This is how far along I was last weekend, before Hasbro made their announcement.  ;D

Today I finished her up with some weathering. Good enough for now. And later, when the Hasbro version arrives I'll probably just make her into something else.

Great work there. I pre-ordered both of her subordinates. I didn't bother making them, but kinda had an idea of how I would.

Lost the post after our forums went out for a day, but I did get this up on the front pages.

I like the legs on your version. The Hasbro Target Exclusive looks a bit wonky to me.

She looks great! There's plenty of room for other Nite Owls, so she is still a great addition to the line, even with the Koska Reeves figure. Great paint job!

Behind the scenes; another neck-ball swap had to happen.

There's a new arrival at Outpost 423.

A little more than a year ago the custom Star Wars community lost one of its best to Covid. Stanley Opiel II was a prolific and talented customizer. His goal was to bring every character from the Original Trilogy to life in 1:18 scale, remaining faithful to the modern Hasbro aesthetic. I'm serious, if you are unfamiliar with Stan's customs you should definitely take a few minutes to go check them out.

Here on ISY: http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=9711.msg184424#msg184424
On Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.166248294891153&type=3
On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/starwarsmodernvintagecustom/

He has been described as the heart of our customizing community; he inspired, and he brought people together making connections and friendships that continue today. It was literally Stan's community building that made this figure happen; one of Stan's long-time collaborators, the uber-talented sculptor John Evergrey, made (and painted) this outstanding head sculpt which allowed me the chance to put a Stan figure in the Outpost.

I imagine Stan would have loved this.

Outstanding tribute.

Stan was a most excellent member here over the years. I feel sad not logging in and seeing a new post for this modern vintage customs thread.

Off to the front pages.

Don, this gave me some teary eyes and not because it's early in the morning. This is such a nice tribute as Shawn already said. I never got to talk to Stan, but always adored his custom work. The headsculpt looks amazing, I'm especially impressed by the detail of the hair. John did an amazing job on sculpting and painting it! The weathering looks nice on his uniform. Did you repaint the hands?

It's giving me the chills that a beloved and much respected member of our community is no longer around us, but will always be part of our heart also with a dedication like this.
Thank you for sharing this, Don!

Very cool tribute! Great work. It would be really cool to have a tribute area to fallen members who are brought to life thru our custom work.

That's a very thoughtful gesture. I'm sure Stan would be tickled to be part of Outpost 423. The figure is excellent and what a nice way to reflect his approach to customizing by collaborating with another talented artist.

Don, you need to set that dude up at your bar and buy him a drink.

Stan was just good people. He was always so supportive too.

Maybe you had in mind something like this?

(About to post more new-bar pics in my Outpost thread.)
