Title: Sandtrooper Commando
Post by: Ozz78 on January 21, 2013, 07:04:52 AM
Its been a long while since I posted but I'm back in action now.

I'd like to share a custom Sandtrooper Commando I came up with using the old 1/6th Screamin trooper kit and a bunch of spares from old model kits. As you can see it is inspired by the clone airborne trooper. Base is also custom from old parts and a plaster/sand mix for a touch of Tatooine. Painted with Testors enamels, acrylic wash and pastels.

The first word that came to mind, almost immediately, was "brilliant."  So to expound on that, I have to praise this custom as Utterly Brilliant!  Great use of parts, concept, and paint.  Makes me want to open up some of my Sideshow pieces and customize them!

Looks awesome!  great weathering job and I love the base as well: minimalistic background, but the curved piece in the back adds a nice exotic 'feel'.  Is that a stock base for the figs or did you develop that?

Nice work!

WOW! Way to make a come back! This one is a true work of art and Phatty has so eloquently stated. For starters the sculpt of the original figure is perfect. Your added bits, paint work and weathering look phenomenal! Very well done and I hope you have more to share with us in the future.

Nice work!

I made the base. Its a wood plate from art/craft store, hydrocal and sand for the ground, and the half doorway, curve, whatever is from a base to an old Alien 3 kit.

Anything to do with Sandies gets my attention straight away, You have done an amazing job on the old screamin kit and the added parts and the weathering just make it look brillant. The dio on it's own is excellent but combining the two make the piece exceptional.

Gorgeous custom.  One of the best weathering jobs I've seen.  LOVE your attention to detail!
