Hi there!
When my son Sean saw the dios you guys are doing, especially Jules' work and recent youtube video, he wanted one, BAD!
Thanks, Jules, for sharing your dio picture files with us.
I printed the various pictures, cut them out with a scalpel and spray-glued them onto cardboard.
The photos show the half-finished diorama of a star fortress, battleship interior, Arca Barracks, wherever the imagination of a child (or old Star Wars geek) makes the adventure happen.
I will add side pieces (Sean wants a slide door, too) and hinge it so it can be folded up and stored flat under the bed when mum so commands.
The construction site (figures are randomly picked):

Excellent!! I need to get on and finish up some of my buildings.
-
Looks pretty daggone sweet to me. Nice work Volker.
-
Volker,
It's really great to know that the stuff that I've posted is being put too good use, The diorama looks really great (though I am biast).
I'll be posting more decals very soon, so your son should have more exciting stuff to play with.
All the best,
Jules

Expect this to be fpaged if I can find the time today. I have to take the family to a waterpark, but should be back later this evening.
-
Looks great, Volker! I bet the kids love it.
-
Sean surely does.
He played with it all day long says my wife and they left it in the living-room for me to see.
Wow, frontpage with this diorama...I'm honoured.
-
My son and I did the same thing, but on a much smaller scale =) Great idea and great work on it!
-
I made another, this time smaller, dio tonight.
Some type of control room or passageway with a blast door, ideal for an assault team or photo posing.
Heroic shot starring Commander Cody:

Nice action shots, Volker! Looks convincing.
-
That is a great set up.
And I really like the commandos and shadow arc shots... some of my favorite figs.
nice work.
-
cool looking surround. It could be used for a wide variety of options for displays
-
Thanks people.
I cut a bunch of decals out during my lunch break today and sprayglued some of them to the cardboard tonight so it took me roughly an hour to put this little display together.
It was just meant to give me a variety of background options to photograph my figures against.
Something tells me that it will end up with my son as a playset very quickly, though.
I will make the next diorama with decals on foamcore to make the whole setup a little more durable.
-
Yea, that is really cool! A great interpretation and use of the decals, you've rteally made them into your own unique environment.
The images look very ominous, you can almost feel the tension in the atmosphere.
Wonderful!
-
awesome set up mate... who are the unlucky sods on the other side waiting for them? there toast!! go Omega!!! Oya ner vod!!
-
Oya Manda!
-
Okay, tonight I experimented with foamcore for the first time to get a bit of a feeling for the material.
I hope that in a short while I'll be able to build a corridor or something with a corner and maybe a walkway.
Let's see.
I put some figures into the dio to see how it would look.
You may (or not) recognize my custom Walon Vau, the others are the Mandalorian Clones and Omega Squad (this time posing as Vau's students). Okay, I know that Vau actually trained Delta Squad, but Omega isn't the only Commando Squad to wear black Katarn armor, right?

Looks good Volker. Reminds me I need to something. Check out the fp sometime.
-
Easy does it Kurgan, you'll be churning out stuff that'll make mine look lke Bantha poodoo before the week is through!
Foam core will enablew you to add so many more elements, doors, passageways, your imagination can run wild.
I'll post the rest of my wall textures at the end of the week, give you more to work with.
All the best,
Jules.
Oh, love the customs as well BTW.
-
Thanks Jules, I'll be on the lookout for your new decals.
BTW: only the Mandalorian is a custom, the RCs are stock figures (okay, the DC17 sniper rifle is a custom, too...)
-
Looks fantastic, I love the custom Walon, foam core is cheap to buy and you can use it to create tons of diffrent things.
