I don't know if this is a problem everywhere but I know at home and at school the graphics for the buttons, the logo, and other items on the front page show the red X of doom.. now this isn't a huge issue as the links still are able to be discerned as to what they are and obviously I am able to get to the forum fine... but aesthetically it sucks.
I just wanted to bring that to the necessary people's attention as I think it should be fixed. IDK if it might be the site hosting those images' problem or if it is the server which this site is on... idk...

How long has this been happening for you, and which browser are you using? This is the first I've heard about this, so I'll look into it right away.

I figured it might be something on my end of things
but with it going on both at home and on the schools computer it got me wondering...

That is interesting. I'm guessing it's something in the video settings, but I'm very interested to find out what, and to see if others are having similar problems. I see nothing in IE, Firefox, or Safari

I've *never* seen graphics on the front page, just red X'o'dooms. I use Firefox. Been that way since I first signed up...I just assumed the graphics had been lost to the aether!

Wow, that is NOT good. I'm very disturbed by this, because I've never had a problem, and this is the first I've heard of this. It has to be something in the setting of your browsers. Have you both updated the browsers you're using lately?

Can you both do me a favor when you get a chance and be sure to update your drivers and programs? Be sure to go to your browsers and get the most current versions. Go to the website of the computer manufacturer you have and update your systems and go to Microsoft (I'm assuming you're using WIndows) and check for updates. That is the only thing I can think of at this time, but I'm going to keep working on it all.

Also, check your firewalls and be sure they're not interfering at all. I'm searching for potential reasons this is happening...

I'm not realy at all concerned with it as it does not hamper me getting around the site... but have always wondered just what those graphics looked like. lol.
I'm pretty sure my programing us up to date as this is a brand new computer...
I'll fool around with some of the settings and see what it does.
all the graphics in the actual forum work flawlessly.

Could it be privacy settings of some sort due to the browser they are running?

Ok, this is odd. On a lark this morning, I pulled up the FP. NOW I get all the nav-graphics but the article pics are X'd. Usually it is the other way around. I keep Firefox updated, but haven't updated Vista since I got the computer.

So now I refresh the page and can see ALL the graphics. Beats me...

LOL! Ok, this is completely wacky! I'm glad you can now see them, though I have done nothing different since last night. If anyone out there has an idea what may be causing this, please let me know!

I am on Vista at home, no issues at all, XP at work no issues, I never had any of the issues that have been brought up so I don't know what it is.

Hey Devin, I worked on the front page a bit today and there were a few coding issues, I think you should be good to go now. We are in the process of updating everything, we appreciate your patience as we make upgrades to the Yards folks.
Please let us know guys if you see any issues. I can't go look to see what to fix if you don't let us know. That being said, thanks for letting us know Devin.

Doc, I have looked at the fp through three different computers today and all seemed to load ok. I wonder if it is one of the scripts. Can you narrow down the graphics that don't seem to load and I will look again. I will tell you though that the code is squeaky clean, course it is code. Does your browser have a time out bar for graphics? I forget where those setting are, but sometimes in your browser, you have to adjust the settings to allow for a longer page load time or it will not load up all the graphics. Let me know, I want all of us to see the pretty pictures!

Ya got me... I *do* see the graphics that are part of the articles - I just don't usually see the sidebar and title graphics.

it's still no big deal to me. As it seems to be a mostly isolated event. In all honesty I could care less what the site looked like aesthetically as most of the time I link strait to the forum and skip the front page all together! lol

For me I see broken FP images that appear to come from secondary providers. This is normally first time in the morning, after it's loaded once though the images are ok.
I'll try and get a screen shot of it today or tomorrow and include it.
Most times it's the difference between using IE or Chrome.

Everyone who had this issue in the past, I may have found and fixed this problem for the very few of you. Can you please take another look at the front page and let me know if you are still having issues, and if so, can you get me a screen grab of it so I can compare the problem areas?

hi, I dont get any of the graphics either, I get red Xs as well, I tried to access the graphics directly and I get this error
403 Permission Denied

so not sure what it is, but I just cant see them...
I use the newest firefox with ad blocking dissabled, heres a screen image

Holy Mary Mother of Christ, I just do not understand this. We have done everything we can find in the classes we took, as well as internet searches and other things. This happens to such a small selection of people that I can't pinpoint what it is. Tell you what, Spooky, do me a favor. You are using Firefox, so please go to Tools>Options and copy down ALL of EVERY setting in ALL of the tabs in there and send them to me in a PM so I can compare to my own settings. I know I'm asking a lot, and I do apologize, but I really need to get to the bottom of this crap.

yeah i can do that, I dont know if you saw or not tho that the images when tried to view them on their own via direct link said I didnt have permission to see them.........could it be a setting given to certain members? Like maybe security setting for some of us that was given?

I am being forced to learn corporate level networking management skills at an alarming rate for work....
I dont have all the answers, but most of my ideas are pretty sound, and this should be fixable at the user level... it is not really a website problem.
We have similar problems at work using our network machines with operating systems ranging from XP to vista and Windows 7, all with the most recent updates and service packs, when attempting to view various websites.
Generally, it is a security settings issue created by the users web browser.... a pop up window states something about viewing secure material (https) over a nonsecure (http) connection... there is a yes and a no tab for you to click
If you click yes, it shows only secure connection stuff... all else is small boxes with red X's in them. press no and you see it all, but it isnt a real secure connection. and there may be a check box saying always perform this action.
The bad thing is sometimes if you select the always perform this action box, it is near impossible to uncheck that box so you can view the material.
And it is a different fix for each web browser used(mozilla, firefox, internet explorer).
Quickest is to uninstall your web browser and reinstall it again (after restarting your computer).
I wish I could give you a for sure fix, but I havent had this problem here in a while.... and I cant really remember what I did to fix it.
It is different for each computer too.

I do belive Dana is onto something here. I am guessing there is probably some setting, if you are using IE8 like I am, under tools and internet option that needs to either be checked or unchecked in the advanced tab. I, from work and home, am sometimes using up to eight or nine different computers a day, some with some pretty extensive firewalls, and am able to see all graphics on the front page and in here besides youtube videos on occasion. Still, we want all of you to be able to view this place and we are going to work with our Hosting Provider to see if perhaps together we can figure this out. I hate it when I think folks can't view the great graphics and news on the front page.

I dropped my security setting to none just to see, restarted IE and Firefox (I did it with both) and I get the same results....my son's iPod however can view the site just fine, my wifes laptop has the same issue my PC does. I am using Win XP pro and my wifes laptop had Vista 64

HEY, I GOT IT!!!!
okay, the link I had to this site was

which I got the errors on......now, i clicked on the head banner on the forums page (home) and got this link

and everything shows up.....so there seems to be an extra "." on the end of the first link....not sure where that link came from exactly but it was on this site and thats what I bookmarked. Anyway, thats what was causing my error, that little ".". So leave the dot off and get no errors, so the admin might want to double check all his "home" links to make sure that "." is not there in the hyperlink.

Ok, so you have to tell me where you got the link with the extra "." in it. No where can I find is that placed in any of our links, but when I put that exact URL in the address bar, I get the same problem. It wouldn't make any sense to have that extra period at the end of that link. That is very interesting however, and I'll have to look at our server to see where I can find that problem.

LOL! No problem, it's just very curious. A few others have had the same problem and this is the first time I've ever seen this solution. I'm just wondering how we can combat that.

I only noticed it because I clicked on the forum header and the page came right up, shocked I started comparing the URLs and noticed the ".", I was like "WTF, where did that come from?"
