Title: spuda's customs 2 (update: older ahsoka )
Post by: spudafett on September 21, 2010, 11:14:15 PM
Since my previous figure thread got so long... This is my second one.

and leave it to me to start this thread with a crazy new mando custom...

currently he's just a WIP.  so far I've got it worked out that he's a Mando.  He's been injured by a jedi in the past (hence the mechanical legs) and he seeks revenge and retribution on all jedi for his disfigurement.  He has specially custom made armor that is made of cortosis metal which is impervious to lightsabre blades!!  He also keeps the sabres of the jedi he's killed as trophies, his most prized trophy hangs on his belt and belongs to the jedi which cut off his legs...

I'm not finished with him yet... it's so funny about forums... here you guys all said you liked the feet, the other forum I posted it on didn't like the grevious legs and feet. lol.

wattoh the bronze color is probably not what I finish it with so you won't be coppying anything.  Right now he is unpainted and un-finished so I've got to decide on a color scheme on it.

I figure this guy would be semi-force sensitive so that way he'd be able to wield a lightsabre more evenly against jedi... maybe he has some sith training?  maybe I'll paint him up with sith tats?

I would like to think the artists on here know how to appreciate imagination as well as great fan fiction and we don't necassarily think a person has to stick to straight SW to achieve that. Still the Grievous legs I think would make a great fear factor addition and help continue the legend of General Grievous.
Title: Re: spuda's customs 2 (1st update: mando: jedi hunter)
Post by: spudafett on September 22, 2010, 03:13:45 PM
to be completely honest I used the grevious feet mainly because the new grevious' legs are sculpted with a joe style double knee joint that just happens to fit PERFECTLY into the lower knee joint from a joe leg.  It was a simple transfer to the new legs by popping out the lower peg in the grevious leg and reinserting it into the lower peg hole of the joe's knee...

were I to use more "human" like lower legs from a star wars figure that uses the swivel-peg knee joints then the process would be much more tedious...

that and I also think the legs have a "fear factor" about them... they are quite menacing.

shamed by a jedi who dismembered him instead of killing him he is fitted with cybernetic legs and trained in the teachings of the dark side... he regains his honor by killing the jedi who maimed him and took the jedi's lightsabre as his first, of many, trophy sabres.

Spud, I love it! You are being completely yourself starting a new custom thread with a killer mando. I like the idea of a maimed mando out for revenge but like the idea of a force-bearing mando even better. The Maul-ish tat paint apps to his skin bring it over the top for me. This one deserves a front page story and I will probably do that tonight after I get home from work.

Sweet!! But I don't think Luke would get his  butt kicked that easy...but maybe he would by this guy!

he was the only jedi figure I had on hand that I havn't completely dismembered....

and thanks alot clint.  I had originally had a maul head on this figure but felt that it looked too much like the "cyber maul" that was in the EU comic pack and decided to go with a human head... but I still realy liked the sith tat's and thought it'd be a fun figure to test out if I could paint anything even remotely similar.  The tat's on the underarm parts came out looking kinda crappy but luckilly for the most part you won't see those! lol

Master Fett, sorry to be a bit late to the party but Mate! Mate, Mate Mate!!!! just the cloak on it's own is a thing of wonderment and beauty. The choice of parts, the custom paint job make this latest figure one of my Spuda favourites...

You earned the Front Page inclusion and then some! The pace has definitely been stepped up!

I was a skeptical when I saw the "wip" pic cause the Grievous legs looked a bit oversized for the figure but the  final result looks perfect.
Spud this is a really good custom figure especially the "weathered metal" parts (legs and chest armour) are absolutely amazing.

great job

there was no comic.  This is an original character....  it just happens to look alot like the cyborg maul figure, that was unintentional.

Cool custom, but if he is a Mando Jedi Hunter, then why does he have Sith tattooing?

The custom turned from being a simple "mando who hunts jedi" into more of a "sith trained mandalorian"...  hence the tats.  That and they looked cooler.  :P

alrighty... been a while since I've worked on an actual star wars custom but I've got a couple in the works so I'm going to put up a wip shot of the one that is most close to being completed.

I'm re-visiting my "desert mando" and using my jodo-skywalker bashed figure to do so.

so here is the basic figure with the paintwork I've gotten done so far:

there is alot of stuff that goes with him and the resulting figure almost rivals my western mando in style... I'd be tempted to call this figure "south-western" or "tex-mex" mando...
you'll see what I mean when I post finished photos...

ok here is the finished product:

to answer some questions first though, the new antenae are made from two strait pins with the ends broken off.  I had a range finder at the top of them but it just didn't work with the accessories I added to the figure.

enjoy:

Oh Spud, that is awesome! This is a great modern western look. The combination of parts for the helmet, scarf and hat really blow me away! Great idea cutting chips out of the hat brim.  The paint looks good but I would dremel and sand the yellow hard plastic at the shoulder joint then paint to match. I absolutly love this figure and am asking permision to try something like this guy for my collection.  That being said the only thig I am not estatic with is the transition from the upper to lower legs, the lowers are a bit too skiney. Last is the untouched ammo bag  that is all black. Hook that bag up with some paint and weather it and this guy will be off the charts of awesomeness!
Title: Re: spuda's customs 2 (update: desert mando 2)
Post by: spudafett on November 13, 2010, 08:11:30 AM
good suggestions LS.  I plan on sanding down the shoulder joints a bit and trying to get rid of the rubbing issue there.... it's just that I hate sanding.  I usually do it by hand as I have a tendancy to slip with the dremel's sanding drum.

the bag was a last minute addition that I threw on after I was done painting... your right it would look better with some weathering and different colors.

I chipped the hat-brim and changed the silver to gold to try and make it look less like bane's hat, glad the effect worked.

you know I hadn't noticed the skinyness of the legs until you mentioned it.  It realy isn't that noticable in hand, the images realy make it apparent though.

btw, as always, I post my customs in hopes that it inspires ideas in other customizers... so by all means make your own version!  I'd love to see it!

Sounds cool Spud. Don't use the sanding drum on the shoulder use the smal round bit it does the job quicky with just a few passes back and forth. Since you have painted already I would tape the rest of the shoulder leaving the yellow swivel exposed. This way if you slip it will just tear the tape.  You are right the thin lower legs ar minimal but this is an almost perfect custom to me and just thought I would throw it out there. Seriously near perfect, the only thing that is barely off for me is the lower legs. I really like this guy!

super articulated Quinlan Voss.

I bought a Voss figure from the flea market for around 2 bucks a few weeks ago, he didn't have a lightsabre or any accessories but I liked the character so I grabbed him.   I believe he is from one of the comic packs...

the original figure was very lacking in articulation.  The only thing he had below the swivel waist were swivel hips.  This of course had to be changed.

I toyed with the idea of just using the head and belt but wound up going an entirely new direction with this one.   I removed his old hips and legs and hollowed out the rubbery torso that was left.  I then took a resolute cobra commander and sanded down his lower torso to fit up inside the hollowed voss.  This gave me somewhat of a ball joint in the torso as well as ball jointed joe style hips.

this is what I finished up with:

in this image below you can see the hip replacement that is going on beneath his robes and belt:

Good work!  Without the belt/robe-tails, the waist looks too small for the torso, but hey - we can't get *that* precise in small scales!  Once the belt/robe-tails go on, it looks absolutely right-on!

well, that's my biggest issue with this atm actually.  I was originally thinking about completely rebuilding a figure for voss out of nothing but joe parts and only using the head of the original voss figure.  What I thought I'd do would be to create a set of loose, soft goods robes that would fit around the figure's torso and not hinder the movement of the legs at all, which I still very well may do because I'm NOT satisfied with the movement of the legs, they are hindered by the belt and robe ends.

What I thought I'd do is trim off the sculpted rubber robe ends on the belt piece and then make soft good's versions of them...  something similar to the way the newest qui-gon is done.

You know that happens to me quiet often too the articulation with the clones or jedi. Usually the plastic on the star wars fig is to thick and doesnt allow for alot of range in motion I too am thinking of using soft goods to eliminate this problem great custom by the way!!

I run into this all the time.  rubbery kama's, robe ends, or trenchcoats especially.  Soft goods flow with the figure's poses much better.

I'm actually looking at using the iron man 2 nick fury's trench coat (which is soft goods) as a template to sew together my own soft goods trenchcoats... If they work good enough I hope to make them easy to re-create.

I agree but a soft goods version would be cool.  That's one I'd like to work on myself.  Can't wait to see if you get one going.

I believe I'll be using a qui-gon as a base for it if I re-do this figure... it just doesn't have that finished feel to it that I need out of my system!

also... have I been misspelling his name?

If you can find a cheap fabric that won't fray when you cut it then you should be able to easily make your own soft goods for the jedi at least.  The problem is finding fabric that doesn't fray out badly.

Young Boba:

trimmed his hair to allow the fitting of the jango helmet, then repainted the entire figure.

the most current version of young boba (the one I used above) is already super arty!  the only thing that is missing is the mid-torso ball joint, it currently has a swivel waist above the belt.  But for me that's not to big of a deal at all.  Hasbro actually got this figure right as far as basic construction goes IMHO.   I just think they could have designed a more "classic" mini-armor for his breastplate instead of that partial "training armor" (as i've been calling it).

I also think that they could have picked a better color scheme... one that was closer to the boba we know and love... or even holiday special colors (e-gad!)

Spud this is an awesome update! Embo is one of my favorite characters from the CW and I love the modded legs. That being said, the Boba's steal steal the show! I love your repaints! The older CW version was/is great but I am floored by the repainted young Boba! Great touch glueing on the pockets! The paint work looks great as well. You did an awesome job trimming his hair to fit the bucket as it is barely noticable. Well done! Now I need to find these new figures so I can make a young Boba with proper colors.

Thanks everyone for the excellent replies.  when I saw this figure I knew I had to get several and do a few simple repaints and maybe even more with them!

Hangarbay:  Thanks for that compliment, I do believe that my figures have taken a leap as far as painting.  I've always said (and been told) that paint apps on a figure can make or break it.  I have had several figs in the past that I believed were amazingly constructed, but then I F-ed up the paint on them either by not taking my time or not choosing a good color scheme...   I think the "teen boba" (CW mando repaint) that I did for the repaint challenge realy caused me to pay more attention to the fine details.

That being said I still see flaws in this newest young boba repaint... the grey paint is rubbing at the joints and is rubbing off other places.  But I guess I'm my own worst critic!

My next project is to use this little boba to make a movie accurate boba with a set of removable mando armor that is more "movie-verse" accurate.  I like the litte removable set of armor that came with this figure but it's not a full breastplate and that looks weird to me.  I plan on cutting up an old classic boba figure and using it to make the armor as well as shoulder pads, and add gauntlets too.

is the belt removable ?

with a little bit of work the belt IS removable.  the belt is glued into the back of the waist via a small peg on the belt with a matching socket in the back of the figure's waist.  The leg loops are free to be pulled off down the legs but you have to work the glued in peg on the back of the belt itself out before being able to slip it off.

When I took it off to paint the figure I just made a small exacto knife cut right at the middle of the back of the belt, this allowed me to more easilly work out the glued in peg and more easilly slip off the belt.  When I finished painting it I just put the belt back on and re-glued it in place so that it wouldn't come back apart.

Title: Re: spuda's customs 2 (update: young boba)
Post by: spudafett on December 21, 2010, 10:18:18 AM
this started out as just another in my series of mandos... I've done Ice, Water, Desert, Stealth, Etc... but have never successfully done a very good forest or cammo mandalorian armor...

Inspired by Jedi-wolf's wookie hunter mandos I finally started work on my own jungle mandos.   Since jediwolf's main wookie hunter mando is a re-paint (basically) of the new jungle commando duke, and I realy loved the bare-armed look to the figure I wanted that same jungle commando feel to my figure.

so I started working with the jungle duke figure and wound up ONLY using his legs, kit bashing them (plus a ton of other crap) onto a POC zartan torso...

 this is what resulted:

interestingly enough as soon as I'd started this project, with no knowledge of the project a friend of mine called me up wanting me to do a cammo version of the young boba fett figure.  So as soon as I finished my figure I started on his and snapped a few shots of them together as "father and son" before I took the young boba to my friend.

my friend wanted the young boba to re-card... so I went a different direction with the helmet.  I didn't make it removable and left the boba head unaltered.  Instead the helmet is a solid alternate head, just remove boba's and pop on the helmet version and voila.  Since this will all be recarded into a bubble the helmet will just sit to the side of the figure anyway.

and with this project I've come to realize WHY I've put off doing a jungle mando for so long... I HATE PAINTING CAMMO.  It never looks as good as I hope for when it's finished!  Truthfully I don't particularly care for the way the young boba turned out, however my friend was realy impressed and loved it, and that I guess, is all that matters...

added gauntlets (hollowed out and trimmed down a set from jango), repainted helmet to match, cape, and I rebuilt the details of the jet-pack (added larger missile, and side mounted nozzles instead of bottom mounted).

there are some mistakes... I accidentally used the wrong shade of green to correct some errors on the top of the helmet... somethign I didn't notice until the photos!..  the flexible helmet was dificult to keep paint secure and in taking it on and off after the paint dried it warped some of the thicker areas (mainly the yellow).
Paint rub on the joints, knees and elbows mainly are still an issue.

despite those flaws I'm still realy proud of the way this one turned out. I also think he looks a ton better with the gauntlets and corrected jet-pack.

Seriously BAD-@$$ jungle mando!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  What head is that?  Recondo?

Great work on those young Boba's, too.  I agree with you on camo patterns - that's pretty much why I stopped building 1/35-scale models.  The old 6-color "chocolate chip" desert pattern camo was the only one I feel like I ever got right.

Now you got me thinking about casting a pair of Jango arms for making smaller gauntlets...  gee, thanks!  ;)  ;D

it is recondo.

good luck casting the gauntlets... What I've done for my casted gauntlets never worked 100% in the past and is why I just used existing stock ones that I modified to this purpose.

Before I casted a set of solid fore-arms with the gauntlets sculpted on and then just glued them in place for the final figure.  This is what I did to make the gauntlets on my Ice Mando figure a while back.

I really like all three new additions, especially the new alterations to the first version boba fett with the realistic helmet and gauntlets and soft good cloak. Sweet. Not that I think it needs it, but the only thing you could possibly do to make this one better is some type of gloves to slip on over his hands. I think it looks good the way it is though.

I like the Jungle Mando. What I wouldn't give to see a group of them battling some Predators or Aliens (neat crossover don't you think?) and I would love to see that young boba recard when it gets done.

thanks everyone for your comments.
I'll definately make sure to get photos of the young cammo bobba once my buddy get's it re-carded.  I'm not sure if he's going to do and custom card art for it or not... I hope he does!

he gave me several figures to work on for him and only gave me very loose ideas for them... he wanted me to do a "mustafar" inspired "lava cammo" mandalorian...  He also said to try a similar idea out on a clone trooper.

In all he gave me 4 clone troopers to use as base figures to re-paint and customize for him.  One of which was "payment" for me to keep.

I've got plans to re-paint one of them using a mix of techniques that I've never tried before so I hope it works and is something he will like...

so expect to see some more interesting figures come up in here the next couple days!

also remember that I have a non-star wars thread going down in the "miscellaneous customs" section, I posted a few things a while back that idk if everyone has seen yet.

The camo scheme doesn't look bad at all.
What size of brush did you use? Maybe a smaller brush like a size 2/0 will help you achieve a crisper camo.

first attempt at a loose request given to me by a friend to make him a "mustafar inspired trooper"

I went with a "shock trooper" mixed with a shadow trooper style blending... I think it works well but it's just not perfect yet.

I'm thinking about  mixing up some clear red and silver  and using my spray gun to quickly spritz the mix from below the figure... hopefully adding a "glow" to the shaddows of the figure..........  I'll let you guys know how it works out...

I am liking the red and black. I do agree another color too perhaps. I wonder if outlining where black meets red or vice versa would look good in another color? Still, hate to mess up what is now a good looking figure. I am also seeing the TRON blue glow or red glow type effect with a blacklight that would just look killer.

UV or black light action would be sweet on something like this... unfortunately the person I'm working on this project for is the same that I did the jungle cammo boba for and I believe he'll be wanting to re-card them and won't be able to display them permenantly under a black light...

and...

I have yet to find black light reactive paint that is reasonably priced (or that I'd use enough of before it dries out!).

I'm going to do a few computer based photo-shops of some of the ideas I have for another color scheme or pattern and then have my friend who asked for these look at the ideas (as well as yall of course) to decide on the direction I'll take the other blank trooper he gave me.

Well Spud, here's what I think: I think you should paint the whole thing with a grey paint, weathering/marbling with black touches. Then find a metallic red paint pen to create the lava infusions. Or, paint the entire thing with a red metallic paint and wash it with the grey and black. I can't wait to see how this comes along though!

yup.  base coat of flatt black and then a custom mixture of clear red, silver and clear gloss for the first layer of "lava cracks" then a custom mixture of yellow, clear gloss and silver for the finishing of each line (making sure not to completely cover the entire red lines) and then seal it all with clear gloss spray paint.

I've got two more clones I need to customize and I'm out of ideas.  My friend runs a toy booth at the local flea-market and he is wanting to sell some customs so he gave me several figures to work on.  He said do something simple with them, mainly re-paints and part swaps as he wants to re-card them as well.

He gave me the basic Idea of a "lava trooper" which I've already tried to come up with something for... but I need ideas for my other clones.

I'm thinking about doing a desert clone trooper, a pre-curser to the sandtrooper I guess...  But I need other basic ideas.

anyone want to throw something out there that you'd like to see done?  it can be as simple as "urban camo", I just need ideas to trigger the creative process! lol I've customizers block.

If you want to go really simple you can just make a "dirty" clone. If he has a removeable helmet you can paint the bottom half of his hair grey and make him an older Sergeant clone. Or maybe do a Geonosis camo scheme. A simple way would be to copy the flamethrower clone or go more complex with the ARF trooper camo pattern. Good luck and I hope I was some kind of help.

Good grief I have been away for too long and the Spud has been on a run! All the way back to the Boba improvements, I am flored by the gauntlets, cape and helmet! Your creations are taking another step up with all of these. I know you have said before sometimes you mess up when it comes to the paint but you must have really taken your time with these as they look perfect! Sorry it took me so long to comment but all of these are top shelf customs!

Title: Re: spuda's customs 2 (update: LAVA trooper )
Post by: spudafett on January 03, 2011, 06:11:21 PM
what started as a concept for an early phase sand-trooper turned into this:

the desert clone:

this figure was done in the course of about an hour and a half... thus the rushed and sloppy paint job.  Of course I think it works well for the figure as I didn't want to completely repaint the figure and keep the majority of it white, but make it look like he had some kind of desert specific paint scheme that was highly weathered....  so.... yeah... that's my explanation for that.
Pretty decent job for having done this at 7am. after working for 8+ hours....

Good eye my friend.  Yes the body is the quad-gunner, the backpack and shoulder pauldron are from the vintage 2010 sandtrooper, and the helmet is the vintage 2010 comander cody helmet (wich fit very tightly over the quad gunner's head and won't come back off DOH)

Yes, I do like it. Tell us about the double pauldron. Is that mad from two sandtrooper pauldrons?

the double pauldron was made from two sets of molds I have.  One pauldron was one that had the three pocket ammo bit on the left side of it and a smooth armored pad on the right shoulder.  the other pauldron I believe was from another clone trooper that did not have the ammo pack but had the ridged padding pattern all the way through the entire part.  I cut the "padded" pauldron to fit the "armored" pauldron and cut the ammo pouches off the "armored" pauldron.  Superglue to fit together permentantly and vio-la.

did any of that make sense? lol

after seeing the clone wars episode "overlords" I decided to try and make this fig.  in the episode ahsoka has a vision of her older self...

Mainly this was an experiment to create the head... then I had to figure out a decent body to put it on.

To create the older ahsoka head I took and peeled off the TCW shaak-ti's head tails.  Then trimmed ahsoka's head of all of hers until I was left with just the face and ball joint.  Once I had enough of the ahsoka head trimmed away I fit it up inside the shaak-ti's head tails and glued it in place.  I re-painted the face and I wish I hadn't because it filled in the small seperation between the face and the head tails and in some of the images you can see this....

as for the body I used shaak-ti's arms on a ventress body.  I trimmed up the sternum of ventress to remove that awkward bulge she has there...  then used sculpy to re-form the stomach.
then just re-painted the entire thing and made a new belt out of ventress' belt.

I can see that your creative funk isn't going anywhere soon, Devin. To me, she looks about spot on with what we seen last week on the show. Masterful work there, my friend. This one needs to be up in lights and I will make it so.
Title: Re: spuda's customs 2 (update: older ahsoka )
Post by: spudafett on February 02, 2011, 01:41:39 PM
actually there are a few things I took creative liberties with... in the episode the older ahsoka has a full top that is reminescent of her new outfit... I tried to take this figure back to her character's roots with the bare midriff (even though people hate that and that's why they put a full top on her new outfit...).  The belt is closer to what her new outfit has with the double banded belt and double lightsabres... however the "vision ahsoka" or older ahsoka in the episode is wearing a single band belt with a larger single banded belt beneath it... closer to what the other jedi wear....

the main thing I was trying to go for in this one was putting the longer fully mature head tails on the ahsoka head, everything else just followed.  I'm not happy with the ventress body... for one I think the neck is too long and too thin.  I tried putting sculpy around the neck to thicken it up but when I tried putting the head back on the ball joint it caused the soft neck to flex and break off the hard sculpy.... so I abandoned that.

I'm glad you guys like this.  I might re-visit this figure later if I can find a more suitable body.

Devin when I watched that episode I thought that i would love to have a figure of the older Ashoka and that the guys on the Yards would make one.  I just didn't know you would have it that fast.  The ep. isn't even a week old.  I may try this now that you have paved the way ahead.  Very creative techniques!!

thanks for the kind words everyone, I know I havn't been putting out as many star wars customs as of late but it's nice to get the praise again. :P lol.  that's why I love it here.

in response to lucasclones, I know as soon as I saw the episode I was going to be making this figure... in fact I already had most of the recipee in my head before the episode was over... then of course I worked night shift friday night and mulled over it all night, hit wal-mart as soon as I got off work and bought the ventress figure I needed to complete the recipee and got to work as soon as I got home.  A few hours into it I had the figure basically done, I had to wait for the sculpey to cure and solidify before painting so that took the longest time.  I finished the paint work on monday and was finished putting it together...  It only took me this long to post it because my camera broke and I had to buy a new one!

which... by the way I am loving!  I bought a nice point-n-shoot canon that has a 35x zoom on it and incredible optics and settings, hopefully my figures will realy start to shine.  you can realy see the difference in the new and old camera in my "misc. customs" thread in the other section.  I retook shots of my space armor iron man with the new camera and the difference is amazing!

Like your figures don't shine already..............The camera sounds cool, buddy. I did see those space armor shots and I can see a difference.

thanks everyone for the possitive comments.  I realy didn't expect them on this one.  For me I see all the imperfections in it...

I've got a small vehicle display project started that I think everyone will flip out over for sure if I can pull it off the way I want... I won't give away any details but it will have to do with my favorite star wars vehicles that I collect.....
so keep an eye out for that this coming week in my vehicle section and here as I work on the accompanying figures.

I wish I had seen the episode

Check out a website called megavideo.com, they have all of cartoon network's stuff. I just did a google search and found it last week. I bet they have the newest one up already too.

I was hoping we would see a few more visions of older Ahsoka, but I guess not. Still, this was a great figure.

I came *this close* to snagging a TCW Shaak Ti today.  But I passed in favor of three older fig's that were marked down to $4.50.  But I'll be in the store again later this week...

That's amazing!  I love it!  Too bad I don't still have the figure, but I'll fwrd this to the current owner of the fig, I'm sure he'll love it too!

It's just as I'd imagined the setting too! Great job, I love the background.  Given the chance I'll probably be making another one of these, I loved the look of this figure so much... perhaps though I'll make him a mandalorian instead?  that'd be cool.....

thanks for the custom graphic, that was a nice surprise this morning.

Here's a bit of news for you guys though,  since my thread has gotten kicked back up I thought I'd let everyone know that I'll be taking a leave of absence from customizing for the next 4-5 months.   Not by choice, but rather by necessity.

You see... I've been accepted to an internship position at Fossil Butte National Monument in Wyoming.  It's a long way from my Kentucky home and there's just no way to justify bringing out all my customizing supplies during the trip!  So don't expect to see any customs popping up in my thread...
And if you don't see me posting as much that's also why.  I'll have intermittent internet capabilities most likely and will probably be limited during most of my time there so I may not be on the forum much, if at all.  If you do need to get a message to me, those of you who have me on FB, that'd probably be the best way...

Hopefully I'll be able to get on everynow and then so I don't loose complete track of what's going on (like I can realy keep track of things here as it is right now!) but I promise when the internship is over I'll be back to my customizing self!

Hey, you should try to get a pic or two sent this way as a possible background for someone.  A fossil could go well with some.  Anyway, good luck with your internship.

If your interested in what types of fossils I'll be working with here is a link to Fossil Butte Nation Monument's NPS homepage:
http://www.nps.gov/fobu/index.htm
check out their gallery of fish fossils... and if you interested in those types of fossils do a google image search for "eocene fish fossils" and you'll come up with tons of great images.

And older Ahsoka looks very nice indeed. Is that entire body (except the arms) Ventress'? Love those legs, man, they could work really well for an alternate TFU Shaak Ti. You know, the one in the white boots.

thanks guys.  I don't get alot of online time so it's hard to keep up with things here.  I know I'm missing alot of great work and I'm realy going through withdrawls from not customizing... I've been keeping busy with small projects I brought along like my oil painting and a few bone carvings I've been working on... but the tattoo is the first star wars related thing I've done in months!

Incom it's been so long since I did that ahsoka figure I actually had to go back and look at it to refresh my memory!  yes it is entirely the ventress body, the only thing on the figure that's not ventress is the head, which was a combo of ahsoka and shaak-ti.  I did have to trim the sternum off of ventress and re-sculpt the mid torso to make it look less like ventress' strange emaciated body type...
