Here are my Republic Commandos. Thanks Clint for providing the heads.
Fiala, you want one just all white right? I was going to make one all white already.
A subtle change, but with a loud message! I love it my friend!
Very cool sith what is his mask made from? Also great CW jedi. ;DG.I. Joe Comic Pack with Tunnelrat and Storm Shadow. The mask is Storm Shadow's. Thanks for the comments.
Armee Universal Gehwer (i think)
Very nice! I just picked up 2 of these for $10. I like your mods and paint work.Dude, where did you find these guys for that price?
@ DocOutlands
The other figure is just a straight up G.I. Joe Accelerator suit Duke from the Rise of Cobra line. It's amazing how you can change a figure by just painting it.
nice tom if can make one small observation mate if you look at all the other Kama's they tend to stop at the knees maybe a slight trim ;)? but it does look buddy!Hey Jay, good catch. I was concentrating on the small gap in the front and didn't think about the length. Either I'll give it a slight trim or just make it battle damaged to shorten it up. I'm always open to constructive criticism, it's one of the best ways to get better.
Be advised no Boba Fett figures were destroyed during the making of this custom thread. Just one anonymous Imperial Scanning Crewman.
i've never seen one either ! bobas merrhh the one i bought was when i went to france and man ... toys'r'us bayonne have a lot of toys !Be advised no Boba Fett figures were destroyed during the making of this custom thread. Just one anonymous Imperial Scanning Crewman.
Yeah, and those guys are a dime a... wait... no they aren't. I only ever saw ONE on a peg and he went straight into my buggy that day. In fact, I have seen more Vintage Fetts than ISCs!
Amazing work! If time allows, I may try this. Now, did you hollow out armor from an old Boba or have a cast of it?Hey JM, I cut out the armor from the 30 TAC Boba. I used a dremel with a cutting wheel then used the grinder/engraver tool. I also used my razor craft knife sometimes because I didn't want to do slip up with the dremel and ruin something.
I like how you took Darklord's ideas and simplified them! I am thinking of doing something similiar. Your results are fantastic! Great work. Thanks lucasclones, I was admiring Darklord's Boba a few days ago and I started thinking how I could make a Boba similar to his but only use the Boba figures I already had. Also I wanted to show everyone that you can make a pretty cool Boba without having to be a master customizer.
Wow! That Boba is a SERIOUS piece of business!! Very nicely done. And I'm deeply honored that my work was able to inspire you in this way! Way to go!!! ;) ;)Darklord, you don't know how good that makes me feel! I'm smiling ear to ear. ;D
Good heavens!Yes sir it does. I don't know about TWIN, maybe a red headed step brother, LOL. I like to think mine is good but your Boba is the ultimate.
Your Boba nearly seems to be the TWIN of mine! That flak vest and separate shoulder bells attached makes a COLOSSAL difference, doesn't it?!!
Just a thought. The shorter Boba could be a Kal Skirata since he is mentioned as being shorter than his boys. Just a thought.
Thank you lucasclones! This has been a fun year for me. I guess I've come a long way since my first post back in May. I hope next year is even more fun. I hope to pull of a dio in 2011, but we'll see......Just a thought. The shorter Boba could be a Kal Skirata since he is mentioned as being shorter than his boys. Just a thought.
Thats a good idea!! I like the Jango head on that figure it seems to fit well for some reason. I also think your repaint of the blaster looks absolutely fantastic!
I liked seeing the pattern you used for the flac vest. that realy helps! I've been wanting to try this on one of my figures for a while since seeing darklords boba. I expect several of us will eventually emulate his work!Spuda, I've been thinking the same thing about the vest. If you can find thin velcro it would be sweet. I think stretch cord might work too. Do you think Hobby Lobby or a store like it sells stretch cord? I was also thinking of using the same helmet as Darklord but hollowing it out and using a Jango head on the figure. I just bought all the different Bobas on ebay that Darklord used and I'm gonna make another "better boba" . If he had a removeable vest and helmet and maybe even gauntlets that would be a seriously awesome Boba. And even interchangeable hands (gloves/no gloves). And then maybe finish him off with a poncho that he wears like Jango did but a different color or maybe Boba kept his dad's old poncho and still wears it..... interesting......if you're gonna tackle a project like this let me know how it goes, or just show us what you're doing in you're thread. Good luck and may the force be with you on this one.
yours looks great! I'm wondering how this technique might look placed over the new bespin luke figure since it has ball jointed torso and hip joints... might give the end resulting figure more range of motion... might wind up trying this out on mine.
Something else I was pondering was using velcro on the vest's lower half so that it is removable... or use stretch cord even?
this is the yellow arc head on top and the bottom one isn't badThanks Hanns..... that first head you listed is the exact same head I used in that pic. Glad to see you have good taste.

Can't wait to see your Yoda. I made one a while back, but had limited pieces. I think the clone wars Yoda would be awesome if the head was a little more normal.I agree. The CW Yoda has a nice poseable body, but his head is weird and his hands are HUGE. I'm gonna give him a lightsaber too, I just didn't put it in the pic.
clone in training gear ? i thought it was apartment jangoHis forearms are from the Clone in Training.
Alright here is my next project. He's just some Mando, no name yet. I'm just gonna list the parts, in case anyone wants to make their own.
2010 VC Bespin Luke body
Fett Evolution Jango head
TCW Obi-Wan hands
VOTC Boba gauntlets
VOTC Boba belt w/ Luke belt eventually
three various rifles will be combined into one
Apartment Jango armor cut into individual pieces
Either apartment Jango shoulder armor or Clone in Training shoulder armor
Leather piece cut into vest. Purchased leather at Hobby LobbyKnee armor from Legacy style Clone Trooper
Shin armor from Apartment Jango
Haven't decided on the feet yet
Haven't decided on the jetpack yet
Paint scheme undecided
Yes I agree this is going to be sweet. My yoda is a mix as well with the vintage cape, belt and necklace.
I actually like how you divided the skull on the chest armor plates very much. I like how it looks abstract and then boom you recognize its a Bantha skull the shoulders look real nice too. This is an awesome fig man! great work.its not a bantha skull its a mythosaur skull
WOW that is top notch awesome job the detail is amazing i think the chest looks great with the leather love the vehicle in background is that his?
I also am inspired, Tom. I was thinking about using the new Duke body as the canvas.
Man, that pic would have worked nicely for that front page story. I can't wait to see what Stephan comes up with.
Art deWhill that sounds awesome. I can't wait to see what you come up with. Thanks guys! You really know how to make me smile. I want to bring to everyone's attention that I just completed a Fan Fiction story called
CloneSniper78 you have inspired me. I am working on a bounty hunter of my own now, based on a Luke body. I am having some fun with this.
Yeah Clint I think I'm gonna try to get into 12 inchers. At least try one and see how it goes.
Yeah Clint I think I'm gonna try to get into 12 inchers. At least try one and see how it goes.:o bbfet :o
Yeah Clint I think I'm gonna try to get into 12 inchers. At least try one and see how it goes.hey ! i think that language is inappropriate for this forum ! j/k p's but seriously i'd change it if i was you ;)
Whatever, get your mind out of the gutter.dude , cool it , it was only a joke
Yeah Clint I think I'm gonna try to get into 12 inchers. At least try one and see how it goes.
I just joined up here at the Yards; thought your version of a Spartan/Roman/gladiator warrior is awesome! Great job on piecing together the kama, sandals, and chest armor to create him! Thanks man, I'm glad you like him.
This pic is for Stefan.
WOW! I can't wait to see this! You have brought my custom to comic book life, lol. This is so awesome! :o
Oh yeah, another great work of art to go with a great custom.
looking cool i think those guns are cool ;DThanks SH! I think the revolver came with the new HISS tank driver and the double-barrel sawed off shotgun is from MauraderGunRunners on ebay.
Yeah that looks great! I'm not 100% sold on the snake eyes torso underneath the coat, although it works I would have picked something with more substance like one of the armored torsos. To me the snake eyes torso is very bland... of course in a wasteland setting bland works too!Yeah I debated whether or not to use that torso. I was thinking of using , and might still, the reactive armor torso and transfer over the Snake Eyes arms and legs.
I think once you put some holsters on there and do some weathering to bring out the details it will be greatly improved.
That cobra shocktrooper mask is pretty killer. I've yet to see any of that wave of joes and am very close to ordering them direct from hasbro....
Looks great Tom. So the other magnet is inside his torso? They must be strong!Yeah the magnets still pull through about a 1/16 of an inch of plastic through his back and then the pauldron also.
Wow, that magnet idea is great! It mounts so flush you can't even see how it joins and look like it is part of his back.Sorry Tamer, no mid production pics but I think I will make a youtube video within a week or so and I will explain what I did.
Expect to see this on the front page soon. If you have any mid construction pics of how you put that magnet inside the torso I would love to see that. Wouldn't it be great if Hasbro just started doing this for backpacks or front chest accesories! That sure would make a great ask Hasbro question if they give us a new schedule.
BRO! DUDE! That guy is nine kinds of AWESOME!! That is one of the coolest concept-to-execution figs I've ever seen! Thanks Doc! I have one more thing I'm going to add to this figure then he'll be finished, finally!!! I'm glad at least one of my buddies commented.
That's cool. You should do an Easter dio. Just a thought.Sorry I'm not quite following you. Could you explain.
That is flipping amazing! As a history teacher, I can appreciate that to no end; spot-on work!
Thanks guys! That is flipping amazing! As a history teacher, I can appreciate that to no end; spot-on work!
I can appreciate that comment too. I have been known to dabble in social studies a bit myself.
My comment about the Easter dio was regarding how your Spartan looked a bit like a Roman soldier. With such great detail it would be cool to see either a crucifixion or tomb dio made with these customs. Anyway, I apologize for the confusion.I was wondering if you meant that. Well if you know of a figure that looks like Jesus maybe I could. The only one off the top of my head is that Sgt. from the Joker Squad pack. Heck, maybe even Obi-Wan.
Hmm...you might be able to use a Uga Warrior from Indiana Jone and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and some bearded head for a crucifixion scene. Although just a dio of Jesus with some Roman Guards around might be cool. Anyway. I felt that you had a great looking figure with some great possibilities. Thanks Mungo! On a side note, I thought you were going to win the NPKB contest. I loved your Vader's apprentice Luke and Darth Rancor.
Cool custom! Thanks Lux! I always appreciate your comments.
That looks really cool, tom! where did that cape come from? Thanks CloneHead, the capes are from Darth Vader. The belt is from an Imperial Scanning Crewman.[quote
Very nice Tom! How dare you use ARC trooper fodder!?! hahaI kind of felt weird popping those legs off. I was wondering if someone was going to say something. ;)
I got started on my 12 inch custom clone trooper. I transferred all the clone gear over to that Joe diver guy and hollowed out the helmet. Next I need to transfer the armor for the hands and paint the fingers black and probably weather him up a bit.
Also I want to apologize in front of everyone for the way I snapped at Beige4 the first time I talked about doing this figure.
Dooku: My Lord, I have a secret apprentice.Very funny Kurgan. Nice to see you in here.
Sidious: Oh, is that right?
Dooku: Yes, my Lord. I will teach him everything I know.
Sidious: Well, that's not going to take very long...
that's awesome cs78
wow great combo of parts i like itThanks guys.
Very well done. I just watched Return of the King today. Another great trilogy of movies.Really, that's funny I just watched The Two Towers today. lol
HA ! hope you didn't take offense like last time :PYeah I was thinking a TREE. Either in natural colors or in bronze or gold.
this reminds me of a goblin custom someone did with yoda ears
really like it and as for the armour i think that the chest armour should have a kind of pattern.
I hadn't caught your Senate commando/Elf crossover until now: great execution and interesting idea! The red really works for this guy!
Great update on the Elf!
I prefer your Lowlight custom to the Hasbro version: you've got a better look and better gear!
Your brother's Storm Shadow looks terrific! Nice color scheme...
that elf looks epic ! you should make a goblin ! i already have the parts list in ma headThanks Jedi Merc! I'm still tinkering with him. He should be done in about 1 or 2 weeks. The cool thing about that SS is that only his head and weapons are from a SS figure.
im thinking ... i saw one made infact there was a group of themthat elf looks epic ! you should make a goblin ! i already have the parts list in ma headBeige4, thanks brother. You should throw a goblin together for us to enjoy. Or PM me that list and I'll see if I got the parts or at least some good substitutes.
Very cool. I got on a Lord of the Rings trip over the last couple weeks just playing the movies in the background. One thing, though. I believe the type of sword you have is being held backwards. Just a suggestion. What did you use for the helmet and shield. Are they casts?
i am loving this elf ... all you need to do now is to make a hot elf chick!
;D
Elf warrior is done. Enjoy.
Wow! I got Kesseled. I've been wanting to get him on a trading card. Thank you. If you want to see a really cool pic of him you should go to the art section and see what Stefan did to this Mando.congrats Tom! Nice card!
CS,Thank you Jules! Well I used medium grey acrylic paint on the vest. Citadel Mithril Silver on all the armor pieces and helmet. Acrylic Cobalt Blue on the raised parts of the helmet. Acrylic Cobalt Blue mixed with a little black for the sides of the helmet. The rest of the clothing was the Hasbro stock colors. I used the body of the Mandalorian that comes with the speeder. The Jetpack was painted using mustard yellow and royal blue acrylic with Citadel scab red. The helmet was made from a Pre Vizsla w/ a Cap. Rex rangefinder glued on. The belt was from the SL Jango but I cut off the whole back half of it and then thinned out the belt as much as I could from the inside and trimmed it down slightly across the bottom so it would look more natural on the smaller CW style body.
Amazing work on that Jango figure! Please can you give us an insight into the materials used...I'm particularly interested in the paint you've used as I love the matt finish on the clothing.
Hey Tom! Nice to see you got to do the Jango! He looks awesome. I like how you did the hoses on the gauntlets. Are the hoses from the Jango Gauntlets or did you use something like Darklord1976 did on his Boba?? Great work again it would be cool to photo yours and mine side to side.Thank you Chad. The gauntlet hoses are from the SL Jango figure. I just had to touch them up with black acrylic paint where Hasbro left them purple.
CS, what make was the acrylic blue? Here you go Jules. The Royal Blue that I used on the Jetpack is Anita's Acrylic Craft Paint and the Cobalt Blue I used for the helmet is Apple Barrel.
That's what you use for figures me and my dad just use dang model-masters.CS, what make was the acrylic blue? Here you go Jules. The Royal Blue that I used on the Jetpack is Anita's Acrylic Craft Paint and the Cobalt Blue I used for the helmet is Apple Barrel.
Awesome, I plan to order one of those heads as well. Isn't it cool that the new Quick Kick was made as Bruce with the scars?!Heck yeah! I've always wanted a 1/18 scale fully poseable Bruce Lee.
Ooo, I look forward to seeing what sort of predator Bruce will become there... ;DNo I made a Predator a while back. I'm going to add these claws to him to make him even better. If you go to the scratch builds and miscellaneous section you will find my finished Bruce Lee.
The resin helmets actually do look nice painted up... Do you mind if I ask what type of paint you use?I used acrylic paint on the helmet. I did use Citadel chainmail paint for the scratches on the helmet.
I can change it if you want.
Very nice! I could actually see a design similar to this existing in the movies.
really cool Rex
the additional ARC-blaster on his chest armor looks great
Good call Tom! I too am plagued by the missing cape and have given his a few different ones looked at it for a day or 2 then said naaah. I may try to add a hood to a Vader soft goods cape but now I may try to find the vintage one on evilbay!Unfortunately Evilbay is the way to go. I talked the guy down to 7 bucks. I think I got lucky. There is a guy on ebay selling a custom Luke cloak for around 4 or 5 bucks though. Here is the link.
where does she put the "bounty"?There is a hatch in the back that can fit a figure (bounty) inside.
where does she put the "bounty"?There is a hatch in the back that can fit a figure (bounty) inside.
No way!He wasn't when he went against Durge. ;D
Fordo is too badass.
Good lord, what a brute! For some reason, he reminds me of Bane from the Batman series.
Could be a Scar body? You guys are thinking too buff, LOL ! He is made from a Marvel Universe Sabertooth from the comic pack which also includes a Wolverine figure. I swapped out the lower legs with a MU Thor. The lower arms came from some Imperial guy from an older Star Wars figure. The head is from the new CW shirtless Savage Opress. I used the same skirt from that figure but I had to make the belt longer to fit around the bigger figuer, so I just added some real leather to each side. The rest was just paint. I just used mustard yellow and flat black acrylic paint.
We would love to hear the recipe for this.
That's gotta be a Barry Bonds figure body...right? ;DMaybe Mark McGwire.....
Phenomenally sweet---this guy is an absolute beast!
Oh man Tom he looks really good! Nice work! Thanks brotha!
Clone Sniper, you are seriously up there with the best of the best right now! your custom figures and vehicles have some of the best detailing around, and like Tamer said a few posts back, I too am really impressed with your customs and have really enjoyed seeing a steady progress of your skills. Thanks Jules, that means a lot to me.
great customs.that female head sculpt has a cool haircut, and face.i'd love to get my hands on her one of these days.good job on those two.I like how she looks a little gritty."my hands are dirty too, what are you afraid of?"Haha... exactly!!! thanks for the kind words.
How you made the head of the droid? It's just a 25th anniversary Cobra Commander head.
How you made the head of the droid? It's just a 25th anniversary Cobra Commander head.
Very nice Tom. Did you make that robe?
AWESOME! What did you use to make it?I'm not sure about the robe... I bought it from my local toy store called toy anxiety. They had it in a sandwich bag, so I don't know if someone made it or if it is from a Star Wars figure.
Looking like a great start Tom!Ditto! Well done so far! :)
Thanks guys, it's been a while since I made a custom and it feels good to know your peers still think you got skills. You guys will probably see even less of me later this year due to my wife and I expecting our second child/clone, lol, in September.
Your finished photos are great; love the action poses---they really show off the greatness of your version of Marek. Thanks everyone for the kind words. JediMerc, if your next Marek is as good as the last one it will be really great and I can't wait to see how it turns out.
I'm getting the itch to hammer away at mine now, but won't have the time for another week, at least.
Tom, sorry I've not commented before but I think that your Starkiller figure is off the scale! I love the mix of parts and the painting is just superb! Why thank you kind sir. That custom was really fun to make and he is one of my favorites. If you ever want to use him in a photo novel just say the word, but I'm sure you could put together your own that is just as good or better.
Here is my finished Starkiller. I just want to give a big thanks to LE Sprywalker who supplied me with the straps that I used around the arms and legs.

Thank you sooo much, coming from you that is high praise. I hope you can mass produce your sculpts in the future so I can buy/make customs that I really like. I really believe your talent is one in a billion and I would love to own some figures that came from you. Here is my finished Starkiller. Your Starkiller is fantastic! I love that this figure is so popular - Hope the make a third Force Unleashed!!!
I'm a huge Starkiller fan and you definitely did him justice! Awesome in every way!Ditto!! :)
Tom, sorry I've not commented before but I think that your Starkiller figure is off the scale! I love the mix of parts and the painting is just superb! Why thank you kind sir. Wow... I don't know what to say... I was proud of this figure when I finished him, but I didn't think he was that great. I'm glad you guys like him and hopefully I can inspire others to make customs. HB94 and Wraithnine were my inspiration for getting into this craziness. I can't thank them enough.Tom, sorry I've not commented before but I think that your Starkiller figure is off the scale! Not sure if I could my friend, there is something about this figure that makes it stand out, I'd say he's your best custom to date, and one of my favorites of the year so far.
Congrats! Know the feeling. Got a little 9 month bundle, too. Luke does look great!
Congrats on the new addition Tom. I like your new Luke too. Thanks guys, my little one's got a SW name too! lol It's Ben with a middle name of Luke.
He is SICK! ;D Is the head from the new JOE trooper? ;DYes it is! When I first saw that head I thought " bounty hunter or Dreadnought" glad you like him.
Yes totally cool work. I echo the question...which Joe character legs did you use for this upgrade? Also, do you have any pictures of how you made it work? How did you plug those legs into Savage's torso?e
Again, well done. I agree with Tamer. This is the kind of stuff I would have loved to see from Hasbro.
Dude, is that my head? That turned out magnificently. It sure is buddy. You helped me create one of my favorite customs of a real American hero.
Wow, looks spot on to me Tom. Back on the front page.
Can't wait to see how this looks painted up.
Hey TomWait no longer! Here is Luke Skywalker training with Maser Yoda.
Can't believe that I nearly missed this Luke!! Awesome work buddy - Very excited about seeing an update!!!
That is super, super cool Tom! I'd love a super arty Luke like that to add to my focus!!Ask and you shall receive! lol
Please is there any chance of a parts list????
Awe inspiring work year again!
Got some more sculpting done on Pai Mei. Sculpting ain't easy, but it's a lot of fun. In case you're wondering, that's a toothpic broken off in his hair.Looking cool, Tom!

OH man i love it !!! That was one of my favorite scenes in the movie !!! This is spot on Awesome work ! What Face did you use for this one?I used a Hard Master head from the Joe line that came in a comic pack a few years ago. May as well give you guys the rest of the body parts.....
great job on fett so far. what do you plan to do for the armor? Good job on the knee pads. getting those trimmed off the original and grafted onto a good set of joe legs is a difficult task (speaking from experience here).I'm planning on doing a cloth vest like I have done in the past. Just not sure if I'm going to use 30tac or Bespin battle armor. I'm going to attempt to use those Bespin gauntlets too.
Man you are doing such awesome work on him it is tempting me to track one of those Bespin BP bobas and try it myself. The helmet is gorgeous. Absolutely the best Hasbro has made yet. Hmm wonder if there are cheap one on ebay...I got mine at TJ Maxx. They had about 5 of them, should have picked up two. They were selling for just $12.99.
Well I might try and check my local Maxx then soon. I just looked him up on evilbay and he is selling for 20 bucks for a five poa pos no way! I would still need the belt for him too. Maybe Maxx will come through for me.Man you are doing such awesome work on him it is tempting me to track one of those Bespin BP bobas and try it myself. The helmet is gorgeous. When you put the helmet on the head does it deform the helmet in any way? That is something that always bothered me about the hasbro legacy/evo/vintage Boba. From your pics it looks good but pics don't always capture these small things. Lookin great man!It bends about 1 or 2 mm, that's it. Can't notice any difference.
I cannot believe I have not either read the book or seen the movie for this yet. trust me I will remedy that. This is going to the front page.I'm reading the book for the 2nd time right now and I've watched it on DVD 4 times. I love it. Well I just about got him done. I might even go back and give him a different head. Just using the M-4 as a stand-in right now.
He is the angriest looking figure I have seen all day.Outback don't play!
Thats a great figure Tom. Man, your images are really great too. New camera? Off to share. No, just my iphone5c. Thanks for the front page.
very nice. Love the repaint, good decision. Thanks bro, that heavy cannon/machine gun is from a Halo Reach figure, Jorge I think is his name.
I like that mini gun too. What line is it from? I grabbed a loose one at a flea market a while back.
These are excellent ! I was wondering when someone was gonna do some walking dead customs . Great choices on figures i hope you have more in the works !Thanks man, yeah I got Daryl and Rick still in production as well as Michone. Might be a while before they're done.
Great customs! So I haven't bought any of the New Joe figures, but are their arms seriously articulate enough to make the forearm point straight up while the bicep is pointing down? Because if so, I am going to go and buy a TON of them! Not quite sure what you mean, but sounds like you might be describing a double jointed elbow. Joes don't have that. There was a Spiderman figure that had it and maybe some other figure but I don't know.
Execellent work on Luke mate. Thanks Ron, that means a lot to me.
Ron
Looks good! I have been toying with the idea of this for some time, but have never actually taken a 6" figure apart. Hopefully dealing with that torso won't be a major ordeal, but that's why I picked up 3 Bespin Lukes! ;)His Torso and shoulder sockets are rubbery so he just needs a boil and pop to take apart.
