Here is my Venator from Revell. This is no easy kit you have to glue and paint this thing. Revell also made a easy kit version of it.
It doesn't come with a stand so I made one by my own.
I hope you like it.
YouTube video for more details:
-
Part 2 with more detail-pics
-
Wow, all that small detail work is amazing. Guess I am gonna have to fp this one tomorrow. Nice work!
-
Wow, FF, that is sweet! How long did that take you to do?
-
Very nice build up of this kit, FF! Ii have this same kit but haven't gotten around to building it yet. The paintwork looks good.
I never seen the snap version.

Thanks mate.
As I said before nice to be here on the Yards
-

Thanks
It took me about two weeks to finish it. The model was quiet easy to build but the stand cost a lot of time.
I hope Revell brings out stands with the new easy kits.

Awesome man! Great job.
-
Great job I love this model and ship!!
-
that paint job and weathering is indeed quite awesome.
And I like the addition of your own stand for it.
Very nicely done.

Egad, Jules, that is a kick arse pic. FF, I belive that you have just been hangerbay'd.
-
Now then I'm confused...Is it a Venator or is it a Venerator? if it's the latter then cool, if not TAMER YOU POODOO HEAD, you spelled it wrong on the FP and I copied your text into the image.....If I've made a type it's your fault!!
-
omg this is so awesome, very very very cool wallpaper. :o
Thanks a lot guys, comes straight on my desktop
ok now I see it. The correct name is Venator but it's not a big deal
-
I'm glad you like it FF, I've been dying to do a space scene and your ship is perfect.
If you ever do any more models like this please PM me and link me to your post, I'd love to see more, you'd pretty much be assured of my Seal of Approval....
-
See what I found
Two vehicles from the new Revell easy kit line. The V-19 Torrent Starfighter and the Delta-7B Aethersprite light interceptor (Obi-Wan's jedi starfighter).
I'm very happy with them. Both are very easy to build and the detailing and weathering is perfect.
If you are interested in Star Wars vehicles, this is really a good deal.

Thanks mate
yeah I have most of the Revell Star Wars stuff, do you also collect some of the easy kits?
-
I wish I did, years ago I had some SW kits like AT-AT, AT-ST, TIE Fighter (I only have the TIE stand now) and Vader's TIE, but not made by Revell. I gave them all to my cousin Roby when he had that bad car accident in early 90's. After that I went into Action Fleet collecting. But maybe I'll try getting some OT Imperials mode kits again.
-
oh that is bad mate, a car accidant is terrible
Do they sell the Revell Star Wars easy kits in Romania?
-
I like the look of those newer kits, FF. I want to find those but am really wanting that Gunship kit.
-
yeah the Gunship is the best from the new easy kit line
-
do you have one, FF? How big is it, I wonder?
-
no can't find it in my area, I hope I will soon this thing is just awesome

Wow, the pics on the site look great. Thanks for the link, FF!
-
no problem mate
btw on the site you can find all easy kits from Revell

They do.

Awesome models mate, really love the Venator. Have you got a star destroyer?. Might start doing model star wars ships as well.
-

Thanks mate
It's great that you also want to start with SW model kits, if you have questions, I can help you
(I hope :D)
I have no Star Destroyer because I can't find other Star Wars model kits beside Revell and Revell has no Star Destroyer in their assortment yet. I hope they will make one some day.
-
I have tie interceptor to build yet, but I have come across a Venator, might pick it up next time.

Revell AT-AT (All Terrain Armored Transport) easykit
The easykit AT-AT is a very impressive vehicle with great detailing and a superb paintjob. Revell did a great job on this monster. The custom dio base that I made for him is mostly made of wood.
easykit AT-AT:
no glueing or painting required
parts: 65
price: 36,35 €
time to build: 2 hours (without the stand)
-
and some more detail-pics
-
Those stands sure do make those models pop out better imo. Nice one. I have to find me one of these.
-
thanks
They have been out for a while now, and I think it's hard to find them in stores (TRU, Target etc.) but I saw some of them on e-bay for a good price.
-
nice ive got a millenium falcon butr screwed up real bad its the sdame as sithlords aka steve but that at-at is sweet ur master of revvel
-
thanks guys
never expect that this thing could make it on the fp
-
This AT-AT is really cool. Quite accurate and the custom base you made for it is great!
-

thanks a lot mate
There is a lot more Revell stuff coming up on this topic for sure.

Revell easykit Snowspeeder (T-47 airspeeder):
The snowspeeder is another great kit from Revell. It is very easy to build and has great detailing. The kit includes 28 parts (also two pilot figures). It has an opening cockpit and a rotating cable-gun. The kit has a lenght of 200mm and wingspan of 174mm. The base is again a self-construction made of wood.
Revell made also a easykit pocket version of the Snowspeeder.
pros:
cheap (only 15€)
very easy to build (no glueing or painting)
great detailing
cons:
no weathering
no base
-
...
-
I am really liking these model kids and the custom bases you are making. It really kicks em up a notch. Do you have these all out displayed somewhere? If so, I would love to see an overalll shot of the ones you have so far.

ok, no problem mate
I will make some pics of my haul Revell SW collection and post it in the collection section.
-
That was another nice kit review, FF! Thanks for doing these. I have not seen a snowspeeder easy kit over here,as of yet but it does look nicely detailed. I like your base, as well.
-
The snowspeeder looks good, I will have to see if I can run across one or 2 for background dio fodder
-

yeah, I think it's one of the rare easykits from Revell. I also saw only a few of these here in Austria.
-

That would be very nice
-
I saw this one and the falcon at toysrus when I made the bigger runs Sarge if that helps.
-
How u going mate, What are the paint names you used for the Venator cruiser. Going to pick one up sunday and start biulding it.
-
That is really awesome mate. I wish you good luck and I hope you will post some pics when you are finished.
I used Revell paints:
* Camine red (36)
*Light blue (50)
*Black (08)
*Yellow (15)
*Light grey (76)
*Grey (57)
*Gunship grey (74)
*Light olive (45)
I hope that's all.
All the colours you need are in the construction guidance listed.
btw of course you can make some experimentation with the colours or you can make a custom, maybe an Imperial Venator.
I hope that helps mate
-
that sounds coooooll i cant wait ;D
-
Thanks mate, just picked up today hope to start on it soon.
-
Your not going to believe this, I opened up the box to have a look, and in the box I have two part 35, the bottom bit for the ship. Not Happy!!!!. Have to wait till Tuesday to see if they can send me the part I want, I hope they have the right part. What makes it worst I live 4 hrs away from the city.
-
oh no >:(
that is really bad mate, I'm sorry for you. I live also about one hour away from a bigger city.
I had never a problem with Revell, so I hope you are not too disappointed with that company now.
-
That's the first model kit Ive had a problem with. I rang Toys r us up and they are going to send the right part to me straight away, so I just have to wait. Oh well.

Revell easykit pocket TIE Interceptor
This kit is called easykit pocket because it a smaller than the normal easykits from Revell. The detailing is extremely good for this size. The kit includes 22 painted parts (with a pilot figure) and a 10 step construction manual.
It is very easy to build. One point I don't like is that the kit comes without a stand.
I also made a custom Royal Guard TIE Interceptor and of course customs stands for both.
-
And here the Royal Guard TIE Interceptor custom. I made also a little size comparison with the DIECAST TIE Interceptor.
-
Awesome tie interceptor.
-

How is it going with your Venator. Do you have the right part now.
-
And here the Royal Guard TIE Interceptor custom. I made also a little size comparison with the DIECAST TIE Interceptor.
ok. I see you guys are not the biggest TIE Interceptor fans. It's ok.
I hope you like the new Revell stuff that I found today a bit more.

Porax-38 Starfighter (Magna Guard Fighter)
This easykit is from the newest Star Wars model kit wave from Revell. The kit includes 32 painted parts (with Magna Guard pilot) and a construction manual. The differnt parts fit perfectly together and so it is very easy to build.
The weathering looks great and the kit comes also with a stand which is very good.
The Fighter has only one play-feature, the opening cockpit.
cost: about 25€.
story:
The Porax-38 had interstellar range and was fitted with highly effective, long-distance sensor systems that provided early warning of enemy activity. These large P-38 fighters were also capable of independent hyperspace jumps, which enabled them to defend Utapau far into the Tarabba Sector. Versatile thrusters, dual-reactor systems, and high-capacity deflector shielding made them a valuable asset to the Loyalist forces.
The interstellar range of these vessels also allowed them to take more punishment and they could endure longer, more arduous missions than tiny, fleet-based fighters like the Confederacy's Vulture droid fighters and tri-droid fighters and the Republic's V-wings and Eta-2s.
The Porax-38 was manufactured by Buuper Torsckil Abbey Devices and only required one pilot, who had to wear a protective breathing mask. Its had enough consumables for 20 days of air, fuel, and food. Its primary armament was two laser cannons. The fighter's tiny cockpit could only seat one short, stocky Utai, not the tall Pau'ans. Some Porax-38s had the cockpit modified for an IG-100 MagnaGuard.

Sweet review, are you gonna make a custom base for this one too? Probably a stupid question.
Cool interceptor custom too. I just can't find time to get to all the threads it seems. Very nice though. On the fp now.
-
Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry, LAAT/i (Republic Gunship)
This kit is my favorite of the new easykits from Revell. Awesome weathering and detailing, lots of features and figures makes this set to a must for all Clone Wars fans. The easykit shows the space-version of the LAAT/i so it comes without the composite-beam laser turrets. The kit includes 49 painted parts (also two Clone pilots and four Clone Troopers) and a construction manual. The side-doors are movable same as the back-hatch and also the anti-personnel laser turrets in the front and in the back are movable.
The kit comes also with a nice stand in Geonosis-style.
But if you never build a Revell easkit before, don't start with this one. It is difficult to build, some parts can broke and it is a bit complex.
cost: about 30€
story:
The Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry (LAAT/i), often referred to as the Republic attack gunship, was a specialized gunship designed for aerial-based support and infantry transportation. It was produced by Rothana Heavy Engineering and used by the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, The Galactic Empire also used it for a brief period after the conclusion of the war.
The LAAT/i was affectionately known as the "larty" by clone troopers.

No I don't think that I make customs bases for the new ones. I'm very happy that Revell decided to include stands now. The Geonosis stand which comes with the Gunship is really cool, I can't never make a custom stand in this quality.
-
Great reviews and pics, Fila! Both of those new ones are on my want list, for sure. About how long do you think each one of those vehicles are or, what scale do you believe that they are molded in?
-
FF, great reviews, I love all of the infor on the fighter. great reviews.
-
FF lovin these reviews mate very informative
-
Thanks a lot gentlemen
Clonehead:
Sorry I forgot to put the scale in the review. The gunship is in scale 1:72 and the Magna Guard Fighter has an unidentified scale, it is about 214mm long.

Millennium Falcon magazine with model
Found today this magazine at my local supermarket. It shows very detailed the story and technical characteristics of the MF and it comes with a great MF model. It's a bit larger then the DIECAST one and has some nice details.
Also included was a beautiful poster.
in the next magazine is the X-Wing (red five), I'm looking forward to this.
-
...
-
Nice, the Falcon looks cool. I have/had the DeAgostini AT-AT and it was one of the most disappointing AT-AT items I ever seen. "Crap" is a nice word for the DeAgostini AT-AT... :(

Y-Wing
Today I want to show you the easykit Y-Wing Starfighter from Revell. The vhicle shows a member of Gold squadron but I don't know the number maybe one of you know it. The kit includes 32 painted parts (also a pilot figure and a Astromech unit) and a construction manual. The kit is very easy to build, all part fit perfectly togehter. The turret is moveable and the cockpit can be open. Like most of the older easykits from Revell comes the kit without a stand, so it was custom-time again.
The Y-Wing is about 22cm long, so it is near to scale 1:72.
cost: about 20€.
I give it a 8.5/10
per:
The model kit is very detailed and two figures are included
versus:
The kit comes without a stand or landing gear and it has no weathering
story:
The BTL Y-wing starfighter, built by Koensayr Manufacturing, was a mainstay of the Alliance Starfighter Corps. It was often used as an assault bomber to attack enemy capital ships directly in conjunction with the later B-wing starfighters. There are many different versions of it like BTL-S3 Y-wing, BTL-A4 Y-wing, BTL-A4 Y-wing "LongProbe" and BTL-B Y-wing (Clone Wars version).
-
...
-
Awesome mate, the Y-wing is one of my favorites Star Wars ships and the B-wing.

Good looking Falcon and Revell Y-Wing.
How does one get a subcription to this magazine? Is it just European?

The magazine is from the company DeAgostini, I don't know if they also sell it in the US.
-
Those model kits look great! I love the Y-Wing!
-
Another great one Fiala. These models and your custom stands look so cool. Do you have them all displayed together?
-
That is a sharp looking kit, Fila and your stand turned out great! I think I have this one. I may have to dig it out and get it together.
-
thanks a lot guys
Luke Sprywalker : yeah I'm displayed them all together, but if Revell decide to make a 2010 wave then I'm running out of space.
Clonehead: yeah you should build it mate and it's maybe a good kit for a custom (green squadron for example).
-
What paint colour would you use for a Imperial cruiser? (Revell). I was thinking using dark grey for the top part of the ship and grey on the side of the ship. Just not sure what colour.
-

yeah I aslo think that dark grey would look great. When you look on the movie pic, it looks that he has the same grey everywhere. With the dark grey you can bring live in the kit and also with a black drybrush and dark wash. The site-parts are pretty much the same as on the Republic Venator.
-
Sounds cool, can we get a group shot?

DeAgostini T-65 X-Wing (Red Five)
Found today the DeAgostini magazine number 2. Again a very interesting collectible with alot of information and a nice poster.
The DeAgostini X-Wing is a bit larger than the DIECAST X-Wing. It has nice detailing and comes with a base and a mini plastic-showcase.
Next one is Anakin's Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor
-
Hey Fiala if you see an extra at-at Dagnosti in your travels please pick me one up if it is minty fresh. I would love to have one even though I have heard it is a horrible rendition of it. I am liking these magazines! I think this ship doesn't look too bad from what I can see.

Sweet link Fiala! I was actually able to work some of it out. Don't ask me how I did that. If I may ask, how do these show up packaged? Is the magazine attached to the ship I would presume? Is the whole thing covered by plastic, etc.?
-

yeah the magazine and the model are fixed on a card board which is covered by plastic.
-
Hey, that looks pretty sweet to me! What price (US if possible) are these going for if I may ask?
-
It is a bit costly in my opinion. The price is 12,99€ that is about 17,8$.
-
$18 dollars U.S. for an atat, I can cut that for my beloved vehicle.

Revell X-Wing Starfighter (easykit and easykit pocket)
This time I make a dual review on the Revell X-Wing easykit and easykit pocket. The easykit version includes 38 painted parts (also a Luke and R2D2 figure, so it is of course Red Five) and a construction manual. The easykit pocket version is a lot smaller. It includes 21 painted parts (again Luke and R2D2 and again Red Five :-\). Both kits are very detailed especially the easykit pocket version for this small size and both are very easy to build. Only the weathering is missing.
You have the choice to build the easykit version with or without the leanding gear. Alos the cockpit can be opened. The easykit pocket version has no features and comes without a stand.
story:
The X-wing (T-65) was a prominent series of multiple starfighters produced by Incom with a characteristic "X"-shape of four wings, known as S-foils, extending out from the fuselage. These starfighters were found in the service of the Rebel Alliance, New Republic, and also the Galactic Alliance. They were originally meant for the Galactic Empire but when the entire Incom design team defected with the prototypes to the Rebel Alliance this deal was over.
information easykit:
length: 21cm
wing-span: 20cm
cost: 14€
information easykit pocket:
length: 11cm
wing-span: 10cm
cost: 5€
opinion:
I was always a big X-Wing fan. It is definitely one of my favorite Starfighters. The Revell model kits are great but there are some points I don't like. First is the missing weathering and stand (but that is not a big deal). But why always Red Five, I would like to see some other numbers of Red squadron.
So I give the easykit version a 9/10 and the easykit pocket version a 8,5/10.

btw thanks a lot to fp the L8-L9 and Gungan that is very cool

Hi, I found a Y-wing the other day but they are asking to much for it. I could buy another hasbro y-wing for that price. Are they over priced were you are?
-
Hi, I found a Y-wing the other day but they are asking to much for it. I could buy another hasbro y-wing for that price. Are they over priced were you are?
yeah the Revell Y-Wing was a bit costly. I think the price was 20€=30,8(AUD) but I'm not sure. It's been a while since a bought this thing.

Slave 1
This is probably the most detailed Star Wars model kit from Revell. The detailing in the engine-area is incredible.
The easykit shows the Slave 1 with the paintwork of Boba Fett. It includes 35 painted parts (also a Boba Fett figure) and a construction manual. The front cannons and the wings are rotatable. The kit comes also with weathering which is very good.
cost: about 25€
length: 240mm
rating: 9,5/10
story:
Slave I was a modified prototype Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft used by famed bounty hunters Jango Fett and his cloned "son", Boba Fett. It was greatly modified with advanced weapons systems by both Fetts during their respective use.
Originating from Oovo IV, the ship was stolen by Jango Fett, replacing his previous ship, Jaster's Legacy. After Jango's death on Geonosis in 22 BBY, the ship was inherited by Boba Fett and used on several missions during and after the Clone Wars. It was subsequently replaced by the Slave II, Slave III, and Slave IV.

Nice review and great shots, Fila. That is one great looking kit. How long do you think it took to assemble?

I think about two hours. The parts fit perfectly together and it is very easy to build.

DeAgostini Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor
I found today the DeAgostini magazine number 3. It comes with a very nice model of the Eta-2 starfighter and a lot of information about this fighter. The model shows Anakin's starfighter (battle over Coruscant). There are some great details on it and I like the weathering, only the republic-symbol is a bit disappointing. The model is a bit smaller as the Revell easykit pocket version.
The magazine includes also a great TIE-fighter poster.
The next magazine includes a Imperial Stardestroyer model.

I sure wish I could get a SW magazine subscription like that in the US! Cool ship. Hey, I need to paypal some funds for that atat by March!

no problem Clint. I would send one to you but I was very lucky, I found the last one at my local model kit store. I hope they get a new delivery some day.

Revell easykit AT-RT
The AT-RT is apart from the AT-AT the only walker model kit from Revell yet (a AT-TE kit should follow this or next year). It is very close to the 3 3/4" size, so you can combine it with a Hasbro AT-RT driver figure. The kit includes 46 painted parts (also a AT-RT driver with no articulation) and construction manual. The kit is very easy to build only the cannon and some strutting-parts are a bit flimsy and can broke very easily. Weathering and a base is missing in this kit.
length: 138mm
height: 182mm
cost: about 15€
rating: 9/10
story:
The All Terrain Recon Transport (AT-RT) was a one-man bipedal walker used for reconnaissance and patrolling, first by the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, and later on by the Galactic Empire and Alliance to Restore the Republic and was made in Kuat Drive Yards. (wookiepedia)
btw: The DC-15 blasters on the back are not included and also the stand is self made.

I found two week ago a secound AT-RT model kit. I think I will use this for a 212th (Utapau) AT-RT custom.
-
Looks good. I really am liking these models that you and Clint are making me aware of. On the front page.

Thanks Ch, Revell did really a great job on this kit. Do you new informations about the new easykits from Revell?
I can't wait to see some pics of that new AT-TE.
-
Nope, no new info other than that the three new kits are to be easy kits.
Here is a link to the story at jedinews (http://jedinews.co.uk/news/news.aspx?newsID=3234)

DeAgostini Imperial star destroyer
I found today the newest DeAgostini magazine. This time is a great star destroyer model included. The detailing is for this small size very good. The model is 9cm lond, 6cm wide and 3,5cm high.
One thing is really disappointing. The first three magazines were covered in a nice plastic package but now sells DeAgostini the magazines in a simple plastic bag. The result is a creased magazine. >:(
next one is the AT-AT walker
-
Cool model. I will get this on the fp tomorrow. Sad to hear they aren't showing up as good of packaging as the previous ones. I am looking forward to that atat though.

I'm also looking forward to the AT-AT. I hope you still want it or is the packaging too disappointing?

Do you think this is the manufacturer changing the packaging or is your magazine seller tearing off the packaging to save selling storage space? If its the later perhaps you can get to your seller before they tear off the packaging? Don't know why they would alter packaging once started at the factory.
I know JKNO got his hands on the atat a few months ago and I have seen a few show up on ebay. I need to do some research. I would still love to have one, but a bunch of creases and dings would driver me nuts.

I will ask my magazine seller, maybe I can get the original packaging for the AT-AT. For 12,99€ is a simple plastic bag not enough.
-
Sounds good to me Fiala. Finally got this on the fp.
-
Awesome!! Star Destroyer, I really like that . :)
-
Tamer
I asked today my magazine seller about the plastic bag packaging. She told me that this is the packaging she gets from the central store in Vienna but she doesn't know if they change the packaging there or if this is the original packaging from Deagostini. I'm going to check out some other stores in my area when the AT-AT comes out. Maybe they have another central store and get the better packaging from there.
-
the bag is the original packaging from the publisher i am a news manager in the u.k. and we had these a loooooooong time ago .
-
Daggone, I guess they hook you in with the first ones packaged so well and then short change you later. Sounds like something Hasbro would do! Oh well, if we can get one in decent shape I would still love to add one to my atat collection. thanks for checking Fiala.
-
No problem mate and thanks for the information Jay. It is really disappointing. Let me know if you want one for your AT-AT collection Tamer.

Revell easykit Millennium Falcon
This is really a fantastic kit from Revell. The detailing and weathering is very nice and accurate, only the engine is not detailed and could be better. The kit includes 52 parts (also a Han Solo and Chewbacca figure) and a construction manual. You have the choice to build the Falcon with retracted or extended landing gear. The radar dish and the cannons are movable. The ramp can be opened.
length: 375mm
high: 113mm
scale 1/71
cost: 35€
per:
Great detailing and some nice features, now this you can call a good SW model kit. In my opinion one of the SW kits from Revell so far.
versus:
There is nothing I don't like, only the engine could be better but that is not a big deal.
rating:
9.5/10

That's another nice looking kit, Fila! I have the ROTJ glue kit version, unbuilt, of course.
I wonder why they went with three landing gear struts instead of the 4-5 it was shown with in Empire Strikes Back?

I agree Clint. The landing gear which was shown in Ep. 5 would look better on the ship. Maybe a nice custom project for the future.

np Clint.
I'm looking forward to get the new kits. The Attack Shuttle is a very nice kit in my opnion.
-
Thanks for the info Fiala. I too like that attack shuttle, the atte looks good to imo. I can't wait to see if you customize that one like you did your 212th AT-RT.

Anakins Jedi Starfighter
I found today the last missing Revell easykit in my collection, Anakins Jedi Starfighter from the Clone Wars.
The kit is again very easy to build, all parts fit perfectely together. The kit includes 27 painted parts (also a R2D2 figure, a Anakin figure (of course in CW style) and a construction manual. You can build the kit with extended or retracted landing gear. A stand is included.
length: 205mm
scale: ?
cost: 20€
story:
During the Clone Wars the Jedi Order deployed the single seat, tapered starfighter of the Galactic Republic in large numbers. A typical feature of this Delta-7B-starfighter is the position of the astromech droid (in Anakin's case R2-D2) just fore of the cockpit instead of next to it. The relatively light armament is explained by the Jedi's confidence in their own skills of conflict avoidance. Its modest dimensions also offer too little space for its own hyperdrive. This extremely light, short starfighter is well protected against bombardment. The two laser cannons it carries with it are partly concealed. Anakin uses a Jedi starfighter, among other things, when rescuing Jabba the Hutt's son, Rotta.
per:
It is a great kit. The detailing is good and it is very easy to build.
versus:
The weathering could be better.

This one looks great. Guess you are done till the new line comes out.
-
Freakin awesome man!
-
Thanks for your comments guys.
Clint:
Clint here in Austria you can only find those kits in small stores like Muki Toyz or Müller. The 2008 kits were also available at TRU but the new kits are not in sight there.
Tamer:
Yeah my collection is now completed. Now I've to wait till October when the new line comes out.
If I can find some of the older kits I will make some custom vehicles but I'm not sure.
-
Droid Tri-Fighter
This kit is from one of the older easykit waves from Revell. You get 27 painted parts and a construction manual. The Tri-Fighter is 185mm long.
The "droid brain" in the middle is revolvable. A stand is not included.
information:
The droid tri-fighter, also known as the tri-droid fighter or simply tri-fighter, was a deadly Confederacy droid starfighter designed as a fast, agile and powerful space-superiority starfighter, built to excel in dogfighting. It would be used in large numbers in the later parts of the Clone Wars.
The kit is very detailed and also very easy to build. One thing I don't like is the missing weathering.
rating: 8.5/10
cost: 10€

I got yesterday my package with two Deagostini magazines. Number 5 with the AT-AT and number 6 with the TIE Advanced X1. Both kits have nice details and the magazines are full with information about the vehicles.

What do you think about the walker?
-
What do you think about the walker?
It could be better. One thing I don't like is that it has no articulation and also the head detailing is not the best.
-
I bought today the newest Deagostini magazine and the new 2010 Revell catalogue.
This time the Deagostini magazine comes with a very nice model of an Imperial Shuttle and some information about the Royal Guards.
-
First pics of the new 2010 Revell easykits from legion078
legion078 sent me some pics that he made at the Intermodellbau 2010. He made also some pics of the new 2010 easykit wave with AT-TE, AAT, Nu-class attack shuttle etc.
My favorite is the Nu-class shuttle, that thing is an excellent kit as far as I can see.
I can't wait to build those kits, they look just awesome.
Thanks a lot for the pics buddy:

I want a NU!!!!! Is it larger than a Lambda shuttle?

Wow, I cant wait to get my hands on those. I wonder how the atte sizes up to the republic gunship model?

Wow, I cant wait to get my hands on those. I wonder how the atte sizes up to the republic gunship model?

I think the Gunship size fits pretty good to the AT-TE. A Revell LAAT/c would be a great custom but it is also very dificult to make.
-
wow love that attack shuttle!
-
Revell Nu-class attack shuttle (republic attack shuttle)
This tactical troop transport was made for the Republican Clone Army. It is suitable for attack, but only has two very effective twin-barrelled guns. Particularly remarkable is its Class 1 Hyper Space Drive which is available to hardly any type of Separatist ship.
This kit is part of the latest Revell easykit wave. The most features are nicly implemented and a stand is included which is very good.
The only downside is the weathering which is not very good.
You have the choice to build it with or without the landing gear.
features:
*movable wings
*hinged hatch
*mobable ball-turrets
*hinged canopy
length: 203mm
scale: 1/120
no. of parts: 52+2 pilot figures
A nice kit and definitely the highlight of the newest wave.

Revell AT-TE
The All-Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE), an armoured walker of the Republican Clone Army, moves on six articulated legs. These legs are relatively low to the ground, which may limit its speed, but increases its stability. It has an extensive arsenal of different weapons systems that can even make it a hazard for an enemy warship.
The AT-TE is also part of the latest Revell easykit wave. The kit is very well done and the weathring looks a lot better than that of the attacj shuttle.
A nice looking display (Ryloth design) is also included.
features:
*articulated legs
*movable ball-turrets
*rotating main cannon
length: 203mm
scale: 1/88
no. of parts: 63+1 pilot figure

perfect reviews, Fiala! I loved the pics. I want both of these but will have to visit a speciality shop to find them.

and the next two
Ahsoka Tano’s Delta-7B Aetherspite-class light interceptor
The starfighter made by the Kuat Systems Engineering Works is distinguished by the excellent agility and manoeuvrability that it gains from its small dimensions. Its rather weak armament is explained on the one hand by the reliance of the Jedi on their own abilities to avoid conflicts and on the other by the small size of the ship, that therefore has no hyper-space drive of its own. This ultra-light, short fighter is very well protected against fire by the two partly concealed laser cannon that it carries. This single-seat, tapered starfighter is used in large numbers by the Jedi Order in the period of the Galactic Republic, and also by Anakin's padawan (apprentice), Ahsoka Tano from the Togruta people with the conspicuous head tails. The ship she uses is clearly differentiated from Anakin's or Obi-Wan's ship by its dark red paint and the star-shaped decoration on the top.
(Revell: http://www.revell.de/starwars/produkte/en-Ahsoka-Tano-Jedi-Starfighter.html)
Ahsoka's Delta 7B is part of the latest Revell easykit wave. It is is a repaint of Anakin's Delta 7B from last year. The painting is quite good but the weathering could be better. The cockpit is nicely detailed as well as the Astromech. You have the choice to build the Starfighter with or without the landing gear and a stand is also included.
features:
*opening cockpit
*removable Astromech
length: 202mm
scale: 1/40

Belbullab-22 (General Grievous’ Starfighter)
Although General Grievous, Commander of the Droid armies, prefers direct battle, he flies a Starfighter, which has a Class 6 hyper drive. Due to its in-built life-support system, the ship is larger and more robustly built than other Droid fighters. Its rapid-firing laser cannons provide a fire power equal in its destructiveness to any V-wing starfighter.
(Revell: http://www.revell.de/starwars/produkte/en-general-grievous-starfighter.html)
The kit is from the same wave as Ahsoka's Jedi starfighter. It is the first version of the Belbullab-22 in animated design. The design of the kit reflects the original from the series very well. The color scheme is well taken and the cockpit is nicely detailed.
A little disapointing is the lack of landing gear but a nice stand is included.
features:
*forward sliding canopy
length: 211mm
scale: 1/32
no. of parts: 35

AAT (Armored Assault Tank)
This fearsome heavy combat tank is used by the Federation to conquer other planets. Thanks to different Repulsor Lift engines this heavily armoured vehicle floats above the ground. The thick front armour protects the AAT against almost all conceivable enemy attacks. The AAT is one of the best weapons systems in the Federation army and is operated by battle droids.
The AAT is part of the latest Revell easykit wave. It is the first version of the tank in animated design. The color scheme is well taken and the cockpit is nicely detailed.
features:
*opening cockpit
*rotating gun turret (360°)
*hinged primary laser cannon
*rotating secondary laser cannons (360°)

+weathering

Awesome! That really does look great Christoph. Jaxon and I got 2 of these but they came in a bag much like trading cards rather than a box. I got Lukes X-Wing and Jaxon got Vaders Tie. I amwondering if ours are a bit smaller than yours. We hope to put them together this weekend as we just got them for Christmas.

I know, they are hind to find. I found the newest kits in a special model kit shop. I fear TRU solve their Revell stock.
I think you'll have the best chance with online stores.

@FialaFernbrugg
I found these reviews meticulous and very handy when deciding which products from that line I'd like to purchase.
The photography helped a lot also; clear and well lit, good use of scaling too. ;D
I was wondering what your thoughts were on the Fine Molds products?
Also, How did you construct some of those flight bases/ display stands?
I know some came in the kit, but with the others it seems you made an MDF/Particle board base.
The closest things I can find cheaply here are Masonite and Acrylic sheeting...
or Bak2Basix bases ;D
Thanks again for the great reviews, kobayashimaru

Thank you kobayashimaru.
I'm glad that my reviews helped you.
I can't tell you a lot about the Fine Molds products because they are hard to find and very expensive but the Fine Molds kits (reviews) that I've seen were the best Star Wars model kits of all times. The detailing and the quality is perfect.

Most of my display stands are made of wood (beech wood). Wood is very cheap here in austria and I've the right tolls for "woodworking" at home.

The X-34 Land Speeder provides swift planetary locomotion (up to 250 kph). Under the bonnet is a repulsor generator which enables the speeder to hover. The X-34 is controlled by a steering wheel. The driver is on the right-hand side. The windscreen consists of an impact resistant transparent material that gives effective protection against sand and stones.

As with all TIE designs, the standardised cockpit is in the middle of the ship and is linked to the solarwings by outriggers. Thanks to the transparent cockpit surfaces, the TIE offers a better panoramic view than other fighters. The TIE is armed with fixed mountedtwin laser cannon.

Revell Imperial Star Destroyer easykit pocket
Imperial I-class Star Destroyer
The Imperial I-class Star Destroyer, also known as the Imperial I-class Destroyer or the Imperator-class Star Destroyer, was an iconic class of warships designed by Lira Wessex and built by Kuat Drive Yards. The Imperial-class Star Destroyers, along with Imperial stormtroopers, represented the might of the Imperial Military throughout the galaxy during the reign of the Galactic Empire.

Nice!! Looks like they'd do well in backdrop shots, too. Something else for me to watch the pegs for. ;)
-
nice review Christoph ,i might pick this up if i ever come across any .
-
Very cool! The TIE Fighter is one of my favorite star ship designs ever.

Revell Anakin's Podracer "easykit"
The Podracer known from Episode 1 was built in secret by Anakin Skywalker himself during his time as a slave on Tatooine. The individual parts for this very powerful racer are made from discarded pieces of junk. The core of the machine is located in the front turbines which tows the pilot's section. Arising from a bet, with the racer Anakin was able to escape from slavery and join the Jedi. Without this racer, Anakin would never have become a Jedi and the whole story of Star Wars would have been different.
scale: 1:31
no of parts: 45
length: 400 mm
Easykit: that means you need no glue or paint to assemble the kit.
A display stand is included.
In my opinion the best easykit of the 2012 wave. The weathering looks nice and the design of the stand is great.

Cool deal. Nice review. Time to get this on the front page.

Sith Infiltrator
The Scimitar (or Sith Infiltrator) was a prototype stealth-ship used as the personal starship of Darth Maul, the Sith apprentice of Darth Sidious, prior to the Invasion of Naboo around 32 BBY.
[wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Scimitar]
This is the last easykit of Revell's 2012 wave and also one of the best. The kit is full with details and the painting is great. Only the weathering is overdone and not very good. A tiny Darth Maul figure is also included. You have the choice to built the Scimitar with or without the landing gear. The wings are movable.

Revell X-Wing Fighter
scale: 1/29
no. of parts: 62
length: 416mm
wing spread: 390mm
price: ~37€
skill level: 2 (of 5)
This is the third and biggest version of the X-Wing from Revell and the first try to show some inner details of this famous vehicle.
The kit includes a stand to show the X-Wing in flight-configuration, a pilot figure and R2-D2.
The X-Wing shows the markings of red five (not again Revell >:().
This is by far not the best Revell easykit. The inner details like the proton-torpedo compartment are badly detailed and the kit is pretty unsteady.
Other markings and another astromech would have been nice.

First off just great to see you back!
Just a great review of this. Kinda sad they missed the mark a bit on what could have been the best version of this yet. I mean, why wouldn't they get better detail on a larger model? Time for the front page.
-
thx Shawn
The kit is really not the best.
I hope Revell will bring us some great new stuff in 2014.
-
Christoph, great to hear from you old friend! Sorry to hear this kit is a bit lacking, I am wondering if you will modify it down the road?

Revell AT-ACT
The All Terrain Armored Cargo Transport (AT-ACT) was a larger version of the standard All Terrain Armored Transport combat walker that featured a dedicated cargo bed for the transportation of heavy building materials or combat munitions. It was deployed at major Imperial construction projects, such as shipyards and sprawling research installations.

height: 197mm (7,76 in.)

Batteries are included (2x LR44)
selling price (in Austria): 19,99 €
articulation: swivel-mounted hips, swivel-mounted knees, swivel-mounted ankles, ball-jointed neck, swivel-mounted laser cannons
sound effects: walking sound and firing sound
light effect: red light in the cockpit
The Revell kit looks great. The articulation is adequate for this scale. The grey could be a little bit darker and some weathering would have been nice. The sound effects are pretty good (loud and clear).
All in all a very nice kit.

Revell Imperial Star Destroyer
The Imperial-class Star Destroyer (ISD) known generally as the Imperial Star Destroyer, was a product line of massive dagger-shaped capital ships of the Imperial Navy and later the Navy of the First Order. It consisted of two variants, the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer and the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer.

Revell Imperial Star Destroyer: http://www.revell.de/produkte/star-wars/star-wars-rogue-one/id/06756.html

height: 105mm (4,13 in.)
width: 230mm (9,06 in.)

light and sound effects
Batteries are included (3x LR44)
selling price (in Austria): 29,99 €
sound effects: flight sounds and laser cannon firing
light effect: illuminated engines
additional features: rudimentary fold-out landing gear
I'm really impressed by the kit. The detailing is very good for the scale. The light effects in the engines are very good.
I would have preferred a nice display stand instead of the landing gear.

Great reviews! Thanks for the AT-ACT pictures and details in particular. The promo pictures revell gave were misrepresenting, the legs were done kinda wacky. The way you placed them looks much better. You should work for Revell, setting up promo shots. It's cool that it has a ball joint head, that makes a lot of sense.

Thank you JDeck.
It would be nice to work for Revell but I guess that will never happen. I know the promo pics of the AT-ACT were not the best but the kit itself is pretty good. The ball jointed neck is the best solution for this scale but the neck articulation on the Revell AT-AT looks better in my opinion.

New Revell Episode VIII kits:
- A-Wing blue
- A-Wing red
- Kylo Ren's TIE Fighter
- First Order Heavy Assault Walker
- Poe's Boosted X-Wing Fighter
- Millennium Falcon
Here is a link to the Revell site if someone is interested: https://www.revell.de/en/products/star-wars/star-wars-episode-viii.html
I will get at least the blue A-Wing and maybe the Assault Walker (even if I'm not happy with the design)
-
yeah, gonna have to have one of those assault walkers too. Still trying to get my head wrapped around the new design too, but hey its a new walker so I gotta like that at least!
-
I went to my local hobby shop, and bought one of the small Star Destroyer kits. It's cool that there are no sprues, everything fits well. I want the bigger ZVEZDA version, but I want a lot of things. Anyway, I plan to hang mine in the background of a diorama I have. There are many possibilities with it. It's an underrated kit for sure.
-
I so need to pick up a few new model kits.
-
I hung my Star Destroyer from the ceiling for this diorama I'm in the infancy of building. I was naive in thinking 4lb test line would work, but it stretched like silly putty. I ended up saying screw it and used 12lb. The line is more visible, but it holds. It works great as a background floating SD in this diorama.
-
It looks great as part of your background I agree.
Off to share.

That SD is straight out the box. No weathering, no black wash. The detail is phenomenal. The sound effects mean little to me, but the lights are cool.
-
Great idea to use the SD as diorama piece in such a way. I've hoarded the hot wheels SW ships when they've dropped for the same reason. The perspective is all the matters.

Yeah I really like the hot wheels ships. There not much on fine detail, but they're pretty good, and they make a good variety. I've been eyeballing that cargo shuttle, but have yet to pull the trigger.
-
That looks really nice.
Good idea to use it as a background piece.

Yeah the SD has potential. There's nothing that is in scale with it, however one could work with it. The Bandai 1/1000 Tantive iv could be used in a chase scene. It would be way out of scale, but depending on how you place it, you could get a sense of distance. Same with the 1/300 falcon. In any event it would always work as a background. I saw a Bandai diorama of lando falcon being chased through the... I dunno space clouds?.... Kessel run. It was amazing.

Bandai Death Star II
The DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station, also known as the Death Star MK. 2, or simply the second Death Star, was a partially completed moon-sized battle station constructed by the Galactic Empire as the successor to the first Death Star. A larger and more powerful Death Star, the second Death Star's long-term purpose was similar to the first: to terrorize planets and star systems in league with the Rebel Alliance through the use of its planet-destroying superlaser.

JDeck has already made a kit review: http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=9884.75 - check it out.
Bandai Kit No.: 0230358
number of parts: 20 + 2 for the display stand (the display stand is transparent in the multi pack version with the Star Destroyer and black in the single pack version)
scale: 1/2700000
diameter: 61,5mm or 2,42"
hight with the display stand: 96mm or 3,78"
retail price: ~25€ (2020)
I used these colours to paint the kit:
-Revell light grey USAF 34176 acrylic spray paint as a primer
-Tamiya german grey TS-4 acrylic spray paint for for the internal parts
-Revell enamel paint grey matt 43 for the drybrushing of the internal parts and the details in the dish
-Revell Aqua Color grey silk matt 374 for the panels and cotton buds
-Valejo bright bronze 72.057 for the details of the internal parts
The kit is very detailed for the small scale and like all Bandai kits it is very clever designed. All parts fit well together but there are small gaps here and there. The trickiest part for me was painting the panels. The raised panels on the Death Star are darker than panel lines. I primed the the parts with Revell light grey USAF. Afterwards I applied Revell Aqua Color grey silk matt with a cotton swab to the surface.
I hope you like it:

Sure looks like a nice kit to me. Nice paint work too.
Off to share on the front pages.

Wow, the level of detail of this kit is amazing! So is the quality of your pictures! I think I have to get this kit, too. The DSII looks great next to the figures! Excellent job on glue and paint work! High precision as always. So good to see you back here. The Death Star couldn't be more iconic here on The Shipyards...

Bandai Super Star Destroyer
Executor-class Star Dreadnoughts, also known as Super-class Star Destroyers or simply Super Star Destroyers, were some of the largest and most powerful Imperial starships ever created. Along with other classes of massive Imperial capital ships, they were also referred to as Super Star Destroyers, although they were technically classified as Star Dreadnoughts. The most distinguished Super Star Destroyer was the Executor, flagship of the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader.

Bandai Kit No.: 5057711
scale: 1/100000
length: 190mm or 7,48"
width: 60mm or 2,36"
height: 49mm or 1,93"
retail price: ~20€ (2020)
I used these colours to paint the kit:
-Tamiya german grey TS-4 acrylic spray paint: for the superstructures
-Vallejo model wash for grey and dark vehicles: for the weathering
-Revell enamel paint grey matt 43 for the drybrushing
-Revell enamel paint metalic silver and light orange for the engines
The deatils on this small kit are phenomenal. Another wonderful Star Wars model kit from Bandai.

Bandai Razor Crest (silver coating ver.)
A former military craft used to patrol local territories in the time before the Empire, the Razor Crest serves as the trusty transport and living quarters for the Mandalorian and the Child, as they travel from world to world, staying out of reach of the Imperial Remnant.
[Text from the box]
Bandai Kit No.: 5061795 (vehicle model EX018)
scale: unspecified
length: 110mm or 4,33"
width: 74mm or 2,91"
height: 69mm or 2,71" with the stand; 33mm or 1,3" without the stand
number of parts: 23
retail price: ~40€ (Nov. 2021)
No paint or glue required. All parts are coated with a silver plating. The stand is black.
Stickers for the markings and the cockpit windows are included. I would have preferred waterslide decals but the stickers are quite good and very thin.
I used Vallejo model wash black to bring some weathering effects on the model.
40€ for such a small model kit is quite expensive. The Revell Razor Crest with a length of 337mm, interior and cockpit has a retail price of 57€ (Dec. 2021). The details are very good and the silver plating looks amazing but the price is too high.

Great looking model. Bummer about the price.
Let me go share this on the front pages.

I agree, 40€/$45 is very steep for a model kit that's just 4" long. However I mustn't forget that this is imported and includes import fees and 20% sales tax. I'm glad BANDAI got the STAR WARS license. It's good that Revell has some competitors out there. Let's hope they'll survive the economic crisis and won't go broke. Though I hope people built more model kits during the pandemic again.
LEGO got a little lazy so I'm beyond happy they have plenty competitors by now!
The level of detail on Bandai's Crest looks amazing! Also the vac-metal effect is something only they have as far as I know. Thanks for the review! I'm glad you found a nice treat to your birthday!
Watch The Mandalorian next, it's good.
