Title: Evolutions Imperial Pilots Series II
Post by: Clonehead on September 21, 2009, 12:36:05 PM
This is the last of the three new Walmart Evo sets that I needed to review and the one that I was most excited about.
At $24.99 these are priced higher than last year's evo packs but it's a walmart exclusive and higher prices come with the territory.

The biggest draw for me to this set was the Republic Gunship clone pilot because of the newer helmet sculpt that has never surfaced before. ""didn't someone mention that this is what the v-wing pilot's helmet looked like?"
The Helmet has a molded on set of hoses and a floating airbox like the evo aotc gunship pilot. It's head sculpt looks like the aotc removable helmet clone's from the collector tins from a couple of years back. This figure comes with the standard DC-15 blaster and the body is an old sculpt that is super arty except for at the waist which doesn't have a joint at all. The belt is also molded on."i hate that"I do like the paint apps on the helmet, airbox, and shoulderpads.

Marked as the V-wing starfighter Clone pilot, this figure is a repaint of the imperial pilot evo 1 sets rots clone pilot figure except the airbox hoses are permanantly mounted to his helmet. The airbox has a peg for mounting to the figure's chest.  This figure also comes with a DC-15 blaster and is also slightly superarty with no ankle articulation what so ever.

Now the Imperial Tie Fighter Pilot appears to be the Biggs Tie fighter pilot from last year's evo set 1 with a different clone head and a closed front removable helmet with the air hoses from the airbox, also a fixed attachment. This aribox also has a peg for mounting to the figure's chest. This figure comes with a different pistol than the biggs figure but has the same seperatly molded belt and holster combo to hold it. This figure is super arty except at the ankles "no surprise there"

It is a great looking set but the lack of articulation on all three figures leaves me wanting a bit more. I wonder if the limited waist articulation of the gunship pilot will hinder his getting into the new Geonosis assault battle pack gun pod. As that set is the next review that I will do, we will find out together.

yea he is based on the V-WING Pilot from the crossections book from episode 3  if you have this book take a look. I have 2 of these Pilots myself I would like to trade for some TIE Pilots if anyone is interested.

I love the TIE Pilot in this set, he is released with the Target exclusive TIE Fighter I am hoping that they will put these bad boys on a card so Army building will be easier
