Title: Lambonspit's custom figures
Post by: lambonspit on January 14, 2010, 04:58:21 AM
hi there guys. I would like to break into the custom figures forums with my recently created custom Mando.

Backstory!!
This shadow style Mando is called Hando Fel and he was a Mandalorian soldier who took place in the Battle of New Holstice. His regiment took heavy losses against Jedi General Aayla Secura's forces. His whole regiment was killed and he luckily escaped when the rest of the Mandalorian forces ordered a retreat. Hando Fel continued to fight alongside other mandalorians until he was betrayed by fellow mandalorian Boba Fett whilst he was investigating the death of Padme Amidala at the request of Grand Inquisitor Malorum. His armour was left to rot on the surface of the planet Bellassa.

Heres the pics!!

Colours used Chaos Black, Mithril Silver and Mechrite Red. Used black ribbon for the two cloak bits and a comic pack sash from a Quinlan Vos figure.
Hope you guys like it!!

very nice.  I like it all.  the silver visor, the bandolier, the modified cape, every bit is very well done.
I take it that it is a modified evo style jango?  If so did you change the head?  If not I would take it one step further and do a head swap on the figure.  that would put it over the top.

Thanks guys!! Glad you liked it. Maybe i should continue with custom figures then?!?!

Actually, its a Fenn Shysha figure from the Dengar comic pack. I already had a green mando so i thought id use Fenn. He has a completely different head to Jango and so looks really original.

Hey everyone,
Here's a quick W.I.P shot of some clones ima customising. Nowhere near completion of the battalion but the one on the left is almost finished. Just needs a new gun and his visors gonna be lime green. BTW: they are elite shock troopers, much like the dark troopers seen in Battlefront II, but in Phase 3 armour. Ignore the mistakes on the commander, he has a lot of fixing up. But honestly, do you think they should be dirtied up to look like they've been in some action?

And if your wondering whats in the background, here's a sneak peak.

Thanks CC and Clonehead. i don't really mind as everyones entitled to their opinion. He probably doesn't know that here at the Shipyards we have constructive criticism and we all try to support each other. I did my research and tried to tie in a figure that i made into real events which happened in the Star Wars universe. The turbo tank is a huge job though, and has taken ages so far!!

Is that burnt orange?

Actually its blood red!! The colour came out as very orange on the camera

Hey everyone.
Got the scorpion green i needed and i managed to finish these customs early this morning. The photoshoot is what took longest. Its like gale force winds just had to turn up when i was setting up outside!! I have to say, i 'borrowed' some ideas from Fiala when making these customs. I've always loved his firestorm troopers!! And the base is so fiala too!! Thanks for the inspiration man!!

Here's the backstory.

E.O.D.S.T (Elite Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) were deployed late in the clone wars after the conclusion of the Battle of Coruscant. Jumping from low orbiting Cruisers, E.O.D.S.T's used small modified jet packs to control their altitude and speed, whilst a special breathing device supplied them with air whilst in the troposphere. Armed with ARC casters, these troops could easily take out 4 droid targets when the gun was fully charged. These troopers saw great use in the battle of Utapau, where they easily manoeuvred themselves into the sinkholes and engaged droid forces on landing platforms. Commonly mistaken with Jet Troopers, E.O.D.S.T's had a greater level of training, highly modified armour and jet packs and a much powerful gun. At the conclusion of the clone wars these troopers were phased out and eventually evolved into Phase Zero Dark Troopers. Leading the E.O.D.S.T's is Commander Remat, who rather than jumping with his legion, prefers to land and engage the enemy after his troops have cleared the way.

great figures.  I like em!
I especially love the paint, very nice apps.  I love the paterns, and the distinction of the commander with his pauldron.

I do have one issue though, the hoses look too much like they are just glued to the front of the helmets... I suggest that you get a small pin sized drill bit and drill a couple recieving holes in the helmets for the hoses and make it look more like they are going strait into the helmet itself.

the jetpacks look great, great use of the rocket firing attachments that came with the super battle droids.

Those EODST figures look great.  Seems like they would be fun to make.  I like the paint scheme and the markings the most.  The lines are crisp and there some nice accent details.  If this were a Hasbro product, it would certainly sell.

These are very well done my friend. Great paint aps and color scheme. They are very crisp looking and better than factory fresh. The stand and back story are awesome as well. The only thing that looks a bit off is the length of the air hoses. Shorten them up a bit and these guys will look a bit better to me. Still great customs though.

Hey everyone, here's some custom republic commando's that i've been working on this week. Coincidently the call for Karen Traviss to return also started this week, so im using these figures as a ploy on youTube to get some more people to join the cause. The vids up already and you can watch it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-TMqVO7EZY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-TMqVO7EZY).

Here they are:
Alpha Squad, deployed alongside Omega and Delta Squad, were elite clone commandos that participated in elite missions during the clone wars. Like other clone commando squads, Alpha squad was composed of 4 members. Boss, another clone commando was also known to accompany the team on special missions of urgency. These members were:

A'Den: A clone commando specialised in Jungle warfare. His name reflects his demeanour and brutal style of combat...merciless

Blackout: A clone commando trained specifically for urban warfare. If you've got CODMF2 you'll notice his camo scheme is actually the urban camo scheme that can be unlocked for primary weapons!!

Glitch: Technicians expert and the squads primary computer specialist. Trained in cracking any CIS codes and was used to change the message being sent out of the jedi temple after order 66 was issued.

Climber: Leader of the Airborne Assault corps, he is highly trained in high altitude combat and can scale any obstacle.

Thanks. i use citadel paints. But due to the sweltering heat here, the paint has sorta curdled and has gone really thick and gluggey and now only needs 1 coat to completely cover the figure!! Odd huh?

Looks great. cool video. going to the front page.

They look like the new Fi figure so I'd have to say evo, but where did you find all of them.

That's what I was thinking, evolutions. I just wonder how people afford all of the clones. I mean I have about 175 myself but I see guys with 500 or so. I guess some people just focus on Clones, or Jedi, or just Star Wars period. Myself, I collect figures from everything, movies, comics, video games, superheros, etc. If those are from the Evolutions pack, you must be the reason why I can't find any huh?

A fantastic seller on eBay sold me the commandos. Her eBay user name is Xinguang6688. She's great. Sold me the Fi's, some starships, AT-AP's and an AT-RT. I usually email her what i want and she goes and finds it and sends me an invoice. Obviously, the figures are seconds, but for customising they're perfect. A small scratch or ill fitting backpack can easily be painted over or adjusted so they fit well.

Seconds? You mean factory rejects? You don't think that they were acquired without the factory's knowledge, do you?
The sellers of factory seconds are just piling up anymore. I guess that I can't blame them as times are tight all over and I am sure that these people are doing what they can to survive.

I honestly don't know. I would think that she operates the same way tunghori does. I know his are factory rejects, but i have no idea how they acquire them. Maybe they sell them to these other sellers, rather than just destroying the rejected items?!?!

Great customs!   I'm glad you included the backstory of the mando related with the "Last of the Jedi" book series.  (I've almost finished the series!)  Again, great job and can't wait to see more! bbfet

Hey everyone!
Heres another custom i have made recently. Hope you like him!!

Darth P'Sari - In an altered reality, General Grievous chooses to take Nahdar Vebb hostage rather than killing him. Corrupt, and fuelled by hatred and through a lack of faith in his abilities, Nahdar turns to the dark side. Named Darth P'Sari by the fiendish droid leader, the new sith assassin led numerous missions on Grievous' behalf, and helped to maintain Grievous' position as leader of the droid army. However, when accompanying Grievous to Coruscant on his mission to kidnap the Chancellor, P'Sari's shuttle was shot down and crashed in the under-city, and he was not heard from since.

I have nothing but high praise for this custom!  The colors are rich and clean as a whistle, the back story is compelling, and in the Star Wars universe, totally possible.  I wish I had even ONE of these, not to mention others to customize!
