Title: Paint Removal: TRU 'Red 3' X-wing

I wanted to check in here before I do anything drastic; would acetone work for removing the red hash marks on the TRU X-wing, or would it be too caustic?  Trying to remove 2 stripes to make it Red 1.

I have used nail polish remover, which has acetone in it for some paint removal on some Action Fleets and had no problems - its worked perfectly. I don't see the harm here.
