Star Wars meets Maschinenkrieger Project
« on: November 04, 2010, 12:36:05 PM »
Yesterday I discussed an exciting new idea with my friends from a German SciFi modelling forum. One guy who is a great Maschinenkrieger (German for machine warrior) fan was blown away and encouraged me to follow this idea and start a project...  ah, you don't know Maschinenkrieger (aka Ma.K.)? no worries, about a year ago or so I had the same big questionmarks on my eyes.
Its a japanese SciFi modelkit series invented by Kow Yokoyama and a mixture between WW2 and future technologie. I was immediatelly attracted by the designs, for there are Walkers, Probot-like things, Battlesuits  - and sexy female mechanics and pilots  ::)

And now that I am aware of this fantastic world of customizers here at the yards I dreamed of WW2-styled Clones, Imperial Wehrmacht Officers or Vietnam-like Endor-troops, McQuarrie-like concept snowtroopers and many more figures along with the Maschinenkrieger vehicles...
SW customs meet Ma.K.
But friends, I need your help! Since I can not invent any cool design but make just simple paintings, using them, rearranging them, enhance them, I would like to kick the whole thing as a cooperative and need the support of customizers like you who have just built troops and figures as described above. Please, my friends, introduce me to your designs!

A first idea is to re-design my concepts of the Gladiator called machine and add some Snow / Jungle trooper:

How does that sound to you? Share your thoughts and ideas and tell me if you are interested and let me use your figures in my artworks.
This is so excinting ;)

Thank you in advance!

This is a great idea, Manga, meets Star Wars. You should try Googling the words "Steampunk Star Wars" you'll find lots of superb customs that may already fit into your category. Go take a look and let me know if that's along the right track...

Oh yes I am very familure with this. I love your rendering of the mech suit! I have wanted some of these along with the vehicle models available. They are perfect for 4 inch figures and are some of the best designs I have seen. I will see if I can put something together for this.

Are you looking for customs that we've done that you can reimagine in that new style?  I have a few that you may like...

Hey, thanks a lot for your replies!!

hearing from you that you like this idea, too, pushes me even more ;)
Though steampunk is not exactly what I had in mind I combined it with other keywords and got nice google hits.

@Phatty: absolutly YES, you hit the nail, re-inventing your already build customs... thats what I am looking for. In addition I am planning to shoot my original SW toys and change them on the digital canvas using WW2 military references. But the main idea was to incorporate customs a) because they already exist, so why not use them and b) you guys may have as much fun as I have seeing them in artworks... teaming up with someone is a great motivation to DO a painting, yes, its a challange, very exciting, it doubles the fun :)

So, your are most welcome to show me your works and ideas! Soldiers, Mandos, Ladies... all are welcome.

had a little time and just had to do this rework of an older concept painting I did back in march... added some snowfall, changed the cropping, turned down the blue a bit and most of all added two trooper I virtually customized out of German WW2 tank infantry and SW concept snowtrooper...
it may be not perfect but for me the idea works... now I am curious to hear your opinions and suggestions.

looks good to me too. The mech reminds me of the ghost in the machine anime mechs the good guys use.

I like the troopers too.

Art, not too long ago I posted some images of clone customs with a Gundam. The Mech seemed to fit in well with the theme, see what you think...

thank you so much for the wonderful encouraging feedback!
still have two or three ideas to try, figuring this crossover idea out...

@HB: wow, Jules, its great to see that you too did somekind of crossover and its works pretty well!!  And you are right about your troopers, the would be just perfect for my project. I especially love that guy with the backpack, this is a damn cool looking outfit!! I would very much give them a try in one of my next scetches, maybe with a few alterations... if you don't mind of course.

the mechs from the Avatar movie sure did look good Star Wars wise too. I think Luke Sprywalker has a few shots in his customs thread somewhere of those.

I keep thinking we will eventually see some type of Star Wars mech on the new Clone Wars TV series, but haven't seen one yet.

bin wieder einmal sehr spät dran, entschuldige
