Well nothing new. Story of my life lately. July is a coming though!

didnt pick any up, but I did see the mouse and basso comic two pack wave show up again in my walmarts. I am hoping to see the obi arc comic two pack as mine got kinda bent in my move from work to home a few weeks ago. Still, it was nice to see something new. I also saw the SW transformer walker again. Thinking about getting one for my little gal to play with if she were just a bit older. Guess I could buy it and just save it for her.

my drought seems to be lifting. I found all the build a droid walmart two packs today along with the three new comic packs. That wookie and clone pack looks pretty sweet, not to mention that stormy with lando. The Dooku and Anakin was so so imo, but I am a completist and picked it up.

still havent found anything since the build a droid two packs. Pat has found some new ships, but not poor little me. Man my pegs are decimated too. I sure don't see signs of new store displays or restocks either. :'(

nothing new came home, but I did see two new things;

one, the Battle of Mygeeto BP and I did like the black droids, but it was creased so I passed. If I see it again maybe. Good lord knows I need to save my money.

two, I saw the new Clone Wars Galactic Heroes and noticed some of em had some cardback variations.

my local walmart has opened up the pegs. They look like they are gonna have lots of room. It looked like there were two sections for Star Wars Starfighter. I am hoping this means bigger and then smaller ships. Guess we won't have to wait too much longer.

Well here goes;

I walked into my closest walmart around 7am to find they didnt have anything out.  So I drove to my other somewhat local walmart and hit the jackpot. They everything except for the battlepacks and excluisve walmart 501. It is looking to me like target is the only store that actually has thier store exclusive figure available for purchase. Anyhow, I picked up 1st day of issue for the Clone Wars, Legacy Wave 1, and what I am calling Legacy Wave 3 except for the Gree which didnt seem to have a first day of issue sticker on the dozen or so I looked at.  I did see later at my local walmart they had set out the battlepacks and I almost bought the speeder bike recon, but it looked so much like the Neyo one last year I held off. I want to save my money for those evolutions and as the Hoth speeder bike one had one corner dinged up I was glad to know Chad already had found me one.  I really do like the new clone wars packaging of these battle packs though. I had the other Hoth bp in my hands for a bit too, but it sure didn't seem worth it to me, at least not next to the speeder bike recon and the hoth speeder patrol.  My closest walmart still hadn't set out the regular basic figures or new ships yet though. One toy stocker said she didnt think that would be till monday when the toy manager got off vacation. Just my luck the toy manager goes on vacation when the new toys are supposed to hit.  I also didnt see the exclusive Awing  yet.  I think the only thing I was disappointed in was the atte and the falcon, not the ships, but how the displays were set up. I think anyone who is a carded collector like me is gonna have one heck of a time if they really expect total momc. I picked through the entire display and got the best boxed version of each, but each of them has issues to a trained eye. If I see these later in better boxed shape I may just return these and pick up the better version, but they sure do look good even with a few box dings.

Not too much to report today. I stopped into my closest walmart to get ice today and checked the SW aisle. They still havent set out anything new besides a couple of the new battlepacks. The new Hoth speeder recon was still there so I nabbed it and am gonna use it as an OPENER when I do my Hoth dio.  Yes I did say open it. I just don't think two figs and two speeder bikes is that bad of a deal for twenty smackers.

On another note I added a joker squad pack to an already placed order which was nice of EE so I didnt loose my place in the proverbial line. I also ordered two of the disturbance in the force packs as Chad talked me into it and it does look good packaged. I need to remember to put that hasbro link up for those who havent seen it yet.

my local walmart finally put out a few basic figs. They had CW 1 and Legacy 1 and Legacy Greatest Hits 1 and part of that wave was the 1st day of issue carded Gree so I crossed that off my list. They still havent set out any of the new ships and I am thinking they may not do the bigger ones at all as this is not a really big store. The only other thing of note was the did have the Galactic Heroes out and there were still two of the other Hoth bps there.

Jedi Conventions. Thats at least what they are calling it. I don't think it is gonna be as big as ones I have seen pictures of, but it will give me a chance to go to some type of SW convention and spread the good word of the Yards.

Well I returned the gree without the first day of issue sticker and walked by the toy aisle. They have some more SW stuff out, but nothing I wanted. I had that hoth recon pack in my hands for a few seconds, but still put it back down. Chad, that white protocol droid and astromech sound like great additions to your dio if you have the room for em.  I may just end up getting this and using it as an opener if I ever get past my main Hoth dio I want to do. The probe droid looks pretty good too. The han and chewy dont do much for me, but the three droids are ok.

I also saw the new clone wars carded transformers today. I probably would have bought one in the new deco if it had been an atat. Looks like just more of the same to me though. This same store also had tac cards right alongside the new waves at the same price. I dont think my walmarts believe in clearancing till after xmas.

On another note, I saw a ton of Joes today. Will Bill, Bazooka, droid cobra, firefighter one (thought of you Pat), black clad stormshadow, another neat looking cobra soldier, general Hawk. Looks like the SW prices caught up to them though. Geesh, thought that line would at least stay normal for me.

makes sense Chad. YOu wouldnt want any pesky droids listening in on your secret conversatons. Do you think this new K is the same one as the potj release?

I thought the K-3P0 was based off the Endor C-3P0,  articulated body and jointed knees, I hope it isnt a straight re-pack, however I am liking the R5-M2, and the Probe Droid (just shows Hasbro can paint old figures and make them look new).

So, has anyone besides Clint actually picked this up?

Hoth Recon Set aside, I went to my bigger walmart that had the big store release last Saturday to see what the damage was. There were six BMF's left which meant six sold and there were still 7 at-te sold which meant 5 sold.  For my very rural stores, thats a pretty good sale so far when thats a large chunk of change to let go. I look for these all to be gone in another month or so. Maybe hasbro will have to do a reset on these bigger ships by xmas season. There were still legacy and cw wave 1 to be found. I also saw plenty of GH figs too. The only wave that was completely gone was the Legacy Wave 2. I knew folks would love that wave.  The only figure I was able to find from this wave was a Quarren soldier and nothing else. It also looks like the spider droid is the popular ship as they were gone. there was only one Torrent left too.  They still didnt have any of the newer battlepacks set out yet or maybe they were just all bought, but I did see there was a column of pegs set up for the 9.96 clone trooper which I am assuming is the 501s join figure. I will be going back in a few days and will see if they have filled the pegs.

Ok you guys talked me into the Hoth Recon BP. It is nice and I do like Hoth. Wish they had done something with Han and Chewie, but the droids are all sure nice.

On another front, I noticed something new in GIJOE today, what are the battle packs they have now that say build the M.A.S.S.  machine or something like that. They also came with dvd's. This looked like an awesome set. I saw two kinds; one with destro and another with a firebat looking guy. Cool stuff.

Poor guy, not able to get your big ships. I feel for you. I couldnt get out of the store without em. I can imagine what the folks in my walmart thought when I started inspecting the boxes of each one, but I didnt care. I had Chad to keep my straight on the phone.

well noting major to report. I had a 1st issue han in my hands till I noticed he had a pretty bad crease. Almost Greg. I have yet to see Legacy Wave 2 at that store either or any of the ATTE's or BMFs. They may not get any of those though, they are pretty small.

I am still seeing those neat GI Joe figs, including that build the m.a.s.s. driver machine with the dvd's. I am kinda hoping they do something like this for Clone Wars when they release the movie and tv episodes on sale in dvds.

I did see some Marvel Legends on the clearance rack for five bucks. Thye had the torch, the white queen, and banshee. They put a few SW things there, but t hey still have em at full price.

Yepper, always has. I don't know what the issue is. I had one package damaged from work when it sat there over the Xmas break, but other than that my packages sent to my work addy have generally been good. I have complained numerous times about my package condition for my home stuff. They say they are looking into it, stuff improves for a package or two and then it goes right back to the horribly damaged stuff.  I never send any of your packages through em, I always go to my in laws or my work post office.

well I started back to work today so I used the ride home to swing by my closest wally world. Like you guys have seen they have tons of wave one legacy and clone wars on the pegs. Doubt I see any new figs there anytime soon. I also saw they had restocked thier battlepacks, but boy were they buggered up big time. I didnt see many of the 20 dollar ships either, just a lone Torrent and Spider Droid.  They did have the new comic packs in, but the comics were overflowing so much they had to stock some of the new ones on top. They also forced em over the top of the pegs which I hate cause it just tears the heck out of the J pegs.  Still, lots of Star Wars to go round. I even saw quite a few first day of issue stickers there.
Title: Re: The Woods of West Virginia
Post by: Tamer on August 23, 2008, 04:37:06 AM
nothing of note. Looks like my pegs in my one walmart are starting to clear out a bit. I hope this means I get to see legacy three here before too long. I bet hasbro staggers the releases right, but stores with overcrowding pages arent gonna give us the waves at the right time so we will probably get CW and Legacy Waves 3 at the same time. Looks like they are also almost sold out of the walmart ex. five oh one too. There were tons of em just  a week agao. They are down to four falcons and two attes too.  Bet we see a Fall reset for xmas here in a little while too.  Still no sign of the new awings, but I am hoping anytime now. Looks like Darth Caedus found wave 3 of Legacy at walmart so I am going back today.
Title: Re: The Woods of West Virginia

hit both my local stores today. My local store still hasn't put out anything past wave 1 of legacy and CW that I can see. They did have the new titaniums out today though.  They also had at least two each of the Hoth speeder bike, recon speeder bike, and Hoth recon battlepacks out and looking good. So much for worrying I wouldnt see those again. On a bad note, there are so many old comic packs there I bet it will be awhile before I see the new ones.

At my other wally world I did see that wave three legacy must have been put out again as I saw the Sal trooper and the other clone from wave three. No others were there. I also saw they had the lego torrent and it looked good. Wish I could afford to collect the lego line. They also had the new titainiums and I saw two of the new comic packs out (the ones with the Mandos), but the comic packs were really dinged. Glad I have an ace in the hole for those thanks to my frosty friend.  Looks like they are down to three big falcons and two atte's and they are ready for a reset.  I also didn't see any of the twenty dollar ships. Sure hope I see some new ones including the Awing. Think that is all. Oh, I saw new waves of GIJoe at all my stores. Major Blood?

my local wal-mart hasn't shown anything new but more of the hoth speeder bike, hoth recon, and speeder bike recon battlepacks. I think they must have four each on the shelves now. I also saw my second clone wars anakin ship, but this ship and the new ones they put out were all dinged up.  I still haven't seen em put anything past wave one of legacy on the pegs. I will hit my bigger one tomorrow. They seem to do a bit better. I am also hoping they mess up and put out the FU stuff early as they did with the Clone Wars three packs that one year. I think I just about bought them out of those three packs that year. I thought my wife would kill me when she was that bill! I was kinda out of control back then. Ah, the good ole days.

Yeah, I am a lot more selective now. On that note, I just called my bigger walmart as child "issue" kept me from going today. They checked the floor for me and didn't see em, stockers being as good as they are. I hope they looked. The electronics gal didnt even know what I was talking about and said they would be with the toys. I had to explain to her that sometimes when they do dvd or game exclusives that they may set them in the electronics section. I bet they won't be out till Tuesday.

Well it was a bust for me today. I called my better walmart and they don't have the force unleashed three packs out yet. They figure they will have em out by Thursday. Maybe I am not meant to have this force unleashed stuff! Between the basic figure wave, the rancor, and now this I think I am jinxed! I also called my two local gamestops who are now out of the stormy commanders. I really didnt want to spend 40 bucks just to get the figure anyhow. Perhaps they will release this one later down the road in the basic figure line. I also called my bow shop and the owner didn't even know I had dropped off my bow!  :'( Looks like no hunting for Tamer tonight either!

not particularly Greg. There is always tomorrow though. The wife is going for a routine doctor appointment so I am having her stop for a look see on the force unleashed sets. I am not too worried though, walmart stuff I can find. As far as my bow, the owner is working on it as I am typing this.  I hope I get good news there too.

Well I didn't find the new FU packs yet which I found out was due to space in the SW section as they have all the space covered. Wave 2 of the Clone Wars made an appearance! I was able to pick up a clone pilot for me and a black sbdroid for my frosty buddy. Going out again on Sunday hoping more are to be found. They also had the clean versions of the CW  Rex and CW trooper, but I passed on those. I like my troopers dirty!

Well I came home empty handed again. My stores are just too packed with stuff now for them to set newer stuff out. I did see some of the newer ships and now there are two of the CW anakin's modified jsf on the shelf. Speaking of shelf I did notice they put the shelves back up top so I bet we are about due to see a Fall reset soon. There were lots of the Hoth recon bp left and I did see that the falcons were marked down to 129 smackers on an endcap at the bigger walmart I have. I sure did hope to see the 32 dollar price tag on em though.  I am still looking for the FU sets as my larger walmart still hasnt set em out yet, but it is just a matter of time and patience.  I am not known for either though.  I also didn't see any more of the CW wave two. I had hoped to see more of those on the pegs, but it looks like just a few more legacy wave 3 were set out.

Well still more of the same for my stores. Still no Force Unleashed three packs and no new sign of CW Wave two. I did see a new reset of the twenty dollar range ships and I really liked the packaging of the Clone Wars Vader's Tie, but as I have two in the box I passed. It was nice to see two of the Clone Wars Anakin's Modified JSF on the shelf too. GI joe had a reset too, Hiss tanks, figures, madd packs were there. It is sad they raised the price on these figs.

Well I still haven't found anything to bring home. Still no walmart force unleashed three packs, I am beginning to wonder if these have slipped by my stores, but who knows. I am seeing new resets of the twenty dollars ships. I think the vader ship in the clone wars box looks good, but like I said I have two previous version so I passed. I also really like the looks of Anakin's modified jsf, but have one and there are at least two each on the shelf at each of my walmarts. There are so many comic packs that I don't think I will be seeing any of the newer waves for awhile. If my stores are any indications of the comics success I think we can safely assume this might be the last multiple wave format for those. I just don't think they are selling well enough, at least in my stores anyhow. I am also starting to think that Yarna is starting to be a peg warmer in my area. Not that I don't like her, I picked up one, but I am wonderng hasbro's sense on this one as what kid wants to play with that large a gal? I also counted at my larger walmart over fourty two tac legends sandtroopers. They have a separate peg system for me and they don't seem to be selling any of em.

There is a ton of GI Joe stuff. I saw the Snake eyes vs. storm shadow comic pack where storm shadow has the compound bow and man that looks good. I was liking the purple bad guy wiht lt. something or other too.

Well guys I saw the Clone Wars Wave 2 figs today, but on bad cards. I also stopped by a Kohls we now have and saw em, but at ten bucks a pop if you can believe it. I am starting to wonder how long I can collect one each of hasbro's stuff at prices like that. I can realistically see them raising the basic figure price every year so we see that for a basic fig in three years. I am starting to wonder if I should change my collecting focus. I haven't decided anything for sure yet. Still, the nicer GG stuff and Sideshow stuff that is coming out in my Hoth focus has got me to thinking.

No sign of CW wave 2 here yet, but I did finally find the exclusive Wal-Mart 501st Clone Trooper today.

good score Rune. Have you seen the FU 3 packs yet?

No sign of those yet, I did find part of CW Wave 2, I found Cody and Oddball.

Well I did finally see the Awing and gunship today. the Awing was an easy pass, but thank the maker the gunships were horribly creased and dinged. I don't think I could have passed otherwise. No sign of the newer waves of figs though. Man there are plenty of the Indy 3 packs out there too. I also am seeing plenty of HISS tanks Phatty!
Title: Re: The Woods of West Virginia

Yeah, I've been seeing the HISS tank a lot recently, along with the Rattler and Conquest, all of which are hard to pass up!  I still haven't opened my Gunship yet, but mostly because my SW room is completely in disarray until my walls and carpet get repaired by the Insurance!  Get that Gunship Tamer!

Well my first report in a bit since I changed my collecting focus.  Over the holidays I have been in my local walmart and am seeing a few of the latest clone wars offerings in ventress and the iggy looking fig. I also almost picked up the Endor BP, but the package was in horrible condition. I liked the looks fo the monastery BP too, but the clone figs just ain't doing it for me. They also had yoda and falcon sleds. Anyone who lives in snow land, has some type of hill, has gotta get at least the falcon. It really looks like it oughtta go pretty good too.

Well I finally went by the pegs again and saw they were down to just a few figures, mainly Yarna and Saga Legends Plo Kloons for some reason, but not many of them. I did see the new Obi Wan JSF that breaks apart and that looked pretty good. Still it wasn't my TESB focus and the box was dinged up a bit so I put it back.
Title: Re: The Woods of West Virginia
Post by: Tamer on February 24, 2009, 05:58:13 PM
Well I just got back from wally world. Nothing much of note, a few clone wars figures on the pges with some sage legends. The BARC trooper looked good with that big ole gun. I did see the new Vos Faie comic pack and boy are those comic packs getting expensive. These used to be a pretty good deal for two figs, but not anymore it seems. There were lots of CW Annie's JSF and Obi wan JSF, blue one and newer ones that splits into two parts. I also saw Jabba's dancers and band pack on clearance for nine bucks, which still seemed to much to me.  They still had two revell snap tite vader's ties for nine bucks too. They way Clint is reviewing models I almost bought one.

Nah, I had better skip it. I still have a large AMT brand flight display Vader's tie to build, one of these days.
That's another collection for me to display, My stack of unbuilt SW model kits.

Well the hunt is on for the ESB wave, but I have come up empty so far. I did see Wave 5 Legacy finally hit my home and cloer wally world. Still didn't see the new ships. They did have some new comic packs with the Bothan and that looked pretty cool. Lots of mighty muggs or whatever you call em. The Han didn't look too bad. I also saw some neat SW posters, the same ones that Clint showed us or described. I really liked that one with the faces. Wish they would do one like that with all imperials in it. I think they have a similar one with vehicles I would like to find. Lots of Wolverine figs on the pegs. I finally saw some Marvel Figs too, the Powerfist and Cyclops. There were lots of X-Men Movie Wolverine Figs too of all kinds and a kind of cartoony looking series too. Wow, they are making a ton of figs of him right now.

All in all the only thing I came home with were two paperbacks; a Halo book and a Terminator Salvation Prequel book. I figure Serg might have that one.

Well I havent seen much since the ESB Legacy wave at my smaller walmart. I hit my bigger one this past weekend and it only had the previous Legacy Wave and some Saga legends. I should have picked up that legends snowtroop I saw. It was the first one I have seen on the pegs. There were lots of aotc clones, the only color I didn't see was blue. They had that Yellow big gun shooting clontrooper too.  I havent seen a new ship on the shelves in awhile. There were just a few of the new obi wan aotc jsfers.

Well I hit my local Wallyworld today and came up empty. I didn't see the new ships yet and it looks like they are making my SW section smaller in preparation for the Transformers movie. I did see some of the older battlepacks including the Hoth Scout patrol one. I picked it up, but I have two already. I am looking to score a few more Hothy rebel figs. The stocker head said they are putting our more stuff on Tuesday so I might swing by before I head out.

Well I hit my local wally world today and saw they had done a reset. The pegs were full of the new saga legends on the new cards. If you are a momc collector you are gonna hate the new cards. The flaps on both the upper and lower left ends were bent like the dickens. I don't know if it was a stocking or a packing issue, but am eager to see the shape the cards are in for the rest of you so I can figure out if it is a packing rather than a stocker issue. I saw they had set out another ESB wave, but someone beat me to the hoth soldiers I was after. They did have the ugnaughts, but they weren't the second release we have been waiting for. I also saw a couple CW Rex's if anyone is wanting any of those for customs. They had tons of comic packs on the pegs and I saw a few of the newer Galactic Heroes two packs with the red lettering with still quite a few of the blue lettered ones. I passed the atat driver and Veers after holding it for a couple of minutes. There were tons of Transformer figures on the pegs and absolutely no Joe figs. They had one Baroness and that was it. I didn't see any of the newer ships yet either. Heck, I haven't seen the magnagaurd fighter or the vulture droid yet, let alone that new republic tank. Think thats it.

Well I sent my wife hunting for me today as I am kinda still feeling under the weather and I promised to go get an Assaj. Well she was gone daggone it, but she called and asked, "What are these evolution thingies?" I sighed and told her I sure would like those, but they are not TESB so I had her put em down. Looks like the new wal mart two packs are in too as well as new packaged Clone Wars figs. She said she liked the "vomit" trooper. I said it was ARF, not Barf! My wife needs a daggone terminology class! I guess I won't whine too much, she did go look through the aisle while I was home working on here.

It was the first Rex and Cody I have seen in ages. The only one I didn't see was Gree. I also didn't see the new evolutions, but the single carded figs were full. I can always return em if you find em in your forays. I am also banging my head trying to find Assaj now as she was there every week and when I try to tell KRI I can find one she disappears! Well I thought I had hit paydirt on the TESB variants as I finally saw the Phantom Menace Legacy wave in the old packaging. I saw a Hoth Trooper and Ugnaught but they were the old versions. I pretty much saw all the new basic figs out there. The Clone Wars Clones are looking pretty daggone nice if they were only just a tad beefier.

I also saw all versions of the new Evolutions and man did those two Imperial packs almost come home. I really like the look of the red helmet Clone Pilot and the Imperial Commando. Boy those looked good. Clint, let me know on that pilot pack as they had quite a few of em and I think that was one you just got on ebay, but wish I had figured out they still had em. They had lots of all the new ships on the shelf too including the Octopus Droid. This walmart was smaller and they didn't have the bigger ships like the Ywing and ARC.

There were tons of new Joe figs on the pegs too, but as I had a small gal with me, I didn't look real close.

Well I can finally add something to this thread! I found a few new things today. Looked like the new Clone Wars wave was there including those new Freeco speeders and Dooku's speederbike which I thought looked cool. There were also some what I am thinking are new titaniums with the Hounds Tooth, Dengar's Punisher, a black shadow gunship, and another regular version. Glad I don't collect em as I would have brought home a ton of em! That Punisher looked cool. I also saw and did pick up the new atst. They have about eight left as I recall. I still haven't seen any of the new bps yet. So no Dewbacks came home. There were a ton of new Clone Wars two packs though. I thought they were done? Still tons of evo sets there. I am hoping these go on clearance and I will probably bring home that Imperial Pilot and new RC pack. Man, they finally got the Ywing and the Turbo tank too. Those turbo tank boxes were mint too. I will have one of those too if I can find a half off like the atte deal. It was a decent day.

Dang, how far of a drive would that be from Richmond? I need that Clone Wars wave BAD, and we are seeing zero progress around here. I assume you scored those at a Walmart? Well done!

Lets see, I use to go that way on my way to Bragg. Too daggone long for a wave. There is another option though, I do know how to go to the post office and am not adverse to sending em to you.  Pm me and let me know which ones those are and I am probably gonna head back down there no later than Thursday of this week if not earlier.  The wave I saw was the one with the newer Padme in it. Is that the one? I am so behind in the Clone Wars waves as I don't collect those.

Thanks, but as of lunchtime today I am all set. :)

Picked up all 4 Wave 7 TCW at one of the outlying Walmarts. I am totally caught up on figs now!

Well, I guess I am gonna have to venture up to the bigger walmart about 45 minutes away as my local one has all thier toys stacked up the cieling in boxes in the lawn and garden center. I see tons of em say SW too. The pegs don't have squat! There are tons of old vehicles and figs and I bet they don't open a single new box. I am gonna go talk with the managar mid week if I still seem em stacked like that. Geesh!

Here is the toy section at my local walmart in the daggone lawn and garden center!
One thing I noticed over the summer as they left all the clearance toys out there was that there were about five or so V-19 Torrent Lego SF and they had extensive water damage. I was gonna ask about getting them at better than thier clearance price (40 dollars). Low and behold today they were back in the main Lego Section at the regular price, water damage and all. Needless to say none of the new toys saw thier boxes opened today. It was way to busy for me to go find the manager. I just took a quick pic and want and got a cheeseburger.

That seems excessive for a black Friday stock up. Too bad that Walmart doesn't have the dcpi option like target.

Well, I ventured to my larger store after the snow melted a bit and see my Saturday run, if the weather had cooperated, would probably have netted me my ESB wave. There were tons of new figs all over the place including that new Cody and I saw the ROTJ wave plus so many CW figs they were sitting out on a big pallet in the aisle with another pallet full of legends figs. I only saw one Bespin Security figure on a bent card so I left it. Major bummer. I might need some help guys.

I did see every new bp out there including that Rishi Moon BP everyone was talking about. I agree with Pat, the Gelagrub looks like heck imo. It was nice to see that Endor one though. Still, the highlight of the trip had to be my 3 year old daughter commenting on the jedi training on Degobah when she said, "Daddy, thats not Darth Vader". Ofcourse it was Vader so I asked her why and she said that Vader has a red lightsaber and this one didn't look red to her. Daggone, I think I am winning the SW battle. I must admit a tear did come to the ole Tamer's eye to see that my daughter knows the correct saber for a figure. Hasbro, if she can do it, why can't you?

So, nothing new, but it looks like snow and ice again tomorrow. Everyone was in wally world buying up the tp and bread. That is the best forecaster there is. I hope to try a bigger run to VA this weekend, but who knows what the weather will do.

Well its official, I am gonna need some help on the ESB wave. I went on a larger run to toysrus all the way to VA and didn't bring home a new figure. The only new one I did see was a McIggy and he was all torn up. It was a major bummer. I almost bought one of the target big wing ties, but the boxes were pretty screwed up. I went to Target to try my luck and came home with a fabriche Yoda and couldn't find the tree topper. Oh, I did come home with the new Imperial Commando novel though.  Thats a lot of driving for a book and an xmas ornament though.

Thanks Clint. Looks like I gotta take another run early tomorrow am to find a my little pony amusement park so who knows maybe I will get lucky. I have to head to  Altoona, PA to a toysrus that is the only place in three hours with it, if they still have it as they won't set the daggone thing back so I can be sure to get it. Oh well, I would go through hell for my little gal so I can go on a wild goosechase if need be. Ofcoures momma is stronly encouraging me to go to so I will see if there are anly walmarts or targets near and see what they have. It really is a lousy time to try and find toys if you think about it.  I am gonna needs lots of help on this one I know.
Title: Re: The Woods of West Virginia
Post by: Tamer on December 13, 2009, 05:00:03 PM
Ok, I think I am calmed down enough now to write about my Altoona, PA trip. Well, my little girl wants a my little pony amusement park which is a toysrus exclusive so we went to our closest store yesterday only to find out they didn't have any more and they had tons of em just a few months ago. Anyhow, my wife gets on the phone and calls every toysrus in the surrounding four hour area and finds one store that has one of these left at midnight yesterday. So, I got directions and went on a road trip this morning and it started out great. The store opened at 7am and I went right to the spot and they still had one so I was psyched. I even got her a Godzilla so she doesnt get too many girly presents. Anyhow, I decided to visit a the local walmart and target hoping to find the few things I was looking for yesterday. I didn't find squat, but did meet a policeman who was nuts for Star Wars and told me about his collection and his ebay collecting and selling. He also knew of a better store to visit that wasn't as picked over. Ofcourse I told him about our place and hope he shows up here, but I didn't find a thing. I did see boba, but his card had issues so I gave him to the officer.

Now the interesting part, while I was shopping the weather was fine. Well as soon as I hit the interstate home I ran into an ice storm and guys I am lucky I am writing this. I saw cars turned up on thier roofs and one thier sides wrapped around trees and I know someone's folks didn't come home from thier shopping trip today. The sad part was the ambulances I saw couldn't even get anywhere after they braved the icy roads to pick up those in accidents. I actually slid to a stop as one ran into a gardrail in front of me. I was able to push him out so he could get on his way while there was some serious work going on inside.  I can't even count the number of accidents I saw on 99 South. It was awful.  Thank God about 12 noon it warmed up to 33 degrees and rained so it melted off the ice or I would have still been up there. I haven't been as nerve wracked on a drive in awhile. I can handle any amount of snow, but ice gets to me.

I have never seen so many accidents in such a short time span and being so helpless to do anything about it. It was just too icy to get any help to them. The ambulances were wrecking into things. I know one thing, there needs to be ambulances that have better suspension and four wheel drive with a plow and some salt systems on em.  When the snowplows with salt spreaders showed up the damage was over. They had the roads ready in about a few minutes.  I just hope those folks lived. Ole Pat would have been busy there today if he could have gotten to them. I sure don't put anything past EMTs. They have a hard job. The ones I saw in action today were something.

Well I was finally able to bring home two figures from the ESB wave today those being Luke Skywalker pilot and Willrow Hood. I also saw the bespin security guard and that concept snowtrooper, but they were on such mangled cards I left em. I sure did look hard through the rest of the pegs to see if I could find anymore, but once again I was a step behind. The sad thing is my local walmart has bumped figure price back up to 7.64. It was at least nice to see some newer figs at my closer walmart. I am gonna be able to visit another rural walmart tomorrow so I hope to score a few more.

Well my local Wal-Mart looks like heck. I had to repack what basic figures there were and there wasn't any sign of the new ESB wave there. I did see Cad Bane, but most were legends and even older blue cards. I even saw a first issue Yarna. There were some O droids and Ywings, but I couldnt find a daggone scan thing so I could check the price on those. I did venture into the lawn and garden under roof section and saw some toys on clearance. The only SW items were the evolution pilot sets, both the Imperial and Rebel versions and I just couldn't pass em up anymore. I did see a Joe Night Raven on clearance from 40 to 20 bucks, but not much else of note other than that imaginenext ultrasauras on sale for half off. My little gal came home with one of those earlier in the week. She loves it. It is kinda neat with all the walking, roaring, and led lighting up. Makes me wonder why we can get a SW vehicle like that.

The sad thing is all those toy boxes in the outside tarp roof section at that walmart are still there. Lord knows what water damage is being done to them and there were too many employees running around for me to do anything other than reconfirm they were still there. I don't know what they plan to do with em. I guess they will send em somewhere else? My basic figure pegs are down to just three pegs wide. I am gonna go to my bigger, better one tomorrow so I hope to find better stuff there. I so hope I don't see that turbo tank on sale for fifty bucks. I just want the esb wave and I can stop looking for a bit.

Well, I told my tale on the new purchases thread, but the new ESB wave was crushed as they stacked the packs one on top of the other. Major bummer. I did see some newer CW smaller unleashed battlepacks. They looked pretty cool. Wish I had picked up the Hoth ones I had seen a few years ago in this line. They had tons of the newer waves, just tons. There was a center display aisle covered in figs, the pegs were 10 rows deep covered in figs, there were the crushed waves behind em and one aisle over. Tons of carded figs on the pegs. I have a feeling these will go clearance they have so many. Otherwise I will not see any newer waves there till next Xmas.

I ddin't see any clearance SW other than the at-st's, but they were still maked at 43 dollars so no clearance. I did see they were getting ready to move all the clearance toys to a new section and there were tons of aisles for em. Who knows what that will turn up.

I did see the Joe big ole command center on clearance for half off. If I was a customizer I could see turning that bad boy into a SW playset and vehicle easily.

As soon as I finish my AF lineup I will try to find these and may look for them if I remember once I hit the bay. Ofcourse if you want to sell all of yours that are minty to me, well who am I to argue.

I will try to take some pics if I get back down there. It looked to me like CW Obi Wan in armor with cc and clonetroopers and droids. It was pretty long. Kinda reminded me of the packaging of that SDCC Vader with Holo Emp. a few years back.

Keep your eyes peeled for the latest wave of TCW deluxe vehicle/fig packs...they have spotted in Iowa, Minnesota, and St Louis recently, so they are slowly starting to hit.

I went to all 7 Walmarts here in the Richmond area the past 2 days and nada. Of course, today we are completely snowed in under 11 inches of the white stuff, so no hunts for awhile here.

I'm not really looking for an assist with the purchase, I'm just keen to know when they are spotted since we are so close geographically. :)

Well it was the first time I have been in my local walmart in awhile and they had some new CW figures on the pges. It looks like the Gree, Echo, Loathsome, spacetrooper wave, whatever that one is. It is the first new basic figures I have seen there in some time. They also had all of the new dlx vehicle packs except for the atart.

I will say one thing though, those new iron man figs look pretty sweet to my eyes. And did anyone notice that Micro-Head playsets for the new Iron Man movie? I keep thinking perhaps SW will get in on that hasbro action.

Well I went to my local Wal-Mart last night and found the pegs full of more Clone Wars figures, but they are the arf trooper / echo wave, whichever wave that one is. There have been no new Legacy figures there in months. There was only one anakin skiff there and the regular ships. It does look like they are expanding thier SW figure pegs while other stores seem to be narrowing them. I hope that means good things. They even had some figs combined with Iron Man figs on the opening endcap. They still haven't got the new comic packs in that store yet though.

Ah, these are the days its stinks to live in BFE. Needless to say my local wally worlds havn't even hinted at a reset yet.

So, today I drove from 12noon and I got home about seven pm to go to my not so local target. They had nothing but empty pegs. I did see some toysrus vintage figs and the cloud car and snowspeeder, but they were dinged up and I couldn't see paying way more if I can just be patient. My wife and I had a nice dinner as it was our anniversary, but I was hoping to celebrate more than that. Who am I kidding, anyone who can put up with me for twelve years is a saint!

Ok, today I got a little better news on the SW front. My local walmart has finally started doing thier reset. So far just lego stuff, but they are moving things so I will just need to start checking  every couple of days. They are smaller, but for the most part collector free so I hope to get the boba. Well everything hit today. My wally world finally had everything in. All vintage figs were taken home plus the cloud car. I got excited and made the drive to the closests toysrus and scored a walker. Target had the bps, galactic heroes walker, more figs, my snowspeeder. K-Mart, which has always been awful, actually had new figs and the Jodo Kast. I picked up the Kast. I even got a few more snowtroops and bobas and atat commanders. I figure I now have all the pops I need for my mail away boba. I wouldn't mind one more though. Anyway, my drought is over. Daggone it was nice to find some goodies as I would have hated to not have this done before CV.

Well its been almost a month since my last find and I am happy to report that I am starting to see the Silver Foil figures starting to show up. I am pretty sure for me it was just the second ROTS vintage case that came out as there was Boba, Bespin Luke, ROTS clone trooper, and Obi Pilot that was there. I didn't see any of the others.  I think I just need the Han and Vader now and all the silver foils I want will be done. I have the silver foil clone trooper up for trade for either the Han or the Darth Vader if anyone finds one of those and wants the clonetrooper. Ofcourse this one is as momc as it gets so please make sure the one I need is too. I know I am a bit anal when it comes to card condition amongst a sea of openers, so please forgive me.

They hads lots of everything else too. Camo arf trooper, Aura Sing, etc of the Clone Wars and most of the dlx sets too I think. I saw holocron hiest and another Hoth bp too. They have RC halifire droids and most of the other regular ships except for the snowspeeder. I might try to go to my larger one here tomorrow if I don't try boxing up what collection I have left.

Well, I went out to do some Xmas shopping with the wife yesterday as next week will be my annual hunting week so I will be in and out not as much, but I went to a discount warehouse called Ollie's and found a ton of aftermarket toys.

They have all of the Avatar vehicles and figures with the mechs at 13 bucks and the gunships at I think 14 dollars. I knew some good SW customs were made from those.

I also saw a few SW items like the coin vader darth vader album for eight bucks and some of the mightly muggs for six dollars. They also had some titanium ships at four bucks and had cloud cars, the virago, the hounds tooth, the rebel troop transport, and clone wars Ywings along with some ROTLArk ones too.

The biggest thing I saw was the GI Joe figures that came out before ROC at three bucks a figure. They had tons of em. I mean tons. There was also an exclusive walmart snake eyes vs. Storm shadow set that looked cool too and they had a really nice looking vinyl cased twelve inch baroness at a really cheap price too. I wasn't up on the original prices, but think they are a good bit lower. They also had the terminator salvation figures at two bucks a figure and star trek figures in the same scale at that price or lower too. The customs guys in here would really have hauled away tons of stuff as all of the figs were there.

If you have an Ollie's near you go check it out. I also was able to find the tie bomber at two walmarts yesteray, the at-rt with boil deluxe packs, and I saw the silver foil anakin skywalker and some codys that I passed on.

That ollie's sounded pretty cool. I may have to see if I have one of those here.

They had a ton of stuff customisers would be interested in.

Hey Rune, good to hear from you. Are these the Malevolence packs? If so, I found em too last weekend, but they didn't rock my world so to speak as I am not a TCW fella. I couldn't find a single new Vintage figure other than Gree and the 212th trooper. I was glad to see that his paint job, at least from what I could see on the package, didn't look as horrible as some I have seen.

I am having a horrible time finding any Joe figures now that daggone Lucasclones showed me that Longshot and Clint showed me the ones he bought. I am also looking for the Mando with speederbike, but about the only good ones I am seeing are the AT-RT ones. I am also waiting to see the new Thor line which looks promising for SW custom fodder.

I bet my wallyworld are trying to put out old product and sell it for new prices. They are probably mixing just a bit of the new product with all of those old dvd packs. Gonna have to check that out this week.

We had a snow day on Monday so I stopped by my smaller wally world and they had something new. This is the first time I have seen this one. The box was beat to heck as the pictures will show.

They had more of what I am calling the ANH Wave with the R5 astromech and Deathstar Luke and the Gree. Still no Jangos or Joe figs daggone it.

LOL. To be honest I had to sneak this puppy off the SW aisle as the toy stocker was eyeballing me wierd and as my little gal spends her time in said aisles she wanted to take the picture once she found out what I was doing.  She did pretty good. She also shot the last tube video for me, not bad for a four year old! I am trying to get her hooked into this hobby every little way I can.

I did set it back in the SW Section after this pic. It might still be there. Does anyone want it beat up like that? Twenty six bucks is the going rates on the SW vehicles now. It was there with the hyena bomber.

I have a feeling it may still be there. My local wally world is in the sticks and doesn't get picked over much. It is nice if new stuff comes in, but then I have to wait months more before I get new stuff in again.

They also had the new Cad Bane Wave, except for R7, and the Hondo repack, didn't get any of them.

Well I actually have a couple things to report.

First, there are still remnants of the ANH wave and the Death Star Escape Luke and the R5 were still there. I am thinking someone wanted a DSE Luke, but couldn't remember who. Pm me if you were the person and I will try to pick it up if you like.

I also saw the Hevy wave for the first time. There were three Hevys on the pegs, I also liked the Obi, Ani with space helmet, bane with todo, mace windu, and the SBD. I also saw a Saga Legends Apartment Jango and it has been awhile since I have seen that one on the pegs.

I am going out tomorrow so I plan to hopefully find something good too when I hit the larger stores.

Post by: Tamer on June 30, 2011, 07:42:14 AM
Well my wife is now furniture shopping so I have been using it as an excuse to look at some stores outside of the regular ones I hit for new SW product. Sadly, other than a slightly mangled Jango Fett, I didn't see much other than a good bit of the AOTC wave. I wasn't even aware they were releasing that again.

Anyhow I did actually see some Joe figures I have never seen before in the form of the Crocodile guy, Flamethrower (the colors on this guy are awesome, Halo Jumper, and Cobra Shock Trooper. I wasn't sure if anyone was intrested in any of those so I left em on the pegs. They also had Beachhead, snake eyes, and storm shadow. These new Joes look good to me.

Now where in the world the new Vintage Wave or the new TCW wave is I have no idea, but I guess it was something.
Title: Re: The Woods of West Virginia
Post by: Tamer on July 16, 2011, 06:36:33 PM
Well, my wife and I went to see our first movie together since last year so I took a few minutes to pop into the super Wal-Mart and fye that were a part of the mall the theatre was in. No luck. The Wally World had more of the same AOTC Wave and daggone that is like the fourth store I have seen it restocked. I am thinking the stores must be putting out inventory based on peg space and that perhaps they do have the new goodies, but are only putting out the AFs based on previous cases they have in storage. If thats the case it is gonna be stinking for me for a long time. I also took the time to see if there were any new Joes or CA figs and came up empty there too. I know one thing, I don't know what they are gonna do with all the yellow helmed stormies, rots clones, and the twotwelve clones but they are using up over half of my peg space. It stinks. That might be a good question for Hasbro.

The FYE actually had new figures on the pegs, but they weren't from wave seven. It was the AT-RT Clone Trooper Wave, whichever one that was. It was still nice to see they have restocked again so I have another store to at least look. I hate the tags on the back of the cards, but at least they aren't on the front. At only a dollar above Wal-Mart now, I could easily see me getting some from there and taking that tag off. I appreciate Paul from JTA to putting me onto that particular store btw. I swear I have never seen the pegs so clogged with useless SW items and the drought of new goodies is as bad as I have ever seen it.

I did see that Hasbro has created their own line of Lagos that they are calling Kre-O and that they have some neat looking transformers out in that line up. The Optimus Prime was very cool and it makes me wonder if they are planning on making a run at the Star Wars line eventually. It would only make sense, but then again its Hasbro we are talking about. I hope your store searches have been more fruitful and I thank the Yarders who are looking for that elusive Bespin Han and Fordo for me. It is beginning to look like you folks are my only hope and I ain’t trying to sound like Leia!

Rune, I agree. I did see a few of the earlier vintage wave show up (wave that included Ackbar), but other than that it has been very dry. I haven't seen a new TCW figure in ages. Thank the maker for the Yarders or I wouldn't have squat.

Well I was doing some Xmas shopping with my daughter last night and saw the newer ROTJ Wave hit my local Wal-Mart. I picked up a few of the RFTs for a bud and left the rest including the revenge card Boba Fetts, Endor Camo Coat Han, Tie Pilot, Slave Leia, etc. I didn't seen the Bespin Hans or Fordos in this wave though. I swear I will never see a Fordo in the wild.

I didn't spy much else other than an awesome looking desert deco Captain America. I will admit I thought that one looked pretty daggone good. No new JOEs, but I hope to get around this weekend.

Yepper, I have seen them all too I think. I picked up Vos, Sidious, Maul, and a TCW Phase II Trooper for a couple friends and left the rest there.

That coupon was nice for half price off those too.

That TCW Trooper three pack looked good too, really liked the look of the bomb squad trooper. It was nice to see new vehicles too.

Well I finally saw the Discover the Force Figures, but passed on em (liked the Yellow R5 Unit though), but did see the walmart exclusive naboo starship astro four packs so I got those for a Yarder. I did see a few Episode I Vintage Figures including Amidala and Quinlan Vos, but left em on the pegs.

There was a decent TCW Figure on the pegs. Gonna have to go back to my other store. Saw my first fighter pod packs and my little girl called em SW Squinkies to which I had to agree. She didn't like em much, I didn't either!

They had the regular vehicles there too, but nothing doing as there weren't any TESB on the docet.

Good to see new SW Items in the store though. I also did see the Walmart Exclusive Marvel BP on clearance for 17 bucks if that is clearance. Sometimes my walmarts just put a red sticker on em and don't change the price.
Title: Re: The Woods of West Virginia

Well I actually went to the store looking for a twenty foot long computer speaker cable for work and went by the SW Pegs and found a few TCW Figures in the form of some Phase II Clones for a Shipyarder. I was surprised to see all the Yellow Mauls gone and ofcourse the Chewbacca I saw a couple days earlier was gone, but I was surprised to see a Vintage Fordo so I grabbed it. I never saw on in the wild before. There were the DTF Figures and that Yellow Astro (C8 something or other) looks good to me. They also had a bunch of vintage boxed vehilces in the form of the Torrent, Obi's JSF, and the AT-AP. For some reason seeing them in a vintage box doesn't feel right, but perhaps thats just me.

I didn't notice too much else as it was a pretty quick trip, but I did see the JOE sign back up so I went to look and saw they were full of ROC Figures! And all of them at full retail price. I guess they are going to try and unload them again now that Retaliation is coming around. It is making me believe my local store is actually saving all these figures they don't sell somewhere in the back. Its no wonder I don't see too much new most of the time. I also did see they had some TCW Obis and Legends Obis on the clearance rack too. I was gonna say they have them for $3.90, but my stores never do clearance well.

I plan to go back to look sometime soon too so who knows, maybe I can add to this even more.

I have one word to describe my SW Finds from my home state through MD all the way to DE: Nothing!

Well, I did finally see the Republic Sub with Clone, but other than picking up some Darth Vader Earbuds (wow they fit nice) I didn't see a single figure worth picking up. There was just TPM Wave and not a whole lot of that. From K-Marts to Wal-Marts to everything in between all the stores had at least two cases worth of figure space and that is a minimum estimate. It was really sad. I came home to my local store to see nothing on it too. I had heard perhaps some Wally Worlds were getting new waves, but it sure wasn't any of mine.

Might go out in the middle of the week, but that is only because I need to pick up about twelve feet of once inch pvc pipe to start building my costume mannequin. I don't remember ever seeing it this bad.

Well I went to see Prometheus today and took the trip to stop by another Wally World near me. There was nothing but Episode 1 Vintage Pegwarmers, full of Obis and Qui-gons. Almost no TCW and older Movie Heroes. They were actually using some of the basic figure space for those daggone little transformers. They had a ton of vehicles, but no new ones and all at full price. Same story for JOE and Avengers. Now this is the coup de grace: I was in Lawn and Garden and saw some clearance figures; there were over 15 Obis and 12 Anakins to be had (TCW, Vintage, and Legacy Lines). I am gonna start chanting no more Obis and Anis here real soon although folks told me the new Vintage TCW Anakin was pretty good. Geesh, I am not sure I have ever seen it this bad.

Well I missed the Tarkin Wave. I am thinking that Shae Vizsla and Galen Marek were in that one and the VC93 Vader I want. Oh well, they still did have Tarkin and the Clone Pilot and Wedge Pilot (first one of those I have seen). That Tarkin was in my hand for about two seconds as he just looked bad to me.

There were still a few Resolution JOES and a bunch of ROC Figures at full price. Geesh.

I still haven't seen an Avengers Widow for my little girl, but I did see new ML in the from of Grey Hulk and others from that wave. So a little drizzle that sure won't end my drought.

Well I drove to my farther away larger Wal-Mart today in the mall. Still the same old TPM Pegwarmers with empty pegs for at least two cases worth of figues. They must have had about ten vulture droids and dewbacks clogging up the vehicle places too.

I also hit FYE and didn't see anything new. Their newest figure was the Vintage Rebel Commando. I am not sure how many waves back that was, but it was a few!

My larger store was so dismal today I took a few phone pics (please forgive the awful quality but its just my junk phone). This first pic is the main pegs with mainly no vintage and nothing but movie heroes junk:

And here is the clearance section with all those Obis and Anis that Hasbro says just must be produced for each new line up. Look at these Hasbro and tell me we need more of the same!

There was an ARFer in there for 8 bucks (not really clearance imo), but those hero figures are just killing my pegs.

About the only good note was I saw that Thundercats are now on clearance at my Wally World for five dollars a figure and everything (vehicles, armor, etc.) was marked down. Give me a yell if anyone wants any custom fodder.

Well I made an extended run yesterday as we had to get an oil change at the dealership. We had a couple of hours to spare so I had the rare chance to hit Kmart and wow was this a nice store. It was the best one I was ever in. I think they had more toys than toysrus and spaced and shelved well. I came home with the new Vintage AT-ST. No two packs though. I also found a Marvel Black Widow there and my girls scarfed that one up (had a long talk with her momma about articulation much to my delight) and I saw all of the Avengers Figs. First time ever. This store also had some awesome looking HALO Stuff that would make awesome dio material too. Just a ton of stuff in this store and I will definitely be going there again.

Between Toysrus and Target I saw the Battle of Bespin BP I have been after in addition to the Lost Line Leia with was unpunched. So it was a pretty good day. Not much JOE stuff, a few Renegades and Retaliaton figures.

Top that off with a surprise run in with one of my hunting friends (just about gave him what for as this crazy person was behind us honking their daggone horn) and lunch at Olive Garden and dinner at Red Lobster (hey it was Hobbit Second Breakfasts Day) it was a great day.

All of em were TCW, but I never saw any of those figures on the pegs. I didn't see any regular figures on these packs, but they did have some Marvel Versions too. Not really much else though.

Well, not much new to report on the regular brick and mortar storefronts. I did see a Dark Ninja and two Cobra Troopers at my larger wally world. Left em as  I wasn't sure anyone needed them. Nothing really of note other than new TMNT Figures.

I did get to Ollies as my daughter had to pick up a bday present for a friend's bday party and saw that they had some IM2, Green Latern, Deluxe Thor, Deluxe Captain America, and Generator Rex Figures. If you can believe it some of those Rex Figures were as low as two bucks a pop. And oh yeah, the fighter pods are there too for around a dollar something. If I could have figured out if any of em were the AT-AT Driver I might have bit but there was no way to tell that I could see.

Also in their book section they had a huge SW Chronological dates, droids, and aliens factbook compilation for ten bucks. I didn't get one but probably will before the summer is over. It is a heavy thing.

Well I will give you the good news first. This is how my day ended today:

This is what we give the box design

This is how I felt after finally getting my hands on it

As you can see it is just minty case fresh

I just love the vintage nods everywhere

Now for the rest of the story. Well my daughter had a specialist appointment early this morning so I got up around 3:30am which means out the door for us at 5am. I ended up walking back through my door again just a little before 9:30pm. Wow, what I won't go through for a walker. I must admit the real reason for the trip was my daughter's doctor appointment, but even having said that it only took about five hours to get that done. The rest was in search of a toyrus non damaged item.

Ok so the only toyrus on the route was about three hours back towards where we came from so no problem. I called first, they said they had one and so once we got back on the road we went straight through. The parking lot was empty for the most part so I strolled down to the SW Aisle and found the one smashed under the bottom shelf with the front of the box crushed beyond all recognition. At that point a store employee asked me if I needed any help. I said, "I want to find the tool that crushed the life out of this box as that is the only reason some joker like me will pay $130 for it!" I must have walked back into the aisle half a dozen times trying to talk myself into taking it, but no dice. So, time for some food. I checked the next store with the dcpi up the road two hours only to find out they aren't allowed to carry it. And yes, I asked why they weren't allowed to carry their own stores' exclusive to dead silence. I was starting to loose patience I must admit (long day on the road). She came back quickly and said our next store down the road has two on the floor. I  called the store and they said yes and that one looked "good".

Well that store was two more hours away from that one, but my wife knew I would drive her nuts so after we ate away we went through a funnel cloud! I have never seen one before till now. Luckily I don't think it did anything beyond that but a bruiser of a storm was blowing through, but I haven't checked yet. At that point I thought perhaps a higher power was trying to tell me to lay off the walker. Still I got past that and halfway there till the storm caught back up with us and then I got lost in the torrential downpour trying to find the store, but I did find it. I think the look on my face when I walked through the door white knuckled was enough to scare Hades himself as the store manager greeted me. He didn't even asked who I was he just pointed to the walker. It was perfect. I swear the downpour stopped and the sun came out as I pulled out my expired 20 percent coupon and they said, we will honor that. And the rain held off long enough for me to get it in the trunk. And I mean just long enough. All in all I am chalking this up as a win.

On a more serious note, I am finding it horrible that toysrus employees are either damaging these by literally force feeding them into their existing shelf displays or in the case of the better toysrus they are using cables with the theft prevention device and that is causing them to be moved by grabbing the cables which ofcourse is gouging the boxes. There was a 250 dollar falcon that was in even worse shape than the one rotj walker they had left. It was just a travesty to see those vintage boxes damaged through sheer negligence. Now I know I am something of a carded eccentric, but seriously. This is a lot of cash to dole out and many are getting it for the nostalgia it brings to us from out Kenner days of old. I have to admit I am seriously worried how Amazon is going to do with the Slave I.

I am writing this while its still fresh and I am very tired so please forgive the spelling and grammatical errors till I revisit this tomorrow.

here Shawn beguiles us with a tale worthy of the oldest holy text in the world, the Indian Mahabharata   in this tale our hero "Shawn" overcomes all adversity to claim his prize no not the princess Jelli  but a prize more awesome than the Ark of the Covernant ,more powerful than the Spear of Destiny and more sought after than the Holy Grail  yes folks you guessed it ,a pristine ROTJ AT-AT , on this journey he fought thru momentous squalls ,fought the ineptitude of the guardians of the temple TOYSRUS to find a sight that chilled his soul and brought forth the angry speaking of tongues (yes some idiot had squashed the box) but he continued his quest for the one artifact that could quell the yearning in his very being and finally in another temple of TOYSRUS not populated by twats he claimed his prize and the heavens parted and the light of the lord shone down upon this brave knight and his prize .and so our brave hero returned to his family and together they rode home in their faithful horseless carriage  ..for once again the world was at peace............

stay turned as next week we find our hero in the throes of madness and fury and consumed by waves of hellfire  brought on when he discovers  ....he's run out of socks.....

Jay, you cracked me and my family up this morning. My daughter wants to know what twats are now, but thank you.

Wow... most epic toy run ever!!! Congrats Shawn!!!

I have never been on one quite like this. As my wife said though, it was better than spending another whole day going to look for it. I really have to credit her and my little gal with the patience to deal with me when I get on a roll like this.

Thanks Spry, never did a store run like that one before. Kinda hope I don't have too again. I would hate to push my luck with funnel clouds twice.

Actually about three hours with the roads I have, but yes it would be doable. I intend to get out there and if nothing else just troop, but my daughter has surgery that is happening tomorrow so I doubt I will make it. I could sure use a positive SW pick me up experience after staking out Hasbro all week only to miss that exclusive Fett. I am feeling pretty sorry for myself now.

Well I do have something to report. We drove a few hours to see my daughter's surgeon today and she checked out good so we decided to do a bit of back to school shopping which meant I got to hit a few stores we don't have back home like Target and K-Mart. It seems to me like all the stores were putting out new toys, just not much SW yet. I watched Target bring out everything but SW in the couple hours we were buying school stuff. Walmart didn't have anything except 14 TPM Obi-Wans and Qui Gonns.

K-mart was the one bright spot with me finally seeing the new saga legends and that new shampoo bottle anakin to vader thing. I could see there were some ten dollar pegs for the three and three quarter black, but either they were already all gone or they weren't set out yet. So there is some new SW Life in WV after all! Hopefully it will just be a matter or a few days or a week at most till we see some of the rest of the Black Line hitting our stores.

I am also getting ready to take a small trip to Lancaster, PA soon so I will have a report for there too. I want to see the new black line!

Found a few figures from The Black Series Waves 2 and 3 at Wal-Mart today, but no Plagueis. :(

Got Vizam and a 2nd Meru Meru to use as a generic wookiee warrior, they also had Luminara Unduli and the Stormtrooper.

Well thats good news. So far for me in my neck of the woods they haven't gotten in anything past wave one. I saw a ton of Biggs and Anakins yesterday. Not sure I will ever get to see any of the subsequent waves with pegs this full. :P

Been awhile since I had anything to report from a local store. I am doing most, if not all, of my shopping online now. I did see my local wally world reset the turtles. That Squirrel looking one and Casey Jones and what not. Neat stuff. Still no new SW figures. I did go by the TJ Maxx in the mall and saw they had some MTTs at fourty bucks. Probably should have bought one.

The sad thing is my wally worlds are down to just a couple pegs for SW Figures and my one store has em all plugged with biggs and anakins. Its gonna be a long time till I see new stuff there.

I am sorta kicking myself for not getting one of em. Still, as large as that one is and since I only collect TESB it just didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

I'm convinced the price will be lower, saw the same thing happen in both Marvel and Joe.  I think Hasbro overestimated demand due to the fact they weren't anticipating the PO'ed fans who fled in droves LOL.

I can't believe I am just now finding time to post this, but Walmart has now become a Mecca for most of the newer figures. I saw, between what I call my two local stores, four six inch Stormtroopers on the pegs and the newer JP larger size figures (Ezra, TIE Pilot, Scout Trooper, Chewbacca) and the Black Series Wave that has Pablo Jill. Command Series is all over the place too.

Hopefully the newer three and three quarter waves and later six inch waves will show up.

Wow, six years since I posted here. Has it really been that long since I really found stuff at brick and mortar stores?!

Well anyhew, I had to go to Wal Mart yesterday and I rolled by the toy pegs real quick. It has been the first time since March that I have done this. Here is what I found on the Star Wars front:

I did see two vintage figures on the pegs (K2SO and Luke in ST Disguise). They did have a few six inch figures (Hoth Trooper, TIE Pilot, Lando) and I saw the Chewbacca in that new line (looked animated). Not really much to see for the figures though.

This is what really stopped me in my tracks though. Talk about some serious toy nostalgia. I loved this line when I was a kid. I almost got one of each:

I didn't even know a new He-Man Line was coming out. These look exactly like they did back on the pegs in the 80s! I was so tempted.

Great to see you back in store, Tamer! But taking the current situation seriously and being cautious was the best choice. Don't know what to think about this Mission Fleet. It's like Funko's POP! series: doesn't appeal to me at all and will save me hundreds of dollars, again! But at least the kids got something to play with right? I found myself spending my money on LEGO instead of Hasbro which I never thought could happen. I mean the figures don't look that bad and hopefully appeal to kids. I mean Hasbro (and LEGO too) keeps telling us that kids drive the brand - so let's hope they'll spend their pocket money on these toys to keep the brand alive rather than buying more V-bucks for Fortnite...

That MOTU series looks awesome! So great to read that it made you feel nostalgic! A good friend of mine grew up in the 80's and says - like many others - it was the best time to be a kid back then!
So many other great lines out there, but I cannot collect 'em all.

Thanks so much for the store report! So there were no TVC or even TBS at Walmart?!
Times truly have changed for STAR WARS merch...good job Di$ney!

My larger store was so dismal today I took a few phone pics (please forgive the awful quality but its just my junk phone). This first pic is the main pegs with mainly no vintage and nothing but movie heroes junk:

I wish I had taken pictures of my meijer store in Michigan back when I was an exchange student in 2010-2011. Pegs were full with TVC and SOTDS Saga Legends plus Clone Wars figures...to me it was the peak of collecting 3.75" figures. Only problem back then was to not have won the lottery.
Usually I tool my $20 phone from RadioShack to the store which didn't have a camera. But I also had an iPod touch and I wonder why I just didn't have the clue to take pictures to stare at years later...damn!

I guess I will have to get back into stores now that they are supposedly doing away with all the crazy pre-orders. Maybe. Pretty easy to just get what I want from BBTS or EE.
