Hi, new here and thought I'd like to put some customs up for critiquing. Since I'm new to customizing these aren't that great but they're a start. Thanks to Lucasclones for inspiring me to customize.
Sorry for the blurry pics

Can't see the pictures.
If you use the fourth code in your album on photobucket (the img code). That is the ticket to see the pictures in the post.
Welcome to ISY by the way.
-
thanks Tamer
-
Nice customs man! Really like that marine!

Welcome to Isy. Your first update is now on our front page.

OMG! You can bend his knees (come on Hasbro, they should be that way from the start)
-
Great looking customs and very nicely weathered clones! I totally agree with you on Hasbro's idea of articulation on their latest figures.
-
heres a new one, thats a custom gun too. I gave him some extra articulation by thining out the armor by the joints too
(http://i1310.photobucket.com/albums/s658/rexsmoke/DSC08899_zps952b1d36.jpg)

-
Nice RC and DC-17! That's a very cool approach to the DC Sniper attachment, I'm impressed. :)
And nah, you didn't go overboard on the gore lol ;) He looks really cool, is that a head coming out of his body armor there? Pretty cool stuff there, man!
-
Like the RC too. Back on the front page.
-
Yes, that is a head! lol actually to make this guy look like he was in an explosion I used a lighter to scorch and melt parts
-
Great looking figures and great work on the weathering.
Ron
-
Here's some more snow day figs.
Vintage Shadow Trooper
(http://i1310.photobucket.com/albums/s658/rexsmoke/DSC08902_zps063ede07.jpg)
-
The top of a bald head. Possibly Mace?
-
Nice looking Bo Katan!
-
Hey these are cool! Btw there is never too much gore for Death troopers lol
-
The top of a bald head. Possibly Mace?
Wow! nice guess! they were bald clone heads
-
HAHAHAHA!!!! So close. That was a truly genious idea!
-
HAHAHAHA!!!! So close. That was a truly genious idea!
Ya i had it sculpted on but sadly, around here they dont sell Aves so it fell off and I was desperately looking for something round and I saw some bald heads in my fodder box
-
Heres a new Imperial Sniper that I made thanks to some parts I got from Clonehead:

Here some more new ones. the black commandos were my first ever customs and the other one is Link from The Legend Of Zelda. Everything on Link turned out good except the head.
-
Wow, lots of great ones. And man that Link is cool too even though I had to go with that Imp. Sniper for the front page story.
-
Thanks Tamer but on the front page you called him Zelda!! Thats the name of the princess in the game, not the hero!!
-
Well we can't have everybody thinking he is the princess. Name changed.
-
awesome update !!! love that sniper
-
Cool stuff. I have follow you on youtube i think when you did a reveiw on the black commando right?
-
Rex, I like em all but that sniper rocks, buddy! And not just because he is wearing my parts, I mean, he really looks good.
-
Cool stuff. I have follow you on youtube i think when you did a reveiw on the black commando right?
ya, I showed off my boomer and custom DC-17 sniper. my collection is also on there.
-
You should do more vids like that. I subscribed and watched them all.
-
here's a realistic style Rex. He's not the best but he's cool
(http://i1310.photobucket.com/albums/s658/rexsmoke/DSC08966_zps9e700466.jpg)
-
excellent sniper, great work.
i love the deco, is the helmet from the green clone captain?
-
Did I miss this one, Rex? Nice! I do love realistic cw customs.
-
Nice realistic Rex! Good choice with the pauldron, and the skirt looks nice too.
-
Heres some new ones, I havent really been doing many customs lately but I picked up some shock trooper in retro packaging for $8 and decided I needed a squad leader. I have a couple things in the works right now: an astromech and a bull rancor.
Luitenant Surf:
Head off coruscant underworld anti-riot squad.

-
The Clone line up (2nd photo on 1st post) is awesome but of course so are the rest!!!!! ;D
-
Pretty cool tusken raider jedi, is that a'sharad?
yes it is
-
Looking good for being new to customizing. Keep up the great work!
-
Looks good. Update on the front page.
-
Here's a few new ones. There's a clone wars shock trooper and an Imperial Heavy demolitions expert.

very well done!
-
very well done!
Thanks!
-
Nice REX.
-
Nice work! Loving that demo expert!
-
Oh yeah, that Demo expert is cool! Nice one RS.
-
Nice update, back on the front page.
-
I really like that demo expert. Very nice work!
-
Love that Stormtrooper... it's a shame you didn't make that for the Episode VII contest... because it looks like it would have been perfect for it.

-
The Storm Trooper is stealing the show for me too. The weathering looks great.
-
Awesome
-
The demolitions expert looks fantastic! I like the added TOR pauldron. Did you "wash" that stormie or is that the sandtrooper fig from the TLC collection (2008)? Either way, good choice; the grime befits this guy in particular.
I loved the look of TCW shock trooopers better than the live-action ones in ROTS. Yours is perfect! Nice job on the paint details: nice and bright!
-

But the empire is dead after EP VI besides the imperial remnant isn't it? So there isn't any storm troopers left.

It's the TAC storm trooper
-
Well I sure hope all the Stormies aren't gone. I was kinda hoping some of them would get some visions of grandeur and kind of start their own garrisons, etc. Thats the cool thing about all this, its open to whatever interpretation.
Gotta agree with Chewie though, this would have made one cool contest entry.

I wasnt even thinking about the contest when I made this. At the moment I have no idea what I'm going to make for it.
-
Well please don't let us twist your arm here as we are just really enjoying your customs.
And Saturday is the end of the contest if you were wondering how long you had.
-
I did some new figure recently: Hardcase and an outland trooper. The outland trooper is still a WIP.
-
I did a few more in my free time during spring break: Kazdan Paratus, Jawa in costume, Fox with articulated knees and ankles, a touched up version of my earlier Kix, and that last one is just for fun.

And I have a question for all you experienced customizers out there, what kind of glue do you guys use? I try to stick to using super glue (get it? "stick to super glue" lol) but it doesn't work for kitbashing guns and sabers since they're so small and then hot glue just looks sloppy and drips.
-
Dude, I LOVE the Jawa in costume and the trooper with the frying pan! Absolutely awesome!
-
I love he Jawa in R2 costume; great idea!
As for your question about glues: I use a plastics-only super glue that I bought at a local Home Depot. It comes with a small bottle use to prepare the surfaces of the two pieces of plastic you want to join and then a second bottle of the actual glue. (Cant remember the name brand off the top of my head, but its the standard brand sold there.) The glue must be held together for about 30 seconds to achieve the "hold" you want. It works pretty well for holding weapons, as well as figure parts, together (at least in my experience).
-
OK thanks JediMerc
-
I really like you Fox fix. Nice work.
Your update is on the front page.
-
great work! love all the comedic touches loved the Fox and Jawa lol
-
Nice work, Rex! That Jawa is funny.
-
Got a few more here: Massif handler and a camo mando

-
Sweet work, Rex! Which one do you want on the front page?
-
Probably the mando.
-
That mando looks pretty sweet!
-
Thanks!
-
OK, I will put it up in the morning.
-
What a great update !!! loved that stormtrooper with the frying pan as well as that jawa really clever !! The mando looks fantastic well done !!!
-
Great update.
-
Nice work, the paint apps on both these guys are great, especially on the ARF's helmet.
-
haha love the jawa costume too funny. great job on the 501st troops, i been meaning to getting around to doing some realistic versions just no time yet. as far as the glue goes i stick to gel type, can't remember the brand off the top of my head but it has a blue cap and the squeezable sides are blue too. i find at walmart/target. it makes a heck of a lot easier to control the flow of the glue, and easier to wipe off (quickly) if when u join parts together and theres some "spillage" also makes for great filler for those gaps that in some parts when joined too.

Bull Rancor:
This is a figure ( beast really) that I really feel hasbro should have done that would have sold like crazy. And finally I got around to doing one myself.

-
Bump. Does no one like my rancor?
-
Rex my friend, people are busy, give everyone time to see the thread. The Rancor looks great, what did you use for the tusks? Also loving the Mando and Mastif Handler.
-
I like it. I have been trying for two days to find time to front page it which I have now done.
I think Spry is correct, if folks are doing even half of what I am doing in their own backyards right now they are probably too pooped to get onto their electronic devices. Give folks time to respond.
-
Rex! That is an awesome beast! Way to scary for SW! Love the tusks! Great use of bones! The drool is really cool to! Great looking Rancor Bull! :)
-
I like it you did a great job. Cn I have it? lol jk. But Tamer and spry are right. Spring is here and there is a lot of yard work. I have 2 boys and I coach thier teams. Between games and practices, thats 5 to 6 nights a week. So sorry for the late respond, really like it. Are those real bones? If so, what are they from?
My two greatest loves Baseball and Star Wars. ( besides my family )
-
stupendous work!
-

Well it's a little gross but I actually used real bones. My house is on property in the middle of the woods and we hunt so I used some old bones I found in the woods. After that I boiled them and cleaned them with bleach
-
sorry its been so long but i just havent had any figures to use for customs.
501st Stormtrooper:

-
anyone know where i can get some cheap realistic style clones?
-
The Marshalls near me has been carrying shock troopers. I think they are around five or 6 bucks. Also if you have a Five Below near you, that's a great pace to find cheap figures.
-
ya i can check my marshals and TJ max. sadly the nearest five below is about and hour and a half away. thanks though
-
That's some great detailing on the stormie and Wolfpack clone; the helmet design looks like it would have been a pain at that size!
I was scrolling through your thread and loved the work you did with the bleached bones on the bull rancor and, even though it was an older image, the Jawa in droid disguise was a great idea! You've got some good stuff here, can't wait to see more!
-
I had an old POTF Dewback that I was dissapointed with hasvbros job on. I redid the saddle and touched up the skin.

-
Yeah, that would have gone pretty well with your Urban Stormtrooper.
-
Thanks!
-
Once the contest is over you'll have to throw up some pics of them together.
-
ya they do look great together. its a shame i cant share a pic yet
-
looks great!
-

Looks cool! Is there a carpet/rug in your house that looks like it's got a groove in it?
-
This dew back pities the po' fool who doesn't think this custom is awesome!
-
Very cool. I love the idea of a mane on a Dewback. Back on the front and facebook page.
-

Does anyone know of a spray paint that wouldnt melt the plastic on a 2008 rancor
-
I like the update. Let me go share it before my internet time leaves me again.
-
Nice work. I like the paint apps on the shadow clone.
-
Does anyone know of a spray paint that wouldnt melt the plastic on a 2008 rancor
When I want a nice even coat of paint, Krylon Fusion has been working for me. It even stays put in the ball joints. I believe the company has a whole new line of spray paint that works on plastic. I'm getting ready to post something I did for my daughter X-mas 2012. I'll give you a heads up.
BTW. ... Love Bly.
Did you get your Stormies?

Cool photos. I remember something on the internet with an Ewok facing off against a squirrel. These have a lot more spontaneity to them.
Happy Birthday. DH
BTW. Heads up on my Krylon Fusion spray paint application.
-
How cool is that! And Happy Birthday. Off to share.
-
Thanks guys
-
So for my Bday last week I got some figures to use as customs and then I also got some Gundam paint pens. I heard about them from the owner of a toy shop in chicago when I was there a few months back. Theyre made for Gundam models (they look sorta like transformers) but they are the same kind of plastic that figures are made of. So I tried them out on a Gregor I was working on and they are awesome! They cover any color (even neon Boss orange) with usually 1 coat. The white covers up any unwanted stripes or details on clones perfectly and then the fine tipped pens are stupendous. I used them for the hash marks and they look amazing. If you guys haven't tried these I highly recommend them. At least give the fine tip and white pens a try. I know there on amazon so go check them out.

Thanks for the info about the pen/markers. Sounds like painting just got a little easier for some figures.

Cool. Like the realistic clones!

I too really enjoy seeing TCW Clones done up in a realistic style. Wow, how bout those Paint Pens. I just had to search these out on ebay:
Ebay Link for Gundam Paint Pens (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575055288&toolid=10001&campid=5337377665&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_odkw%3DJurassic%2BPark%2Bdino%2Bshowdown%2Ballosaurus%26_sop%3D15%26_osacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xgundam%2Bpaint%2Bpens%26_nkw%3Dgundam%2Bpaint%2Bpens%26_sacat%3D0)

Ya these are the ones. Be sure to look around a bit and find the right seller because they often come from over seas and that can be expensive
-
Great stuff! I knew about these pens for years now, but I didn't now they worked on figures! You can find them by the dozens in model/hobby stores.

Cool, would they be at hobby lobby thats the only hobby place around here
-
I have no idea. :\ They're pretty common in Japanese/Chinese model and hobby stores. But I'd definitely take a look at your local store; from my experience, they're usually displayed in a rack at the cashier counter, but you can always ask them! :D
-
You're clones are very impressive. Nice work! Great job on your first figure review on the new 6 inch Sandtrooper also.

Thanks that means alot coming from a great customizer like you

Excellent stuff here, I have seen these paint pens around before I might have to give them a try after seeing these customs.

Rex is on the front page.

That realistic Rex looks great! Keep it up and if you have any more info on the paint pens send it my way; I would love to try them out.

nice job!!

I was never into the clone customs until I started seeing awesome work like this and have to admit that I now see the fun and challenge of it because having done a handful I am still in awe (and to be honest sometimes envious) of the detail put into these and the sharp lines of the armor decoration. Great work!

Thanks, you should really start doing some. They're a ot of fun to make because there's really no limit on what clones can have on their armor. Their paint apps come from their imagination and i figure i might as well use mine for clone armor too!

I think that might be the first zombie six inch death trooper I have seen! My comments are on the front page.
This looks great, now all we need is a zombie head under there with a cut up bucket.

Ya I didnt have and extra heads otherwise I would have done that.

I hear you. We need to get some head casts (I am thinking the Walking Dead or World War Z) that that Sandtrooper Bucket hollowed out!

all around awesomeness

Ok so here's my next 6" custom. A Imperial troop transport gunner. Give me your thoughts.

Once again catching up since page 9! Really nice work with the Gundam markers. I am loving the 6 inch troopers too! On your AT-AT Driver hoses, try GI Joe Paratrooper hoses, they should be about right.

If you listen to our last podcast with Dayton. He talks about it. Sounds like a lot of trial and error till he figured it out.

Sorry about the long wait between updates. Haven't been able to find a 6" Sandtrooper for the AT-AT Driver's body. So I was finally able to get my hands on some good fodder at a toy show this weekend in Kalamazoo Michigan. It was really a blast to go and I got some good stuff too, 2 animated Gentle Giant statues , a sandtrooper bust, and ArtFX Boba Fett , and A load of other figures. I thought the prices were good, but that's for you guys to judge if you go. If you're ever in this area you should check it out, I highly recommend it. It's every thanksgiving weekend, and every May also. So you probably don't enjoy hearing me ramble on like this so I'll cut to the chase: I made this guy out of a Stormie I got at the Toy expo by etching out the extra parts to the visor and adding some parts.
P.S. Does anyone have an extra staff for the newest version of Amanaman?

Very nice work and great looking trooper!

Thanks guys. And actually I just realized that its not the Amanaman staff I need but the Amanin staff from the comic pack. P.S. How do I remove the poll at the top of the page?
-
Just removed it for you buddy.

Nice scratch built booth, but I think my favorite part is the Rancor's look of stunned surprise that Han pulled his blaster. :)
-
lol Hadn't noticed that!
-
Really enjoying the WIP pics of the AT-AT Driver. The alteration to the troopers helmet is great. And see poor Greedo didn't have a chance with Solo shooting first, very well done on the cantina seats and table.

Long time no post! It's been a while but I assure you I haven't stopped customizing or collecting. I have 3 new figures to show you guys, Tup and the 501st clone are for me but the Wolffe is a commission. Before we get to the picture I have 2 questions: 1. On a scale of 1-10 how out of scale do you think the newest dewback looks in relation to six inch figures(10 being it looks perfect and 1 being since when did sand troopers ride babies?) 2. I have a Roron Corobb figure and I'm not to happy with his swivel elbows so I am looking for replacement arms. Any ideas Pablo Jill is almost perfect except I just need thinner upper arms.

Nice, I like that second one. I think the bucket work on it with the weather (deep) is great. Off to share.
Personally, I would think the current Dewback would look very good on six inch figure. I think if you stay patient you may even be happy as early as SDCC, but no doubt if they are hinting at making wampas and taun tauns they will make this one eventually too. I have no insider info, but it even makes too much sense even for Hasbro to be irrational about imo.
-
Great looking Tup and Commander Wolffe! Keep up the awesome work!

Thanks!

I tried the 6" sandy riding the newest dewback and it is to big for the dewback. But it got me thinking that the dewback would be a good size to customize to look like a different creature and then it would be perfect.
The other option I was thinking was the 12" Hasbro dewback, height wise it looks good but the length of it might be to long.

I know. Once you start using Aves, you use it for almost everything.
I also know what you mean about those High Def close ups. Before you make any tweaks, pick up Obi and have a good look at him, first. I was going to touch up my Bariss Offee based on some flaws I caught on my images, but when I picked her up I realized how crazy that was. They're just too small.
Nice work.
You must be using some kind of template to get the texture on the cloth. Luke's tunic is a bit stark white, but I really like his leggings.
-
Love the texture on the robes, and the leg wraps do look great as Sjefke said.
-
Thanks to all of you. To get the texture for the robes I just took the piece I cut off the obiwan robe and gently pressed it on till the texture was imprinted.
-
Never thought of that. I should give that a try next time I sculpt some robes.
-
Been off the yards for quite a while so its time for a BIG update!
First up is a 6" scale Jawa! Made from a 3 3/4" Tusken raider in a jedi robe with his face details shaved off.
(http://i1310.photobucket.com/albums/s658/rexsmoke/6B304DD5-E429-4B56-971B-7A4EF7864E65_zps3pdvfjgu.jpg) (http://s1310.photobucket.com/user/rexsmoke/media/6B304DD5-E429-4B56-971B-7A4EF7864E65_zps3pdvfjgu.jpg.html)
Next is a 6" R2-Q5. I have now discovered painting astromechs is the most tedious thing ever. I have a whole new respect for wraithnine.
(http://i1310.photobucket.com/albums/s658/rexsmoke/832CD693-F9BE-47EE-8C0B-299FF77B7247_zpspsskxlum.jpg) (http://s1310.photobucket.com/user/rexsmoke/media/832CD693-F9BE-47EE-8C0B-299FF77B7247_zpspsskxlum.jpg.html)
And last but not least a 6" Gonk made from some tuperware containers.

On all accounts wow. That's a better rendition of Luke than Hasbro or Kenner have done in years. I want a jaws like that... and all those droids. Excellent paint job on the black and gold astromech, and the gonk droid... is that all from scratch?

I really like that Gonk. Time for a front page update.

Thanks Tamer.

Great idea you had there for that 6" series scaled Jawa.
That's using the ol' brainbox ;)
