DS, I've just been looking over these again, especially the Mandos, the skull helmet on the black one is such a great design! Was that your idea, or is it taken from an actual character?

Also the sandy brown one, the use of flat matt on the trousers has made me consider a re-think on the way I paint my customs as the matt creates a very realistic effect...

Have you made any of these as customs yourself?

Thanks Julian!

That skull Mando is NOT my design. I was searching for Mandolorians in google images one day and a comic picture of this guy came up. Also, one day on this site (I think), I was looking through the custom figure thread and saw someone had a real custom of this guy. The color scheme is mine, but that skull helmet design is not.

I haven't done a real custom of any of the Mandos. I intend to though. When I do a VC and I'm working on a shiny figure I try to tone that shine down a bit. Especially where it is supposed to represent cloth clothing. It's okay if armor is shiny, but to me it looks better if cloth is represented as more of a matte finish. With the Mandolorian shiny armor on top of a matte suit it really pops!

Yes, that's what I noticed, the contrast between the armour and the cloth was very eye catching, it is an effect that smacks in the eye all those people who blend and exaggerate lines, a simple clean coat of matt that looks very realistic....

Interesting....very interesting!

I've been trying to get out a few more updates, but being at the end of an outside project has eaten time like crazy. I usually try to do around three at a time but all I got this time is one.  :(

That's okay I've got a bunch in the works.

There are so many great movies out there about the GREAT HUNT! BIG GAME in Africa and so on. Even KING KONG was kind of a Big Game type of movie. I had just watched "MOGAMBO" with Clark Gable and Eva Gardner and found some inspiration. A few days later I caught part of the 1933 version of "KING KONG" and it all came together! I added in Richard Widmark who, himself was know for big game hunting and the great Wallace Beery who in 1925 stared in the adaptation of Sir Conan Doyle's "LOST WORLD" and the following is what I spit out...

"KING KRAYT" is the tale of Vikter Stalker and his mates, tracker Zimmer Challenger and weapons expert Gerran Otto. The pack was well known throughout the Galaxy for their hunting prowess. They would hunt anything in any conditions and always come home with the kill.

When Vikter begins to hear tales of a massive "KING" Dragon on the planet Tatooine he cannot resist. He packs up his team and heads out on the hunt which would prove to be the challenge of his and his teams lives. The harsh environment of Tatooine was unforgiving! Bandits, Tusken Raiders and a nest of Sarlacc were only the tip of the iceberg for the haggard men before they found the KING KRAYT!!!!!

I never did like the standard version of what a Krayt Dragon is supposed to look like so I beefed him up a little. How do you like my version?

Wow, another great one.

What I wouldn't give to see this in the Theatres or read the comic book! On the front page.

My God!  Another amazing piece of work!

I agree: the Krayt dragon looks vicious; really nice job beefing this guy up.  He really does carry that "Lost World" feel to him; loved that film when I was a kid...

Really loving how this came together!

Light side, dark side...meh.  Just give me a lightsaber and a blaster and I'll take care of it!

Art! Always a pleasure to hear from you, sir!

Thank you for the compliment! It means a lot!

Love that Vader-esk Mando over on your thread! It reminds me of the old Reeses Peanut Butter Cup commercial.....

Hey! You got Vader in my Fett!

The Lost World ROCKED!!!!!

Most of these covers are all about nostalgia. It's about being a kid again. It's also about saluting the "ROOTS" of Star Wars.

The next one is a good example and a farewell too.

On June 3 we all lost a childhood treasure.

I idolized JAMES ARNESS/MARSHAL MATT DILLON when I was a youngster. I've seen every episode of "GUNSMOKE" from Denise Weaver to Buck Taylor! I still watch it today, much to my wife's dismay.

I was taken back when I turned on the computer and saw his picture on the front page of Yahoo and read that he had passed away.  :(

This ones for you Marshal. I still got my cap popin' six shooters and gun belt...

You will be missed.
