I am surprised I haven't started a thread for this one being a major Mad Max fan.
I will get to news, rumors, and links later but I am calling it 1.5 as I believe it is to take place in between mad max 1 and the road warrior as the second movie was called here ini the states.
Here is some production footage that my brother came across today at a site called bleedingcool.com

Good intel Clint! I too am a hugh Mad Max fan and have been waiting to see something from the new movie!
-
I hadn't heard anything new and thought maybe the movie had died or something, good to hear it's still moveing forward.
Although I admit part of me wants to see Mel come back as an elderly Max still kicking tail

I would like that as well, Zed. I am still swamped and havent gotten to go into more detail here. It will come.
Hey Zed, i know this probably isn't your line but several years ago, a company offered a metal model of Mad Max and possibly his dog to go with a scale model car. They were not named mad max or the road warrior but it was supposed to be him. I am desperately seeking this metal figure but have had no luck. Do you have any clue where I could find one?

Clint, we have a forum member here awhile back who was a real Mad Max fan. He was from Australia and a big Tatooine Diorama maker (Wardog). Maybe he might have a line on this.

Came across this news story in TGdaily.com that claimed that Fury road is to take place after Thunderdome. I keep seeing pics of the old interceptor on the internet and wonder if it will be in some kind of flashback or something?

Looks cool. So the basic story is they are in a caravan trying to find a better place to live being attacked by bandits along the way. Oh yeah, thats a great script for a RW Movie. Can't wait to see some of those vehicle creations too. You know they are gonna pack some awesome firepower.

Anything new? Just wondering as so many movies are gearing up now it seems this one faded out again.
-
just found out from this cast list on wiki that Mel Gibson is to play the part of the "drifter" Dont know if it is just a cameo or not. You do know that this is not to come out till 2014, right, Zed?

I think it was one of the big hits of SDCC. I haven't seen the full trailer, just images, but it sure does look Mad Max to me.

Okay.....Wardog here.
Here's a few things about this new MM film.
The pick up shots were filmed 10 minutes down the road from me (yes, it was loud).
The film (as stated by George Miller) is a stand alone film BUT it has also been stated that it takes place BETWEEN Mad Max and Mad Max 2 and NOT after Thunderdome. The cars in this film look very Road Warrior-ish.
Mel Gibson is NOT making a cameo (as far as George Miller has stated).
The bloke played Toe Cutter in the first MM is back BUT as a different character...Immortal Joe.
There was a rumour floating around that the film would focus on The Dark One...Max's unseen partner in the first film. He is mentioned 2 or 3 times and his name is seen on the side of Max's police car at the beginning of the film. This has since been proven not to be the case.

Some of the footage I saw around SDCC Time looked fantastic!

I hope it is. The trailer looks awesome. As long as they've stuck to the "Max style" it should be okay.
If you recall at the end of MM he drives out into the wastelands and in the beginning of MM2 it is mentioned he'd done so so this new film fits in that regard and Tom Hardy's age fits as well.
In the novels it is mentioned that people begin to abandon the cities and move to coastal towns and inland (wasteland) because the cities have become violent hotspots and when the bombs fall the cities cop it HARD. The novels delve deeper into the worldwide issues that the films just breezed over.

I need to get those novels.
-
They are good reads. You find out about the fuel depot in MM2 in more detail.
