I start a new projet today. I add more deatils on the IFT-X from Hasbro. I made today the detailing in the rocket storage and started with a dark wash.
Have you some ideas what could be better on the IFT-X.

here are the first pics:

Looking good so far, love the xtra detail in the missile compartment. Spud has a nice custom tank he worked on that has lots of extra firepower and great paint job..

As to ideas, maybe add a nice sensor pod to the top Coppola  (night, IR, movement, heartbeat..etc.)

yeah, that's right. I used a soldering iron, it's the easiest way, because the plastic is very thick.

Here a small list what I have made:
weatherin and battle damage (with dark washing and drybrushing)
more details on the rocket storage
antennas and flag (with wire, flute, paper)
more details on the cannons (with refill for a ballpoint pen, wire, paper)
some handles (with wire)
and some other stuff

that is uterly beautiful... I honestly may have to get myself another one to do this to it!  wow!  I am still blown away.

The ONLY problem I have with it is that "clanker crusher" should be in the arubesh type to make it even more cannon.  Other than that the entire thing is gorgeous!

As much as I loathe all the angles and the inward-scooped front of the design of that tank, I have to say all your hyper detailing on it totally redeems it and makes it a lot more interesting.

the clone in the top turret is too clean though  :)    awesome idea to add the Jedi pilot head mic to the bucket, I like that!

I started two days ago a new custom vehicle project. I make a 212th AT-RT custom. It's my first try to mix a Revell SW vehicle with a Hasbro figure.
The weathering is made with a dark wash and drybrushing.
I hope I can finish it next weekend.

Probably not, Spud, as there is a size difference to contend with. The model kit's legs are articulated although the foot joint could use some help to make posing it more user friendly.

Not intending to thread jack, here are a couple of pics to compare size in between the revell kit and my unfinished custom ROTS atrt.

This looks terrific! I am having a bit of trouble being able to tell what mods you did other than paint. Did you add a model kit leg joint to the Hasbro vehicle? That is kind of what it looks like! Please more info as this looks bad ass!

No buddy, just paint for now. My intent was to add more details later after I finished with the paint apps.
Like I said, I don't want to thread jack but there are better flash-free shots of it in my customs thread, somewhere, that I posted last spring. Here is a link to a shot that I found in my Shipyards Custom Gallery.

Clint is right Spud, the size difference is too big. I don't know what size is more movie acurate but a Hasbro figure/Revell AT-RT mix could work. I found some very impressive pics on google: http://www.phoxim.de/christian_bekisch_atrt/christian_bekisch_atrt.html
The articulation is quiet good but could be better in my opinion. Some of the swivels only limited movable.

hmm.... I'm going to have to look into getting one of those.  I think the revel model is probably more screen acurate to the movie itself, HOWEVER the TCW at-rt is probably screen accurate to the tv show.

looks to me like revel has the right idea for the legs.  Even with limited movement in the joints it is much much better than the hasbro version.

AT-RT of the 212th Attack Battalion

As the 212th Attack Battalion became known across the galaxy for precise, lightning quick strikes that dealt devastating blows to Separatist forces, Clone Commander Cody and General Obi-Wan Kenobi worked together to develop an armored company that complemented the speed and skill of the lights infantry. The AT-RT was one of the first walker units deployed with the 212th. It proved extremely effective at supporting the battalion's high-speed, high-impact tactics. (from rebelscum)

Here he is the finished 212th AT-RT custom. I hope you like it guys.

I started with a new easykit custom today. I found the easykit version of Obi-Wan's Eta-2 Jedi starfighter last week. The cockpit is extremely detailed but the kit comes without weathering. So I decided to fix this problem by myself. I also want to add a landing gear to the kit and maybe a small dio.

Here are the first pics of the overworked cockpit:

is this the realy small one (1/72 scale I think?) or a larger scale model?
the smaller one looks pretty good next to the action fleet ships, and fits an action fleet mini-figure almost perfectly...

It is the larger model. Scale 1/28. The smaller kit is by far not so detailed.

Over-worked Revell easykit Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor

Finished today the model.

Revell easykit Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter:
length: 198mm
no. of parts: 39
scale: 1/28
no weathering, no landing gear

The Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor, sometimes referred to as the Jedi interceptor due to its popularity with Jedi pilots, was a Republic starfighter used late in the Clone Wars that shared design elements of the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class Jedi starfighter and the TIE/ln starfighter of the later Galactic Empire.

I changed:
*weathering with sanding, washing and dry brushing
*scratch build landing gear
*scratch build service hatch
*detailed engine on a jack lift
*some decals for the cockpit

The engine and jack lift is from a very old F-16 Revell model kit, scale 1/72.
A small dio(base) for this custom vehicle should follow next week.

that Jedi starfighter is just astounding!   You should give some of that same treatment to one of Hasbro's 3 3/4" vehicles now, there's a world of improvements you could make to theirs.

To me this is one of your best if not the best model customs to date. As everyone has pointed out your additions and weathering put this one over the top. That cockpit is brilliant! Love the removable engine and jack, did it come with another model? There is nothing you could do to make it better. 10/10

Clonehead:
Thanks for putting it on the fp Clint, great that you like it mate.

NFC:
Thanks mate. The idea is great to make some 3 3/4" Eta-2 customs but they are a bit hard to fing here and I'm running out of space so I think my next custom vehicles are also from Revell.

Customs Dept:
Thanks mate but I think your Clones look perfect. I really like your custom work.

Reconsgt:
Thank you very much. The engine and lift is from a very old model kit and too small for Hasbro vehicles, but Revell brought out a nice kit of the Eurofighter with some great accessories. I think this would work great for a Hasbro custom.

wraith9:
Thx a lot Jay

Tamer:
Thanks a lot

StenHunter:
Thanks mate. I'm glad that you like it

hangarbay94:
Thanks Jules but my weathering is by far not so good as yours mate.

bobby-brazil:
Thanks bobby. I really like to make things more detailed and I think I will make a lot more of these Revell customs in the future.

Luke Sprywalker:
Thank you so much Luke, to hear that from one of the best vehicle custom maker is really awesome.
The engine and the jack lift are from a 10 year old Revell F-16 Fighting Falcon model kit scale 1/72.

flaccideagle:
Thanks mate. I hope I can finish the base next weekend.

Here is a repainted Revell Y-Wing with demounted engine.
The Y-Wing is part of black squadron (identification: black four).

The transition point engine/wing is scratch build with wire and parts from other model kits.

a small diorama will follow in one or two weeks

model kit:
Revell easykit (comes with markings of gold squadron)
includes 1 pilot and 1 R5 astromech droid
no weathering,  landing gear or stand included
scale 1/72 (about 22cm long)

FF, that Y-Wng is a beaut, I especially like the black ident pattern you've painted to the cockpit section, it's very original and works really well with the bomber. I also think you've weathered it perfectly, the technique you've used highlights the detailing perfectly, making it look far more complex.

I really like what you've created, it's a great addition to your portfolio and an original piece.

Top marks!!!

T-65BR X-wing reconnaissance starfighter

The T-65BR X-wing reconnaissance starfighter, commonly called the Recon-X or Snoopscoot, was a variant of the Incom T-65 X-wing starfighter modified for reconnaissance missions. A vast improvement over the aged and slow Longprobe Y-wings, the T-65BR featured an advanced, high-gain, long-range sensor package with high-speed hypertransceivers in place of the standard X-wing's proton torpedo launchers.
The on-board R2-R-series astromech droid coordinated the sensors to provide maximum efficiency, a requirement when jumping into potentially dangerous zones. It was also equipped with a HoloNet communicator that enabled it to relay its findings instantaneously to allied command centers.
(wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/T-65BR_X-wing_reconnaissance_starfighter)

the model kit:
The starting point was of course a Revell eayskit X-Wing starfighter (http://www.revell.de/starwars/produkte/en-x-wing-fighter.html)
length: 218mm
wingspan: 195mm
scale: ~1/100
no. of parts: 38

the custom:
I used model kit bombs, wire, parts of an old computer board, Iron Man missiles etc. for the custom

change list:
*long-range sensors in the front
*towed sonar in the back
*access door on the bottom
*detailing of the cockpit
*lines for the landing gear
*new painting
*weathering

Hey man, excellent job on the Recon X-wing. It really is amazing what a nice weathering job will do for these kits (of course, super-detailing to T-65BR helps too). And thanks to Spudafett for posting an image of my T-65BR. Maybe someday I'll go back and weather it, but I felt "done" the thing at the time (masking off and painting the wing markings AFTER spraying a basecoat was mind-numbing).

I really like how the black markings turned out on yours. I went back and fourth on what color to use, but black definitely works. I also like the metallic look you gave the sensors. It gives it the Rebel "field-modified" look that really fits. Nice Job!

first of all welcome aboard Unreality
It's always nice to meet another vehicle customizer.
You did really a great job on your T-65BR. The paintjob and the sensors are perfect.
Weathering is not a must but it is always highlight especially on every SW vehicle.

URAV VTOL 103 "Mynock"

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV; also known as a remotely piloted vehicle or RPV, or Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS)) is an aircraft that is flown by a pilot or a navigator (now called Combat Systems Officer) depending on the different Air Forces; however, without a human crew on board the aircraft. Their largest uses are in military applications. To distinguish UAVs from missiles, a UAV is defined as a powered, aerial vehicle that does not carry a human operator, uses aerodynamic forces to provide vehicle lift, can fly autonomously or be piloted remotely, can be expendable or recoverable, and can carry a lethal or nonlethal payload. [wikipedia]

The "Mynock" is a small URAV (Unmanned Reconnaissance Aerial Vehicle) in the service of the Republic. A UAV is more powerful than a droid, also cheaper and smaller.
The 1st Recon Squadron is stationed on Coruscant for police surveillance and anti-terror missions. The project was canceled after the takeover of Palpatine.

ISP

The Infantry Support Platform (ISP), also known as the swamp speeder, was a repulsorlift speeder first deployed by the Grand Army of the Republic for swamp combat during the late Clone Wars. [wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/ISP]

HASBRO did a great job and the vehicle looks good but I miss the weathering on the swamp speeder. I add also some handle bars and glued the cannons (or missile) of the swivelling twin blaster cannons into place.
The weathering is made with "wash" and "drybrush" techniques.

I hope you like it:

Fantastic job here, firstly with the weathering and accessories..secondly with the environment you've placed this thing in....and thirdly with the photography.
it really looks like they are "combing the swamps" ...that trooper up to his chest plate in water, etc.  looks great.

the only suggestion i'd make is to possibly add a few muddy footprints to the deck.

fun stuff!

T-82 Twin X-Wing
concept and drawing by CamoDeafie

After what felt like an eternity...
I'm back with a custom vehicle.
The Twin X-Wing was on my wish list since I saw it in CamoDeafie's Sci-Fi drawings topic: http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=8530.90
His topic is full of very interesting concepts and "ugly"-starfighters.

The Twin X-Wing is inspired by the F-82 Twin Mustang or the Messerschmitt Bf 109 Z (Zwilling): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_F-82_Twin_Mustang
I used two Revell easykit pocket X-Wing snap model kits and bits and pieces for the B-Wing engine: http://www.revell.de/en/products/star-wars/star-wars-episode-iv-vi/id/06723.html
The stand is made with 1,5mm wire and nutwood.

TIE EXPERIMENTAL M1 (BIZZARO)

The TIE Experimental M1, also known as the TIE Bizarro, was an experimental member of the TIE Series and a part of the TIE Experimental Project.
One of the starfighters built by an Imperial research project led by Director Lenzer under the command of Grand Admiral Demetrius Zaarin, the M1 consisted of a single standard TIE/LN starfighter wing panel with two wing braces connected to a pair of standard TIE series cockpit pods. The port pod held the control systems, and the starboard pod held a turbolaser much heavier than the laser cannons equipped on any previous TIE.

TIE EXPERIMENTAL M3

The TIE Experimental M3, also known as the TIE Warhead, was an experimental member of the TIE Series and a part of the TIE Experimental Project. [wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE_Experimental_M3]

I used the Revell TIE Interceptor kit in 1/90 scale for the custom. The warhead launchers are modified WW2 US bombs in 1/48 scale from an old B-17 kit.
Paintwork: Revell enamel and aqua colours, washes with thinned oil colours.

TIE TRI-FIGHTER (CLUTCH)

The Tri-fighter, known colloquially by both its users and targets as the Clutch, was an "Ugly" starfighter used by Moff Leonia Tavira and her gang of pirates, the Invids.
The Clutch consisted of a TIE/LN starfighter ball cockpit and ion engines and three triangular fins set 120° apart with one fin above the cockpit and two below.
[wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Clutch_(fighter)]

I used a Revell TIE Interceptor model kit for the custom. The engine part behind the ball cockpit is from an old space station MIR model kit.
I used mainly Tamiya spray colours and Revell enamel colours. One flaw of the older Revell Star Wars model kits is the absence of a display stand. I made a simple display stand with nut wood and 1mm wire.
It was a lot of work to cut out the wings and all the other parts but all in all a nice custom project.
I hope you like it.

Christoph we have had a lot of likes on this for our FB Page. One question I thought was interesting, does that top wing fold so the cockpit will open up or does it have any ingress/egress for the cockpit?

Thank you very much.

Christoph we have had a lot of likes on this for our FB Page. One question I thought was interesting, does that top wing fold so the cockpit will open up or does it have any ingress/egress for the cockpit?
Thank you for putting it on the ISY FB Page Shawn. That's a good question. My idea was that the entrance to the cockpit is at bottom of the vehicle and the gas fuel tank which is normally below the cockpit is now in the cylindrical part behind the cockpit.
I have to admit that the "folding top wing" concept sounds a lot more interesting and it is also a better solution.

These are great looking TIE Fighters!
Really nice work on them all.
Thank you.

TIE/D Defender

The TIE/D Defender, commonly known as the TIE Defender or T/D, was a high-performance TIE Series starfighter developed for the Imperial Navy by Sienar Fleet Systems shortly before the Battle of Endor. Representing a shift in starfighter design from previous TIE models, the ship featured a hyperdrive as well as deflector shields to allow it to operate independently of Imperial capital ships. The ship's speed and agility, combined with its firepower, made it arguably the most advanced starfighter available at the time.
[wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE/D_Defender/Legends]

I used two Revell TIE Interceptor model kits for the custom. They are very cheap to get on Amazon for about 5,50€. The wings are slightly modified. The superstructure for the wings was made with an plastic ring and parts from the TIE Interceptor kits. The wings are removable.
I know, the wing is not 100% correct but I'm with the result.
I made a simple display stand with nut wood and 1mm wire.
I hope you like it.

I totally agree with Ron! It's incredible to see how accurate you build these TIEs! I am especially amazed by the connection on the back of the cockpit. The transition between each girder to the wings is just flawless! No glue, no broken edges - just very smooth  and clean as always! Also the 120° angle between each girder couldn't be more accurate! I like it a lot!

TIE ECHELON

A radical new and desperate design by Sienar Fleet Systems. The Echelon was incredibly fast  and far more manouverable then even the TIE Interceptor. The weapons system was improved. The power consumption was very high and led to overheating.

Design made by unusualsuspex.

UT-60D U-Wing

The UT-60D U-wing starfighter/support craft also known as the UT-60D, or U-wing, was a transport/gunship model manufactured by Incom Corporation and used by the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War.
[wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/UT-60D_U-wing_starfighter/support_craft]

A big thank you goes to Philipp (legion078) who gave me the washes I used for the weathering of the U-Wing

Manufacturer: Revell (https://www.revell.de/en/products/star-wars/star-wars-rogue-one/id/06755.html)
Scale: ~ 1/100
No. of parts: 35
Lights and sound module with batteries is included.

Weahtering:
I used different washes to create a weathering effect. I also tried the chipping technique (old sponge with a little bit of paint) on some areas.
Some panels were painted in a different colour to get the typical "rebel ship look".
The engine block was repainted with a dark bronze colour and drybrushed. The cooling fins for the engine are made of cardboard.

I hope you like it.

Revell ARC-170 with weathering

The Aggressive ReConnaissance-170 starfighter, also known simply as the ARC-170 starfighter, was a heavy-duty model of starfighter used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars and was considered the latest in fighter technology.
[wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Aggressive_ReConnaissance-170_starfighter]

I've added some weathering and some modifactions to my Revell ARC-170.

Weathering:
AK enamel wash (thanks again Darth More)
Revell Aqua Colour

Modifications:
*wing flaps in different positions
*Astromech
*drilled out muzzles
*repaint of the engines
*red lines around some panels

Christoph, that's one insane dedication to detail! I can only agree with Tamer: Your background info and references are fantastic! The overall paintjob is amazing - the detail on wings and engines is just elite. I haven't noticed the panel on the back of its wings before. That's interesting. Revell's ARC-170 from 2005 is one nice model kit which you built and painted to absolute perfection.

I agree - that's such a cool looking concept! The X-Wing looks great in every color! I'm glad they decided to include Blue Squadron in Rogue One...fantastic work, mate! Your engineering skills always impress!

Nice! I really like how your ARC-170 turned out, and I had never noticed the wing flaps. Great eye!

I love the concept for the double X-wing. I've always liked the P-38, so seeing the F-82 (Twin Mustang) as the basis for a concept is pretty great. The model looks fantastic and your paint job is excellent!

Imperial Patrol Speeder

The C-PH patrol speeder bike, also known as the Imperial patrol speeder or as the interceptor speeder bike, was a model of speeder bike used by patrol stormtroopers of the Galactic Empire to patrol shipyards, cities and other industrial facilities useful to the Imperial cause. One example of their use was in Coronet City on Corellia. [wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/C-PH_patrol_speeder_bike]

Here you have my weathered and detailed Revell Imperial Patrol Speeder.
The patrol stormtrooper is now correctly painted. I used Revell aqua colour black and gave him a light wash with black oil colour.
I used some wire to bring more details on the Patrol Speeder. The inner parts were repainted with acrylic dark grey, the seat with acrylic black.
The weathering was made with AK acrylic wash for german vehicles (thanks again DarthMore for the first class washes). I made some streaks with brown oil colour and I put brown pigments on the foot pedals.

When you mentioned you are working on a "little project" you could've also told me that you were working in a little masterpiece!
Christoph, your attention to detail and accuracy in any scale is nothing less, but most impressive!
The Imperial Patrol Trooper looks amazing with the paint apps and the speeder looks most realistic.
Another great addition to your collection! It's also great that you found a scan of the book to SOLO. I got this book used for 10 bucks and also sold it for that price, again. I think it's DK's most disappointing visual encyclopedia so far. So if you don't have it, you don't miss anything.

Thanks for sharing!

TIE/rb heavy starfighter

The TIE/rb heavy starfighter, also known as the heavy TIE fighter, TIE brute or the Infiltrator was a variant of the TIE line starfighters used by the Galactic Empire, distinguished by its extra pod housing more powerful laser cannons.
[wookieepedia: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/TIE/rb_heavy_starfighter]

Here is what I used for the custom:

This was a pretty time-consuming custom project. The additional armor was quiet difficult to make.
The laser turret is pivotable 360°.

I hope you like it.

Millennium Falcon

Not really a custom and nothing special. I added weathering to my Revell (1:241 scale) Millennium Falcon.
I used my hand drill and a hobby knife to add some battle damage. I painted the missing yellow markings with a Tamiya paint.
For the weathering I used Revell pigments (black and rust) and a black wash.

I hope you like it:

Don't know what I find more exciting: your latest project or you sharing it on here! So good to see you got back to customizing! The master is back at the desk. Considering the scale of this falcon (and also the reduced detail on Revell's EasyKit/low budget models) I think you made this look as good as i possibly can. Like Tamer said, the weathering makes the difference and the pigments really highlight the details that are there.
Those black dots remind me of the tar stains I constantly collect on the front of my car.

Man, I'm so glad to see you back around and hope you keep the momentum going  0/

TIE crawler

The TIE crawler, or century tank, was a model of tank that resembled a TIE starfighter cockpit suspended between two tank treads. It was used to climb tall hill of debris.
[wookieepedia: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/TIE_crawler]

Here is my first 3D printed Star Wars model kit. I used a Formlabs 3D sinter powder printer. The printed cockpit was not very detailed so I decided to use a Revell TIE Interceptor cockpit instead. The model was painted with Revell and Tamiya paints.
I hope you like it.

That's really cool! Did you design the file for printing yourself? If so...amazingly done. If not...still really cool! Nice job with the paint scheme. I agree with Tamer, the Revell T.I.E. cockpit was a great idea.

I think your TIE Crawler is a milestone for the way you enjoy your hobby. I really like the fact that the treads look worn a bit. The weathering adds to the effect, but also the minor detail at that scale is actually a win in my book! 3D printing opens so many new possibilities and I'm looking forward to seeing what you else you do with it.
Endless power to you because your creativity is amazing! Your latest project crawls to new shores of countless possibilities! I always enjoyed playing Empire at War with TIE Maulers and wish TIE Crawlers were included as well. You captured its design really well. Much respect for creating this STL file from scratch!
