hey cool, didn't notice this section was here before! I discovered this blog section of the forum just yesterday.
Hope nobody minds if I have a thread in here too.
-
Have at it. Welcome to the Blog Section.
-
my daughter was sent home sick from school today. flu symptoms. :( just before halloween. she's 5 years old, totally excited about saturday but now she's ill. of course it's better than getting sick just before christmas but it's still crap timing.
P.S. I've had the sniffles and runny nose for weeks. I barely remember anymore what it feels like to be 100% healthy.
-
I hope its not H1N1, I got my daugher (3 yrs.) vaccinated (1st dose) yesterday so I am breathing a bit easier. Well not physically since I have been producing snot is rather large quantities for about three weeks now. Hope Halloween works out for you. I get to take mine trick or treating for the 1st time!
-
Geeze, it sounds like we have all had the bug at some time or another here lately. What's the little one dressing up as, Shawn? And, what are you dressing up as?

Not to jack the thread, but my little girl wants to be a lion this year, but ole Dad has to wear the Vader mask with breather that I bought for her to play with.
-
well she didn't have much of a fever this morning when she woke up and surprisingly she slept most of the night last night by Tylenol helped that. She threw up a bit too, really watery.
it SUCKS when little kids are sick. :-\
I hope she is okay this weekend for trick or treating after her friend's halloween party, Id like to take her. My baby girl (who's certainly not a baby anymore :( ) is going as Wonder Woman. She did get to wear the costume last weekend already for an indoor halloween fair. I got some pictures of her in the red, gold, and blue which I'll post later if anyone's interested.
yes, I still had to come to work today so her grandmother is taking care of her today. But I feel helpless here, I may need to take an early day and go home to her.
-
Tamer, post a picture of you in the Vader mask and her in the lion costume too.
;D
-
Yes, I want to see shots of everyone's halloween costume.
I wish that your little gal would get to feeling better, NFC. I don't want her ailment to ruin her Halloween.
The wifey and I are to be pirates this year, by the way.
-
Tamer, post a picture of you in the Vader mask and her in the lion costume too.
;D
Will do NFC. Hopefully you guys won't see any ooze dripping out of the mask! Hope your gal feels better today when you get home.

NFC, I'm sorry to hear your poor daughter's got a flu bug just before Halloween! The best things for her to do are to eat what she can, drink what she can, and vomit the rest. The vomiting and diarrhea get the bug out of the body, the food and water help build up the immune system and prevent dehydration. Other than that, the flu is the flu, and there aren't any meds out there to remove it.
For those of you who think a flu shot will keep you safe, think again. The flu shot is nothing more than fluent larva injected into your system to allow your body to build up an immunity to it. However, NO 2 flues are the same, period. It mutates from person to person, there are hundreds of thousands of different strains out there, and this new Swine Flu is nothing different. Remember 2 years ago, when Bird Flu was the concern? Where is it now? Next year will be the Feline or Bovine or Canine flu. Something to get us all scared again. Just remember, if it settles in the lungs, get some meds to keep them clear. Otherwise, there REALLY isn't much you can do to prevent or get rid of a flu. For fevers, keep that person cool. No blankets, no extra clothes. Let them shiver it out until the fever breaks. Ice packs help too. If you feel it is a medical emergency, contact your physician, but for the most part, TRY not to flood your local EMERGENCY ROOMS with colds and flues.
There, now that my public service announcement is done, Show them pics of the costumes!
-
The wifey and I are to be pirates this year, by the way.
RRRRGH!!!
Ye to be posting pictures of that costuming endeavor or be fed to the crocs!

yeah as gross as the vomiting is, that DID help her last night. it was all watery but it worked.
ewww LOL
For those of you who think a flu shot will keep you safe, think again.
yeah I came down with the seasonal flu last year a month after I got the flu shot. ::)
skipping it this year because, well, last year soured me on it. and so far I've avoided any flu symptoms this year...
thanks for the up front and really gross explanation, Phatty, I really couldn't stop reading. it was vile and yet fascinating. seriously, it did ease my mind on the topic at any rate.

update: my girl is feeling okay, her fever is gone gone gone
and here's her in her costume:

Any help I can be, I do try! I'm a paramedic, so I'm happy to answer any question I am able, as long as you remember that my thoughts and insight on those problems are no substitute for a doctor's care!
-
Oh, and your daughter as Wonder Woman is freakin' ADORABLE!
-
LOL, that wonder woman costume is awesome. I'm glad that she is feeling better, NFC.
-
Thank you for the kid words on her, the support, and the well wishes. She will be tired but I think she might be okay enough to go back to school today. I'll shee when she wakes up.
As for me, on other other hand, my throat hurts even more that it did yesterday. WTF

NEW BLOG TOPIC: The Secret War
I had some of the toys when I was a kid but it’s because they were cool toys… Until Hasbro started bringing out new 2-figure comic packs to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first ever major crossover for a comic company, I never felt compelled to read The Secret Wars series. I read the two stray issues of the series packed with the Magneto/SM and Spiderwoman/Iron Man sets and that made me realize I need to finally read the Secret Wars storyline all the way through. My comic book geek self has read lots of crossovers from a lot of companies but all these years SW managed to escape me. But how can a self respecting and proud geek really claim to be if you’ve missed the mother of all crossovers that followed!? So, yeah, I had to see why it was such a big deal then and why its still so highly regarded.
The comics with the figures have the ad for the SW Omnibus hardcover with the Alex Ross painted cover on the jacket, cover price of $99.99! Well I found it on Amazon’s Marketplace in NEW condition for $63 so I ordered it. Got it 2 weeks ago, finally started reading it last night, just started part 4…
Man, where the hell was I all these years?
Marvel’s SECRET WAR storyline is TRULY epic. Not the internet trendy vernacular sense of “epic” but it fits the Webster definition of it, like the novels of Gone with The Wind and trilogy of Lord of the Rings did. I can’t believe I never read the series before now. I’m pushing 30 and feel like those rare people my age that admit they managed to miss ALL the Star Wars movies after 30+ years since ANH’s release.
I’m impressed.
-
I sure did like Secret Wars as a kid. That is the comic where you have teams of a few superheroes looking for a part of a gold globe piece correct? I really liked the one where I was introduced to Blitzkrieg if that is the right comic.
-
the secret wars I remember is where the omnipotent being known as the beyonder kidnaps all of the marvel heroes and villans to a remote world to watch battles in between them. This series is known as the origin of Spiderman's black suit.
-
The Secret Wars was an excellent storyline, and one that actually picked back up in a way recently! Stemming from the Civil War that tore the Marvel Universe apart, it was discovered that Skrulls had kidnapped MANY Marvel heroes and villains DECADES ago and have been impersonating them on Earth. It was revealed when Elektra was killed by Wolverine in The New Avengers and Elektra was revealed to have been a Skrull in disguise! The heroes again took up a "Secret War," donning new costumes and such, and defeated the new Skrull invasion.
-
I need to read the Secret Invasion someday too. I'm not crazy about the idea behind it honestly but it has the potential to be cool.
Spiderman is a wuss. There, I said it. He's the only weak link in Secret Wars and the weakest link in every other storyline he's involved in, including his own books. Any chance he was replaced by a Skrull to explain why he's been such a pansy for 40 years? :D
-
LOL! Sadly, no. He was at his strongest during the House of M storyline, where the Scarlet Witch cast a spell which gave every person on the planet the one thign they wanted the most, so Spider-Man was a celebrated hero that everyone loved. Too bad it didn't last long.
-
I'll post a picture of myself in my Halloween costume later today.
it's a simple dress up project but it's gotten some attention here at work since I walked in. LOL
-
I went Amish for Halloween today, went to work in costume

Wow, that is spot on! Great costume.

That is how I had envisioned you anyway, NFC! LOL looks good buddy.

Great costume!

Man, JD everytime yo post about your kid, it makes me feel inadequate as a father, :)
I hope little goldie gets better, man, sick kids are zero fun.
And she'll always be your baby girl, man.
-
Pics up of my costume in the Halloween thread. I went as Darth Steeler this year.
-
I'll probably always call her "baby girl" too no matter how old she gets, I never stopped and she just accepts it :)
Someday I'll be a grandfather and when she brings her little ones to visit they'll probably laugh everytime I call their mom baby girl. LOL

NEW TOPIC: Election Tuesday
I know I know, some people vote some don't, some feel its their duty, some don't care and don't believe in bothering. I hate politicians and politics in general, most get in office and they're so self-serving compared to what they promised, and from the outside it seems like nothing ever gets done and nothing anywhere is ever fixed because nobody in the offices can agree on shit. That said I usually end up voting anyway even if I disgree with all the candidate on everything and my vote might just be for whichever of the bastards I hate the least or the ones who's blatant lies sound more plausible and achievable than the rest of the lies and fibs and bullshit rhetoric. Yep I vote even if up the the day of the election I'm walking around spouting about how I won't bother. 8)
But one of tomorrow's general elections across New York state is whole different ball game for me. Why is that you ask? Because this one, at the county level, I have personal stake in though I'm not directly involved, it's important to me who wins nontheless.
Niagara Falls NY city politics and Niagara County politics is seriously corrupt and despite the completely shit conditions this area exists in, the voters here generally WANT change but they rarely vote to change who's actually in the offices... For every 4 or 5 positions, 1 maybe 2 of the office holders will change and the other assholes seem to win reelection by default or something. Well for the 4th legislative district here, the same idiot has sat in the chair for 18 years. He has never ever tried to move up or run for another office, no, Dennis Virtuoso just keeps running again and again for the same job. He's won every time because he's a classic textbook example of a politician's politician, he know everyone and he's a true 'good old boy' through and through and he does everything he can to make sure the rival candidates are ignored or forgotten on election day. And in that 18 years nothing at all has been accomplished. He talks constantly at great length AND NEVER SAYS ANYTHING. Every public appearance he makes is just to grease the wheels and make sure everyone knows that Virtuoso is still relelvant. Almost 2 decades in the same seat and nothing is any better than it was in 1992 when he took office, everything is worse.
well my FATHER is running against him this time. My 57 year old dad has never ever help a public office of any kind. But he's a concerned citizen who's sick to death of NOTHING ever getting done here in th city and nothing EVER changing for the better. Nothing. My dad has said in interviews and his question and answer debates that he has no intention of becoming a lifelong politician after this... he just wants someone new in the office will bring fresh enthusiasm and some AMBITION to accomplish something.
really who knows what chance he has against the career legislator, the slackass creep in the office now. But all I can do is HOPE my dad has a fighting CHANCE at least. God, even one of my dad's cousins Bob has already apologized he can't vote for the first Onesi to run for country gov't because Bob is too good a friend of Mr Virtuoso! How crappy is that??
P.S. I can't vote for him, I live in the 5th district, ironically (and sadly). But MY sister (dad's campaign manager), her roommate, 2 of my other cousins, 3 of my aunts, 2 of my uncles, and my dad's parents (my grandparents yes) DO live in 4th district so at lease my candidiate father can rely on those few votes.
wish him luck for me, guys, please, even if you don't know him or me or this city.
-
I wish him luck. Sounds like he would be a shoe in to me. What I can't understand is how some folks live in ignorance and just don't realize how horrible some of thier politicians are. It is just like they don't care? It would just be nice to have someone in there who at least would try!
-

exactly. yeah I want my dad in the office but that's because I think he WOULD bring all kinds of fresh energy and plans, plus the other guy is SO stale that he needs to be out and replaced because at this point anything would be an improvement.
-
man, I'd have a slogan like, If I had as many votes as this town has potholes. . .
LOL
Shoot, bury Virtuoso in one.
-
man, I'd have a slogan like, If I had as many votes as this town has potholes. . .
LOL
yes indeed HAHAHA
-
NOTHING in this gods forsaken city will EVER change and certainly will never EVER get better. Today proved it.
He lost
>:(
:(
-
Maybe you should call in the joker.
-
I wish Virtuoso would trip and fall into one of the city's polls and get stuck and just rot there. Let the seagulls take care of the carcass.
-
Sorry to hear he didn't win. I think sometimes we are such a stupic society when it comes to electing officials. Thats pretty bad becuase its my job to educate young people on part of the civic process!
-
Not only did he not win, neither did anyone else I voted for. :-X The one candidate that I wanted to see win that actually DID get voted in was another legislator newcomer that was in another district (though his district line in literally only 4 blocks from my house).
so there is one bright spot in that mess anyways. :)
-
Republicans won't have to wait 11 years to be in power.
-
Sorry to hear your Father didn't win. It's a shame really. Politics have definitely become a dark spot in our Nation. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Democracy is a 200 year old experiment, and the civilized world has been around for 1000s of years. Every day we move closer and closer to a communist state, whether we want to admit it or not. Look at the gas prices, milk prices, and food prices and tell me it's that much different from Soviet Russia where they stand in lines for hours for the chance to snag a loaf of stale bread at prices 10 and 20 times it's worth.

I think you might want to research that statement a little more.
Milk prices have dropped so much that the dairy industry is demanding a bailout. .. which if letting the state save and manage our businesses is communist, well, then yeah.
gas is hardly priced at 10-20 times its worth, ask someone in Europe if 2.50 a gallon is high, lol.
and food, yeah, food is going up, but I judge everything by mcdonalds, until big macs hit five bucks each, I'm not too worried, :)
-
$2.50 a gallon high? you should try living in the u.k. its about £1.05 a liter!
-

Its been generations since we in the US have suffered, lol.
At my poorest, my wife and I split a chicken breast and can of green beans each night for about six months.
At my grandparents worst, they lived on biscuits and whatever they could get out of their garden. . .for about 3 years.
oh, but they had commodities. . .I'm not sure what those are, but I'm thinking gov't staples.
So I'm hard pressed to complain, I've had a great life, so far, not rich, at all, lol, but I get by just fine.
-
my grandmother is hospitalized in bad shape. she signed a DNR order this morning...
:'(
-
Man, I'm really sorry to hear that, JD.
I'll pray for your family in this difficult time.
-
Daggone, hate to hear that.
-
sorry to hear that dude
-
Sorry to hear about your grandmother, NFC.
-
Nana's "stable" today
that's totally relative use of the word stable but she's not on the brink anymore. but she's still in ICU and will be for a few days under very intense obsevation,
she is concious and aware of the world, even asked to have TNT swicthed on the TV so she could watch L&O so that IS some good news... but she's breathing with a machine, there's fluid being drainde from her lungs, she's on morphine for pain, and her heart valve that was weak before the heart attack that sent her the hospital is pretty much kaput now.
I'll keep you guys updated, thanks for the support
-
That's very sad to hear. I hope she get's better.
-
Sorry to hear that, were pulling for your family.
-
I think she's on her way out... her pacemaker is keeping her heart rate steady but her breathing is labored even on the machine, and her blood pressure is all over the place shifting way up to way down.
the nurses said she probably doesn't have long. the whole damn family is at the hospital
-
Daggone, if prayer helps my entire Church was doing that for her and your family today. My thoughts are with you and your family NFC.
-
Thank you very much, Tamer, it's quite a comfort to read that. I'll keep y'all updated.
-
hey, guys, she died a few hours ago, she finally let go. I'm assuming and have faith that she's back with my grandfather that dies almost a year ago too. :'(
-
i'm sorry to hear that NFC my condolences my friend
-
I'm sorry, NFC. She is in a better place now.
-
Extending my condolences NFC. As Clint said she is in a better place now.
-
Sorry to hear that guy, prayers are with you and your family.
-
NFC, sorry to hear that. Prayers said for you and your family.
-
Yeah, she's better off now, definitely. I lost my grandfather, her husband, last year almost this time too so I know she's back reunited with him again and that makes me smile.
But still of all the people in my family, I was closest to Nana. While I help her hand in the hospital yesterday, though she wasn't conscious, I like to believe she knew I was there, and knew she was surrounded by everyone who's left from my mom's side of the family, we were all together.
thanks, all the members for ISY, for the support.
-
I am sorry to hear about your Nana.
-
Our deepest condolences to you and your family, times like these are never easy but look back at the fond memories and know she is in a better place.
-
I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts.
-
well, her struggle is over and she's with the King, now, so take peace in her triumph, my friend.
I'm still really sorry to hear it, its always hard losing someone we love. I'm thinking of you guys today.
-
my condolences to you and your family mate... i am so sorry to hear....

NEW TOPIC: Star Wars on NPR
so who's listened to the National Public Radio dramatizations of the OT? and who's missed out?
I highly HIGHLY recommend everyone hear them at least once, they enrich the story of ANH and ESB so much because they have a lot more substance than can be fit into 2.5 hour long movies. Brian Daley's adaptation and expansion of the stories is massive and very very impressive, and all the voice work is well done too (shit, Mark Hamil, Billy Dee Williams, and Anthony Daniels all do their own character work again for the radio shows).
I'm a huge fan of the shows, I discovered their existence when I was a teenager and listened to the hell out of those tapes for years after, nearly wore them out. In college I finally got the ANH set on CD but its been through the hell of travel and back over the last 7 years and one of the discs has become misplaced, forever gone. And I don't have a tape player anymore in my car so I can't even listen to ESB (while I'm driving is pretty much the only time I ever listen to music or audio books).
Well, I love the series so much that I just can't do without them anymore. So I got online last weekend and ordered a new copy of the Star Wars CD set and my first (hopefully only) copy of the Empire Strikes Back CD set. Looking much forward to getting those next week.
P.S. There IS a Return of the Jedi series too but it's way inferior. Though Mr. Daley did a superb job scripting it again (in one if his last writing gigs before he died), it FAILS in almost all other areas. The JEDI show was put together in the mid 90s under a much smaller budget than the other 2 got in the early 80s so its short in running time with 3 fewer episodes than ESB and its short on a lot of subtance the other two dramazations had... though it does make some references to event in Shadows of the Empire which makes me happy. Plus coming out almost 13 years after NPR aired ESB meant the original movie actors (aside from the ubiquitous A Daniels of course) were disinterested in reprising Luke and Lando again and their replacement voice actors just couldn't hold a candle, they sucked. All around the ROTJ NPR series is a disappointment.
-
I need to listen to this.
-
I have listened to these and I agree they are great, I have the radio drama for SW and had the EBS version from the library. I should re rent them and download them to my comp.
-
NFC got me into these a little while back, I'll admit, I've litened to ANH and its great. I like the imperial guy they add, a governor or something.
I'll try and locate empire at some point.
I wouldn't mind listening to dune on audio, as I spend a lot of time in the car, lol.
-
Does anyone know when these are gonna be aired again or is this for sale on CD? I would love to listen to them at least ANH and TESB.
-
I need to listen to this.
yes you really really do
Does anyone know when these are gonna be aired again or is this for sale on CD? I would love to listen to them at least ANH and TESB.
I suppose I could rip them to my computer and burn copies of both of them for you, chief
-
Well now, is it Xmas in November or what? I hate to make you go to all that trouble, but I ain't gonna say no NFC. Thanks alot!
-
okay :)
I just need to get more blank CDs for it first.
-
You guys wanting these, you can check with your local libraries, Mine carry most of the SW audio books on tape and or CD, you maybe able to borrow them and pop them into your comps for the copies ;)
-
Thats a great idea, NFC I can try that before you buy cds, which I meant to add I would gladly pay for!
-
try that and let me know. if it doesn't pan out (the libraries here have some Star Wars audio novels but not the radio shows) then I'll burn 'em for you.
I have a feel once Simon reads this he'll probably want a copy of ESB anyway.
-
Thats a great idea, NFC I can try that before you buy cds, which I meant to add I would gladly pay for!
so, Phatty, have you had a chance to check the library?
-

I haven't been able to find em. My libraries are pretty small here in the sticks of WV!
-
yeah, burn the empire for me, man!
Also, I guess...I'm ready to ship to NY, so you can stop being all sad, :)
Another figure in your box, grey hulk, bleh!!! 12 bucks for this guy? bleh!
-
Tamer, dude, I mixed you up with Phatty in my last post! I'm sorry, chief. Is that the cold wind of embarrassment all around me? why yes yes it is. :-[
yeah, burn the empire for me, man!
see? just as I figured
-
LOL. I am sure I do that once or twice a week! Once you decide to burn, if you do, I would love to send some dollars so I could pay for any cost you might incur by doing this for me and a little something for your trouble.
-

Whenever the CD sets are delivered to me, I'll get them ripped to the computer then I'll go buy some blank CDRs to burn them.
-
Sweet deal.
-
the ESB radio show set arrived at my house yesterday! man, it's nice to hear it again
-

Cool deal, I wonder if there is any way to load it up digitally so you could just upload it to the internet. Scratch that, it would violate all kinds of copyright and protection laws I guess.

You left out it would just tax our connections, :)

not to mention I have no idea how I would even find out how to do that. I may not be inept with technology but I'm certainly not inclined for it either.

NEW TOPIC: put on your skates
My daughter is starting ice skating lessons this week and she's excited. Of course she's scared too, it's new to her but her best friend started 2 weeks ago so I think he'll help her along when the instructors are watching them practice. Got her skates, helmet, and pads yesterday for it. I have no doubts she'll take to the skating like a natural after a couple lessons too, she already dances around ever chance she gets, so maybe once she starts to really know how to skate she'll just combine the two into one graceful activity.
I might actually be more nervous about it than she is though, because she's my little girl and ice is slippery PLUS I've never been on ice skates before myself so I have like double the anxiety for it. LOL
ahhhh parenthood O0
-
Remove those figure skates and slap on some Ice Hockey skates! Get her suited up and teach her how to level someone at center ice! LOL! Ice is expensive to maintain, so be prepared for fees! Still, it's fun!
-
oh I actually got her skates at a hockey supply store so she COULD play it someday, her helmet is the hockey helmet with the gate over her face.
yeah I'd like to see her ice dance or something but somehow I think learning to skate in boy skates without the girly toe pick under the toe seems like she'll become a better and much more versatile skater if she learns to stop herself.

ice skating builds wicked muscles, man, so watch out!
its kind of like in line skating, so if you ever did that, you can probably ice skate, at least somewhat.
Hockey? what is that, Canadian Football?
-
first time on the ice
;D
-
Awww, how cute!
Simon, don't you be going around making fun of Hockey, or I'll have to come and show you how it's done!
Funny enough, I've played Roller Hockey for about 13 years now, and am a very good skater and can stop on a dime. However, when it comes to ice, I can skate like the wind but cannot stop to save my life! Can't figure it out.

She looks well protected.

Man, I'd be biting my fingers off watching my kid on ice, :(
Phatty, I played roller hockey in college and one of my best friends plays in local leagues...it just isn't hockey. Hockey to me is more like soccer, sure its sounds cool, but 2 hours later I'm bored.
-
I can watch NHL games on TV but I'll only watch if the Sabres are playing and I rarely do actually watch unless I'm out someplace while the game is on then I watch and cheer and yell at the TV. Someday I will try to go to a game to see it live.
street hockey just isn't hockey
-
Street hockey is way different than roller hockey. And while roller hockey is on a different surface, it's STILL hockey! The only real difference is no checking, which actually makes the defense's job more difficult because it forces them to think a bit and predict the reactions of the opponent.
Ya HAVE to go to a live game. They're so much fun. Especially when 2 good teams are playing one another.
-
soooo who's done with their Christmas shopping?
who still has gifts left to buy but they've made progress?
and who hasn't even started yet?
I still have some stuff to buy yet for various people but at least I'm not way behind on the gift shopping this year. I tell ya what, I can't f'ing believe Christmas is only nearly a month away. Jesus, where did 2009 go?
-
Not only am I more than half done, Nfc, but due to the parents going out of town for the winter, we had our Christmas with them early and half my gifts have already been givin.
It feels good getting that much of it out of the way but was a bit hectic picking of all up that early.
-
Jesus, where did 2009 go?
Let me know if he answers.
FOr me, I have a lot of gifts for my kids, most of my friends that live around here, and I've got both my secret santas stuff done(second one is getting mailed monday). I just need a neat gift for my wife, my step dad, my father and his wife, yada yada, then I'll be done, :)

Well, not much Christmas shopping for me to do, as I'm not the parental figure of the family, but I might pick my brother and parents up something once I find out what they want.

NEW TOPIC: christmas music
who likes it? who doesn't? who actually likes it but knows they'll end up loathing it by the time the shinny happy day is actually here? who doesn't care in the least or even celebrate christmas at all?
I'm in the 3rd group.
-
LOL wow what a Grinch!!! :P count me in the 2nd option....
-
I love it early on, like the first couple weeks after TG, but over exposure in the 30 days before the actual day its observed, where you can't go anywhere or turn on the TV or radio without hearing it, will inevitably have me looking forward to to the 26th or 27th when it will finally stop and I can say "ahhh, only 11 more months until the hubbub starts up all over again"

I personally hate that Christmas has been turned into a consumer fest/greed workshop. But, now we have kids, so our challenge is to give the kids a good Christmas without turning them into little give me give me jerks.
I like Christmas music ok, my favorite right now is Joseph's lullabye, I'll be honest, it really gets to me, especially when he wants just one night for his kid to just be a little boy, :(
dang it, now I gotta go man up my life to make up for this teary moment, :)
-
I forgot this was here till the other day when I was looking all over the forum for my post about about the radio shows and I discovered it was in a one my blogs, not in one of the SW discussion boards. ^-^ :o
anyways, Tamer bothe radio shows are burned for you. Narceron, your copy of ESB is underway right now.

it's 2010!!
good riddance 2009

good riddance 2009
I second that sentiment. 2009 had it's good points as far as interesting media and toys but other than that, bleah.
-
i'll be glad to see the back of 2009 one of the worst years iv'e ever had

one of the worst for me too, I'm trying to forget it altogether now

the new year brought us snowfall beginning in the evening of new years day. And it ain't really stopped yet. Nearly 18 f'in inches of it. Shovelled this morning but its still coming down.
went to bed in snowy western new york last night, woke up this morning across the galaxy and time on Hoth (or Orto Plutonia maybe)
-
We are nearly in the same boat, NFC. It snowed 3 more inches on us since last night and we are supposed to really get dumped on Wed. I think that the highest temp forecast for next week is to be 15.
-
I'm getting used to going out in the 10 to 15 F temps now, by Feb when that's the whole month's high in F it'll seem almost comfortable
sad LOL
-
it's still snowing
-
its 19 here and thats the high for the week, :(
-
so far the snow has missed me thank the maker. We have been forecast to get a bunch, but nothing yet. Supposedly Thursday night is our night to get hit again.

http://www.digitalspy.com/movies/news/a186325/teaser-trailer-clash-of-the-titans.html
I've never seen the original but I will next month before my girlfriend and I go to see that bad ass looking new one. Man, that trailer is f'ing awesome looking!
-
Oh yeah, buddy, you have to see the original. It's a classic from my youth. As I recall, isn't there some stop action animation by Ray harryhousin in that flick. "misspelled his name, I'm sure"
-
Oh yeah, it is stop action and not so good as far as SE for today's age, but was awesome when it first came out. I loved the Kraken.
-
so I saw Avatar for the 2nd time today with my girlfriend, happily contributing a drop in the bucket of its HUGE box office take
if you haven't seen it yet, you have to go, you MUST.
if you have seen it, I will say it is well worth seeing again, it's just as a great.
-
I agree, I just couldn't tell where the CG stopped and the real frames were added in!
-
I read Star Wars: Jedi Trial by David Sherman and Dan Cragg a few years ago and I enjoyed it so I'm re-reading it now and recommending it. It's a severly and unfairly overlooked novel in the saga that chronicles of the hundreds of conflicts fought in the War and its told mostly from the viewpoint of a non-Republic military force so its a different spin on what we're used to. Anakin is still a padawan in it, its the story that leads to the Council's decision to Knight him. He travels with a purely EU rooted Jedi Master to a small world to fight a battle with 4 military forces at work.
The timeline of it has been thrown off by TCW cartoon just like the timeline of so much the Clone Wars literature (novels and comics) so I just think of this book now as taking place before TCW movie.
who's read it?
you should if you haven't.
-
Hmm....I just finished the new Imperial Commando and since we won't be getting another of those I guess I should branch out a bit.
