So here are the tools and materials I used to build the diorama of Mos Eisley:

List of Materials:

- hobby knifes - saved my life
- ruler - for general measurements, it's actually always good to have two of them
- metal/aluminium ruler - perfect for cutting along with a hobby knife
- set square - regular and big size to measure and draw all angles needed
- pencils
- sandpaper
- calculator - to estimate size and scale (1 meter are 5,5 cm in 1/18 scale)
- styrofoam - cheap and good to work with
- spatula/depressor

- styrofoam glue
- wood glue
- filler/screed

- sand

- plywood / medium-density fiberboard = MDF plate

I used chipboard/plywood for the base plate. The plate measures 160x110x3 cm (~63x43x1.2 inches). The base plate (~$28), the wooden strips (~$12) and the two pillars (~$60) are from a building supplies store and cost about $100.

After all strips were fixed I painted the plate in mat black:

It was a rainy weekend - the best weather for some model building!!

With a stencil the STAR WARS emblem was applied with silver paint:

The two pillars and the base plate were expensive, but I can use them for many purposes. I'm also planning on doing different dioramas on this plate like Endor, Hoth, Geonosis or Felucia.

Hello guys,

To be honesrtI am very ashamed that you are so excited about  the three pictures of my Diorama which I only could upload and post with FialaFernbrugg's help.
But thank you all so much for your kind words!

I have to say that I am disapointed of myself because the project takes too many time that I haven't got as a student of the 10th grade at a German school...so I wanted to finish this diorama of Mos Eisley as perfect as possible, but I still have to work so hard for school of course.
The first impressions I got for this project were playing the Battlefront II game of Pandemic( and I also hope that there'll be a third part of this fantastic game!!)
So after making thousands of screenshots of the Mos Eisley map I started to create a first draft of the buildings I wanted to build for the plate.
After the first buildings were done I wanted to upload the first tutorial on how to make the palte-system I invented with a good friend of mine Fabian.
Fabian and I were working on this project of Mos Eisley and we wanted to build the whole map of BFII, first!! But when we had counted the buildings of the map we decided to focus on our favorite buildings.
You see this is a very long story and I recognized that I was only talking about finishing it, soon, but I hardly found time for continueing the project...by now Fabian lost the interest to finish his part of our intended two plates...and I think his buildings are awesome, too. What I was sad about is that the color of my buildings is not similar with the color of the first styropoor glue we used so the color of three of  my four buildings is a bit too light.

So I want to say to you my friends is that I am very happy to read your reactions and comments about my work after the uploading on YouTube has failed some time ago...then fortunately I joined the incredible ShipYards and could upload the first pics of it (be sure that the state of the project has changed again by now;))
So on this point I want to thank:

FialaFernbrugg

-for all the pacience and interest you showed and for your GREAT support for the final publishment on the internet
-for your great ideas and all the appeals to continue working (and I am always missing words when I see your absolutely unique customs)...but I had to convince myself to go on working on the project although I got confused with it somehow sometime....and I also had to buy some suitable figures and accessories for it.
So thank you so much! I am proud to know you!

You can be sure that you will see further photos an pictures describing the whole story of this large project. I will finsih this dioram in the next two or three weeks when I'll have Eastern holidays for two weeks.

I am glad to welcome Fiala here to modify my dio for the last steps and to visit the JediCon2010 for the first time with him...
It will take some further time, indeed, to downsize all the pictures I took of every single step of doing this work.
You can count on me. I will show you all of them in the near future! Stay tuned for  them and may the force be with you, ever!

Yours faithfully

Fabian and I were really inspired by LucasArts/Pandemic's STAR WARS Battlefront II video game:

We actually planned on building the entire map of Mos Eisley in 1/18 scale!

I spent hours of playing this game and exploring every square-inch of this map:

Before I actually started building the diorama I made several drafts  and crafted a paper model of the four buildings:

Figures and vehicles were used as reference to make the buildings accurate and in scale:

...so here we are, finally. But what I was afraid of most was that you would lose the interest in this diorama which was a big piece of hard work so far and it is still unfinished and it still will take some time to finish it that way I thought of before...I had wanted to upload the very first steps of building this dio first and then wanted to raise the suspense from picture to picture...
Finally I'll give you some pics of it's current state because you gave me lots of requests for doing this. I have to say that there are not many pictures of it on the forum, yet and but anyway: The diorama of Mos Eisley is on the front page today....Please keep enjoying the development of completing this little village.

Before I had finished all window flaps, I already tried to bring some life to this part of Mos Eisley:

Fortunatley I found some loose metal parts on a jumble sale for a couple bucks. Many thanks to Steve (SithLord229) for sharing his great model, which really inspired me...I was of the opinion that those metal parts are quite hard to find if you want to get some suitable parts for your diorama instead of some normal bolts or hex nuts...So thank you, Steve!
Your dio looks so awesome with all the datails...

The next big problem still is to create all the furniture for all buildings...and the thing that's worst is that there are hardly examples in the original  movies...and I can say that I took millions of photos of every single scene taking place on Tatooine of episodes I, II, IV and V...but the few furniture you see is very difficult to re-construct. So I would be VERY pleased if you could help me by giving me some examples of Tatooines's tables, chairs, beds, accessories ... Thank You very much!

Darth Orvan and I already have built some of the mentioned items, but we need LOTS more...

Sorry it has taken so long for me to get here to see your dio but it is coming together nicely. I love the size of this thing! Love the removable roof revealing different rooms inside. Great plaster work and painting. As far as suggestions on filling the rooms, I would repeat some of the cantina and Jabba's Palace style of furnature. Then expand upon that with every day objects and old junk toys cobbled into new creations for cooling systems, generators, kitchen items, bedding, everything you would need in a home. This is a great project! Now my question is is all the sand loose or glued down? It looks loose...

I got some very cool new ideas for the buildings and their furniture, but I couldn't realize them, yet. On Sunday I will show you more pictures of the detailed building-steps of the diorama...you'll see the matirials, the doors! and the sand!...and I can say you that we had big problems with the doors especially with fixing tfhe sand first.
I hope you aren't bored, yet, but I really takes some time to transform all the pictures I took.
But fortunately I also took some pictures of Fabian's buildings when I visited him last week so I hope you're looking forward to seeing these pictures...

Until then...keep collecting, may the force be with You and stay healhty!

You have a new cheerleader!!

My son and I tossed around the idea of doing the same map - until we started figuring out how BIG that danged map is!!  So we are going to do like you - focus on our favorite buildings and make smaller sets - possibly that could be connected together to eventually make the full map in 3D.  Granted, we'll need my dad's 40'x60' shop - emptied - to do so.....

I'm eager to see how you guys are making the buildings!  What material are you using for the walls?

Hello back,

since I have been very busy the last months I was not able to continue working on the diorama...but now I have a five day break and started working again at Friday to do some detail I had imagined by planning the model a long time ago. The result is making me happy and you can be sure to see some pictures of the datail, soon, but I cannot say a confirmed date, yet because I have to convert all the photos I took, first, that I can upload them...
I hope that you are still interested in this diorama and I will do all possible in my way, but in beginning of June I have time, again, to finish the first plate.

Until then I will give you some older pictures and decent datails to the diorama.

Hope you still enjoy having an update on this topic and I can promise you that I want to bring this to a final end, too.
And I want to share my experience I gained by doing this model and I am sure you have some tips to improve myself so, please, leave a comment.

See you, soon, and thanks for your support.

Well, as I looked at all the pictures I need to organize, first, I noticed that they have a total size of 712 MB!! By now I have taken so many pictures of every single step that I'm able to give you some datailed tutorials in chronological order...

So here are some details of the diorama and the four buildings:

-size:  150 x 108.5 cm (59.06 x 42.72 inches)= 16.275 cm2/2.7075 m2

-material: The whole diorama is made of styropor (foamed polystyrene/styrofoam), wood, plastic and sand.

buildings: styrofoam, wood and plastic
doors: wood
furniture: wood, plastic
display board: wood

Hello back erveryone,

so today is the first day of  the 6 week summer vacation!! That means I've time for my hobby especially for my project, again...so now I start to post all pictures of the Tatooine diorama I took to show you all details of every single step...

First I will give you a look at the building's walls which are made of  styrofoam:

 1. After planning the buiding and it size you cut the wall-parts out of a plate of styrofoam. For the walls I used 19mm thick styrofoam.

2. The second step is to cut the ground and the housetop out of a sheet of wood. I used a 4mm plate for that.

3. Now you have to glue the angles of every wall part and put the building together. If you want to be able to open the buildings top later, please, DO NOT GLUE         THE  BUILDINGS'S ROOF.

4. The stability of the building is warranted after 6 hours. I used the styrofoam glue of "GENIUS Pro" for glueing the wall-parts and to paint the buildings.

Post by: Darth More on July 15, 2010, 02:52:10 AM
Then I started to build the stairs for two of the four buildings...

In the first picture you can see the gluten shortly after I brushed it on the styrofoam. The stairs are made out of styrofoam and wood.

So here are some further datails:

If you look at the picture "stairs-building D" you'll see a little hideout  for astromech droids or for any "bad" characters of the original movies like  Garindan.

Next up I will show you how I made the buildings bottom. I thought it would be best to use a piece of rubber fly-screen.
For painting the four floors I used the following colors of Revell (picture 2).

I put some adhesive tapes at the edge between wall and the screen to avoid that the paint gets on the wall.

In pictures 3 and 4 you can see how I painted the floor of building C with 381 SM.

Toaday I'll show you how I made the building's doors and the frames for them...

Let's start with a little tutorial how I made the frames:

I used a 5mm x 5mm thick staff of wood for the door frames. You can move the doors in between the frames so that you can get a figure through the entrance  into
the building (...).
The longer staffs have a length of  14cm and both shorter ones are 12cm long. The size of the doors is 12cm x 7cm so you don't see the doors from the outside when they're behind the wall...

Title: Re: Legion078's Dioramas and Models
Post by: Darth More on July 16, 2010, 03:22:19 AM
It's important that the door covers the doorway so that the door cannot fall out of the frame.

In the first picture you can see a frame with a piece of wood of the same size like the doors I made out of 2mm wood and 2 profiles which are each 1mm thick...so the doors are 4mm thick and have 1mm space between the wall and the frame because the frame's staffs are 5mm thick...That's how I made it in the past, but, indeed there are better ways to do the doorframes...

The second picture shows a door from outside the building C...

Thanks a lot guys. I am pretty honored that you like the shape I posted first, but there is still a lot to post like the 6 further door-profiles I also have done ...stay tuned for that and have a nice day.
Title: Re: Legion078's Dioramas and Models
Post by: Darth More on July 17, 2010, 06:10:26 AM
So here is a detailed look at how I build the doors. The part in the middle is a 12x6x0.2 cm piece of wood and the two pieces beside are have a size of 12x6x0.1 cm and got the individual door profile.

After cutting the profile out of the 1mm balsa wood you can glue the profiles on the middle part from both sides of the door. I used the wood glue of PONAL for glueing all wood parts...
Title: Re: Legion078's Dioramas and Models
Post by: Darth More on July 17, 2010, 07:03:09 AM
After the wood glue has dried (after about 6 hours) I painted the doors from both sides with a combination of Revell's beamless 85 and 37.
Title: Re: Legion078's Dioramas and Models
Post by: Darth More on July 17, 2010, 07:06:00 AM
...and here are some further ideas of  Tatooine's door-shapes I also made:
Title: Re: Legion078's Dioramas and Models
Post by: Darth More on July 17, 2010, 07:07:26 AM
I cut them out of paper first. Then I drawed the profile on the balsa wood and cut them out.
Title: Re: Legion078's Dioramas and Models
Post by: Darth More on July 17, 2010, 07:39:15 AM
And on the  same way you can fabricate the window shutters. I took three pieces of balsa wood so the shutters have a deepness of three mm and bruched them with the same colors of the doors (Revell's beamless 85 and 37).
Then I locked the shutters into the block-ou of the walls.

Depending on how many windows a building has you need quite a few window shutters for Tatooine buildings and preparing them all is  a bigger piece of work...

Legion078, I have to say, I am totally impressed. Your creations hark back to model making pre-plastics. My father used to build stuff like this! You have an amazing skill, thank you so much for giving us an insight into your creations. You really are a master!

Today, I will continue showing you further details of the doors and how to build the frame.

In the pictures you can see the five diffenrent door shapes I used for the diorama. For the second plate I will create some more. As soon as I will have adapted the building's wall paint I will do the door frame's shape like in the original movies and comics...

And here you see that you can move the doors in the frame perfectly, although tje frames are made out of wood...I thought of doing them out of aluminum, later, but that had not been suitable to the wood doors...

Perhaps I will  put a painted styrofoam cover on the right side of the frames so that the frame covers the door when it's opened...

In the last picture of the previous post you can see that the buidling on A2 has got a little chamber on its roof...In the pictures below you will see that it's even possible to include a door in such small buildings, too...Although you are not able to move the doors from side to side like you am at the larger frames, but you can move the doors up and down to open and to close them.

At the moment I concentrate on all the details I have planned for this diorama like the dump and the droid-trade outside or the laborious furniture inside the buildings...

Here is a little tutorial how I made the two awnings of building B2:

I used the cloak of TPM which is included in the Tatooine Accessory set of 1999. (It's a pity that Hasbro stopped producing those great accessory sets since 2002).
Title: Re: Legion078's Dioramas and Models
Post by: Darth More on July 24, 2010, 05:41:19 AM
For doing two awnings out of one cloak you need the following component parts:

-cutter-knife (a whole set available in each model making store for about 10 Euro/8$)
-cloth (e.g. Qui-Gon Jinn's cloak)
-6 toothpicks (or similar wood sticks)
-sewing cotton (accordant to the colors of the cloth you use...)
-needle (not too long)
(-)pair of scissors

First you have to cut the cloak in two halves and remove the four buttons Hasbro sewed on it.
Title: Re: Legion078's Dioramas and Models
Post by: Darth More on July 24, 2010, 06:04:36 AM
Now, you have to sew the toothpicks (or similar wood sticks) carefully onto the cloth. Please consider that there is a little part of each wood stick jutting out of the cloth so that you can sting the awning into your styrofoam wall, later.

Then you're finished with the awnings (see second picture).
Fix the single parts where you want to on the buildings...and it looks great!

FOR CHILDREN, BE CAREFUL by doing the steps I explained to you by now. When you work with sharp instruments like cutter-knifes or scissors or when you sew different parts, please, ASK YOUR PARENTS FOR HELP!! You'll see you get a great achievement together!
Title: Re: Legion078's Dioramas and Models
Post by: Darth More on July 24, 2010, 06:47:38 AM
By now I built three chairs for the U-buidling suitable to the table I made out of wood.

The chairs are made out of styrofoam and wood and are painted with Revell's beamless 84 (leatherbrown), semi gloss 381 (light brown) and semi gloss 374 (grey).
Take a look at the models of a chair I invented by myself. So the model you can see below is not an original one of the movies. By the way it's quite hard to find some furniture of the original movies. The only examples you can find in Episode I, II, IV, V and VI, but most of them are in the Cantina or in Jabba's palace.
I will do my best to build a lot of further different models of furniture suitable for a Tatooine diorama...

And I am sure you also have some ideas how they should look like and  how to build them. Let me know if you do so, please...

1. Cut out a piece of styrofoam (3x2.5x3 cm)
2. Cut three big pieces out of balsa wood (6x1x0.1 cm)
3. Cut out the little pieces of balsa wood for the decor of the chair's bottom
4. After glueing the parts together you can paint the chair(s) (I painted them in the three colors accordant to the building's floor and the table)

In the beginning of this project I was wondering if there are plants on Tatooine...Of course I read the story of Tatooine, then, on Wookiepedia. Also in the movie of Episde IV "A new Hope" you can see some smaller plants growing on the hills round Mos Eisley, but I ask myself if there are enough plants to guarantee the oxygen supply...after the Czerca Corporation had controlled most of the mines on Tatooine they left the planet, when the raw material was gone...What they left are the Sandcrawlers which were occupied by the Jawas, later...

The Tusken Raiders, Tatooine's original inhabitants, began a war with the new invaders called Rakata and even banished them from Tatooine. But the Rakata gave them a fast reaction and bombed Tatooines surface with nuclear warheads so Tatooine has been radioactively contaminated for a long time...Additionally the two suns over Tatooine dried the planet out over the next years...

If you want to read on about Tatooine history, visit Wookiepedia:

Title: Re: Legion078's Dioramas and Models
Post by: Darth More on July 24, 2010, 07:20:39 AM
But anyway, it's obvious that different plants shouldn't be missed on Tatooine...

So here is a first model of an artificial plant set in a cup of a sharpener. The cup is painted with Revell's anthracite (beamless 9).

I will go to a flower's shop the next days and will buy some further artificial desert plants...

@ Wattoh

Yes, I love Linkin Park!! Every song of them is so awesome...and I listen only to Linkin Park since 2008. My favorite song is "Somewhere I belong" of Meteora...

Linkin Park is so great and I am happy that there are a lot of LP fans here on ImperialShipyards...

They will give 12 concerts all over Europe in October this year and five of them will be here in Germany...It's a real pity that I will be abroad in the USA from August to January so I could miss them out, again...

I became a fan of them in Fall  2008 when I watched and listened to a video of AOTC Arena Showdown with FAINT in the background on YouTube. Just before I watched this and became a fan they had a concert in my area...I am still so frustrated that I missed them out.
So I hope they will give some further concerts in the US round November, December and January. Perhaps I will see them this year...

Hope you enjoy the music of LP and the memebership on Imperial Shipyards!

By the way, during my little break I took today, after posting all the pictures and tutorials, I was successfully on my hunt at REAL,-...

I found the Legacy Collection Imperial Scanning Crew member with the left arm of  HK-50 for 12,99 Euro. Since the figures are too expensive, there, I only bought one figure, but I am very happy to own him, now.
Beside the two Scanning Crew members they had Malakili, Major Panno, Queen Amidala (TPM wave), a Gungan Warrior, Clegg Holdfast (Pod Racer), Darth Sidious Hologram, a few blue-white carded TLC figures like Wioslea and some Clone Wars stuff, but, sorry, I really don't care on Clone Wars so I did not keep the figures in mind...

I will post a little astonishment, tomorrow. Stay tuned for that as a final post of this diorama. Of course I will continue working on it and I will also give you some updates of my progress...

So here we go, finally...SDCC'10 is coming to a final end...I hope you've enjoyed all the previews Hasbro displayed on this huge fair. Let's wait until Celebration V...I think Hasbro hold back some new stuff approximately coming out this year like the Landspeeder or the rest of TVC Basic Line 2010.

Well, for myself, I am really looking forward to seeing Hasbro's upcoming products selling under The new Vinatge Line, as an accurate continuance of the very well done Legacy Collection...it's a pity that the "build-a-droid line" has been stopped as well as the Comic Pack line.
The Comic Packs were perfectly suitable to release characters of Expanded Universe. I would have loved to see Kal Skirata and Walon Vao combined in one Comic Pack...

And as a little special for you, guys, I have asked Fabian to take some pictures of his buildings...

As I said he unfortunately has stopped working on them...now, he concentrates on his new hobby-Warhammer 40k-with his brother...so he stopped collecting Star Wars figures and probably will not finish his Tatooine model...

In the beginning of our work on this project, we wanted to build all building, better to say, the whole map of the Star Wars Batttlefront II map, but we soon found out that there are over 120 buildings installed on this map, so we focused our attention on our favorite buidlings of the Original Movies...

As you will see,  he has a nice living-house, which has a nice door INCLUDED in the styrofoam wall!! For me it was too chancy to do like him. Therefore I found the door-frames suitable for the buildings. Unfortunately his Tatooine living-building hasn't got a roof, yet...
Beside that he built a very accurate and nice detailed heating-building for Tatooine's cold nights to heat the buildings around and he created a massive control tower of the Hutts...

But look on the pictures on your own-it's amazing! Particulary the color of his buildings is much darker than the one of mine. That's because the styrofoam-glue we used to paint them (obviously) had a different color from bucket to bucket...Well, Fabian had luck and took the glue with just the right color for Tatooine's buildings...
Title: Re: Legion078's Dioramas and Models
Post by: Darth More on July 25, 2010, 09:18:46 AM
Fabian also built a "rock" of Tatooine dunes out of rest pieces of styrofoam and sand...Inside this rock you can find an old grave of the times long long before the Phantom Menace...

My son and I also want to do the entire Mos Eisley field from BFII, but we know we have to settle for just a few of them.  I'm also VERY interested in making "street scenes" that fit into "any-planet-ville" for my photography.  Thank you very much for the time and effort you have put into your thread here on making buildings - this is going to be *invaluable* to my bunch in the future.

Since I am temporaly not able to continue working on my main project (Mos Eisley), I wanted to give you some ideas for already discussed, but not solved problems...

First of all I would like to show you how I fixed the landing-gear of the Imperial 74-Z Speederbike. Fortunately I received my very first 74-Z Speederbike with the TLC Hoth Assault Battle Pack.

I already talked to fans complaining about the action-feature on this vehicle, but this version is not able to fall apart by pushing the button on the back, but it has open hatches on the back of the landing-gear.
I fixed the two gears with clear rubber bands included in this pack...
Title: Re: Legion078's Dioramas and Models
Post by: Darth More on September 23, 2010, 06:21:15 PM
So the Speederbike stands perfectly even with the figure sitting on it. Even when you press the front down, it flipps back in its standing position.
I love this mold and I have enough rubber-bands to fix many more...

I have been to LOWE's and Home Depot today and found some cool items, there,  so I keep on looking for siutable items to use for further projects...

...I have a new idea for a VERY cool diorama. I am going to work out the draft over the next days...Can't wait to begin working on it as soon as I return on Germany, in February. I've already collected some material for it...the next project is coming in 2011...

And of course I'll repaint my building of Tatooine with the help of a good friend of mine...

Well, yes, I am back in Germany...all the stuff I bought in the United States stored in the basement, still trying to catch up at school and reorganizing my room and the collection.

The diorama is packed in plastic bags at the moment, but there is a lot to come up on the shipyards...I have two more days off, now and I am very glad with your request I just received in my message box.

Stay tuned! I will give my best to find some time for Star Wars as well these days...

Almost 6 years have passed since the last comment was posted on this topic...

First of all, I am sorry for my long absence! I still need to complete this project. In the meantime I have worked on the walls of the buildings and modified the walls. Stay tuned for some updates, soon!

As you might know I'm currently working on this thread and replace old images from 9 years ago with images of a new format. Imgur helps a lot (Again, thanks for the advice, Tamer!).

Since this is my thread for my large dio projects, I think it's suitable to share this here:

One day I hope I'll have the time and skill to build a Cantina, too.

A couple weeks ago, I found this channel on YouTube:

The artist Agatha Vincent already built a stunning model of Ben's hut:

Double-click on the video for full screen view and enjoy:

And he's currently working on the most iconic building of Mos Eisley: The Cantina

Make sure to check out his latest WIP update, which he posted today! Take a look for yourself and please make sure to subscribe to his channel and leave likes and comments!

What he says about George and how different Disney makes movies is very true...

This picture is for Chuckles and everyone who likes to see other workbenches and places of inspiration.
I'm currently working on finishing projects I've started back in 2016! I just removed newspapers from back then from the table, which I got from IKEA for about 80€ (15€ for each leg, 20€ for the plate).

Make sure to check out Chuckles' latest projects through the hyperlink:

http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=10656.90

My problem since then was that I had to move twice. That's why there's no lamp on the table at the moment because the last one got broke on the recent move.
So I had three places to work on my projects. It would be best for me to have just one fully equipped workbench. That's what I'm installing now. The lamp I'd like to get is currently sold out. I'm also looking for an used carpet to put under and in front of the table. I might use a mat instead which is much easier to clean.

And this is what you can see in the pic:

On the left: one of the stands/steps I built for my figure shelf. Underneath is my drawer with all kinds of tools and materials. Missing here is my paint set from Citadel. Also missing on the table is my cutting mat.

In the middle: A tunnel which I started building in 2015. An awning is to be added. The walls need to be redone since I'm not happy with the texture and color, yet.
I'm also sanding those candy cans with 400 sand paper so that the primer has better retention on the plastic.

On the right: There's my Cantina Section project. It's meant to be a playset. That's why it's not movie accurate for better access. Also two walls of my Shelf Diorama are to be done, soon! Finally need to go cast some profiles for the door frames in resin. I don't cast them at home. I only make the molds here. That's why it takes so long for me to get done with the Purge Trooper and my first shelf diorama...it annoys me, too!

You can see my progress on my other projects so far here:

Shelf Diorama: Streets of Mos Eisley - A New Hope

Purge Trooper - Jedi: Fallen Order

http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=10186.105

Under the table on the right is the big box (also from IKEA) containing my Shadow Stormtrooper armor that I still need to adjust to my body size.

If you got any questions let me know!

Showing your work space is a fun idea. I don't have a dedicated space. Most of my work is done on a craft mat at the dining room table:) Some day I m8gy have a dedicated table, but my wife's sewing table has to come first. So I will remain a nomad customizer.

Post by: Darth More on November 07, 2019, 12:34:11 PM
Thanks for your comments, gentlemen!

Chuckles: Haha thanks! I think it still looks too clean for a workbench! I'm gonna change that! I try to keep it organized though.

Starchaser: I agree! And thank you! Yeah, I work at my dining table in Dresden, too. And in the kitchen. I always use my cutting mat and newspaper to cover everything up though. You are quite a gentleman. I hope your wife appreciates that. I keep my fingers crossed that both of you will have your own work table in the future! But I think we all know space is always an issue to be considered.

jkno: Thanks for your question! Yes, it is the ArtFX Commander Cody from Kotobukiya in 1/7 scale.

jkno: Yes, indeed! Do you have this 1/7 scale Cody? I got a second Commander Cody recently and can sell it to you if you want!

I'm reworking the walls of my four buildings at the moment and recently foud out that Mod Podge is also available here in Germany. Can someone please tell me if this is a fair price? I don't know how much the 16 fl oz bottle costs in the U.S.
Thanks for your support!

Anyhow I will see how much the stuff costs when I'm back in the States next year.

After I shared the last offer I found on this amazing building diorama, I eventually contacted the seller because I thought I knew him already:
http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=10579.msg215270#msg215270

It turned out that he is indeed Legacy Arts - an artist I've been following on ebay ever since he put his first buils up for auction 3 years ago. It was on my bucket list to buy one diorama building from him. Didn't know he shares his work of art on Facebook, too. If you like what you see please leave him a like and follow him on Facebook:

Legacy Arts was kind enough to even sell me one of his original (prototype) buildings! He told me he has special memories attached to them because he built them together with his father in law.
This makes it even more special to me to have it here with me right now and it is one of my most Special pieces in my collection now.

When I took a look at the pictures I posted above I found this building to be most appealing - don't know why since all of his buildings look so amazing.
I imagine it's like being in a dealership for high end luxury cars and you had to pick one. Not an easy choice Right?
If you've been to an art museum yet you'll know that you cannot get any closer to the objects than one foot. Well, I dared to dive in and zoomed in with my camera. So let's take a closer look at this 1/18 scale masterpiece designed and built by Jens from Legacy Arts here in Germany. Let's take a look around:

jkno: Yes, Jens really figures it out how to make exact replicas of the movie sets. I'd love to go to Tunesia myself some day - before they all fall apart and become one with the sand. That's probably part of the reason why the chosen one didn't like sand...
