power made it an unexpendable asset. The "Clearfieid" operate along the perimeter of the occupied zones. In Virginia, they served a more defensive role if the invaders advanced north.

It's offensive roles were more after targets of opportunity or where there was a significant presence of enemy activity outside populated cities.

Thanks for the comments! Figured put little more work into the Badger. Here are some latest WIP pics. The 1/18 Clearfield is on side until this is complete. With positive reviews of the Rabid  Bear Mech, I've already started work on the follow up 'production' mech.

Added new parts and details to exterior. Few other things left to do and then paint/weather.

1/18 Badger with base coat applied. Armor plates and sand bags painted. What's left: camo, removable armor, lighting, weathering, etc. fold down monitor for driver side for night driving which will light up.

Finally finished! Paint, detailed, weathered, and created blast marks on trucks armor panels. Panels are removable. Driver side has fold up/down LCD screen providing video feed, NAV data, and night vision. All hatches, doors, armor shutters, view port covers are moveable.  Headlights came real dim but still works for this vehicles purpose,

Good grief how have I missed this until today? My jaw is unhinged! Dude, you have really gone all out for this build. Well you do that on everything, so amazing job once again. The detail you have put into this is minboggling. All the scratch building and sculpting has really paid off. Love all the moving parts/working doors and computer screen. Could you bless us with a few low light or night pics to see how the led work looks?

Thanks to everyone for the support!! The badger turned out better than originally thought.

Luke, I appreciate your comments!  I'm learning everyday applying new techniques and ideas to my models. Only downside with this custom/scratchbuild is the lighting. The LED is not bright enough and even with lights off it still dim. The only well lit component is the navigation monitor I built that has simulated night vision appearance to it.

Hoping as I refine skills I can use it in completing the TOVREX tank. In meantime I'm still working on customs and other scratchbuilds. Started work on first "Invader Medium Assault Hover Tank". No pics up yet anywhere still early stage. But, should be a quick build... should lol.
Title: C130IM's Vehicles (1/18 Medium Anti-Grav Assault Tank, MAGAT), WIP 17 Jun 12
Post by: C130IM on June 17, 2012, 12:00:42 AM
Alien military employed vast array of military hardware. The Medium Anti-Grav Assault Tank (MAGAT) was most widely deployed medium tank on Earth and formed the spearhead of the  invasion; a role traditionally reserved for the heavy siege tanks and MBT's in prior conflicts.

The MAGAT was armored, fast (speeds up to 150 mph), highly maneuverable, armed with high powered plasma cannon, and a rapid fire anti-personnel gun. Its counter measure system employed sensors -tied to the nav computer- which detects incoming projectiles and forces extreme, evasive maneuvers aided with side boosters.

The armor was able to withstand direct fire from human tanks including the US M1 Abrams MBT (to some extent).

USMI classified vehicle: anti-grav propelled tank. Anti-grav tanks more agile and not limited to "hovering" a few feet off the ground. Unique to the MAGAT, the anti-grav and smaller size gave ability to execute high/low altitude air drops from transports.

Air Drops drew a lot of power maintaining stability and increased stress on propulsion system during descent (dependent on altitude and planet gravity) In the end, its daily operations, no different then its hover tank counterparts.

Alien leadership did not regard the MAGAT's as anything special. Simply an assault and security enforcement vehicle (riot/crowd control ops). But, against "primitive" human weaponery, they considered MAGAT's effective to lead attacks on global targets.

As war dragged on for several years weak points were identified on the MAGAT. Plasma cannon had slow rate of fire; not beneficial alone against group of human tanks. Cannon disables if overheats. The driver compartment highly exposed with little secondary armor protection. Targeted, repetitive fire on the hull, US M1 Abrams and German Leopard A-6 succeed at neuatralizing the MAGAT's.

MAGAT is smallest of alien armor. It still is a powerful tank to be reckoned with in combat.

Optimus, the legs are from the Clone Wars Republic AV-7 Cannon. Depending how this goes I will be making couple more of these to form up my alien armor groups.

MAGAT Update. Well like other projects it's taking time. Mainly waiting to get material and flicker LED's for this and other WIP's.

Tamer, I haven't tried a AT-AT mod or custom. Something maybe for the future.

Only big changes:

Panels with light up monitors in the driver cab and gunner section. The panels will be painted preventing the light bleeding through the styrene. So monitors will be only lit components along with some different color light effects.

Lighting effect added to interior that emits red light from vents on left/right side of the tank. Will be adding a flicker LED later to enhance the effect.

Added anti personnel gun atop the main gun. Still working on that. Plus added sensor to right side of the turret. That to is WIP as I need another LED for the specific effect I want to emit from the sensor dome.

Rear gunner section is being changed, added one of three monitor panels. Main monitor is the targeting computer. Still working on left/right panels. As result, the gunner hatch is being enlarged providing more room for the gunner to sit with no obstruction.

The main cab I need to add windshield. It will be coated with transparent dark tint spray paint. Deciding to add decal to windshield simulating NAV HUD.

Still some external detail work to finish. Then Paint, detail, weather and it'll be wrapped up.

Thanks everyone! The monitors on front came out to bright but once painted all the light bleed will be reduced. Hitting roadblocks, have too many things I want to start and others I need to finish. I need to get and stay organized.

Tamer, thank you for the front page showing! Sure put me on retainer!  They take a little longer but I enjoy building 1/18 or compatible custom and scratchbuild vehicles. I still like working on custom figures and squeeze those in when I take a break from the vehicle builds.

That bad boy is still sitting on my table. I haven't made much progress as I've bounced between projects. Some of the other projects help fine tune some skills I want to use in its final build. It's the small details that will really take time. There are more materials I need to get in order to finish (more styrene). A lot of people have asked me about the TOVREX which has surprised me lol! That one stands out for some reason.

I have too many ideas in my head and on paper. Once it nags at me long enough I have to start building the basic concept. I need to sit down and focus on completing the big tank and go back to mindset of one or two projects at a time. Versus 5+. It's deverting my attention from completing the projects. Plus, there is a large scale aerial counterpart to the TOVREX (3 to 4 ft long).

Some updates to the MAGAT.

Turret sensor light effects. Running and hiding the wiring in rear turret compartment. Cockpit control modifications. Modified the gunner section to provide more room. Minor exterior modifications. Not shown: started finishing the assembly of the rear, top section of the turret.

It's almost done. Just need to finish details, prime, paint, and minor weathering. Still working on a paint scheme.

Thanks for the support guys! The MAGAT's turret broke off so had to redo the pieces that held it to the main hull. A lot of dremel and cutting to remove the broken piece. New piece is much stronger. Had redo the sculpt. So it sat today so the sculpt epoxy would dry and cure.

Invader fighter, Planetary Dual Role Attack Craft (P-DRAC).

Kitbash, Scratchbuild and sculpt. Still some more work to do on the engine section and the rear thrusters. Working on the lighting as well.

Background:

The alien invasion of earth began with descent of their large, aerial carriers around the globe. They remained well out of range of many militaries advaced anti-air systems. They transport hundreds of fighter craft and various types.

One of the most utilized were DRAC's; small but powerful, fast, agile, single seat fighters. Their small size allowed invader carriers to maintain large inventory of these fighters. Some compared their size to that of a marine LAV-25's.  Swarms of DRAC's launched waves of attacks around the globe. Their main mission in the onset of the invasion: destroy earth military defenses. Secondary, to provide support to the larger AR-VREX craft (bomber class craft) that targeted large population centers. DRAC's were armed with dual rapid fire cannons and missiles capable of destroying airborne and ground based targets.

World Air and Naval forces were outmatched, outgunned and outpaced by these small fighters. US fighter pilots that survived engagements recalled that the DRAC's size, speed and sharp maneuvers made it difficult to acquire and maintain a weapons lock. however, it was not like a sci-fi movie. DRAC's did not have shields and the armor was not impenetrable. When struck by a missile or high caliber machine gun rounds, DRAC's were knocked out of the sky.

Unfortunately, due to the large number of invader fighter craft in the onset of the invasion, global air and naval forces were paralyzed in matter of days. US military ordered remaining air fleet grounded in safe zones well outside occupied territory. As the war dragged into post invasion phase DRAC's conducted air superiority patrols. Conducted hit and run operations outside occupied territory or provided air support to invader ground forces and security forces in occupied zones. They had become vulnerable to surface to air attacks when DRAC's hovered above the ground or in air when performing recon missions. Regular military and militia savered the opportunity to shoot down these fighters. Many DRAC's were shot down during patrol and security operations near the Appalachains far from their base of operations. The Appalachain mountain range had become a source of irritation to the invader leadership.

Appreciate the continued support from ISY community!

Tamer, it's funny you ask the question. Wife asks me the same question when I start a project. The ideas have been in my head for years. Just never really had the time or resources to do the more complex builds.  The vehicles are from my Scifi story and gives me a long list of  invader vehicles to design and build.   I visualize what I want and push forward with the build.

Title: C130IM's Vehicles (1/18 MAGAT Tank, Complete), WIP, 19 Nov 12
Post by: C130IM on November 19, 2012, 10:20:36 PM
I've been offline for couple months dealing with some personal matters. My work room is finally done and I can finally focus more on my projects again. This was first Sci-fi scratchbuild that I've painted using colors that are outside my comfort zone. Use to military drab colors. I held off on adding any weathering or damage to this vehicle. Interested in hearing opinions.

Background:

Alien military employed vast array of military hardware. The Medium Anti-Grav Assault Tank (MAGAT) was widely deployed medium tank on Earth and formed the spearhead of the  invasion. That role traditionally was reserved for heavy siege tanks and MBT's in past conflicts.

The MAGAT was armored, fast (speeds up to 150 mph) and highly maneuverable. It was med with high powered plasma cannon, rapid fire anti-personnel/aircraft gun, and 2 light laser cannons built into the sides of the tank. Its counter measure system employed sensors -tied to the nav computer- which detect incoming projectiles and forces evasive maneuvers aided with side boosters and its Propulsion Assist System..

The armor was able to withstand direct fire from most human tanks including the US M1 Abrams MBT (to some extent). Survivability declines in prolonged engagements without air or other unit support.

USMI classified vehicle: anti-grav propelled tank. Anti-grav tanks more agile and not limited to "hovering" a few feet off the ground. Unique to the MAGAT, the anti-grav and its smaller size gave ability to execute high/low altitude air drops from invader transports.  Air drops drew a lot of power to maintain stability and increased stress on propulsion system during descent (dependent on altitude and planet gravity).  In the end, its daily operations, no different then its hover tank counterparts.

Alien leadership did not regard the MAGAT's as anything special. Simply an assault and security enforcement vehicle (riot/crowd control ops). But, against "primitive" human weaponery, initially they considered MAGAT's effective to lead attacks on global targets.

As war dragged on several years weak points were identified on the MAGAT. Plasma cannon had slow rate of fire and could overheat.  Not beneficial alone against group of opposing MBT's. The driver/gunner compartment are highly exposed with little secondary armor protection. Repetitive fire from heavy tank rounds  on the MAGAT's hull (US M1 Abrams and German Leopard A-6) would succeed at neuatralizing the MAGAT's.

MAGAT's would continue to serve in the field throughout the alien campaign on Earth.

Any comments/suggestions for the completed version?  The paint scheme is kind of a new direction for me since I am more used to military paint schemes.

I'm guessing due to lack of response that either the design or paint is terrible. I've requested some input. I'm looking at revising the metallic grey base paint scheme.

Wow, how did I miss this. it looks outstanding.

About the only thing I would ever consider is a standard Imperial paint job with an imperial symbol, that or couldn't you see Sugi and company getting out of something like this or a group of Mandos.

Thanks Tamer and everyone for the comments! This tank had a mixed review which was kind of expected. The color scheme is outside what I typically use. I am looking at using another paint scheme and see how it comes out. Using more grays and possibly a darker green used more for railroad projects.

The build is brilliant Chad. The paint job does leave something to be desired. As you know I am a nut about weathering vehicles. I think you new paint scheme with some weathering would seal the deal.

I agree, a little bit of dirty would provide a rocking visual. Regardless, this tank is a top quality kind of work. Impressed me a lot.

Hey everyone! Feel like this is a good year for finishing old and starting new custom model projects. Thanks to the community for the support!

Repainted the 1:18 Invader, MAGAT (Medium Anti-Grav Assault Tank). The paint scheme on previous page wasn't my best paint work. Looks much better now and weathering helps, too.

Title: C130IM's Vehicles - 1:18 Custom China PLA Type-99A Main Battle Tank, 10 Jan 13.
Post by: C130IM on January 10, 2013, 06:08:47 AM
Customized Trumpeter China PLA Type-98 MBT model kit. Completed upgrade to 1:18 PLA Type-99A MBT.  Modified the turret configuration, added the reinforced armor, cut open copula and hinged hatches to open, painted digital camo and weathered.  Pic included showing difference between the Type-98 and the Type-99A MBT's.

The China PLA and other militaries do play a role in my verse.

This is another 1:18 invader vehicle; Heavy Siege Tank Tracked, WIP

Not much to look at right now. This will look bigger to point where the turret doesn't consume the model. Granted turret is purposely large. Each part is being built as a individual component.

Still working on the turret. Built up the turret walls. The turret will have gantry on the side.  Front turret; need to redo the measurements and angles. It will have launchers in the turret.

Rear turret; two part build. Rear wall with hinge components (wiring, hoses). Second part MLPS system which raises/lowers from rear of turret.

Sides of the tank will be extended with armor/functional panels. Weapons installed.

Front of tank: will be beefed up and using movable panels. Finish crew cab.

All including the lighting and panels. Need to print the decals for the panels.

Post by: C130IM on February 03, 2013, 09:42:35 AM
Thanks Tamer!! As always appreciate this groups support! Wraithnine, I had the same impression, lol.

When all said in done the tank will be about 10 inches wide when install the side panels (not armor skirts that you see on side's of Abrams or other MBT's). Their thicker and contain hidden weapons and a antigrav assist propulsion system (if the tracked system becomes disabled). When that runs, the main weapon goes off line due to power transfer to lift the tank.

You wont see too much of the road wheels or tracks. The front of the tank will have beefed up appearance to what you see now. Plus articulated panels in front of the tracks and cab section.

The cannon will have a lighting effect to rear of the barrel (dremeling out holes where see the yellow painted plastic on the barrel). Rear of the tank the turret will have a MLPS that can rise, lower, and lock seamlessly into the back of the turret. It will also sport around 40 to 100 removable rockects depending on type want to use (most likely going with 50 or 60).

I'm going through and sizing up decals to fit within the interior. Those will be printed on selfadhesive transparent and soft white inkjet decal paper.

Tamer, I'm still working on the TOVREX-S ground destroyer (the big scratchbuild). The HSTT is the little brother of the TOVREX. As matter of fact. I notice the links are broken on some of the custom pages. Do you see the photobucket error boxes on your end??

Title: C130IM's Vehicles - 1:18 Planetary, Dual Role Attack Craft (P-DRAC), 18 Feb 13.
Post by: C130IM on February 18, 2013, 06:53:41 PM

Invader fighter, Planetary Dual Role Attack Craft (P-DRAC).

The alien invasion of earth began with descent of large, aerial carriers around the globe. These carriers remained well out of range of many military's advanced anti-air defense systems. They transport hundreds of various fighter type craft. One of the most utilized fighters were P-DRAC's; small but powerful, fast, agile, single seat fighters.

Their small size allowed invader carriers to maintain large inventories of P-DRAC's. Some compared their size to that of a marine LAV-25's. Swarms of DRAC's launched waves of attacks around the globe. Their main mission in the onset of the invasion: destroy earth military defenses. Secondary, to provide support to the larger AR-VREX craft (bomber class craft) that targeted major population centers. DRAC's (as commonly known) were armed with dual rapid fire cannons and proton missiles capable of destroying airborne and ground based targets. World Air and Naval forces were outmatched, outgunned and outpaced by these small fighters. US fighter pilots that survived engagements recalled that the DRAC's size, speed and sharp maneuvers made it difficult to acquire and maintain a weapons lock.

Unlike many alien sci-fi movies. DRAC's did not have shields and the armor was not impenetrable. When hit by a missile or high caliber machine gun round, DRAC's were easily knocked out of the sky. Unfortunately, due to the large number of invader fighter craft in the onset of the invasion, global air and naval forces were paralyzed in matter of days. US military ordered remaining air fleet grounded in safe zones well outside occupied territory.

As the war dragged into post invasion phase. DRAC's conducted air superiority patrols, hit and run operations, or provided air cover to invader ground forces and security forces in occupied zones. DRAC's had become vulnerable to surface-to-air missile attacks when they hovered feet above the ground or high in the air when performing recon missions.

US military and militia savored the opportunity to shoot down these fighters. Many DRAC's were shot down during security patrols near the Appalachians far from their central base of operations. The Appalachian mountain range had become a source of irritation to the invader leadership and to P-DRAC pilots.

I think this is one of my favourite vehicle customs of all time! Love it! Cant quite tell what it used to be? I suspect there is a Stargate Glider in there and possibly a Gi Jo  Night Hawk? Brilliant work! :)

Thanks guys as always! The support from thr ISY is most appreciated! This fighter should been completed sooner but it's done now. Likes the cobalt blue paint.  I'm happy this worked out. I have enough to build 2 more of these. But priority back to the large ground destroyer and the invader MBT.

I would love to see you finish that huge ole tank you have in the works. I would love to read this book you are making up for this alien invasion. I really like sci-fi books of a military invasion genre that really go into detail about the ships and technology the aliens are using. Some authors get too wrapped up in it, but this is definitely to my level of taste. I would sure buy the book!

That's one hell of a cool custom C130, anything with LED's has to win extra special critical acclaim as it's going that extra mile in terms of customisation.

Really outstanding piece!

Tamer; the good news. I am getting back to work on the large ground destroyer. Still squeezing other projects in but this and the HSTT are priority to finish this year.

If time permits. Hope to have 3 more P-DRAC's  built this year. Possibly, once find a company here, I want get them cast and run a limited production run of these fighters.

Title: C130IM's Vehicles - 1:18 Heavy Siege Tank Tracked (HSTT), WIP. 3 Mar 13
Post by: C130IM on March 03, 2013, 06:38:30 PM
The Heavy Siege Tank (HSTT) was one of several tracked (anti grav assist) invader siege tanks. Far more powerful than their own class of MBT. Human combat vehicles just could not withstand the HSTT's firepower.

HSTT's had multiple armaments. Most notable;  it's high yield, energy based, main cannon with a secondary multi-barrel plasma gun. One could wipe out the strongest human tanks in blink of an eye. They had very few weaknesses. However,  lacked the speed of MAGAT's but could still attain speeds of 65 MPH in open terrain. They required landing craft to deploy. Then they would convoy into the combat zone.  These tanks were heavily armored. But, a well placed hit near the base of the main cannon or forward crew cab would at minimum disable the vehicle.

Invader tanks designated as 'Siege' packed additional firepower. Multiple launch projectile systems (MLPS) were mounted on side or back of the vehicle. HSTT's MLPS was mounted on the rear or top of the turret. The MLPS expanded the function of the tank to provide artillery support. It launches long/medium range rocket fire on various targets (capacity ranged 20 to 100 missiles). They fought human armor units, desimated bases, and rained destruction on large population centers. The HSTT would become most feared by regular military and militia units.

Yesterdays WIP for comparison. Attached 40 round rocket launcher. Rotates and elevates. All rockets are removable.

Hello Chad,
I have to ask since scratch building awesome looking vehicles is front and center this week. Can I ask some questions?

What are you making the body out of? is it foam board?
What are you using as glue/bonding?
Are you going to fill the joints? If, yes what will you use?
Is there a underlying skeleton under the panels?
Do you use anything outside of graph paper to work out your panel sizing (like a program)?

Any tips?

Thanks!

The tank top, interior body is made from styrene; plain, pattern, tube, I-beams. Base is from 1/16 RC tank. Other parts used from Star Wars and MSG.

For bonding. Depending on material, weight, and material. Most times model masters glue works great with styrene. I use superglue for parts I need to bond quickly (ABS to styrene and hard angles). For large models, where there is significant weight and size, I use screws and bolts and glue.

Yes. I always sand down parts and fill in gaps as well as build parts of my models using Aves Epoxy Sculpt or Fixit.

For some of the tank (turret, interior chassis), I use a skeleton to provide a stable frame for large pieces to help with load bearing and prevent warping/drooping. Comes in handy. Future project, due to its size and weight it will have to consist of a skeleton frame so can use thinner plastic to reduce the weight.

Regarding dimensions. That's hard for me to explain for some reason. I visualize the vehicle in my mind. Most are from a personal storyline/verse that I've worked on over a decade. I don't use a program or graph paper (granted a program would speed up the design process). I do take pictures of each part cut and assembly made. This model has 209 pictures of the build process (if decide to replicate the build).  Most have no sketch. I build my models on the go based on what I imaged in my head.  I use tools like angles, compass, X-Acto knife, sculpting material, cutting boards, miters, Stylus Dremel, LED's. chisels, micro-cutters, etc. I do use graph paper for hard to measure angles in tight spots.

Tips. Hard to do mainly because never been asked. Also because the ideas exist in mind. The build; requires patience! My largest tank called TOVREX-S, has been a WIP since Apr 09. That's due to combination of factors. Time and other projects. The average vehicle scratchbuild for me is around 6 months. Customs can be couple weeks to couple months. Use your imagination. Key to anything you do in the scratchbuild/custom hobby starts within your imagination. If you need to draw it then start there. Me, drawing actually inhibits me. But that's how my mind is. I can build and take pictures to remember specific dimensions, parts, etc. but it slow me down. But you can build pretty much whatever you want. Need to have patience with your builds. Especially if they are large or complex.

Thanks all! I'm waiting on some material to come that I ordered about a week ago. Kind of ticked at the moment because they finally shipped today but backordered key item I need to work on the HSTT. That's reason haven't had any updates. The interior will have a lot of detail in the turret and cab. Need different set of LED's and EL lighting.

Meantime, I moved forward with large build number 3. Have no pics yet. But think it will come out nicely when finished. It too, I need these parts to reinforce the structure but I started the kitbash part of the build.

I owe some an apology. Comments were made that I am not sharing, participating with the group, and keeping my ideas secret. If this is the appearance it is not intentional.

I wish I had more time to scratchbuild and customize. Between work, medical (wife and mine), limited hours of just able to even function and work on the hobby are limited to maybe 1 or 2 hours during the week. Little more on the weekends. I have a lot of ideas swimming around in my head. Just can't get them out fast enough which really sucks.

What's stated above is pretty much the same for participation, sharing, teaching builds, or whatever. When comes to builds and teaching or sharing how, I am not that great at that. Maybe I'm making it more difficult, don't know. I have no drawings, just mental images of what I want to build and that's where it's designed. I take pictures of each step/part/assembly should I decide to duplicate the build. I run into blocks when I try to explain certain mechanics of what I do. And if say the wrong thing then that person that comes to me will be pissed. However, I will do better in explaining processes when asked. Again, I am probably making it more difficult then it should to answer some questions that go into the build process.

Another thing is the notification system for this and other forums. I rarely receive them. So I am not ignoring anyone. If need to contact me please send me an email. It's best way for me to receive and respond in more timely manner.

I really am appreciative of the support here on ISY. That is something I don't take for granted. You all provide feedback which I greatly appreciate. By no means do I think I'm the greatest Scratchbuilder or customizer. I am still learning, too. I'll try to interact more than I have. FB is easy because most time I'm mobile so I post a comment and move on. Not as in depth as in the forums.

For those who felt this way, I apologize and will try however I can to improve interaction here on ISY.

Chad you don't have to apologize for what you share. This is a hobby. Real life always takes precedence over this.

I for one have never felt that you were 'secretive" or not helpful when it came to answering questions about your work.

We just appreciate what you do share.

Sorry guys. Not much of an update. Just minor work:

Turret gantry. When completed it will wrap around the back, from door to door.

Some minor detailing. Working on decal overlays and display designs.

Biggest dilemma. Waiting on electronic components from another source. Can't seal up and finish the turret/cab without finishing the lighting/displays. The same with the main barrel. Hopefully the stuff I need will come in next week.

Meantime I'm working on an exciting large scale build. The 1:18 Invader Inter-Atmospheric Craft (IIAC), Zh?róng zhànjiàn (warship). When run into situations where running short on material (electronics especially) I'm going to start working on more 1:18 invader figures, human resistance and civilian figures, and simple custom vehicles.

Title: C130IM's Vehicles - 1:18 Invader I-AC, Zhuróng Zhànjiàn (Warship), WIP
Post by: C130IM on May 30, 2013, 07:34:39 PM
Been on a hiatus primarily focusing on a new concept and scratchbuild. The HSTT tank is shelved temporarily until I can work out some issues with its design.

So introducing the 1:18 Invader Inter-Atmospheric Craft, Zhuróng Zhànjiàn. The TOVREX arial cousin. Right now the ship is being built in sections. In the pictures, the aft and forward body are temporarily attached for the pictures.

These warships served as part of the invaders 'fleet security and offensive fighter/bomber wing' when deployed with the expeditionary fleets.  Back in their home system, the invaders utilized the warship to hunt, engage, and destroy insurgent weaponry and positions on troublesome planets within their realm of control.  They also played major role defending their space from external intruders especially their long time enemy in another region of space.

On Earth, they were used in combat operations where organized military resistance was placing undue pressure on the invaders ground and air forces. Such was the case in China where the warship was first seen in combat. Dubbed "Zh?róng zhànjiàn" by a Chinese PLA General after witnessing the ships firepower during the siege of Hong Kong and early bombardment of Beijing.

Heavy Armament:

They were built tough with redundant armor and magnetic shielding which provided additional protection.

4 double barrel (legacy), rapid or constant fire cannons (2 port and 2 starboard). Used for ship to ship engagements or ground support operations.
2 forward plasma disruptor projectile emitters. Energy of projectile adjustable controling explosive yield.
4 side mounted smaller plasma disruptor projectile emitters (2 starboard/port sides). Ship to ship and ground support.
1 Top mounted heavy weapon. Fixed position. Geared towards frontal attack against other ships. It similar to the plasma disruptors. However, instead of firing a single projectile. The top weapon was capable of firing a sustained, powerful, beam combining other material to boost the destructive power. No reports ever made of its use on Earth.

The ship was designed with many redundant systems. From engines to power plant. Independent plasma fusion core powered the weapons. A second fusion core fueled the engines. Has a large internal gravity well allowing it to hover. Unlike the P-DRAC, it was capable of entering and leaving various planetary atmospheres under its own power and shielding. They could launch from the fleet carrier in orbit with no requirement for a transport.

Its main weakness was tied to energy drain. Power for the plasma disruptors placed burden on its weapons core.  Especially during an intensive firefight with a craft of equal or greater power.

Many associate this warship with the TOVREX ground destroyer. The US designated it the ARVREX. Both are apparently invincible. And have left wake of destruction in their paths.

ShamanLogRay; thanks for the comments! The HSTT is a temporary setback. However, the larger ground destroyer, TOVREX, is back on the bench to finish. My goal is to complete the Invader vehicles; Zh?róng Zhànjiàn, TOVREX, and MAGAT Ver. 2 vehicles. Complete the US BG-ISAM HM2 "Kodiak" Mech.

There are other kits that I'm adapting to my verse (Votoms) that work out in there configuration (exception of the wheels on the feet).

Tamer; thank you to you and rest of the ISY community for the continued support!  Hope to have more updates soon.

Progress on this model is slow and little tedious. Due in part to how its being built. Making sure the weight and each part is supported properly.

Latest updates:

Additional airframe panels added to the sides, bottom, and framing for support.

The front section is the hardest part because each piece is smaller, cut to fit the proper angles and measurements of the panel next to it. Wait time to allow the Aves sculpt to cure.

Managed to prep the main weapon stanchion. It will be mounted above the ship command section.

There are now 5 main assemblies planned that will form the final build: main body, aft thruster section, upper weapon section, lower sensor array/weapon section, landing gear assembly.

It's slow but want to show that the WIP is proceeding and not being pushed off like the HSTT (little frustrated right now with that build).

Adding panels to the Zh?róng Zhànjiàn (warship). Start interior work on the command section and cockpit. Still slow process. Working on the upper and lower weapon assemblies separately. The aft engines will be the last section to attach.

Started work on 1/18'ish (1/20) USCM APC Resin Kit. Have 2 working on. One on order and another pending. These are adapted to my verse and will have standard aliens APC and 2 with different armament. Most time went into aligning the holes in the wheel wells. Also attached a 1/35 scale buffer to the wheels. One to provide space between the wheel and hull. Finally to help with centering the axle holes in each wheel.  Basic kit assembly doesn't take long unless you make modifications to it.

Thanks ShamanLogRay! Appreciate the great comment! Wish had more time to work on these. Updates would be quicker then they have been.

This is 1/20 Colonial Marines APC Resin kit. No long write up on the back story. It is adapted to my verse. It is still an APC (advanced US military APC using Navy based laser technology or rail gun system; haven't decided).  Making a rocket launching variant.
Made some custom changes to the kit:
- elevated wheel height (for my purpose and more common with modern APC's)
- cut out opening for driver side door. Door is hinged and turning handle locks the door.
- add slide rail and rod so the side door can open/close.
- made joints so main gun can elevate. Pins to allow both main and forward twin barrel gun to rotate.
- cut out resin to add windshield to frame.
- in process off adding seat to interior. Not that easy unless want to cut out section of the floor or roof to do more interior work.

Thanks guys!! I purchased 3 kits from a Raymond Perez. I made modifications to the kit some obvious and not. Most notable the wheel height which -funny enough- has caused a little 'debate'. I explained to everyone on FB, the kit producer, and think forums that I was increasing the wheel height to be more in line with modern APC's.  And, adapted to my verse.

I was thinking if changing the turret design. Technically, I don't have to. Coolest part was news about a month or two ago that the US Navy deploying first ship based laser weapon on one of their destroyers. Then the talk that fighter jets can be equipped with a laser weapon!! Not visible beam now. It  adds some legitimacy of leaving the turret/barrels as is :). And fits into the later part of my verse. An advanced military unit employs new technology that allows US forces to fight with on a little level playing field.

Yeah, $300 seems high. But take into account design, material costs (resin/mold/machine), limited production,, availability of such a kit in the market, then add in whatever profit he gets; the price is reasonable. Granted, most who buy these type kits are collectors.  I bought my kits over period of about a year.  Then another this month for a custom project.  There is another kit maker for the APC but he charges close to £700 ($1,083) per kit! These are the only two producers I know of.

Title: C130IM's Vehicles - Aliens USCM APC (modified), Complete 6 Jul 13
Post by: C130IM on July 06, 2013, 08:16:10 PM
1:20 "Aliens" USCM APC Resin Kit
Name changed: 1:18 US Army AR-TAV, M588 APC.

Customized this model kit to adapt to storyline. The M588 falls into class of advanced technology weapon systems. Supplied to US Army and Marines.

Development, integration and production of advanced weapon systems were conducted at Natick and Tobyhanna. Production facilities and new weapon systems were hidden in the rugged Appalachians spanning from Pennsylvania north to parts of New York.

The idea of using Air taxis to convert to APC's was actually feasible. Improved laser weapom technology derived from the Navy and Air Force prior to the invasion of Earth was finally advanced enough to set atop an armored vehicle. The laser cannon fired a high energy pulse laser beam. Assembly, modification and integration of new technology had relative short leadtime. Moving the vehicles was more tedious task to avoid detection once they left the protected facilities.

First of 13 APC'S were Assigned to a new Army division. The APC designated:  Advance Research Tactical Assault Vehicle (AR-TAV), M588 APC. Nicknamed "Cameron". Each APC could carry 10 personnel. The engine was incased in a noise and heat suppression compartment.

APC is weathered, decals (from multiple kits), attached smoke grenade launchers and a forward telescopic sensor. The sensor raises and lowers (raises when stationary). The sensor provides night/day/thermal video surveillance. It has long range laser target tracking system. Operated by crew or automated.  The unit can maintain lock on a target and feed the data to US artillery, armor, and air forces for direct fire missions. It also guides cruise missiles. The MLRS version of the APC uses same technology.

Main turret has its own dedicated laser tracking/locking system. When target is engaged the tracking system takes over as a fire-and-forget weapon. It allows the pulse laser weapon to remain locked on a target with gunner ability to override system.

Some custom changes to the kit:

- elevated wheel height for more ground clearance (more common with modern APC's)

- cut out opening for driver side door. Door is hinged and turning handle locks the door.

- add slide rail and rod so the side door can open/close.

- made joints so main gun can elevate. Pins to allow both main turrer and forward twin barrel gun to rotate.

- smoke grenade launchers added to left/right of the hull.

- Telescopic sensor array. When on surveillance/recon missions, the sensor rises about 5" max. The sensor rotates and tilts.

- cut out resin to add windshield to frame.

- Seats added to interior. Two rotate. Computer/control center added to right front wheel well.

- Steering mechanism added.

- Front headlights and rear taillights. Spotlight operates independently. Interior lighting uses green LED. Also independent of the other light units.

Post by: C130IM on November 06, 2013, 07:29:39 PM
Been off the forums for a while. A lot different stuff going on but getting back into the scratchbuilds.

I have promised for long time that I would finish the 1:18 Invader Class, TOVREX-S Ground Destroyer.
It's now 4+ years since I first started the build. Breaks in between, other issues, materials, time, and other distractions kept me from making significant progress since 2010. I am back to work on this project with intent to complete it!

I moved it from the holding table over to the workstation. The progress won't always be obvious in updates for this model. But, they'll be there.
This is recap of the project. I have to change the build process. Right now only one side is complete (track shielding, and other parts need to be added).

Since moving the model, I am basically reorganizing the materials and assembled one of the 2nd level access panels.

Model in progress

1:18 Invader class; Main Anti-Grav Assault Tank M-2, (MAGAT M-2), "Hammerhead".

It has been long time since I've posted any updates on customs and scratchbuilds.  Life events, work, and time have squeezed My hobby time.  Making some changes to free up my schedule so can work more on finishing up projects.
Over past 8 months I have initiated design and WIP's for several projects working concurrently.

The MAGAT M2 is upgraded variant of the MAGAT V1.  This model is 90% complete. Need to touch up weathering and details.  Also, making the driver/gunner figures for MAGAT M2 .

1:18 Militia Guntruck (Occupied Southeast US, Georgia Unit)

Most militia units -which had no interface with SOF's or other military remnants in the southeast- relied on whatever they could find.

Simple civilian trucks, cars, jeeps, were converted to light and heavily armed vehicles. Using variety of weapons. Although the invaders considered these militia groups as minor threat. They played key roles in disrupting some alien operations. Most operations involved hit-and-run attacks on smaller invader scout units. Others would provide fire coordinates to US artillery in unoccupied areas of invader targets.

This particular truck sported a 37mm cannon. Taken from a collector it was hoisted into the back of a Dodge Ram 3200. Steel plates, tank tracks, were placed on sides and front of truck. The cannon was very effective against invader infantry.

Just looked back and seen the Hammerhead.

Thank you, Tamer, Clonehead, and everyone!  You all have  been very supportive of my work for past few years and I cannot thank you all enough!

For this custom. I went with a 1:18 diecast Dodge 3200 truck.  Took most time creating the crumpled-in effect on the left side (dremel, tap, mini-hammer, screwdriver, etc).  The cannon is 3D printed 1:18 German Flak 37mm AA gun.
The weathering used combination of wash and more weathering powder.
The armor is made from clapboard pattern styrene.  The flatbed side armor used combination styrene and 1:16 scale T-55 tank track links.
The shutter and side panels on the can can be raised and lowered.  The front panel slides off.  And the individual rear side panels are removable.  Still work left to do mainly on the interior of the cab.
