Head unit almost complete:)
-
More shots!
-
Thank you so much for posting those shots
Here. Fantastic work so far!
-
Looks great is there an interior or just an empty box?
-
No interior , due to the need for a complete support system from head to rear of body , this will be extremely heavy !
-
Wow nice! The details are coming along...
Question what materials are you using? Is it polystyrene sheets or something else?
-
I want to cry everytime I see this! It is just that good.
HALCION it is great to see this here!
I must say it looks awesome on our front page!
-
I've been following this work on FB and I am very impressed. Did you use a heat gun or something to warm the styrene to get those nice bends?
I am disappointed to see that there will be no interior. I also feel like it might be a tad bit undersized, as the cockpit should be able to hold at least 4 drivers and the neck section is supposed to be tall enough for a person to walk through... That being said, we are all so used to seeing underscaled version of the at-at that it's completely ok! To undertake such a huge build you'd almost have to make it smaller than it should be just to manage it!
The work you've done so far is impressive. I also enjoyed seeing pics of your at-st. I'd like to see more detailed pictures of it if you have them. Especially of the legs.
Are you making either of those articulated? Or are they static pieces?
-
This is exciting. You have obviously made other miniatures before.
How tall will it be, when it's completed.
-
This same customizer also made an awesome AT-ST in the same scale that was off the charts awesome and very accurate.
-
Mate welcome and this is just stunning so far and can't wait to see more.
Ron
-
Hey man welcome! Im super excited to see your progress!
-
No heat gun used , no dremel used, mainly xacto blade and super glue, height will be around 5 1/2 ft,no articulation as this will weigh a lot !
-
Scale is accurate , plenty of room for 4+ in cockpit if I were to have done the interior .
-
Could you talk more about your process? Are you building from a template or are you doing it by eye? The scale is awesome, it will be one HUGE piece of work when complete..
Would you share your process? So that others could duplicate? (or try at least?) I never liked reinventing the wheel :P
-
Doing everything by eye and by hand , I've saved a handful of images from image searches and added my own design elements into it without deviating too far from the original VER:
-
This looks simply amazing. The detail is fantastic. I'm impressed that you are doing this simply with visual references. Looking forward to more! Keep up the excellent work.
-
Wow, really enjoying those chin guns. Looks perfect. I believe I saw a finished one beside a wip one on FB and just love the parts you used! Off to share yet again!
-
This is unbelievable! The fact that you are doing this by eye ...outstanding. I look forward to seeing more updates as well as the finished project !
-
Internal neck mount added :)
-
Side turrets almost done .
-
#2 compartment added to top of cockpit
-
Primed!
-
Head almost done, only rear neck panel is left!
-
Just more stunning work mate.
Ron
-
This looks great on the front page. Can't wait to see more work.
-
Scale is accurate , plenty of room for 4+ in cockpit if I were to have done the interior .
I stand corrected! (and I'm happy about that). For whatever reason, it might be the angle, it looked smaller to me in those first few photos. Your recent set definitely set the scale better for it.
I love the neck adition! I hope that you at least build in a compartment into the body which can be opened and a few figures placed inside. It's a real shame not to have some playability with the inside of this monster!
I would also customize a couple tie pilots into drivers if I were you!
If you didn't use any kind of heat gun to bend the plastic then I am uber impressed with the bends you've achieved. I can't wait to see more of this monstrosity!
-
The inside will require a serious support system due to the xtreme weight , however there will be a Hoth Luke tossing an explosive in his belly:)
-
For scale fun!
-
Your additions are both quick and very professional looking.
At this rate, you will have the body built by November.
-
Already started on body!
-
I really can not wait to see this completed !
-
Just over 5 1/2 ft long !phase #2 begins!
-
yet again mate awesome work.
Ron
-
Wow, this thing is gonna be huge. I am loving it! Off to share this update on the pages.
-
Inside the AT-AT's Studio!
-
Rear hull inner frame done !
-
Top front of hull done !
-
Primer test !
-
Front hull section almost done !
-
I am loving every minute of this build. New update on the front page. I hope I get to do an update each day and wow you have really come along on this. I guess I kind of expected this one to perhaps take a year or at least months to finish, but the way you are going you will be finished by the weekend!
-
Oh yeah, there is some momentum going there. Man, grab some sleep when you can but please, keep going.
-
Nah, don't worry about sleep as long as you are producing firepower of this magnitude!
-
That's why I have my muse to keep me going!
-
The story so far!
-
Amazing. I still think that if you engineer it just right you might be able to get some play-room out of that middle section.
I'm thinking you should use some lightweight metal rods for support in the frame. You can get all-thread at any hardware store that you can the use with a series of nuts to hold things together with... Just throwing out some ideas.
I can't wait to see how you attach the legs. That will intrigue me most about this entire build.
By the way, I really appreciate you taking the time to take WIP shots of this build. It makes it so much better. I love being able to see a project come together and so many people only post finished product photos online with no WIP shots. WIP pics makes the entire thing seem even more impressive!
-
This is coming along brillantly and your eye for detail is execellent, I can't wait to see more updates.
Ron
-
Thanks guys, yes I'll be doing way more inner support beams, as far as play value, it is more of a prop replica showpiece as I'm still trying to make it flow w the 6" toy series, once you do too much detail and weathering it make the figures and surrounding props look unbalanced.this will be so heavy I won't be doing any playing w it, aside from the final diorama, wich will have a Snowspeeder and Luke tossing a bomb in its belly :)
-
Wow! Unbelievable build, and so fast! Just incredible! I know you're doing this at 6" scale but it would be perfect for 3-3/4"!!!
Welcome to the Yards.
-
It's actually in perfect scale w the 6" line,I've gone over so much material of the walker that it's only off by a very unnoticeable percent !
-
I am really enjoying this. Keep it coming. Back to the front page.
-

Totally understandable.
So are you going to be making a 6" scale snowspeeder from scratch as well? Awesome.
-
I cannot wait to see this in its final form and a crashed snowspeeder with Luke doing the whole belly bomb thing will be priceless.
-
Doing the last hull piece today , then tomorrow I will add the coverings and mechanics !
-
Getting lost for words over this mate just briilant work indeed.
Ron
-
Just a great way to start the day.
-
Thanks I'm trying to not lose the momentum on this build!
-
I too am speechless ! I cant believe how much you get done when when you put up your next post just Incredible
-
Working on exterior body armor and exposed mechanics today.
-
Making progress on the outer hull paneling, taking things a little bit slow so I can pace myself.
-
Great eye for detail mate, awesome work.
Ron
-
Looks awesome. Back to the front page.
-
Looks fantastic! I love the attention you're giving to all the little panels and wiring.
-
The Hull story so far!
-
More!
-
AT-AT build cancelled due to engine failure and Luke's badassness!
-
Rear hull paneling almost done!
-
My comments are on the front page. Wow, it sounds great.
-
Damn this is impressive work and the fire ball looks execelent.
Ron
-
Just caught up with your amazing build! Man, hats off to you for taking on such a huge project! She looks great and I love all the photos you are sharing. Really love the last set that shows us your work before painting. Please share more like that if you can make time. Man how tall will this be, around 5 feet? It is going to take some strong legs to hold this baby up. Well done man!
-
Rear armor and casing!
-
Nice. nice. nice. It looks great on the front page.
I can't wait to see how you handle the weight of this with the legs.
-
Impressive as always and loving the details.
Ron
-
...as already one of my friends said: "...impressive, most impressive..."
It looks great !!!
-
Wonderous Maximus
-
all kinds of awesome.
-
Rear hull is almost done!
-
Such a great scratch build.
The explosion is a beautiful touch. How is that done?
Nice greeble work in that open hatch.
-
Thanks, the explosion was a test effect for the final diorama, it is an LED w cottonball!
-
You can read my comments on the front page. You are just doing this such great justice.
-
Again Just at a loss for words that will do this justice ! The detail is phenomenal !
-
Hull almost done, and beginning under hull drive system!
-
Front drive has been assembled :)
-
OMG brilliant use of PVC pipe fittings! I was scratching my head about what you'd wind up using for that part.... simply awesome
-
Oh yeah! Simply explosive detail, the undercarriage is going to enjoy a bunch of it.
-
Brandon, I think you ought to run for president. Wow, this is great. What a neat way to use PVC to give this the support for both the body and legs. Having worked with that size PVC in my own house (think two inch is what I see) this really ought to support the weight.
What can I say, its time to share again!
-
I knew PVC piping was good for customizing as I've used it before but damn mate you take it a whole new level.
Ron
-
Thank you, we here at HALCION LABS stand by our Moto,we are next level business!
-
I too Agree you have taken this to a new level ! I an very interested to see how your approach will be to adding the legs !
-
Boss is here for inspections!
-
Time for a new front page update. I hope the boss approves!
-
Well if the boss doesn't approve I know that the members here do awesome work yet again.
Ron
-
Drive systems in place!
-
Wow, that looks great. So looking forward to seeing you start the legs for this. Getting into the home stretches.
Its time for update number 13 on the front page!
-
Got to agree with Shawn this is looking great and I also can't wait to see you start the legs and see what you use to do them.
Ron
-
Yes I am a man of few words, it's mainly due to the fact that when I'm taking a 5 min smoking break or running around trying to keep up w my boys is the time when I post pics.So please understand I'm not trying to be nondescript about this build, it's just that I'm already on Fast forward and I think the pics give enough info for the viewers to see how I've been creating this, thank you all for the kind words and patience:)
-
Btw, I've just run into some major engineering issues and this is already extremely heavy, so as far as the legs I'll have to really make sure there secure and sturdy !
-
Trust me, we just appreciate what you share.
I am hoping I can get you onto Custom Action Figure News to perhaps talk about this when the dust has settled on it a bit. Keep it coming Brandon!
-
Full neck and head support system in place and secured !
-
Pretty cool to see the insides of this and how its all going together. Off to share.
-
I was wondering how you were going to secure it, thanks for showing us how you are doing it.
Ron
-
that support is pretty much what i pictured when I suggested allthread. Although I pictured more to be honest!
-
Its still not big enough.
Cant wait to see how yoy do the legs might help me with my creative block on a walker im doing.
-
Well with neck securment out of the way , I can finish the outer hull and body details, I also will need to do a back wall for the head and rear neck passageway ,I've added the underbelly details and will continue to add more, the legs and feet will be solid resin with steel rods , not there yet!
-
Science Bitches!
-
Those X-wing engines you have hidden under it are they from the new Xwing?
-
Yes those are parts from the new X-Wing!
-
Yes those are parts from the new X-Wing!
Well i guess thats the only reason to buy that waste of plastic is for greeblies for a huge AT-AT
-
You got that right! And it's funny cause I haven't even used 90% of the stuff I bought to rip apart, this is mainly all scratch built, anyways on w the show!
-
So far I have done the front hull complete side seal, the back venting and started planning the upper leg!
-
Prime test!
-
:)
-
Nice. Off to share.
-
More side armor and body work taking place!
-
Sicker than a dog right now, but had to get this on the front page.
-
Thanks,feel better !
-
The AT-AT is coming together so nicely. I love watching this build.
Is the AT-AT driver finished too? He looks great!
Any plans on making 6" General Veers? I've noticed there are plenty of Dagobah Lukes on the pegs.
-
Again amazing details mate.
Ron
-
No Vheers yet , however I did do a AT-ST driver Marquand !
-
Still not feeling so hot, but wow more great work equals another front pager.
-
Just amazing as always ! Really like the AT-ST Driver ! However i like everybody else on here cant wait to see the AT-AT fully assembled and complete for what is sure to be the most talked about custom !
-
Ok so whole head and body are done minus a few rear engine parts and side ports, the head and body are base coated and are ready for weathering treatment and airbrush , I will take a few days off after painting to plan the legs stability and cost efficiency , thanks for following and the very kind words!
-
This is looking awesome.
Ron
-
Wow, she is sure taking paint nice too. I don't know what I am gonna do with myself when this is done. Off to the front page again.
-
Wow, she is sure taking paint nice too. I don't know what I am gonna do with myself when this is done. Off to the front page again.
You will probably beg your wife to let you buy it lol. I dont think anyone would blame either. My question is what paint are you using?
-
She's got legs, well almost. Making 1 master leg in 4 different pieces then will cast them, this is the top to knee portion of the leg so far !
-
Upper leg is almost ready for putty sealing and I've begun lower leg aswell:)
-
Looks like its time for the twentieth front page update.
-
Lower leg and ankle masters are done, I have started the foot and toe for molding aswell:)
-
That is true dedication. You make it look easy but I know it was mind blowing at times. Like the side turrets are perfectly spherical I don't know how you did it but it looks amazing.
-
Thanks!, side turrets are puck LED dome caps:)
-
Its hard to believe this is gonna be the 21st front page update. You have come so far so fast with such an unbelievable quality that it is almost magic. Perhaps it is. You keep sharing and so will I.
-
Thanks TAMER! This build will be on pause until I get the molding and casting supplies obtained, as they are pretty pricey and I have four solid resin legs and feet to make it will be the longest wait , if I do any other work before casting I will most definetly update and share, thanks for your support and belief in the HALCION HOTH SQUAD:)
-
Again mate you have done an amazing job so far and I for one can't wait for you restart this project.
Ron
-
I saw some leg pics on Facebook. He is getting there. Wow, it looked tall!
-
Thought I posted em, here ya go!
-
Wow, it is so awesome to see this standing.
-
Well not standing yet , but a test shot to get an idea of the hieght , still waiting to make the molds for resin legs :)
-
Wow that's out-standing.
-
I needed a vehicle to go with my HOTH Scout, so I drew inspiration from the breathing unit on the face of the biker scout for this more powerful and arctic terrain savy beast!
-
This is a WIP !
-
That thing is wicked sick!!
-
"An engine with a seat."
Very apropos.
-
WOW the walker is coming along brillantly and the speeder looks stunning.
Ron
-
HALCION for president! That would get folks out to the polls. Man, you are just a head shaker. Looks stunning.
This speeder was designed from a leaked Episode 7 image I think?
Get ready for the front page again.
-
Muscle-Speeder.
You need one more picture of a voluptuous female action figure in a bikini stretched out languidly over the hood.
-
First wash added!
-
HSS is complete!
-
Just stunning work mate.
Ron
-
That is pretty daggone awesome. Off to share.
-
I see some sandtrooper back pack, giant X-wing engines, the scout bike and orange juice lid...not sure about the other stuff.
-
Final HSS and pilot pics !
-
This is stunning ! You are truly on fire here with your work excellent work again !
-
Another update on the front page. Man that thing looks tough!
-
Hello, Im late to the party. Is this 6 inch as well? Its blinding!
-
Truly awesome work on display here! Just caught up with all the action on your AT-AT ! Most impressive! One thought, when you cast the legs you can add a thin layer of styrofoam in the center to save on resin. I have done it in a few large pieces. Also love the 6 inch speeder you designed! Love that you based it on the nose design of the scout trooper helmet! It shows and works at the same time. Great use of parts cobbled together for a cohesive design. Also liking the weathering but would love to see the engines and other bits dirtied up a bit like the outer skin is. Can't wait to see your next update!
-
Thanks, the legs must be solid to support the weight of the upper body wich is at about 130lbs already !
-
Thanks, the legs must be solid to support the weight of the upper body wich is at about 130lbs already !
Wow, you said it was gonna be heavy. I know you are thinking about all angles when it comes to the legs, but I wonder if some rebar might be the ticket for support when you pour the resin. I cannot wait to see another image update here.
-
Dang, 130 lbs! Like Tamer said a steel rod would work but all resin may even be cheaper. Can't wait to see more!
-
I've been hiding on Dagobah for all this time and it's good to come back and to see this amazing work, looking forward to seeing it finished.
-
AT-AT project re activated : I've done the leg casts and done the first wash apps on the body , I will keep updating as I make more parts for the feet !
-
Exceptional work as always buddy and I can't wait to see the snowspeeder.
Ron
-
Man that looks good on our front page.
So excited to see this continue. The leg you are showing us here seems perfectly in scale with what I remember from the big screen. Bravo sir!
-
HALCION 6" SNOWSPEEDER WIP : can't have an AT-AT without one of these!
-
All hand painting done on canopy!
-
The speeder canopy looks amazing already.
Ron
-
You can read more of my comments on the front pages.
-
Here's what I've done so far on this , the wash on this is only the first phase of paint apps :)
-
Oh my, this snow speeder is perfect! Very nice work once again!
-
This is looking great on our pages. Man, how I wish Hasbro would make a few of these.
-
I have added some new parts and have begun parts placement for interior of cockpit !
-
Update on the front page!
-
Back Side is almost done and will begin the underbelly and airbrush apps as soon as the main cannons are done.
-
Stunning work once again! That harpoon gun with tow cable is to die for!
-
As always Brandon stunning work mate.
Ron
-
Can you adopt me? Daggone, but this is awesome. Off to share.
-
The end is near!
-
Brandon you never disappoint mate, stunning work as always.
Ron
-
Wow, nice. The cannons light up too!
Off to share.
-
This is so impressive sir!!!
-
Play time!
-
Just love it.
-
I have only two questions one whats the cockpit details made from? And how do you finish these monsters so quickly?
-
I have only two questions one whats the cockpit details made from? And how do you finish these monsters so quickly?
I was thinking the same thing. (http://www.cosgan.de/images/midi/konfus/g040.gif) (http://www.cosgan.de/smilie.php)
I would love to watch you applying the paint detailing to your vehicles. Do you use an airbrush or free hand? Also, are you painting them during the assembly process?
-
Answers : as far as the cockpit , the chair is from scratch and the rest is xtra sprue from many old kits.i do all my first phase painting by hand and as I build, the airbrushing comes at the end of the build :)
-
I have to say again you are on fire !! I myself also wonder how you get these done so quickly ? can only imagine what you have planned after the AT-AT
-
I'm going in! Almost done w this , just a few more paint apps and decals.
-
Amazing paint work on those! Wow!
-
Custom stand bieng made:)
-
The cockpit is killer!
-
Man, that cockpit is spectacular. It's a shame to have to hide it when the cowl is down.
-
6"SNOWSPEEDER by HALCION complete.
-
Had to get this on the front page. Happy Thanksgiving!
-
I am just at a loss for words ! Just amazing !!! Happy thanksgiving
-
Thanks, and happy Thanks giving to you all!
-
Good Lord.
This thread is an amazing display of talent and ambition. Each one of these builds is a staggering achievement. I'm just...speechless! Amazing and inspiring stuff.
-
Stunning work as always mate.
Ron
-
Halcion,
I'm just getting caught up on posts on the site after a couple of months. Your work is amazing, such care given to the details. I'm absolutely blown away by your talent. Keep up the fantastic and inspiring work!
-
HALCION 6" EP 7 SPEEDER & Ridley WIP update!
-
Sensational work Brandon.
Ron
-
My comments are on the front page.
-
very impressive
-
I'm not sure if you've stated it and I missed it, but what material do you use to make stuff like the imperial walker and the speeders?
Is that like styrene sheets, or some other material?
I've been wanting to build something, but the material isn't cheap. I've resorted to buying some "for sale" signs from walmart...but even that wasn't cheap at over 2 bucks per sheet.
-
Thanks, and as far as matierials the for sale PVC signs are the best bet, don't get cheap on your own art, and $2 is not expensive, the PVC for sale signs come in different thickness and are way cheaper than official plastistruct sheets,I also do an inner frame made from balsa wood or a really hard cardboard, unless you have all the needed supplies laying around you will need to spend some cash on supplies, but it's all so worth it:)
-
You find the pvc ones were? Walmart lowes home depot?
-
KIRA SOLO finished !
-
Sensational work mate.
Ron
-
Brandon for president of Hasbro! And I mean it!
More comments on the front page.
-
Your work on Kira, her droid & speeder are jaw-dropping! I've kept coming back just to admire what an awesome job you've done on her.
I'm curious: what material did you use to craft her hood/shawl/cape? Looks like some of the material is pliable, but the folds make me think that you also (possibly) used some part of a pre-existing Marvel cape, etc. (like the Hope Summers one)...
Outstanding stuff; can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve!
-
Wow!
Just ...... wow!
The detail and paint apps on all three is just astounding.
-
impressive work.
-
Not only am I impressed with how quick this was completed after the trailer was released, this is by far some sensational work! It looks as if this was produced by a toy company - its that good! Seriously, if you didn't tell me this was a custom I wouldn't know.
I echo Tamer's comments. Brandon for president of Hasbro!
-
Not only am I impressed with how quick this was completed after the trailer was released, this is by far some sensational work!
Not that I wouldn't vote you in tpp, but you startes that honkin massive speeder before the trailer premiered. Plus you got a lot of impressive sculpting done in just a few days. I'm still awe struck, but you've got to to either an extremely gifted professional or you had reference images way before the general public did.
Again.
I am still awestruck.
Keep it coming, please.
-
Awesome work all around. Impressive.
