well i come from a small market town of Maldon (where the world famous sea salt comes from ) its in the fair county of Essex  and about twenty miles from the oldest chartered Town in England ,Colchester the famous Roman garrison town ,Maldon has been around since the 5th century  its original name was Maeldune (Anglo-Saxon = Meeting place on the hill) it has a lot of  historical buildings most of the pubs in the high st (main street) date from the 14th-16th century  ,it was once the site of a royal mint ,it has at least five churches,an ancient friory and a 13th century leper hospital(ruins) in a 2 mile radius  of the town centre the newest(church) one dates from the 18th century)the church i got married in(St Mary's) sits right on the quay and is from the 1190's,also All Saints church is the only church in europe with a triangular spire ,there was a famous battle here in 991 A.D. between the anglo-saxons and the Vikings which is immortalised in a poem it is also the oldest protected battlefield on "English Heritage's" books in England .heres an interesting fact for those american shipyarders :The vicar of Purleigh Church, Lawrence Washington, who was the great, great grandfather of George Washington, first president of the United States, is buried here(All Saints) there is a window in the church dedicated to his memory it was a gift from the citizens of Malden ,Massachusetts to the town.it is also the last mooring place of the famous  coastal barges most of which are well over 100 years old and only a handful survive .

Great pics Jay. Maldon looks very beautiful.

I'm not sure but I think I tried this sea salt when I was in Vienna two years ago.

I'm from Sheffield, situated in South Yorkshire. I'm mostly a city boy even though I live on the outskirts of the city on the border of Sheffield & Derbyshire. Sheffield is well known for it's steel industry & sports facilities & is also home to quite a few famous people (Michael Palin of Monty Python fame, Sean Bean, Def Leppard & current Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg just to name a few). Sheffield is also the birth place of English football, or Soccer as you Yanks call it ;) & we have 2 major teams, Sheffield United & Sheffield Wednesday. We are also one of the few cities in England to run a tram service, which was modernized & re-introduced in 1994. We fell victim to one of the worst british floods in recent memory in 2007 & some areas of the city are still rebuilding their lives to this day. We are also home to one of the largest indoor shopping centres in England, Meadowhall.

Here are a few images of my hometown.

Awesome update. I need to give that video a watch. Glad to hear Centurions Corner is still around. Nice photo editing too. I would have never thought to do all that, but smart thinking.

Tamer: Thank you, Shawn! Yes, I saw a lot of the South-East and had a really good time! Thought I'd share what I saw with you on here to enjoy as well. Steve is doing well and his accounts on YouTube and Instagram keep gaining more fans.

JDeck: Thanks for coming by and asking! I flew in on Friday and left on Monday, again. I wish I had time to visit the Harry Potter Studios, but I saved that for next time. It was a nice long weekend with my buddy Steve aka Centurions Corner (https://www.youtube.com/@CenturionsCorner). It was a blast to say the least and we walked over 35 miles over those 3 1/2 days.

Canterbury
March 12, 2023

On the train to Canterbury we stopped at Selling. Hardly did I know what GAME had on sale there. Check out our store report here (http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=11078.msg232785#msg232785).

Didn't take long 'til we found a book shop downtown Canterbury. They sold some nice merch and even some LEGO there.

This building was built in 1573. The medieval look of Canterbury is what impressed me most.
