Title: Legacy Collection Gelagrub Patrol
Post by: Clonehead on December 08, 2009, 10:01:06 AM
As this figure has already been reviewed, I will concentrate on the Grub

I got this at a Wal-Mart for $24.99 but used a piece of Clone Cash to make it cheaper.
As an eagerly anticipated addition to the 327th Star Corps figures that have been made available in the past, this battle pack is more dissapointing in it's price point than in its presentation.

While the new 327th clone is pretty cool and does feature some new parts and articulation not available in a 327th Legacy clone before, The Gelagrub is kind of a bland beast whose colors are dark compared to the one shown in the very short amount of screen time in ROTS. The Grub features opening and closing pincer action by way of squeezing it's sides and that's about it. The clone does have the ability to ride the grub more so than the sandtrooper can ride the recent dewback released.

My whole gripe is that at this price point, the battle pack should at least come with another figure. A super arty Bly would have been a perfect pack-in for this one. A Grub and a figure should have been sold at the deluxe "mini rig" price point kind of like the Anakin and Can-cell was.

If you are a die hard 327th fan or have a Felucia diorama to build, than this one is going to tug at your pocketbook but if you are just wanting the figure, chances are that we will see him again, packaged seperatly.

It looks a little better in the light, but I agree it looks so dark compared to the movie. Bummer about the features too.

Good assessment,

I saw these on the shelf and thought "what a rip off" the grub looks like a cheap piece of plastic with very poor paint apps, atleast to me it does. The trooper is fine but I am not paying 25 bucks for a figure.

I'd have to say, this is probably the biggest bust of the entire line this year.  I think the grub itself is utterly worthless, better suited for the Galactic Heroes line.  If I find one on massive clearance, I may consider it for customizing only.

This is just the worst execution ever. If that aint a polished turd I don't know what is. What a bad job they did on this one. It should have been cast in a translucent blue then painted to highlight the sculpt. I have seen it in person and had no trouble leaving it on the shelf. It wouldn't even look good in the best Felucia diorama. I really hate how they handled this one and no way is it worth the price.

It's great they included a cloth Kama on the figure.  Makes it able to ride, as well as authentic.

Clint, or anyone who wants to post a pic, I need a picture of this in some type of square format as I will ultimately need a 100 by 100 graphic I can use to do the front page review section for this, but I just can't seem to cut one decent with the images here, probably my issue, but if I can get a more square pic of both the gelagrub and the trooper I will get it up in the review section on the fp.

I saw this one the other day and was wondering just what hasbro was thinking with this one...

I have a question, is the grub a solid plastic?  Or does it have the rubbery fake flesh that the new rancor and (i think) the new dewback has?

That new dewback, not to get too much off topic, sure doesn't seem too supple to me. Ofcourse my little girl drowns him in the tub every evening and pull his four legs and head off too. I never did find that sandtrooper head yet. Oh well, I can always count on her for my demolitions team. I too was wondering how hard the plastic was on this and think it will be pretty hard. At least it does look like they saw if a figure could fit on it before they made the line though.

It's not very rubbery and seems mostly solid and made from a flexable plastic, kind of like the plastic used to make the blasters and rifles but alot thicker and therefore, alot less flexable.
