Title: New Legacy Commander Cody
Post by: Commander_Kurgan on November 09, 2009, 01:34:58 PM
Today my Clone Army received a new intake.
My trusty Hong Kong-based Ebay dealer sent me some new figures, the new Legacy Commander Cody, the Gelagrub trooper and Commander Bly.

In this review I’ll focus on Cody, the Gelagrub trooper will be presented later.

Let me tell you. Cody’s got some balls.
Really.
Except for the swivel wrists, all other joints are either ball-jointed or ball-hinged.
I feel safe to say that articulation-wise this figure is the ultimate super-articulated Clone trooper.

It seems that Hasbro has re-used the old style Cody’s helmet, rocket pack and head, all other parts appear to be new sculpts.
The result is a very cool figure which I don’t hesitate recommending.

I’m not particularly thrilled by the now used rubbery plastic Hasbro uses on the removeable helmets and I think they used the same soft plastic in the rocket pack. This part doesn’t like to stay in place too well, so I’m going to glue it down.

The figure has a nice factory paintjob on the armor, the left shoulder guard on the new figure is missing the tiny white stencilling which the old figure had.

His head has a new paintjob with whitewall haircut, I’m not sure if that is movie accurate or not, though.

Re. accessories the figure comes with the bulky version of the DC-15 Blaster Rifle with painted butt, the hilt of Obi-Wan’s lightsaber and a holo projector with a projection of Chancellor Palpatine. On the belt there is a small hole to put the peg of the lightsabe hilt into, but the hole is a touch too small so you'll have to work it into place.

Thus equipped, the figure cries for a vignette of Cody handing Obi-Wan his lightsaber, Cody receiving Order 66 or giving his men the order to blast Obi-Wan.

This new Cody also has great potential to be used for custom paintjobs (Clint, Jay, do you hear the voices in your head calling?) or new characters from your own Star Wars universe.

Thanks Shawn.
The new Cody is a cool figure and now we finally have Clones who can kick in doors or roundhouse kick the Seps.

Volker, you beat me to it as I can't pick mine up at the PO till tomorrow. I was under the impression that this would be a bigger, taller Cody. The head and helmet is the same small size as the Saga Cody?

Yep, same size.

Great review.  I'm looking forward to getting this figure.

I dig the background you've got Cody up against.  Is this something of your own design?

Wish it was...I just used the diorama background elements Hangarbay94 provided us with.

Great review and nice pics.
Look forward to finding a few of this one for sure.
Too bad about the tiny head though.

that is one kick ass clone figure!

I believe a brand new Commander Bacara is in order now with same level of detail and articulation as the new Cody andthe  2007 Gree both got!

I believe that there is a Bacura repack coming. How sweet would that be if they gave us a superarty version?

Confirmed, cody's helmet is the same size and although the head sculpt looks different to me than the saga one, it is still quite small.

yeah it's just a repack.  I meant a brand new sculpt from top to bottom is needed.

that said, I'm going to buy the repack version anyways just to show my support for the GM commander being availible again.   :)

Don't forget about the battlepack that is out now with him and the four other troopers. I saw one this past weekend. Clone attack on Corusant as I recall? I just sold the camo atrt bp too that had the great camo version of bacura. I like that clone commander too. We need a good version of him. Might make a good ask hasbro question.

that's an unnamed repaint of Bacara's mold  :)   and its the spring loaded arm "quick draw" figure too

of course I took the liberty of naming that commander myself

Quote
Commander Nestene (specimen 2642)

Nestene was created in the fourth batch of successful clone troopers on Kamino and trained by Dred Priest for most of his life, his dedication to the Mando'a legacy was questionable and his outlook on life is mostly grim.  He never necessarily followed his orders to the letter as his superiors would have preferred but he always unfailingly got the job done and his "unique approach" was often admirable and ballsy, there was never any doubts he'd have a command of his own someday.  2642 was deployed to Geonosis as part of the second wave of reinforcements and within a year was a back-up commander of 41st Elite, under the supreme leadership of Gree (CC 1004) the Grand Marshall of the "green" unit.   When half of the 41st was assigned to combat the droid attack on the Wookies at the end of the Clone War, Nestene  was given a stand-in command of the 41st until Gree returned from Kashyyyk.   When Order 66 was handed down by the Chancellor himself, Nestene's unit charged headlong down into the midlevels of the city-planet searching for stray Jedi.  Nobody heard from the unit again.

the new bacara is a clean version from the old mygeeto battlepack... SA, but swivel hips and no removable helmet

Yar i wanna get my hands on more cody for customising... the belt makes a good one for jedi in clone armour..
