***Editorial note... because I'm lazy "bounty hunting daily" didn't happen... So I'm changing this thread to become a supository for any diorama shots that I might take. I'm also going to have the topic moved to the diorama section as that is more fitting than the "artworks" section...
so... I'll post and add stuff to this thread whenever I have some dio shots taken... don't expect it to be too often...lol

I'm starting a photo project I am entitleing "Bounty Hunting daily 2010"
Basically from this day forward I will be taking at least one photo a day of one of my custom action figures (mostly mandos and bounty hunters, hence the title) and posting the images to my deviantart account and to this thread.
I was inspired by a few different people I've seen around the interwebs who have done similar projects... I'll try to find some links later...

Like I said, it should be a daily thing from now on... and I probably won't be able to ever pick just one photo each time I take some shots, so expect them to be like little miniseries each day...
yall think this will be a fun project? if there isn't much interest in it I'll probably stop doing it..... :P

HB you could start your own project....
you could make it your mission to do a single "you've been hangarbayed" image every day for 365 days....
thanks guys. I think I'm going to enjoy this little project. we'll see where it leads... and feel free to add your own captions to any images you like! I might hold some contests eventually for good captions...

Well, I'm working on a snow dio, devin has inspired me.
But I don't have as cool of surrounding as he does.
Incidently, my parents do, but I'm too lazy to drive up there, :)

Narceron those look great! Are you useing the macro mode on your camera? That will help with the close up shots looking more crisp. Shots that give you perspective will look best... snow is a hard thing to photograph regardless. that's why I tried to pic places where there was grass, rocks, or some other item to help the camera focus on.
I like the ones with the at-st and snowtrooper the best btw.

I use macro, but this my old camera, it uses a different color to auto focus, lol, but the wife won't let me get the new one wet, :(

phatty I had originally tried to get a shot of my dewback in the cage with my bigger lizzards, but the both attacked it and went bazerk! The bearded dragon was puffing up and hissing and the nile monitor was just tailwhipping the crap out of everything.... it was actually quite funny to see them freak out over the fake dewback...

well your in luck because I'm kicking today's off early...
I was sitting here at my desk with my computer and I looked down at all the fodder that's on my here from my current projects and realized that it seems as soon as I open a figure they loose their heads...? anyway, that observation prompted this photo succession:

I always felt that if my action figures ever came to life, like in "toy story" that they would probably simpathize with "sid's" toys and wind up taking over... Perhaps ripping the customized figures apart since they are "more loved".... ::) of course... it's late, and this was realy random.... But I have a feeling there will be several days like this set!
btw... if anyone can think of a more appropriate name for this project give me some ideas.... I was thinking about changing it to a more broad title like "Candid Customs".... idk...

LOL, I swear to you, Devin, I have the exact same problem. There is a bag that i have handy that is filled with heads and helmets and all of the headless bodies that they belong to are on the other side of the house.

Guys this is such a great thread, Spuda another one of your genius creative ideas.
Some of you may know that I did an outdoor photoshoot about May time. I basically took my Endor Platform, a load of figures and other customs, loaded them in my car and drove about 50 yards to the forest behind my house. Once there I made several journeys into the thickest, quietest spot, set everything up and took a load of pictures. It was a wonderful day playing Star Wars...(how embarrasing, I'm 40 for gods sake...I really should see a shrink!)
Anyhow, how Spuda's at it, as soon as the weather starts getting better, who knows, maybe I might start going for more jaunts into the forest...
Anyhow, just for old times sake, and so not to take anything away from Spuda's post by creating another one, here are some of my favourites...

Did you get asked any questions by anyone while you were out there setting all that up?

I love that Endor platform and Endor paint job rebel turret. I love the outdoor shots, perhaps I need to take an atat and atst out into the snow and see what I can come up with.

I had a blast photographing my creations outside. If you've got a half decent camera, you can have some real fun.
Spuda, my woods is very quiet, so there really wasn't much chance of anyone stumbling accross my photoshoot.

well, since it seemed like it was a good idea and the photos with the gecko were so well I redid the shoot with the dewback and my other two lizards.
I chose boba to ride the dewback because I wanted to showcase how well the super articulated "ultimate" boba figure could ride the dewback, something that his stock brother cannot do.

He still doesn't sit very well on it... and hell neither does the sandtrooper it comes with. Why is the dewback saddle so hard to figure out hasbro?
anyway, the nile monitor is in the first picture and my Bearded Dragon is in the second, both are in their respective cages.

Boba and the dewback look right at home in that cage. If the dew back wore some markings similar to the other lizard, it would be hard to tell he wasn't real.

Clonehead... I love you. I've been pining over what to do to this dang dewback to customize it and you hit the nail on the head! give it a more realistic patterned appearence!!! ;D it'll look more life like and it won't look like an amorphous blob of background filler! (now if I could only get it's mouth to open...)

Today I just took some simple shots of several of my figures that are filling an order to an e-bay customer. He purchased several of my custom mandos, some which were hard to part with.... so for old times sake I took some last parting shots of them standing together.

ya know... the only ones I was realy sad about were the two red mando girls. They were my favorites. As for the other figures I was most disapointed about sending my "V'lad" the mando dictator. I realy liked the figure and the concept, but I got to looking at it and I KNOW I can remake not only that figure but all these figures and make them 100 times better than before.... I mean, look at what I did with the stealth mando! :)

don't ask me where the little dewback came from, I have no idea. It is an ancient toy dinosaur that I've had since I was a kid. it has the word "cynognathus" written on the bottom of it along with the number "20" and "china".... no telling where it came from. But I thought it looked enough like the dewback to pass off as a baby one.

The taller one might be interesting, but I think that second captain version you made ought to do just fine. If not no figures will fit in em, which is a possibility when dealing with Hasbro.

I've already had problems getting different sized/posed figures into my at-st... so I wouldn't doubt hasbro will screw up the at-at too in that respect.

if you want o know rough cockpit dimensions, do you have the BMF?
I figure the change from saga falcon to that one will give us an estimate of POTF atat to this one's cockpit, :)

Those darned "Chicken Walkers" have it rough on the ice! Those are all some pretty sweet pictures! I think I like the one where the camera is shooting up frmo under a log they're walking on, the best!

I like the low angle shots the best myself. It adds a sense of realism to the shots.

I have two at-at and two at-st. I was going to take some pics last weekend too, but just got lazy. LOL
Stupid me now the snow has melted. Maybe this weekend, is another chance, another storm coming in. :)
