Hello everybody !
For my first post, I like to show you one of my project (not finished yet), a multiple diorama with some scenes on the DS I and DS II
(http://byfiles.storage.live.com/y1pYGmpUtCh7LsTEiw8M2od5V5khZdX86NR4v_okN-F9l5GLh_4KdF1yeHAo7O9oQGcyheCU3UAoT9YlmDepC98uA)
Enjoy !
-
Those look very nice DR! Smooth, simple, and elegant. They look fairly large as well, where do you have such room for all of these?
-
Thank you. :)
I'm lucky, I've got a room especially for dioramas ;)
DS dio dimensiosn are +/- 2 meters long, 90 cm large, and actually 150 cm height.
-
Wow, what sweet scenes! I like!
I really like how you have integrated those ties with the whole shuttle scene. It really looks classy. I am also loving the lighting you are using with your other scenes. I really like the custom backgrounds too.
-
Very nice work there, DR!! I too like the shuttle scene quite a bit. In the multi level DS interior dio, what are you using for lighting?
-
Very good indeed, looking forward to seeing it completed.
-
For Briefing room and Detention Block I use multiple leds with a 12V power supply.
Same thing for light tubes on Falcon Bay.
For background of Hallway, a simple 40w bubble on back and 2 leds.
I have add an neon tube on Lambda Shuttle level.
Link to bigger picture of the attachement : Click here (http://imperial-revenge.com/img_part/test_ds_neon_1_big.jpg).
As you can see, I've added Tie Bomber above the shutlle. Picture take without any other lightning than dioramas's lights, no flash used.
-
Just started to add the elevator in Falcon Bay (important, ask some troopers onboard...)
-
sweet, hope you give up more pics!
-
Of course ;)
Some things to do on it, and I think you will have pix tomorrow ;D
-
Sorry for the dealy, but things goe wrong, needed to rebuild another elevator, first was not as I want finally.
Second layer of paint this evening...
-
Here it is !
Not really movie accurate, but it whas not easy, all is glued, screwed, and I have to make a hole in the floor...
-
looks good to me!
-
Too cool, DR! More please.
-
I'm making some wall details, you will see them when finished ^^
-
Need some work on it (inside of the blastdoor, and paint).
Above it, pipes will take place
-
Now that is gonna look great!
-
Look'n Real Good !! ;)
-
Looking great! Bring on those pipes!
-
Not enough time for pipes today...
But the work must go on ;D
-
Sweet!
-
That looks great! I love those shots from the perspective of someone just stepping off the Falcon!
-
I've received the BMF, so... ;D
-
You are gonna have a total "small" set here before too long!
-
Now working on few details for the "Emperor's Arrival Bay".
New subject will be create soon, stay tuned and don't hesitate for comments, suggestions, and more !
-
Figures are not correctly aligned, I put them just for fill ^^
Added some details on the wall.
-
Oh yeah! Better!
-
Thank you !
Lastest shot, overallview.
At the top, you can see places for Executor Bridge and Throne Room.
-
Man, I have said it before, I just love the sheer size of these!
-
What an incredible display of diorama goodness. I would pay to tour your shop, DR!
-
WOW !! :o
Most Awesome... (http://smilies.vidahost.com/contrib/edoom/biggrinbounce.gif)
-
Absolutely amazing. I am so jealous. great work.
-
A new shot with new Detention Block project before taking down all of this for moving...
-
A new shot with new Detention Block project before taking down all of this for moving...
Nice shot, franck. Where are you moving to, buddy?
-
Dioramas are moving to my new office room.
Less surface available, so I need to rebuild them with smaller sizes and I need to change some things on them.
-
Like I said before, Dios are moving.
So here are pics of the rebuild of them.
First shot from yesterday, second from now.
This level will be the Emperor's arrival one.
-
What are you using that gets you such a glossy black shine for your floor??
-
Acrylic paint, simply ;D
-
Ok, easy enough. What material did you use for the floor and how did you prepare it for painting?
-
different wood stucks, depend of what I find.
Just sand them and paint...
Today's pix :
-
Very cool! Ok, I didn't think you could make wood shine THAT much from paint!!
-
looing good to me Franck.
-
You are moving on those, Franck! A man with a mission.
-
waiting to see more :D
-
Slowly, very slowly...
But I sure do it ! ;D
-
Nice progress pics there, Franck!! You are moving along, arn't you?
-
Boy, he is!! Keep at it and keep showing pics!
-
very nice Franck. I like! Keep those updates coming.
-
First layer of paint is done, let it dry before second and new pictures ;D
-
Done !
-
Nice work, Franck!! Man, that floor sure does look glossy! Is it time for ships and figures, yet?
-
Not yet.. Walls need some details, and rear rooms need some works too.
;D
-
*Beautiful* glossy shine on the floor!
-
that floor does look good. Nice work Franck.
-
Thanks all for your comments ! I really appreciate them 8)
Let's go for two new pix. An idea I have last year for my first 'StarWars Rendez-Vous' in july 2008.
I made some changes for adaptation, not really movie accurate at all, but I don't bother ;D ;D.
(By the way, has anyone a tie fighter to sell at low price ?)
-
Nice gantry for the fighters, franck! That is really cool. I love it!
-
Agreed!..that is going to be so neat when completed!
-
very nice Franck. I like that operation!
-
Pre-assembly test before painting ;D
-
Nice, Franck! I really like the view of the wall details beyond that far door.
-
Now that is what I call a Diorama. I can see where you are coming from here, you want to make the biggest and baddest Death Star Playset on the planet. I absolutely love it, the scale is just eye popping. Nice racks by the way (that's Tie Fighter Racks for the dirty minded amongst you).
Unlike mine, which is basically an extension of the Niub Niub school of dioramas, you are doing your own interpretation as far as design and maerials go, and for that you deserve every credit.
While I was scrolling down I was thinking that it could do with some wall detailing, and as I get to the last post, sure enough you are doing just that.
I think that you are producing one of the most original and ambitious projects I've seen so far this year, and as far as Death Star's go, there really isn't anything that comes close. I am really looking forward to seeing it evolve as this could be one of the best Dio's/Playsets on the net.
Very best wishes,
Hangarbay94....
-
You heard him, Franck. your death star rocks!
-
Wow, Franck. Haven't talked to you in a while. The Death Star is coming along Great!
-
Thanks buddies !
Hangarbay => this diorama isn't the biggest, because I collapse the first one who was longer and larger for moving into my office. ;D
This afternoon, i'll try to wood-work for level above the main blastdoor.
Next step is illuminate all of this with bulb light, neon and leds.
Next : Emperor's arrival level needs some work (wall details, lightning, Ties racks, repaint of the floor for the main)
Next : Doing lateral room next to the main dio : detention block, conference room, maybe garbage room, and sure Luke' escape above the pitt ;D
Next : Doing Hoth Battle above the Faclon bay level
Next : produce a new Jabba's palace, enhanced of course, need to put my new rancor on it ^^
Next : My interpretation of Endor's landing Platform (be careful, many souls can't stand vision of dead ewoks, crushed by At-St)
Next : Executor Bridge
Next : he, I don't know yet, but it's a question of time ^^

Wow, that's some schedule. I can just see you amongst all of your creations, just like that iconic image of Lucas sitting amongts all of his Str Wars models. It certainly gives plenty to look forward to.
-
I will be looking foward to that Hoth battle!
-
Awesome !! Just simply Awesome !!! (http://smilies.vidahost.com/contrib/edoom/cool_shades.gif)
I haven't made anything on that scale before.(http://smilies.vidahost.com/contrib/edoom/biggrinbounce.gif)
I've done floor mounted before but I've been in Shelf mode going on 6 years now. Even though some of my wall mounted projects have got'n a little out of hand !! (http://smilies.vidahost.com/cwm/cwm/eek5.gif)
My son has showed me from his video game the many ways the empire hangs there smaller ships.
Incorporating some ideas from those in the future I hope to do.
Your a Great Inspiration Franck .
Keep up the Good Work !!! (http://smilies.vidahost.com/otn/wink/thumb.gif)
-
Sounds like you are going to be busy, Franck. I am glad that you are up and running again and cant wait to see more of your killer projects.
-
Pre-assembly test before painting ;D
This will look fantastic!
-
I've made some changes, here is the result :
-
Daggone nice Franck!
-
Wow! Were those upper windows there, before? You are going to out do the other version that you did, Franck! This is looking sweet!
-
Splendid!!
-
how did you make the windows so perfect?
Very nice.
I"m also looking forward to the Hoth battle.
-
About the windows above Vader's Blastdoor, they were not on previous version, but on a old, old, old version of my first attempt.
I just take a piece of wood, draw lines on it, drill and cut ^^.
Stucks of plexi are going to take place on the window's holes.
I just finished to draw other rooms plan (conference room, detention blocks, etc).
Those rooms will be in a different place that last time, you will see ^^
-
Holy Turbo Lasers Batman,
There are going to be rooms added as well? That's no moon it's a Space Station... :)
You are coming dangerously close to making may favouite Diorama ever!!!
-
Here we go...
Lightning test.
Shot without flash, by day.
-
Wow, DR! The lighting in that hall loos great! You go, buddy.
-
AWESOME!! I, for one, would absolutely love to see shots/details of your lighting installation(s).
-
that lighting does look good Franck. You sure are rolling on this one.
-
Hold on to your butt 8) A little test with some figures
-
very nice Franck. Boy does it look good with all those figures on it. I take it this is the top level?
-
Wow, Franck! Are you that close to being done? Looks great with the Falcon in there!
-
Lightning : a single light (bulb), efficacity with simplicity ;)
It's the middle level of this part. Above it, Hoth Battle , and don't forget the first level : Emperor Arrival.
Next to the Vader's hallway, the others room (detention block, conference room, etc) with a special level not annouced before ;D
Many, many many things to do so. This topic isn' t close to end ;D ;D
-
Revenge,
Your Death Star is so Awesome, that I have been blinded by it's awesomeness, the orange lights are a master stroke.
From one Death Star officianado to another, you have made the Kessle Run in less than 2 parsects, oveshot the Galactic Border and are well into Deep Space... I bow to you.
(can I let go of my Butt now?)...
-
LOL!
-
It's growing !
All first and second levels details to do
-
Ok, let's work on first level now...
2 previews
-
that is wonderful, I am still so wanting an interceptor, lol.
-
Sweet pics, Franck!! you are moving at a fast pace getting this one together. Very nice!
-
Once again, a preview of the growing thing ;)
Upper briefing room is the old one, all will be redone for fitting in correctly.
I'm not sure of keeping Vader's Hallway level as is, because lack of lightning.
Detention blocks level will receive some lightning enhancements of course.
-
This is awesome, love the TIE rack there!!
-
Lightning tests for Detention Block before painting, gue and some other things ;D ...
Shots with and without flash, by day condition and night condition.
-
Just when I thought the structure was complete you add more. This is now officially the Ultimate Death Star Diorama, I've not seen anything that compares...Just don't give up!!
-
Franck, you are on a roll , sir. This is turning out so much better than your already great first version. Spectacular, buddy!
-
Thanks buddies !
-
This will be something really unique!! :o :o :o
-
I've done some job on the Vader's Hallway.
Need some adjustments and a full paint job.
Have a look here :
-
Looks great, Franck!
I believe that you are due to a front page update.
-
Wow. I have just been looking at the additions since I have been on vacation. Outstanding. Looks like this is really taking shape now.
-
I love the way you've seamlesly integrated Hasbro/kenner parts into your set.
-
SUPERB!

You can't keep good news like this off the front page!
-
Another "test", Detention Block and Hallway.
-
Two others pix :
-
Love all of the detail, it just keeps getting better and better....
-
I like that detention block passageway. Killer!
-
That lighting sure is great too. Wow, is this looking nice.
-
Very cool dio of the Death Star. I've been wanting to make one that's so expansive for a while.
Your rendition looks wicked. Excellent job!
-
Shot with ambiant light of my first attempt with foamcore.
Decals are form niubniub, but they aren't use for what they're first made ;)
Internal lightning with a superflux led.
Background picture may be removed for another.
-
Yay, that is awesome Darth.
-
Great job on the diorama, Franck. It's looking great!
-
Thanks buddies ;)
-
That's crazy cool, Franck!
-
Beautiful diorama and the lighting is excellent. Nice viewstation and the ability to change the pics is another great touch.
Great work.
-
That station is awesome! I really like that and the fact that you can change the pic!
-
Wow - NOICE computer station!!! I'd love some more detailed pics of it - and its construction, if possible.
-
I'll second that one. The computer station would come in really useful for my projects.
-
I like it!!! I especially like how you have used the Hasbro playset in there as well, the lighting is great as well. the detail is amazing.
-
Just one word: SUPERB!! And since it comes from an Imperial fan it means a lot!! ;)
-
Need to redo all my dioramas... (too long to explain here)
I will create new topipcs for each of them.
-
I'm tried in waiting for Hasbro playset started making my own Death Star for the kids and I to play with Starting the 4th floor of the Death Star will soon post pics
-
Wow that Death Star is awesome! Did you make everything out of wood? Nice details and that holding cell hallway is super well done. Then you make a computer terminal with a light up screen!?! and you can change out the photos!?! This is so cool!
