In 1999 Lucas Arts and Total Games released what was to be the final game in the X-Wing Series. Released to critical acclaim X-Wing Alliance followed the fortunes of a young pilot named Ace and his family the Azzameens as they become embroiled in the Galactic Civil War.
In tribute to what is possibly the best Star Wars game ever made, I present X-Wing Allianc, The Web-comic....

Folks, as there are so many new members posting here it is silly me adding a new post with every new chapter, so I've consolidatedthe lot into one post. This is where the entire novel will be posted along with theTech Library and Work In Progress artwork, which will feature on the 1st post.
Regulars who know my work should be able to follow this and I hope that any new reader will be able to check back through in order to catch up. Saying that, each new chapter is a mission in itself, so it should also be very easy to just hop into the story at any given point.
I really hope you enjoy my work, and any comments are always very welcome....

Ah Jules, another great chapter indeed. Jax and I enjoyed it very much, exciting seeing that bounty hunter come into play. The visuals are very stimulating as usual. Thanks for another amazing instalment and love seeing it all together here.

WOW. Reading that was just amazing. And, I love how all the chapters are located in one post, I just spent the last 45 minutes reading all 4 chapters with my children.
I don't know who was more excited- them or me. My son is just crazy about Emkay. He thinks that is the greatest droid ever, bad-guy parts to make a good-guy, his 5 year
old brain is spinning! My daughter loved the first 2 chapters, but wanted more of the "girl pilot", and wanted to know if she'd be back. I told her yes.(Please don't make me a
liar.)
The production of this photo-novel is simply incredible...The scene with Eamon in the cockpit of his ship before leaving for target practice...the shadowing of his face is just
fantastic.
My favorite line was in chapter 4, after the space battle, the casino announces "Andrasta! You've outstayed your welcome..." Just classic.
Please, take your time producing chapter 5. I need to go to the bookstore to buy a thesaurus to learn new words for awesome.

Thank you so much for that positive reply to my post. Getting feedback like that is just awesome.
Please tell your daughter that Aeron (the girl) makes plenty of appearences in the story, in fact she plays a crucial role in the defeat of the Pirate Clans and the Viraxo.... She's also appearing in the next chapter.

Man I love that cockpit shot! and all the details/thinks in the room, very cool. I like the bed that is now visable in the back cubby hole. I see the little hand pointing at the text for what MK is saying, very funny. Great way to convey what is going on with the email messages, nice touch. Thanks again for this sweet update and exclusive content.

awesome Jules what a great build up!! just a quick question... when you plan out each chapter do you have a set amount of panels per chapter or do you wing it as the story flows?

The number of panels is not planned. I was originally planning on making each chapter correspond with the missions of the game, Mision 1 is chapter 1 and so on, but as I have been going I felt that the story needs some cliff hangers. Also I don't really want chapters to be too long as I want this to be a serial, somthing that's updated on a more regular basis than most other Photonovels, most of which never get further than the first few chapters. Chapter V could have been twice as long, but as I was putting it together last night this seemed to be the perfect point to stop and take a breather.
I've got one more chapter before things really start hotting up...I think the game has over 40 missions, and we are only ony on mission 3, so by my calculations you've got another 16 years of this!!! At least it keeps me out of trouble!
I'm secretly hoping that as time goes on more people will read this, and maybe, just maybe, Lucas Arts will make a new X-Wing game.

HB, sorry I haven't responded sooner I was actually busy with your other project....(Have you slept or eaten in the last 24 hours? How are you able to do all that you do?)
First, I wanted to comment on how great it was to find Ace's e-mail, that was such a cool easter egg!!!! My favorite was the on titled " An offer you shouldn't refuse". I assume
this is a reference to the "Godfather" movies ? Very cool.
My daughter was very pleased to see that Aeron was back.
I really love your use of the split-screen shots to convey dialogue/conversation between 2 people who do not occupy the same area.
There was 1 frame were you see the control panel lights reflecting off of Ace's face....that is such an awesome detail!
The background that you use when ships are flying, the star charts and system maps,did you create that background yourself? Did you create the 'systems' as well? I love
that particular detail. Being able to 'see the distance' traveled, is really cool. I mean we are talking about millions if not trillions of miles being covered. It gives it more
depth, than just saying they went there.
Good work can't wait to read more.

Well folks, I'm nearing completion of Chapter 6, which will be the conclusion of the games training missions. After this things start getting far more serious, and we'll be seeing some epic battles coming up!!!

What a great way to spend an evening. I am getting caught up on all the great reading. I went to the library and got a few more new books, but I haven't touched a one because the reading here in the forums is so great.
Nice job Jules. I want back and got caught up with the past few chapters at your site. The interface was nice once I figured out how to set the delay. I don't know though I think I still like it the way it is here. I would love to see this in hard print one day. That would be awesome. Thanks for sharing Chapter six with us first.

Good lord Jules, The story gets more intense as we go along as does your artistry. I don't know what to say. I really like the images where ships are flying in front of star maps in your previous chapters but those split-screen type shots in chapter 7, where you see one or two character developments happening at the same time as a ship element are just stunning. They really give a sense of high speed action where everything is happening at once.

Oh my gosh!!! thanks everyone for your most awesome comments. I also really appreciate everyone's support on this.
I have recently added the comic to a couple of Web-Comic hosting sites and it is steadily rising up the charts. Also the dedicated web site, www.xwa-webcomic.com (http://www.xwa-webcomic.com), is now getting an incredible 100+ views per day, which is really amazing, all thanks to your support.
So once again, thank you all for making this project really worthwhile, it's wonderful knowing that you are enjoying it.

I swear, Jules, this is better than the actual movies. I remember when I first saw your amazing painted BMF, and then your world famous Endor diorama..... I also remember having the pleasure of being fortunate enough to contribute to your 1st photonovel, and look at you now.
If you lived over here in the States, your bum would be soooo sore from people carrying you around on their shoulders, and your ears would be ringing from millions of Yanks chanting your name.
I can't fathom how you improve with EVERY SINGLE INSTALLMENT. You may want to get in touch with Jay, the Astromech God, and see if he can get your soul back from the Devil, as you've clearly sold it to make such masterpieces.
I've had to purchase a large monitor for my computer and mount it on the ceiling, because I keep finding myself floored by your work, and it just makes it easier to view your breathtaking artistry.
Seriously, Jules...........You should charge money to view such brilliance. It's THAT BLOODY GOOD!!!!

Jules, I am again blown away. I don't know what else to say, Barry has pretty much hit the nail on the head. I was on the edge of my seat reading this. So well done, The amazing images, the diologue between the players. You are the greatest man. When you get to the states I have a spot reserved on my shoulder for you. I would gladly march you thru the streets on my shoulders alone if that is what it takes. I even have a set of ear muffs to wear so I don't get a headache from everyone screaming your name. But seriously, we know you would need one of those Pope mobiles to parade you around in as everyone would be trying to kiss your ring and women would be wanting to have your children. No worries though, I have a crew that can handle security. What are you waiting for, you on the way over here yet? Let me know if you need my number to pick you up from the airport. Again no worries on transportation, one of my best friends owns a limo company, only the Bently's fine leather would bee good enough for you to rest your but cheecks on. Seriously, it would be a done deal!

Remember this novel takes place just as the Battle of Hoth is under-way, which is my favourite of all of the Star Wars time frames...expect to find out what happens after the battle... Alright Jules, I read through all 9 chapters while eating my dinner tonight. I have to say that you've done a superb job mate. You've captured the excitement and the story of Star Wars. Outside of a few grammatical errors the entire store is spot on and top notch.
I'm surprised someone from Lucas or Dark Horse hasn't talked you into a real gig yet.
Keep up the awesome work and I can't wait to read the next chapters.

Thanks man! Yeah, I modeled all that myself a couple of months ago while I was house sitting for my neighbor. Didnt have alot to do at the time and got to take my pc with me. I plan to rebuild the ship ..sometime...since I have a newwer more powerful machine. Concerning different angles, I searched my harddrive and those are all that I have saved. I will try to get you some head on shots- and the slight side-on looking up from underneath shot as well. Not sure when I can render these though- new job is draining all my energies at the moment- but Jules I will see what I can do.
Im glad you like it btw-the next version will sport more....logical doors on those containers, and quite a bit more detail.(I have learned alot since I started messing around with Wings3d)

Road Warrior, your images are the first time I've ever seen that transport rendered in any great detail, the in-game version has always been very poor. It's an unusual choice to work on as it is such a mundane ship in the SW Universe, it was great to finally see it in detail, awesome work my friend.

Wow! That is jaw dropping isn't it. Good thread for it as that is usually what I do here anyhow.
I like Jules' idea for doing more images like this. We have a custom art section I do believe, but do agree this is a little more than that. Hmmm.....I will have to sleep on that one, but I love having things like this to work out.
I just looked at the Battle of Hoth again. What I wouldn't give to see them add those scenes to a remake of the movie. Jules you really should have some type of SW graphic job.

Apparently, I've been charged with causing harm to dozens of people in my community, as well as quite a bit of property damage. Insurance adjusters are still tallying the severity of the damages. Since you are the one responsible for my actions, you may want to expect to be contacted by the U.S. authorities regarding what occurred today.
Alright, let's go back to the beginning.......... Earlier today, I noticed Chapter 9 had been completed, and after an hour or so of me running and jumping for joy, I prepared myself in my usual way to view your work. Ok, so now I'm strapped in with the same restraints they use to haul heavy equipment, because I'm always blown away by your comics, and this keeps me in one place.
As I began to read, the sides of my mouth began to split, from smiling (This happens each and every single time I read one of your web comics, so don't be alarmed), I found myself further and further entranced by the gripping tale that was unfolding in front of me. I was laughing at the 'bootlicker' comment, and I was hoping and praying to Jay that Green Four was going to make it, and then I was sad when he perished. Then, my heart took another turn when I saw that he didn't die for nothing, and that his message DID get through. I was on a rollercoaster of emotions, and was loving every second of it. Then, Chapter 9 was over..............
That's when my current situation began. I screamed 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Jules, I deafened every living being within a 2 mile radius of my home, or what was my home. The scream was so loud, my house was leveled. The property damages extend to a 6 mile radius, without a single piece of glass surviving.
I'm in some pretty serious trouble mate, but it is well worth it. Can't wait til Chapter 10.

Guys, I need your opinions...
What do you prefer, longer chapters or shorter ones? I ask because I'm not sure whether people just skip through the longer ones looking at the pictures. Longer chapters however allow the story to progress in far more exciting ways, whereas short ones are much easier to digest for people who just want a quick read..

WHATEVER YOU NEED TO TELL YOUR STORY, THAT'S WHAT I WANT!
(I'll stop yelling now.)
In my opinion, it's all about the story. You are telling a story in a very visually stunning way. If you can tell that story in a single frame, so be it. If it takes 100 chapters, that's fine, too. So long as the story you are telling is entertaining, I will continue to read it. And so far it is VERY entertaining!!!
However, more to read is never a bad thing.

I really love this photo-web novel! It takes a great deal of self control to not be screeching like some 14 year old girl watching a "Twilight" movie.

You could actually charge viewers to check out your work; it really is that bloody good! You are a gifted storyteller, my friend. It really is an honor to view your work. You really should be charging for this.
When the powers- that- be eventually construct The Customizers Hall of Fame, and they dedicate the main hall to you, and you actually begin to receive the respect you deserve, I will truly be satisfied. I swear, Mr. Jules, you have to be the most well rounded talent this hobby has ever seen. I mean, sure, there are the elite who can do alot of things (Figures, dios, vehicles), but who does all that PLUS some of the best photo novel work known to mankind? No one that I know, or at least not equal to your level of perfection.
There is sooo much that goes into these photo novels that many can't even begin to fathom. Story writing, computer enhancements, producing/ directing/ casting ( Seriously, you produce the sets, direct the shots and the way the story is presented, and cast the characters from various customs), set designer, lighting director, editor, and so much more.
Your work makes George Lucas look like a blithering idiot. No offense to Mr. Lucas, but you've taken his vision, and ran with it to a place that captures our imagination and tantilizes the senses. I loved your story progression. You're a bloody genius, mate.
You are my candidate for Customizer of the Decade. I challenge others to find a better person/ immortal/ saviour/ divine creator for this honor. I'm just kidding, people. Don't bother trying. It would be a waste of time. You'll never find a better candidate than our Customizing Lord and Saviour, Sir Jules of Heaven.

Gwest, R1, Spry, Wraith, Lux, thanks so much for your reply's. This project is very time consuming and I sometimes find mysefl wondering why I do it, it's not just a hobby, part of it is an ego thing, I've always been a bit of a crowd pleaser, (you should have seen me when I DJ'd in clubs and Raves, but that's another story, and another life) and knowing that there are people out there who enjoy looking at my work as such a huge buzz, even if there are only a few of you, it makes it all worthwhile.
The next chapter will see the end of the first full Episode, and will see some real drama. It will also be my 1st attempt at quite a large Space Battle, so it will possibly take a bit of time to complete, then there will be a brief interlude as I really want to get back into creating images for site members for a while.

CC, Granted I have some good ideas, and have a passion and I am also fairly proficient at using Photoshop but I am not really that talented compared to the illustrators, writers and artists who are already out there, I can only dream of being as good as some of the comic-book artists I've seen...
You have to remember that this is not an original story and a lot of the background art and almost all of the spacecraft are either images found on-line or from the game itself..I have merely tweaked, touched-up and re-arranged the images to suit.
I do appreciate your comment though, and I am also glad that you enjoy what I produce.

HB come on!!!! its just not your photoshop skills we are impressed with its the rest of your work that you do, your customs and Outstanding from scratch dios that you build for your kids as well mate, you may take images from the Web buddy and "touch them up" as you say, but what do you think the guys over at LFL web department do? they have millions of files of images at there disposal they pick one and do what you do best, if you had your hands on the stuff they have you would blow them all out of the water....

Guys it was great to see all of your comments when I cam e back home from a particularly hard day...I love you guys!!!
Seeing Stefan's great models has really motivated me to go that extra mile when working on my images for this novel/comic. I want it to be the best Star Wars comic out there and to that end each image will be far more meticulous. I want readers to be drawn into the story by the vibrancy of the artwork. I also bought a Comic Pack figure set, and in it was a copy of the 1st Edition of the Star Wars comic, that too has been an inspiration and the comic hasn't left my side since I got it a week ago.
Also more great news...Wraith9 will also be collaborating on the project by providing droid customs for Rancor Squadron...you'll find out more in a couple of chapters!

i tell you what i would love to see the Raw shots of the figures before you add them into the shots the lighting is perfect, i know you can adjust lighting in photoshop but some of these look very well planned out!! always the thinking man you are buddy!!

WOW!! what an intense chapter!! i was on the edge of my seat the whole time!! i guess my questions have been answered....
man i did not see that ending coming those Damn Clamps!!! (not familiar with the game)... so much to take in.... that crossfire scene was awesome, i had a huge smile for some reason when seeing that

Holy mother Jules! There are so many images in this that are just posters waiting to happen. From that large image of Brint-Wo Colony to the Star Destroyer images and that one with the Tie Pilot with the sights and the target of the platform. I am knumb. It would have taken me years to create close to one image of this quality, let alone the sheer number of them here. I am at a loss to express my awe and appreciation of this undertaking. It is just fantastic. Needless to say, thank you very much and I don't see how you will top this! I really liked the nebula gas type effect beside the Star Destroyer too. For the life of me I don't see how you are not working for Dark Horse or Marvel or DC or one of the online RPG places making graphics all day long. Needless to say, on the front page.

Jules, yet another smurfing great web comic. I'm gonna use the word 'smurf ' any time I would say something that may be offensive or questionable to sensitive readers.
I don't know if you've ever seen or heard of the U.S. television show that aired as a cartoon back in 1981, but the characters changed common words to ' smurf ', like your work is smurfing amazing, or I smurfed all in my pants when I see your work.....You get the idea.
I swear, my creative-loving smurf triples in size every time you put out one of these brilliant pieces of art. I nearly smurfed all over myself when I saw that you had posted new work, and it broke my smurfing heart when someone lost their life. Didn't smurfing see that coming.
All in all, I was smurfing blown away....Again!
I once dated a girl years ago, and she could really smurf a smurf, if you know what I mean. She'd let me smurf all over her smurf, and she was always eager to smurf my smurf. Holy smurfing smurf!
After a few dates with her, I noticed that she was always scratching her smurf, and then I noticed that my own smurf started itching, and even though I had contracted multiple Smurfally Transmitted Diseases from her, I still kept smurfing the smurfing smurf out of her.
Then, she said that she had a little smurf on the way, and I realized that it was time to get the smurf outta there, so I hauled smurf as far away from that smurf as I could. All I could think about the situation was "Smurf that !"
Long story short, she caught up with me, and now I'm officially smurfed in the smurf.
Love the smurfing smurf outta your work, mate.

approach of dealing with young heroes has caused
me to use this when dealing with this younger
verison of Cas-Lo Vont. whom was quite
moody and frankly easily mistaken for a
bad guy in my Sequel Trilogy series.
anyways; one can only wonder at what will
happen with the next chapters of your series.
personally i hope to see your band of heroes
have something to do with the plans of the
second Death Star. (i.e the many bothans whom die
would need a transport.)

DD, that is so weird, I was thinking of taking the story down that exact route, I even had that statement about the Bothans running through my head the other day.
It would be interesting to see the young Vont, and see where he came from. He is a mean dog of a fella with no fear, something must have made him that way.

Jules, forgive me for the late reply, I have been on vacation. I just had the pleasure of viewing this epic post for chapter 11. Tamer has taken my thoughts and transcribed them into words. There are so many cool posters waiting to be made from this chapter. The volume of work done on this chapter is mind boggling! I have no earthly idea how you have produced all these images and wrote the dialogue for these scenes so quickly. You have really hit a home run with this chapter and as others have said, if you can top this chapter I would gladly pay to see it. I was on the edje of my seat with this one.While being stunned with the images every time I would scroll down and see an even cooler one. I just can not describe how thrilling each and every image is for me. I want to create more customs from the series so they can hang out with me. Jaxon says our Ace needs an Mk to keep him company so we will see. Thankk you for making this series for everyone to enjoy. It is my favorite web comic, photo novel, whatever you put it up against. If you keep going it will be up there with the OT for me.

Wow Jules this last Chapter was mind blowing mate!!! seeing the ruthlessness of the Empire totally make you understand why the rebels are out there fighting for a cause, i too would go nuts to see a ship full of civilians (women and children) get blown to slag.... way to go Ace!!! this was a gripping episode Jules and i applaud you for doing this for little ol us....
havent been around much so im sorry if i have missed on commenting on some of the awesome work you have done the passed month.... your collaboration with Pat will be something to remember and i hope that someone out there in the licensee world see this future project and pick you guys up and do something "official"

Jules, my friend, you visual style and artwork has progressed so much over the years. I don't think there is anything you can't do graphically. Lucasfilm should hire you to create a new TV Show just like this.
