Mel Gibson's Apocalypto
« on: January 24, 2010, 03:59:34 AM »
Great movie, Mel Gibson's latest released. I love his movies and i heard he is working at another right now
Apocalypto is about Mayas. This movie amde me sit and think about 2102. seems like their prophecies also come true :(( lol.

gonna post some pics of the movie soon!
great movie! do recommend it!

10/10

likes: -speaking in Maya language
           - there were just 2 or 3 professional actors and the other 50 let's say weren't
           - their costumes and make ups
           - the story

dislikes: - a bit to cruel and bloody and for some people it is not that suitable. i had no problem with it though

I hadn't seen this one.  It really didn't look too appealing to me, and his last couple movies with their overly religious views do not appeal to me at all.

I agree with Jay,   I heard all the hype, rented it and was left a little disapointed,

It was OK, great scenery and backgrounds,  I am glad I didn't plunk a 20 down on it to buy when it first came out.

It was a bit different. Almost historically acurate, and no real lack of story or action.
The subtitles were the problem for me.
I love the old kung-fu flicks with subtitles... you dont really need to read them to get the story, but you read them anyway for the first few times you see the film.
I read them the first time I saw this movie, but since then I dont really pay attention to it whenever it is on. The wife does lots of channel surfing to find what is on and never can really remember having seen a film until about the end of it.
She rents the same stuff over and over too. Even stuff we happen to own.
I did like it, but it lost its luster fast, and I wouldnt go out of my way to see it again none to soon.

there's no religious view. this is just how did the mayas destroy themselves
