Title: Pirates! Scalpers! Villains!
Post by: ActionFigEmpire on August 04, 2011, 05:34:48 PM
Just a heads up: Found a dirty action figure scalper on eBay! Avoid any users with this handle as they're only in it for profit through reselling: "mariostoysandcards" Keep an eye out for these pirates who want to ruin our hobby!

This guy just filed a bogus claim against me for damages to some figures i sold him and demanded a refund (so he can get free figures to turn 100% profit on?) saying that they items (which i packed very well) were damaged and thus he couldn't resell them.

First rule of scalping! Don't admit you're a scalper!

Lucky for us, we now know to have no dealings with this guy! Spread the word!

Thats the sad thing with ebay, they always side with the buyers. I think they really need to get an outside firm to arbitrate their disputes. I think there needs to be some balance for both sellers and buyers. I think these types of things, coupled with their increasing fees they charge to sellers really could mean that another eauction site could make a strong bid against them now.

Sorry you are having a rough time with this buyer AFE.

my thoughts exactly Tamer! I was really appalled at the lack of options and support for sellers. Like, "Wait, whose got my back?" Yeah maybe we should start a new site! An auction site for collectors by collectors!  Where y if you see someone you sold something to turn around and sell it they get banned. Would be a cool place to sell and buy stuff knowing that we looked out for both parties' best interests.

Oh we have definitely played around with the idea, but even the start up would be a full time job. I can't even imagine the amount of webwork you would need to do to set up a consistent data linked field what would use a standard shopping cart and shipping options. I have seen some places that have tried that and they just didn't seem to catch on. I do think though, as the technology gets more and more available that you will see this done. I have been meaning to take a look at how much per month a shopping cart would cost that would let you use paypal or credit card options. If I can find some time I do plan to look into it and if I can make it available as a service we offer shipyarders for as small a fee as possible, which is another problem I have with ebay. ::)

Sounds cool! Count me in! I kind of wish there were an eBay Amazon combo...
