Hey all, I'm new to the boards here, but I'm sure some of you know me from elsewhere. I have recently gotten into Star Wars customs and though I would share. Comments are always welcome. Thanks for looking.
Here is my Jedi pin-up girl and her astromech.

Here is a recipe:
Base figure: MU Scarlet Witch (legs modified for Joe-like articulation and looks)
Head: ROC Dialtone
Right Hand: TVC Obi Wan
Spats and Armlets: Zam Wessel lower legs and arms hollowed out so as to fit over the legs and arms
Belt: TVC Obi Wan with Mace Windu and Kit Fisto belt sabers. The saber in her hand is Obi Wan's.
Bikini Top: Cloth and acrylic, the brooch I shaved off of Zam Wessel's chest.
Cloak: Cloth and acrylic.

Looks superb mate welcome to the yards !
-
Thanks, man.
-
Amazing!
-
Nice!
-
wow, great intro! Really cool work, lovely figure in a very nice pose, also love her astromech and how you put all into one color schema, clever idea.
Welcome to the yards, hope to see more of your works soon :)
-
Great Work and Welcome to the Yards!!!
-
Man, she sure looks good! I recognize the head but which body is that?
Welcome to the Shipyards and, Welcome to the front page!
-
Wow! I'm loving every part of this gal!
The green color scheme reminds me of a medieval "Robin Hood"-esque character. I love the boots and the overlapping flaps on them; don't know if this was part of the original parts or sculpted.
Nice job on the cloak as well: what did you use to get it remain static in that pose (and the get the hood to lay so perfectly)? It turned out very well!
-
Wow, talk about a great looking custom figure and droid. Welcome to ISY.
I think I recognize the Agent Helix head, but just great work all the way around.
-
Excellent work, a really clever Idea cant wait to see more ... welcome to the yards !!!
-
Thanks for the warm welcome and the kind words, all.
I added the recipe to the first post for those asking.
-
Superb Jedi, would love to see a tutorial on how you did her cloak. Top notch
-
Awesome!!!
-
Holy mama! That's one amazing custom!

Welcome to the yards and stunning looking figure.
Ron
-
Whoa...she is beautiful! This is one great looking female figure. Very original and very well done. Can't wait to see more from you.
-
Thanks guys.
Oh, hey there, Hemble. Fancy meeting you here.
For those asking here are some tutorials on making capes. One of which is by me.

-
Wow, that Jedi is awesome! I love the soft goods on her. The mech is pretty sweet too, love the color scheme these two have going on. Can't wait to see more!
-
that second cape tutorial was great. And here i have been making paper mache ones all this time. The cloth using your technique definitely looks better.

That guy did a nice job on his tutorial. I'm just not a big fan of hot glue. I also have my reasons for not using white glue as the stiffener. But the proof is in the pudding, I guess, and his stuff looks good. I'll be updating the one that I'm working on, so I'll make some noise about it, when it's done.
-
This is still a WIP

-
HOLY *@%$&@%!$$@ THAT LOOKS FRAKKIN SICKKKKKKK!!!
-
Uh.....................................(speechless). I was going to use the same figure for a custom but now I want to do the same thing. You rock!
-
Minstrel I am along those same lines. Just gorgeous work here. I tried to put some comments on the front page. I am sorry if I incorrectly assumed this was a Mandalore.
If this is a wip shot I can't wait for the final reveal.
-
Ho-LY SHEEP-DIP! THAT IS JUST PHENOMENAL! If there wasn't clutter in the back ground you would never know this is a 4 inch figure. The gold paint work looks great but the soft goods are so well done , they look perfect. I have seen a lot of great soft goods work but this is off the charts. The thread count and weight of your fabric is so perfect for this scale. Very well done!
-
wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwww amanzing
-
geez that's just a work in progress ?? that is unbelievable !! I don't know what else you are gonna do to it but i cant wait this is a beautiful figure ...all the best art

And I was afraid that the likeness to Mandalore wasn't that good, But I seem to have pulled it off.
Thanks for the kind words everone.
-
Very cool, were you going for Mandalore the Ultimate? He looks amazing! Very well done!
-

Thanks
I haven't decided what to name this guy. If I were gonna do Mandalore The Ultimate, he'd have to have the mask, rather than the Imperial Era bucket helm.
-
I know one thing. This sure does have one envisioning a Mandalorian Medal Ceremony or maybe a ceremony where the Mando gets their suit of beskar gam or something along those lines.
-
Yeah, the red and gold lend an air of Rank and Ceremony.
-
WOW!!!! I am still trying to figure out how this is a WIP. Mind officially blown!
-

Man, this pin-up just break my jaw! This custom is outstanding, every detail is tremendous well done! Congrats!
Keep coming with more awesome customs! That Mando is also great!
-
Love your figures! Welcome to the Yards and keep posting!
-
Words can't attempt to describe how absolutely sick this fig looks!
-
Ridiculous COOL!!!! I love the color combo.. This is how I picture mandalore to look like . Excellent job..
-
Hi, great looking figure, killer colour choice.
Love it.

final reveal pics on the front page. You really ought to be proud of this one. It is on my top five of all time list now. Trust me that is some list.
-
AMAZING!
-
fantastic, both in execution and presentation. Very well done.
-
Both of these figs rock! You going to post your street scene dio?
-
Thanks, Guys. I appreciate it.
-
Yes well done! I believe his name should be "Mandalore the Spectacular."
-
Absolutely phenomenal! I love the group pic with the lady Jedi and droid...definitely has me thinking Middle Ages with the Mando as knight and the Jedi as Robin Hood. Don't know if that was intentional or not, but cool nonetheless!
-
That gold mando is really nice, i like the addition of the red cloth.
-
I really like the mando! Best rendition I've seen by far!!
-
Thanks guys.

Know you.. I find that things turn out best if I let them become what they want to become. If that makes any sense.... I definitely like the way the aesthetic is heading and your assessment of the characters seems plausible. I did have a more Grey-ish Jedi in mind when I made the Jedi. Jolee Bindo is one of my all time favorite jedi and I always thought that his attitude towards the force was sensible, preferring balance rather than leaning to one side or the other. He is a good example of a Robin Hood-like Jedi. Once I get further along with my Star Wars, figures I'll put more time into some backstories.
-
Amazingly, Spectacular rendition of what the Star Wars is: Endless possibilities to inspire and leave many in awe. I have seen this with many of our colleagues here and now with you. Thank you for sharing your creations with us. Can't wait to see more!

So have been experimenting and am pleased with the results. I figured you guys would get the biggest kick out of my endeavor, so i'll post it here first.

Not bad for a prototype. I went for making the wires discrete, rather than making myself crazy trying to conceal them completely. Looking at it now I guess I could have made the terminal a little smaller, but oh well. Anyhow, I hope you kinds like it. Comments and questions, welcome.
-
I was very happy just seeing the great figures you made, and then I nearly fell from my chair when I saw that lightsaber.
You've got some serious style and talent, sir! Well done!
-
Kind words indeed. Thanks.
-
very very COOL!
-
Wow, that looks fantastic. What a great way for me to start the front page this morning. Thanks for sharing this with us.

that is pretty cool. You ought to be able to run the wires through a figure's sleeve or arm, I would guess.
-
The wires are easy enough to hide. I was thinking a display base with a battery pack built in to run the wires to would be a cool way to go.
-
Awesome stuff! Dayton has been talking about trying to like a saber like this. Most excellent work!
-
Thats insanelly cool, how on earth did you manage to light that up.
You know what you need to do next..... A red saber.
Cant wait to see how you add the battery pack and switch to this.
I never thought something so small could possiblly be lit, but you did, and it looks crazy.
-
Thanks, Gang.
I'm working on getting the materials to do more of these. I need more Light Sabers. Does anyone know if anyone is casting them?
-

the clear ones take about a day each to set up. Kind of a slow process.

I've been wanting to do HK-47 for a while and finally picked up an HK-50 BAD to paint. I figured it I'd be painting it anyhow, so why not get the less expensive figure. The ball joints were giving me some trouble, as they are made of that PE plastic that nothing will stick to. I ended up have to remove the joints and dye them black. It sucked haveing to cut him up, but, joint rub is no longer an issue. Definitely one of the dirtier paint jobs I have done on a figure. I painted a lot him with my fingers really. I still haven't painted the gun just because it doesn't look bad as is. I may get around to it.
The mold on this figure is fantastic. Great detailing. I wish he was a little bigger. He's pretty small compared to most of my other figure. I'm thinking the scale he's in is around 1:20th. He's close to seven feet in the game, it looks like, and the figure stands at 3 and 7/8 inch which is about right in 1:20th scale assuming 3 and 3/4 = 6 foot 3. Regardless of scale, I love the figure and really enjoyed painting it. HK-47 is my all time favorite Star Wars character, has been since the first KotOR came out, and I'm really happy to finally have him in my collection of figures. Thanks for looking.

Nice work man, I'm an HK fan too. I totally agree HK-47 has a beautiful sculpt, but he needs a bit of a height adjustment like you said, he seemed to tower over almost everyone else in the game. Great work though with this guy, he looks really nice!
-
Looks good. I like the hd photos too. Back on the front page.
-
You have some serious talent there! No idea who HK-47 is, but a very good paint job and a great looking figure! Also love your other work! :)
-
Great job man! I love it. I also really like the lightsaber. Did you use a surface mount LED? or something else?
Keep posting the great pics!
-
Sweet paint on the HK!
-
I'm also a huge fan of KOTOR, having spent hundreds of hours playing and replaying the game. This is easily the best HK figure I've ever seen. Outstanding work on this custom, as well as all of your other work that I've seen. Love your photography too.
-
Thanks, guys. My pics are all taken with an old Droid smart phone. I think it has a five mp camera. Doesn't always focus the way I want, but it was free, so I make do. I found the real trick to getting the photos to come out well is to get the lighting just right. I do no editing to them other than resizing.
Sten, for the saber I just chopped the emitter off a CW Shakk Ti's light saber and replaced it with 3mm LED.
-
Thant is an excellent paint/weather job you did ! i too have wanted to do this figure and may do so down the road , when my cantina patrons ( the figures hasbro will never make ) project is completed. again awesome work
-
Yeah he's a cool character. I tried to find one to cast so I could make multiples since its just six parts but not for 80 bucks. That was the cheapest I could find a complete one on eBay for outside of having to buy the entire run of figs he was packaged in which was much higher. Great application, he looks sweet. I can hear him now, calling us all Meatbags lol
-
HK-50s are a good bit less $ and used the same mold.
-
WOW! This is an awesome repaint! Very nice work on the paint and weathering. Your picture quality is really good for a phone camera! Loving this update!
-
Excellent paint execution man!!! Your choice of colors fits him well. Can't wait to see more of your work.
-
Let me first say: Wow! Simply wow! This is THE best incarnation of HK I've seen anywhere. Your paint application skills are just impeccable.
How did you achieve the metallic sheen on his armor? Did you paint him the red-maroon color, then apply a light metallic drybrush? Or vice versa?
I typically go with the paint I want as my overall base color first, then apply dabs of or drybrush metallic colors and have been looking for how to achieve a better effect---more like yours actually---when I do armor and the like. Just curious how you attack something like this.
Again, a great figure!
-
I'm glad you like him.
The paints are as follows.
The base coat is Model Masters Flat black followed by a dry brushing of Model Masters Steel.
The orange is Tamiya Flat Yellow and Flat Red mixed to the proper shade of rusty orange and thinned heavily so as to be more of a wash.
Then I did a wipe of brown, then one of black.
Then I buffed the finish to the luster I wanted. This also exposed the metallic on the raised areas.
I guess you could say that there is also dry brushing of the metallic on top of the orange in so much as I used the same stiff brush to buff the finish as I use to do some of the dry brushing. I just didn't add any more paint to the brush after it had dried long while without being cleaned. All of the exposed metal you see is from the orange being rubbed off, though.
I hope this helps.
Thanks again for the kind words Gents.
-
I like i ike :D
-
Your stuff is off the hook!! I love your part choices and your paint apps!! WOW....
I would love an army of those Mandos. What an army build that would be.
-
Thanks. I haven't finished anything in a while. I have a bunch of stuff ready for paint, I just haven't made the time. A case of lots of inspiration, but not enough motivation.
-
Wow that HK is a pure and simple work of art! Totally blown away by the paint work and wipes - he really is a beauty! Man I'd be prou to have that bad boy on my shelf!
All the best,
Ray

I know I overlooked this at the time, but thanks for responding about your paints and apps. I'm in the same boat it sounds like you are right now: lots of unfinished work, no time/motivation to do anything with them right now. Hoping to see you back on track soon!
-
Those aren't figures those are works of ART!!! Sweet.
I just love the two of them together, that is one of the oh smack pictures. Those are figures that need to be displayed.
Just wonderful work
-
Thanks for the comments, fellows. I'll try and get something new posted this weekend.
-
I finally got one done. Just a Night Adder figure with some paint and fodder bashed on. The wires you see are what is powering the LED in the light saber. It shows up better in some shots than others. My camera doesn't handle low lighting so well.

Dude!!! I bow down to your Dark Side! Too Cool!
-
Wow, have to share this on our front page and Facebook! Very cool!
Can you show us how you created that light up saber?
-
This one turned out very nicely! I love the soft goods, especially the trim around the edge of the kama.
The saber lighting actually looks very nice: clear at they spout of the saber, but not overly bright or gawdy-looking. The perfect final touch to a great figure.
-
Man, I love that female Jedi you started your thread with, as well as that sick Mandalore figure. Are you a Tales of the Jedi fan, by chance? I mean, these two fit right in that series!
-
Thanks, Guys.
I'll make sure I take a few WIP pic next time I make an LED saber. Truth is I don't really feel as though I have perfected them yet. So far All I have done is cut the emitter of the hilt and glue a 3mm LED in its place. I have found that it works best if you cut the dome of the LED so that the end is flat and glue the blade of the saber to that. I'm not really explaining this very well, but it's not that hard to do.
Here is a link to where I bought the LEDs.

Wow. Is it that obvious. Yeah, I guess I draw a lot of inspiration from the Tales of the Jedi. I like the Medieval Space vibe it has.
-
Dude! So sick! The wires actually work with the fig. Original ancient (from the Darkhorse stories) sabers had an external battery pack. WIP shots, please!
-
Nicely done, that's gotta be a 1mm LED? Did you lose much hair getting it rigged up ;D
-
Nice job on the saber. The night adder Sith Lord looks good!

Awesome. Hope to see more of your work inspired by that era. For me, TotJ is the real Old Republic era.
-
Wow! Great figure & amazing light saber! Brilliant!
-
WOW! Very cool and I love that led in the saber hilt! Such a cool effect!
-
Just a repaint of the CW Spider Assassin Droid. A pretty cool figure by my estimation. I took some liberty with the eye color, opting for more of a night vision look. It would have been cool to make the eyes glow red, but with way it was constructed, there wasn't a practical way of doing it. Anyhow, Here are some pics.

Wow, that looks fantastic. You know where I am going with this! ;D
-
Hey, thanks, Man!
-
This looks outstanding! A far cry from the bland interpretation Hasbro put into their release...
Good choice on the eye color, it definitely draws interest to the head and plays off the steel color nicely.
-
that looks fantastic i am really really impressed !
-
Thanks, guys.

I thought this was a cool droid and would be a fun figure to paint. I'm always looking for cool figures that I can paint and make look better. That's pretty much why I buy figures these days. Rarely do see a figure and think to myself that it's great just how it is. It's either fodder or something that I want to paint.
By the way, the clone troopers it came with are just gonna sit in my fodder bin if anyone is interested and wants to do some trading.
-
Oh my, that Spider Assassin Droid repaint is off charts! I would have bought several of these if Hasbro had invested a bit more and given it a paint scheme like that!

Fantastic repaint! Looks phenomenal.
-
Thank you, Sir. I admire your skills with a brush as well.

Man that is a great looking repaint! Very nice work.
-
Hey Thanks.
