Hi guy's, I've all ways wondered who killed Dack Ralter in ESB, was it enemy fire or friendly fire? Watching the movie and that scene it looks like they where hit from behind making me think it was friendly fire. Later on in the battle Luke tell the other pilots to watch that cross fire. So what do you guy's think.
and one more thing, I know they had to use the X-Wings to escort the transports but why did they not use some X-wings to attack the AT-AT, give the Rebel troopers some hope.
-
I always assumed the crossfire to which Luke referred was that of the AT-ATs - focusing on ONE would drift a pilot into the sights of another.
As for why - well, because Lucas isn't a military tactician.
-
I can't say who killed Dack, but as for why they used snowspeeders and not X-Wings, there's one simple answer:
Merchandising :P
-
I always thought it was a Walker blast, but now that I think on it it could have been multiple things.
-
Taken from the Rules of War:
- Friendly fire isn't.

I always thought it was a malfunction in fire control that caused the internal explosion that killed him, not hit at all by anything, just a fluke accident inside the cockpit......so in my opinion it was the mechanic(s) assigned to Lukes speeder

i agree with the post above , if u listen carefully dack warn luke theres a problem with the controls and he is going to try to manually overide it , possibly causing the explosion. but when i was smaller and didnt understand english i also thought it was at-at fire

Merchandising :P
Moichandising! Where the REAL money from the movie is made. ;D

Can't say it confidently that who killed Dack.. :-X
But maybe it was a friendly fire..
-
I think for a rebel ground trooper to kill a snowspeeder gunner in friendly fire they'd have to really be trying hard... or have gone to stromtrooper marksman school. I think it was an AT-ST that had turned around to shoot down the passing speeders. ()rr

Dak killed dak, Luke was about to when it happened anyway. Another theory is that Luke did it cause Dak kept screwing up. LOL.
