CIS Anti-Orbital Mobile Platform
« on: November 29, 2012, 12:05:04 PM »
Hi everybody, inspired by the excellent work of the community I decided to try my first conversion, I always liked the CAV PX10 from the EU, here is my creation, I named CAV (Compact Assault Vehicle) PX-25 mkV, its a fast attack, one man vehicle, as main armament has a heavy rail gun, a secondary coaxial medium repeating blaster and a micro missile launcher, the vehicle is shielded and armored.

The base was a goliath tank form the avengers toy line, the main gun is the original one, tracks are from a gijoe ice sabre and some pieces from 25mm and 1/35 tank kits. I still want to detail some markings, and maybe put some side skirts.

Any comments will be appreciated

Regards

KP

Thanks everybody for the welcome and  your comments. I already finished the CAV, just weathering the weapons and applying some decals, I'm trying to keep it simple since Im toying with the idea of creating a couple more of this vehicles and some variations (as budget and parts allow it). Tomorrow I will post the pictures of the finished product.

Pretty, pretty cool!  Finally, something the clone engineer/tank gunners look good in!

Nice work!

Light side, dark side...meh.  Just give me a lightsaber and a blaster and I'll take care of it!

Here is the final product(for the time being). I added some decals and dry brushed the gun and part of the tracks

The troopers are part of a platoon that I'm also customizing but that will be for other post

CIS Anti-Orbital Mobile Platform

Well, the other day I was watching with my youngest nephew a scene of the movie Starship troopers and we starting discussing how cool would be to see a vehicle with the capability of the plasma bug (the one that shots huge plasma bolts at orbiting ships and as artillery against infantry) but in a vehicle form. Since he is more a collector of clone wars   ()rr era (I stick with the Empire era  [at1])  I decided for this Christmas give him as a gift an anti-orbital weapon, and I decided to make it for the CIS since his android army at present time is really outgunned compared to his clone army.

The system is based on a power generator that feeds two huge AOPW20 cannon capable of reaching low orbit targets such as landing ships, troop transports and cruisers  with a combined rate of 60 rounds/min, the other weapons systems are a quad based turbo laser turret for self defense, four dual purpose missiles, and six cruise-missiles launchers each warhead with anti-armor/anti-personnel submunitions allowing strike from long distance armor and troops concentrations. Finally it carries a dual heavy repeating blaster and a light repeating blaster on the driver and commander positions.

Typically deployed in batteries of 6 vehicles this could ruin the day to any landing force,  and a serious threat to any armored vehicle fielded by the Republic.

Here is the first photos of this concept. Enjoy!

Wow.  That's an interesting vehicle!  I agree we definitely need an anti-orbital weapon like the Bugs had.
