interesting how best buy seems to be getting into toy retail. That will be nice for folks to have one more place to go look. Still bummed about my at-st though, that Mandalorian one was way overpriced.

I am usually against toylines pumping out cheap repaints as they are lazy cash grabs, but I am actually hoping Wicked Cool Toys/Jazwares does repaints in the "Halo" line as almost all of the Covenant troop types have multiple colorways while still having the same digital model.
Grunts traditionally come in orange (which we got in the 2pk with the Marine), red (shown as a prototype at the 2020 Toy Fair), blue (coming in wave 2) and yellow.
Elites usually pop up in yellow/gold (like we got in the Ghost set, Amazon 3pk and the upcoming wave 2 release), red, blue and purple.
Jackals usually have armor in blue (like the single figure), red and grey (shown as a prototype at the 2020 Toy Fair).
Brutes have gold (Chieftain like in the 2pk with MC), red (single pack Captain), blue and grey.
There may be other colors that I am missing, but you can see where I am going with this. They can use a slot in each wave for a Covenant troop recolor (hopefully with a different weapon each time) and I will not complain. They can use the money saved on tooling to expand the range with other Covenant troop types like Drones that usually only show up in 1 color or for individual characters like the Arbiter.

Jazwares/Wicked Cool Toys "Halo" Covenant figures with McFarlane weapons:
They scale nicely save for the tiny plasma rifles (not McFarlane, but the original license holder whose name escapes me at the moment), but here they come off more like plasma sub machineguns which works for me!

Today I hit 3 Walmarts and 4 Targets.
An observation:
I think the "Halo" line is on its way out as all of the Targets had the entire line on clearance. Prices varied from store to store as they do not seem to be doing their markdowns at the same time.
Single figures (including the recently released wave 2): $4.99 - $6.99 (regular retail is $9.99)
2pks: $9.99 - $13.99 (regular retail in $19.99)
Target exclusive 3pk: $14.99 - $19.99 (regular retail is $29.99)
Warthog: $14.99 - $19.99 (regular retail is $24.99)
Hopefully this is just to clear out old stock and make way for wave 3, but I have my doubts as the stock doesn't seem to move very often :(
I just hope wave 3 makes it out before they can the line as the shield Jackals are finally coming. They should have come in wave 1 instead of the sniper Jackals as they are more iconic.

The new Halo stands work with the old ones. The new one is in the middle. The new ones do not sit as deeply as the old ones but they do hold securely.
The second image is a view of the underside where you can see that the new ones do not sit fully within the old ones.

The UNSC Check Point is on Walmart's site.
It is simply listed as 3.75" Mission Pack but a few people have ordered them and it is the 2pk with the purple Elite Mercenary, the blue Spartan and all of the crates and stuff.

What is up with the stands in the new "Halo" USCM Check Point?
The details are super soft.
Pictured below are all 3 types of stands ("granite", "grass", "stones"). The top stand in each photo is from Series 1 and 2. The middle stand in each photo is the new interlocking style from from the single packed Series 3 figures. The bottom stand in each photo is the new interlocking style from the USCM Check Point.
You can see the loss of detail in the new stands

My local Targets are resetting the toy departments. The Halo singles will be on a shelf instead of a peg. The space allotted looks to be 3 across so hopefully they will stock them nice and deep.

Possible first look at Jazwares "Halo" Series 5. Being that today is April 1st, I am somewhat skeptical, but if these are fakes, they are damned good looking fakes. We should hopefully get more info soon.

At one point I told myself I'm only sticking with Star Wars. But these Halo figures have been two hard to pass up. Good articulation and reasonable prices. I was "only" going to get master chief. I now have the Warthog, Gungoose, Mantis, an Elite, and the Walmart armory pack. *sigh*

Looks like that pic from the 1st is legit, but was a packaging test, not the final product.
WAVE 5 of the 4 inch:
1. Sgt Johnson (with assault rifle)
2. ODST (with battle rifle and I believe those colors on that packaged picture are not final as there are test shot pieces in a creme color attached and the back photo picture on back of package is different color)
3. Master Chief (from Halo 2 wielding dual SMGs)
4. Grunt Grenadier (with 2 "cooked" plasma grenades)
5. Arbiter (with energy sword)
6. Spartan Locke (with battle rifle)

For anyone that was waiting on this (it was supposed to be out last year), they are hitting Targets now.

Sadly, the figures representing the Grunt and Master Chief from the first game are sculpted REALLY minimally to represent the older game's graphics. If they were "hi res" like the figures from the current game, I would probably get at least 6 of the old style Grunts, but Jazwares/Wicked Cool Toys are saving me a ton of money with thes "retro" sculpts.
