We wouldn't do that! We were all new at one time and had to figure this out too.
The PM system stands for personal message and allows you to send messages through this forums which you access on the top forums tool bar under messages. Jay was quite correct in that you won't be able to reply to pms until you have 10 forum posts as this is a security feature common to all smf forums systems. It is designed to ensure you are not a bot or a spammer. Some of the early folks can remember what we had in our forums back when we first got started. Lets just say it was less than PG-13 rating which is what we try to stay at.
You can access the pm address for each person if you look right under their avatar on the lower right you will see 3 icons. I believe the pm one is the one on the lower right. Once again if you have any questions just let us know.
