Title: Gripen90's Action Fleet Collection.
Post by: Gripen90 on November 25, 2009, 11:27:54 AM
Hi y'all  :)

I thought I'd post my collection of Star Wars Action Fleet. I primarily collect episode 4-5-6 vehicles and boxed examples (MISB preferred).
I had a decent Action Fleet collection back in 1997 but I traded it all away for TransFormers (Generation 1 - Scorponok, Dreadwind etc), but eventhough I did a great trade I still missed my Action Fleet vehicles. S
So fast forward 11years. In autumn 2008 I decided to get the Action Fleet vehicles I once had, and so I did bigtime... and even more came.
So what I display in the following was collected during August to November 2008 -  all gotten of ebay.

Thank you ! I have a bad habit of when I'm going to collect I have a hard time stopping or at least not going "over the top".
Besides my Action Fleet I have my TransFormers collection which takes up hughe space, and then there's the Star Wars collection that also takes up a lot of room, and last there's my Power Rangers and Turtles which also take up a small amount of space.

No offense to the carded collectors, I'm a loose collector, never got into collecting boxed/carded items, I like playing with these items, not just look at a box. I've seen people having and displaying a boxed collection of Kotobukiya statues LOL. Should I have kept my MR AT-AT boxed? Or the MR Stormtrooper blaster or Stormie helmet? Or the GG busts/statues?

Higher end items are not to be kept carded unless they are acquired with the specific intention of resale (not my case). And toys are not to be carded either, where is the fun then, just looking at a box? :P These are not expensive action figures that will hold huge values if kept carded. There are guys on Rebelscum selling entire Action Fleet boxed collections and till today they didn't manage to sell them.

Each to their own, I guess, Serg.  I'm sure that Tamer gets a little thrill looking at his minty collection. I do know one thing. I seem to make more selling loose items on ebay than carded. People want that cheaper shipping price, I guess, especially the overseas buyers. Very seldom do I come across a MOC collector there. It happens, just not very often.

Post by: Gripen90 on November 26, 2009, 11:51:11 AM
Thank you very much all  :)

At present time they are all stacked in a room. I simply don't have any shelfspace for displaying.

Regarding the collection being boxed. First of all since I haven't any place to display them loose, keeping them in boxes is much much easier.
Secondly I highly enjoy having everything that come with a figure/vehicle (depending on toyrange).
Also I very much enjoy the "toy store feeling" with having these boxed or carded - it brings back nostalgia from the days of when I was younger and checking the stores for new excited stuff - I still get that kick out of it.
It's important for me to state that I do NOT collect sealed stuff with the intention of selling it again - no I collect to keep (what a curse sometimes).

As far as value for these Action Fleet vehicles I got mine of ebay and prices differ a whole lot. E.g a Mint In Sealed Box (MISB) Rogue 2 Snowspeeder sells around $65, but usually you can get lucky and fine one that no ones bidding on. I usually search ebay a lot before making a purchase.

Besides my Star Wars collecting my largest passion above all is TransFormers (G.1), and here prices are on a totally different level and original boxed/carded figures are immensely expensive - and if AFA graded you may want to rob a bank first.

I collect loose, Mint On Card (MOC), Mint On Sealed Card (MOSC), Mint In Box (MIB), Mint In Sealed Box (MISB) depending of what I want and what I collect.
Hell most of all my collecting is sealed since I have 0 room for display purposes... that has to wait till I some day get the space requirred.

However my ultimate passion is this black C-AT :D

If you want to see what else I colloct you can take a look here - there's most of what I got.

Mm it's in the updated in the 1st picture thread, 2nd last picture. It's the "ordinary" one I suppose you'd call it with the SW silver logo :)
Are there more variations of the AT-AT (mouldwise) the the ordinary, 2x remote versions and the new saga ?

I guess it depends on the size. Today I just ebayed an x-ray version of the atat which came in a two pack with an x-ray x-wing.  If you see any decent deals on one of those gold or silver versions and they are momc let me know as it would be much appreciated.

Surething I'll watch out for that. MOMC is that mint on mint card ?
I'm used the the TransFormers collecting abbrevations :)
MOC = Mint On Card
MOSC = Mint On Sealed Card
MIB = Mint In Box
MISB = Mint In Sealed Box

There is the JC Penny remote control version as well, coming with 3 buttons and a LED on the AT-AT's head.

Hate to kinda hijack your thread, but what did the JC Penny one look like? I have two packaged ones now one, with a window display box and one boxed with just a pic of the remote.

No problem :)
It's a good question. I've never seen the box of the JC Penny version, only the loose AT-AT and the remote. As mentioned previously by jkno the remote has 3 buttons and a small led light on the AT-AT.
I can't remember it in detail - I haven't seen one in years .

They are rare, but a good friend of mine scored one 2 weeks ago. You need luck and patience. But be aware that the original box is plain white cardboard nothing fancy. for me the JC Penney is not important at all, in fact I consider it the ugliest of the bunch, right above being the SAGA snow/toothpaste spit version.
